Do you remember the 21st night of September? You probably would if it was a disastrous end to a humiliating first day at college and you got stuck reliving it over, and over, and over. Barrett Bloom is stuck in a freaking time loop. High school was THE WORST and she desperately wanted college to be a fresh start but she didn't want it to be multiple restarts. When she realizes that Miles, the annoying guy in her physics class, is in the same predicament, things get even more interesting. And eventually even a little steamy. If they break the loop, what else might they break?

I love the trope, but it's hard to pull off a "Groundhog Day" time loop story without some pacing issues, so I went in aware of that. There were a few places where the story felt overly long, but for the most part it all worked pretty well. The characters are well drawn, diverse, and interesting. The story is a fun setting and vehicle for some meaningful and timely explorations of deeper themes. And there's a great balance of humor, angst, and swoon-worthy moments.

Thank you to Netgalley and Simon and Schuster Children's Publishing for providing a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. I'm sorry it took me so long to actually read it and get this written (the book was released on May 17)!

I've never met a time loop story I didn't love, and this was no exception. If anything, I wish that there had been MORE loops and that Barrett and Miles had been trapped for even longer! The time loop explanation was very wibbly-wobbly, timey-wimey, hand-wavey. I'm still not sure why those two specifically got stuck in the same day (but at different times?) when no one else did. The gravity well causing it was under and entire dorm? Why would more people living there not be affected? Also, the implication that Gladys of the Physics library was aware of the time loops at the end was kind of out of nowhere and unexplained, which made me go "wait what?". I did like that the things they did had effects on their bodies even after the loop reset. Bruises, aches and pains, exhaustion, not something you can escape by resetting the day! The evolution of their relationship was believable, and it was nice to see Barrett take some time to try to work through some of her trauma and realize that it did have a profound effect on her and it wasn't just something she could ignore or quickly fix. I also enjoyed the little mini-Dr. Devereaux mystery, but I wish there had been a little more to it.

The writing style of this was very easy and accessible. I read most of it on various planes and trains this past weekend, and it was a perfect travel book. I haven't read anything else by Rachel Lynn Solomon, but I'll be making a point to read some of her other stuff now too! Somewhere between 3 and 3.5 stars for me: light, easy and enjoyable, but nothing groundbreaking or life changing.

So this book is loosley inspired by groundhog day. Two characters get caught in a time loop on thier first day of collge. This book was a super fun read. It is super rare that you get a college ya and i loved that. This book also focsues on two characters as well but only one POV. This book had elements of hate to more, but that was not the part the captured me it was more the characters getting to know each other in this time loop. It also was a really self discovary for the main character and it had some lgbtq side characters and that was a fun element to the story. I also like the realtionship she had with her rommate and how the progressed throuhgout the read!! I think this is my second favorite book by this author!!

*Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for providing me with an e-arc. All thoughts and opinions are my own.*

See You Yesterday is my first read from Rachel Lynn Solomon's young adult work. I have read and am familiar with her two adult romance books, so I was excited to check out some of her YA work. This book is classified on Goodreads as a young adult and a new adult. Personally, I would label it as a new adult coming of age story.

Barrett Bloom is forced to relive her disastrous first day of college over and over, stuck in a 'Groundhog's Day' style time loop. During a confrontation with Miles, a boy from one of her classes, she learns that he has been stuck in the same time loop for weeks. Filled with romance and adventures, the pair must find a way to break out of the time loop.

I really enjoyed the book, especially listening to the audiobook. It has me excited to pick up Rachel Lynn Solomon's other YA novels and I definitely think she is an author I will be looking for more work from across all genres. I'd also like to shout out, for no other reason that thinking it is cool, that part of this book takes place on my birthday.

If you are a fan of romance, contemporaries and time loops, I recommend checking this out.

Thank you so much @SimonTeen & @NetGalley for giving me this physical ARC in exchange for my honest and unbiased review (Release Date | 16 August 2022)

SYNOPSIS | Barrett is hoping that college will be the fresh start that she needs but her first day is a disaster. She's humiliated in physics class, her interview at the college paper is awkward & she sets fire to a frat house. When she wakes up again the next morning she realizes she is in some kind of Groundhog Day situation as its still the first day of college...

WHAT I LIKED:
- the male MC wasn't afraid to show vulnerability
- the story focuses on a pivotal moment (starting university) that often gets overlooked in YA / NA yet a lot of teenagers will definitely relate too

WHAT I DIDN'T LIKE:
- maybe its the Groundhog repetition style of the story but the pacing felt quite slow
- a good half of this book was spent trying to figure out how time travel works (& I wasn't invested in the science of it) & not actually building the relationship between the two MCs
- marketed as YA, but definitely should be categorised as NA

This book was not my usual romance read. I love this author snd her writing. This book was well written and had a fun premise.

Why must there always been a point when the female lead character has a freak out, take it out in the male love interest, vows to never talk to him, or see him, yet goes back on that vow literally less than a day later, and the male interest just accepts whatever tiny apology the girl has, if she even offers an apology, and everything goes back to normal instantly. I hate that shit and this book does it. Ugh.

Storyline is ok overall, just very drawn out and too focused on the "slow burn" romance.

I love RLS!!!! The synopsis had me questioning if I wanted to read but I knew she wouldn’t let me down. Such a fun read!

After a difficult time in high school, Barrett Bloom is hoping that college will be her chance. Her first day doesn’t go according to plan, though. A jerk in her physics class embarrasses her, she messes up her interview for the paper, accidentally sets a frat on fire, and has to sleep in the common room because her roommate locks her out. But then the next day she wakes up in her dorm room to find its September 21st all over again.

Stuck in a time loop, Barrett soon finds the only other person stuck with her is the jerk from physics Miles. And he’s been trapped for months. Together they decide to figure out a way out of the loop and to have fun in the process.

This book and Today, Tonight, Tomorrow are officially in a battle for my favorite RLS book of all time. While a time loop romance sounds like it may end up repetitive, the adventures that Barrett and Miles go on keep every September 21st fresh. There is also so much character growth. Both Barrett and Miles are such fantastic characters. I adored their relationship too. The slow burn was absolutely perfect.

As always, the Jewish rep is just *chef’s kiss*.

College was a rough time for me and this book really healed something inside of me so there’s also that.

In short, I LOVED this book and I can’t recommend it enough

These time traveling nerds have my whole entire heart!!!!!

I absolutely loved See You Yesterday. It was fun and sweet and surprising. The twist at the end really got me - I was so worried about how Barrett and Miles would end up. The time loop setting felt really unique and so interesting. I definitely didn't understand the physics concepts, but who cares! This was so good.

3.5 stars rounded up for the strong finish.

"See You Yesterday" is a cute, YA romance. The characters and their time-loop situation are somehow believable as you read through their experiences, even the sci-fi time travel aspects. Barrett and Miles are ridiculously sweet as they navigate working together and deal with what might happen if they never get out of their time loop. This book does have a lot of the tropes you expect to find in a work from this genre (enemies to loves, addition, parents that "just don't understand", pressure and expectations, high school bullying, the mean girl, the smart person that no one believes---to be real, the more I list out, the more I think maybe there are just too many in this book, but somehow Solomon makes most of them work without making the book too heavy.

I think this work will be enjoyed by a multitude of readers that are drawn in due to a variety of reasons simply because Solomon has written a really good book.

Thank you NetGalley and publisher for the eGalley of this work in exchange for my honest review.

"I've wanted you for weeks. But I don't just want you in September. It's not enough. I want you in winter, too. I want you in spring and in summer. I want you the whole fucking year, and then I want you in September all over again."
— Barrett Bloom, See You Yesterday by Rachel Lynn Solomon

Miles and Barrett. Barrett and Miles. I don't really know how else I can express how much I loved these two. This is slow-burn at its finest and a testament that romance books don't need a bunch of sex scenes for it to be considered good. I heard about this book a couple months back and safe to say, I was easily intrigued by the plot. Two people stuck in a time-loop? Forced-proximity? Count me in. The dynamic between these two were amazing and I can't help the giddiness I felt when the relationship between these two progressed.

I love the way she writes men in her books. They're more soft, cute boys rather than the typical bad, arrogant males and damn, if I don't love both types. You don't understand how often I squealed when Miles blushed or the way I screamed when he would do something bold. He came as a mystery to me and I enjoyed every second of it. Barrett Bloom (beautiful name btw) has become one of my all time favourite female leads. She's wild, charismatic and one of the bravest woman I know. I'm glad she was finally able to make peace at the end and I adored her relationship with her mom <3

If you're into the time-loop mechanic with a male protagonist that has a hard-on for physics and a female MC that loves so greatly then this one is for you ;

Solomon crafted this story brilliantly. A lot of Groundhog's Day stories are a struggle because they become incredibly repetitive, but this story kept moving forward because the characters kept growing. Another cute romance from Solomon with a unique premise.

This book sucked me right into a time loop!

I loved it so much and the characters were written so well. I was so intrigued with how the story would end that I binge read this in a few sittings! I've found Rachel Lynn Solomon's writing to be some of my favorite now that I've read Weather Girl and See You Yesterday. The way she also touches on mental health and trauma is eloquent and sensitive but she really commits to it in her writing which I appreciate. The characters and situations in this story were no exception to that - past experiences and family drama played a big part in character development but were not all-encompassing.

Wonderfully written, Rachel!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for an advance copy of this e-book for review!

The college setting is perfect for Barrett and Miles to be stuck in a time loop! The beauty in this story of relived lives is in the trying and trying again to discover how to set themselves free, as well as in how we learn more about each of the characters (together and separately) through each iteration. I also appreciated that the main character was Jewish--many of my students are Jewish and will relate to Barrett.

Seeing that Rachel Lynn Solomon has a new book coming out always makes me excited. Even if it’s something that I don’t really read. And this one is definitely one I had to work on. I had to revert to two separate formats, but I finished and enjoyed it all the same.

The main thing about this that I had issues with was obviously the freaking science fiction/time travel. And it wasn’t because I didn’t understand it. It was just mainly because the same thing kept happening. And I know it takes me 365 days to finish a physical book now, so I worried that I would get bored quick with it. And sure enough, I did. I was glad I decided to call it when I did and just listen to it instead. I was able to speed it up and get through it better. I want to make it clear this had nothing to do with Solomon as an author, but everything to do with me as a reader. I know I’m not a science fiction reader, but I am a Solomon reader and I will give all her books a shot.

The romance aspect was cute tho. I also liked that the main character was a plus size girl. I’ve been having some body image issues since I’ve had my son and it was definitely a welcome sight to read a romance of someone who more resembles me. And the love interest was pretty great also. I didn’t like that he was so rude to her at first, but again, I know that’s a me thing. I am pretty sure I’m the only person on this whole planet that’s not a fan of enemies to lovers and is actually pretty turned off on the idea of the main character having a relationship with the person who was so terrible to them lol But I digress. The one thing I liked most about this relationship tho was how real it was. I really liked towards the end where he got a bit of, let’s say, last minute jitters. It felt real to see that he was nervous about what could happen and I really felt that. Definitely a real thing to be afraid of. Especially after so much time where they were.

The sciencey part of this is what I thought I’d have a problem with. I HATE reading science fiction where the person is explaining things all at once. The info dumps are THE WORST. But when it did go more into detail about it, it was more in like a Q&A with another character where they were trying to find out more info. It wasn’t like a professor talking at you all at once. It was further in the back than I would have thought it would be, but still. And it wasn’t the big sciencey words that they normally use, so that was a plus also. It wasn’t bad, just repetitve (as time travel books are) but I still wanted to give it a go.

Although I knew this book was out of my comfort zone, I knew how I could make it better. I listened to it instead of continuing on in a format I knew would make me not enjoy it as much. This really shows how I’ve grown as a reader. Normally I would just say forget it and DNF it, but I love Rachel’s books too much to miss one. (Especially after Weather Girl!) With that being said, if you enjoy science fiction, or clearly, even if you don’t, give this book a shot. I’m sure you’ll find something about it that you’ll like!

I love Rachel Lynn Solomon so much and she has truly never missed with a book. I love a good Groundhog Day story and there is not enough YA versions of them which I think is a shame cause if anyone can learn something from a time loop is a college student as RLS shows. This book follows Barrett who is ready for a new start after a not so great high school experience but what she doesn't expect is that after everything goes wrong on Sep 21 she gets a do over, and then another one, annnddd another one. Also what would a time loop story be with a buddy to experience it with and Barrett gets that in Miles who she doesn't have the best start with. I loved seeing their relationship grow as well as Barretts continued attempts to get out of her time loop and save them both.

Thanks to Simon & Schuster and NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review

See You Yesterday is like Groundhog Day if Bill Murray and Andi MacDowell were stuck in a constant loop on the first day of their freshman year of college. Miles and Barrett live the same day over and over again. Sometimes they choose adventure and other times they're fighting when they aren't falling in love. I thoroughly enjoyed this one.

Rachel Lynn Solomon is an insta-read author for me and SEE YOU YESTERDAY was my most anticipated book of 2022, so when I saw that I'd been approved for an arc, it's safe to say there was a small amount of screaming involved. And I was not disappointed. I'm a huge fan of time loop stories, and I loved Solomon's take on it, especially how the book actually delved into some of the science behind time. The romance was also super cute, and of course the representation was fantastic. Rachel Lynn Solomon knocked another one out of the park!
