This is book 6 in the Author's Demon Hunting series and to fully enjoy the book I would recommend reading the previous books first .
This is a fast paced , quirky, funny book with witches , demons , gods and shifters galore which will keep you well entertained
Dev is the Sherriff of Behr County , Alabama - home to humans and those not so human - when a shifter massacre is discovered Dev knows he has a major problem on his hands . So when Arta, an immortal demon hunter , offers her help he knows he is in no position to be picky and accepts with a few reservations .
This is a murder mystery that almost fades into the background with the funny antics of our two investigators as the fall for each other - but it does get solved in the end
This is a very enjoyable read and I plan to read the other books in the series to bring me up to date
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own
Love, love, love this novel! I have never read any of the previous books, and didn't realize this was part of a series - but it didn't matter. Having moved to the South a number of years ago, I find myself more alert to all things Southern, and I do love the Southern flair Lexi George brings to her story.
This novel is a fun, fantastic adventure, which will keep you reading late into the night. The characters are engaging and fun, and the action is non stop. If you love strong, female characters, urban(ish) fantasy, supernatural, and a steamy romance, you will love this - it has it all! The previous books in the series are all going on my summer reading list!
I have read every book in this series and loved them all (some more than others) but this has to be one of the very best in the series. We see pretty much every character from previous books which I loved but I got a small vibe that this might be the last one, I certainly hope not. The local sheriff is a bit supernatural but then a hot huntress shows up to give him help he really does not want and by the time he decides he does kinda like her around he keeps doing stupid things that just make her furious and his efforts to fix things up are hilarious. There is a story but there is so much going on and so much hilarity to be found you almost forget there is a murder or 2 to be solved. So not wanting to give too much away it was a bit of enemies to lovers thrown in with the murder mystery with a large dose of comedy and I certainly hope she continues to write these books. 5 Stars for sheer entertainment value.
Demon Hunting With a Southern Sheriff is book six in the Demon Hunting series. If your fan like me, eternity itself has seemed to pass since the last book in the series. The world building in this series is unique and fun but I feel like you have to read the other books first or you’re just lost in the whole storyline. Dev is the sheriff of Behr County, Alabama, home of normal humans and those that are quite a bit more. Raised by a water goddess, Dev is pretty special too, way more than the shifter people think he is. When a shifter is murdered, Dev runs headlong into a demon huntress that rocks his world. The High Huntress of the Kirvahni, Arta offers her services to hunt down the murdering demons. In a steamy HEA full of action and humor, an immortal huntress finds her feelings and a divine sheriff finds his forever for an entertaining paranormal romance that is totally addicting. My voluntary, unbiased review is based upon a review copy from NetGalley.
There's plenty going on in this book! There are tons of characters and more supernatural types than you normally find in one setting. I liked that the women are strong and capable. There are moments of hilarity. I especially enjoyed the chocolate scene. Readers will find Dev and Arta intriguing and hopeful. I read this book on Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
Demon Hunting with a Southern Sheriff was a very interesting fast paced read. I loved the paranormal aspects and how the characters play off one another. The humor throughout the book made the story so much fun to read.
Demon Hunting with a Southern Sheriff by Lexi George is the sixth book in her Demon Hunting series. This was a fascinating read. The pace of the storyline was good and I kept turning the pages to see what would happen next. Ms. George made me laugh throughout the book. I loved all the slang phrases and how Sheriff Dev Whitsun had to explain all the slang meanings to High Huntress of the KirvahniArta. I enjoyed the back and forth in their relationship. Getting to see characters from earlier books in the series was fun.
I did not realize that this book was part of a series. The little bit that I did read I enjoyed very much. I will not be able to write an accurate review of this book.
I really enjoyed this book and the world this author has created. She has a very unique and vivid way of describing this back woods Alabama town and all of the paranormal inhabitants. Her H/h are strong characters and very likable as well as the supporting cast. There are demons to be fought, Gods, demigods, demon hunting warriors, shifters, a lovable albino Sasquatch and even a large metal statue come to life. I’ve read the whole series over the years and honestly it is helpful but not necessary, since the author publishes her books several years apart. Though I prefer books in a series come out more regularly, this one is on my must read list regardless, b/c it is so smartly and richly written.
This is such a fun well paced book to read. You have demons and witches and gods and funny southern characters. The hero and heroine have chemistry from the beginning but their path to love is fun to watch. All of the side characters are hilarious and just add to the entertaining parts of the book. Previous character characters from previous books do show up but I do still feel like you could read this if you haven’t read previous books. It’s a wonderful combo of mystery romance and paranormal. If you’re looking for a fun read that takes you to a different place this is the book for you.
Review - Demon Hunting with a Southern Sheriff
3.5 stars
I enjoyed this - the 'verse is one I've been following for a while, so I was curious how things would play out for Sheriff Dev Whitsun, who has been a mysterious addition to Hannah, Alabama for several books but the reader hasn't known what his backstory is. This book definitely gives answers to many questions, which I appreciated. This series has a dash of corn pone accents and medieval English ones, lots o' demons and demi-gods and some sweet moments to boot. I also liked that there's more of an effort to expand this 'verse in diversity, at least in supporting characters and not just the demonic ones. Having said this, I would recommend it for fans of the series, because I don't think this is as effective as a standalone. If you like UF-PNR in a small town setting, you may enjoy it.

This is a good addition to the series. Characters from previous titles in the series make an appearance and finally the mystery of the Rogue is fleshed out - though I am hopeful of another book with his story. I look for more additions to the series as the door is left open for a continuation of this world.
"Demon Hunting With a Southern Sheriff" by Lexi George was my first book. With an upcoming release date of April 11, 2022 from Kensington Books, this is the 6th book in Lexi George's demon-hunting series.
I will admit, I've not read the first five which probably would have helped. There were many characters introduced that were carried over from the first five. It could be overwhelming but also added credence to the life of a small town sheriff who knows everyone and their secrets... or so he thinks.
Devlin is our sheriff and hero. The author weaves his backstory throughout the action and intrigue. From the start it's clear that Dev truly wants to protect his community and in the small town of Hannah, that means from the supernatural at times.
Arta is introduced as an immortal demon-huntress early on. Intelligent, strong, and never one to turn away from a battle, she was an enjoyable character. Of course, sparks fly between Arta and Dev and they join forces to investigate the grisly goings-on in Dev's community.
The small-town vibe was entertaining and I felt like I could picture this small, Southern town. The banter amongst characters was witty and merited a chuckle at times. The numerous side characters could become overwhelming but they were so delightful that I could forgive the side stories and backstories to keep track of.
The plot points felt disjointed at times, as our characters searched for a magical artifact, the culprit of a horrific attack, and a separate culprit of the murder of someone close to Dev. One storyline dominated the other and it seemed like the book could have benefited from reducing the second murder or tying the two storylines together somehow. Six books in, the stakes have got to be raised so I could understand the magical artifact and deranged killer searching for it as being the major storyline.
All in all, I enjoyed the book and will definitely add Lexi George's first five novels to my TBR pile so maybe I can revisit this one with a better understanding. Lexi's world-building and take on the supernatural world is fresh and intriguing.
Devon Writes Rating: 4/5 Stars

Completely original and fun I needed this book in my life.
Demon Hunting with a Southern Sheriff is a funny, action packed adventure….once I could get my head around all the characters!
The story is great, we follow a southern sheriff called Dev, who is supernatural, and how he deals with crimes committed by supes but within the ‘norm’ world. Unbeknown to him he is involved in a big event and we meet Arta, a kick ass huntress who is also trying to keep the peace in the supernatural world. They both have the same goal, just go about it in different ways!
There’s romance, action, adventure and lots of kick ass characters that make you want to know more about them! (Possibly in other books?)
Overall a good read!
Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
There are many redeeming features of Demon Hunting with a Southern Sheriff. It is filled with interesting characters, lush descriptions of nature and beautiful scenery, has some excellent comedy, and most importantly, really great food. There are wild fight scenes and incredibly skilled fighters, who have strength, agility, training, magic, otherworldly attributes, and can transform into other things at will.
Dev, our hero, seems like an upright dude who tries to do right by the world, and who has a very compelling relationship with his community and his need to protect it.
However, it is a little over the top for me. Too many characters with too many nicknames, too many foster children and secret relatives and immediate attractions. I don't love the trope of "they instantly felt something and it must be mutual respect of their work, because love - that would be crazy." I confess I did not realize this was book #6 in a series, and I got lost and then lost interest. However, for fans paranormal romance looking for a new direction, this is a good one.
Thanks to NetGalley for the early read!
I received a free copy of this book from Netgalley. This is my honest review.
I didn't realize this book is part of a series. Unfortunately it doesn't quite work as a stand alone read.
The writing was fine but I'm not a huge fan of explicit, extended sex scenes.
Perhaps I would have enjoyed it more if I had started with the beginning of the series.
Unfortunately, I did not realize it was part of a series. However, that didn’t impede from my enjoyment of the book very much. I still had a great time reading it and thought that some scenes were absolutely, laugh out loud hilarious! I am definitely going to go back and start the series from the beginning!
Unfortunately I have not read the other books in this series. This means that I cannot give an accurate rating for this book. I can however talk about the title and book cover, The book cover looks enticing and a little mysterious (both good things). The title reminds me of Buffy, which was one of my favorite tv shows, Thank you for considering me for this ARC.
