Wow, wow, wow - that was good.
I haven't read a Jane book for ages and didn't know why and know I now I need to read more.
This is a great novel and I highly recommend everyone reads this.
I went into this blind, I thought it was a psychological thriller, but it reads more like a domestic drama, it started off great, then drifted to okay, there was no shock in the reveals which I was hoping for as I continued to read.
The book surrounds three people. Emily, a midwife who is on suspension, her father Harold and his carer/home helper, Francoise, all are keeping secrets.
I enjoyed Harold’s entries in the book as they were from his time in the war, it was very interesting.
I have read Jane Corry’s other books and really enjoyed them, this one was different, it was okay and I know a lot of my friends would enjoy it, as I did. It just wasn’t what I thought it would be.
3.5 stars
Jane Corry is a masterful storyteller....We All Have Our Secrets continues that tradition. Great read, engaging characters....a no brainer, give it a read!
Another strong book by Jane Corry. Although I have enjoyed other the authors other novels more this is well worth a read and has lots a twists to keep you guessing.
gripping, addictive and completely unpredictable. I devoured this book in just one sitting. This is unique and pulled me in quickly. Well-written and able to transport the reader.
This was my first time reading a book from the author but I am delighted to say I thoroughly enjoyed the story and I look forward to reading more books from the writer in the future!
I really wanted to like this book as the blurb drew me in but unfortunately it fell a bit flat for me. The story started off well but I felt once Emily had returned to Cornwall it just dimmed a little
Thank you to Netgalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
This book was fantastic! Another fabulous book by Jane Corry. I loved the fast pace throughout not seeing any of the surprises coming either. It twisted back and forth and left me wanting to stay up longer to finish it. Definitely an amazing book but only read if you have the time to start and finish it in one go.
Oooooh this was so good! Totally unexpected, so clever, a total page turner, simply flew through the pages. A fabulous get away from it all book.
Another triumph for Jane Corry!
My thanks to NetGalley and Penguin General UK for allowing me the opportunity to read an advanced copy in return for an honest review.
This was a super read by @janecorry
I often wake in the night and read to fall back asleep. Well this book was the wrong choice for that, kept me gripped and reading in the wee small hours ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Thank you to @netgalley and @penguinbooksireland for the ARC
After hearing so many good reviews of Jane Corry's novels, she had been on my TBR list for months so I was super excited to read this one and it didn't dissapoint.
Full of suspense and drama, twists and turns, this was a book that kept me hooked right from the very first page.
I can't wait to read what she writes next.
Emily flees back to her father's house after a problem at work, but soon discovers her father has a new home carer. What secrets does the new carer have, and what influence does she have over Emily's father? This makes for a very thrilling read, full of secrets and suspense!
This was an exciting read, which took more unexpected twists and turns that should work - yet it did!
Emily has a secret and returns home to avoid facing her actions to find her elderly father being cared for by Francoise. The relationship between the three is slowly revealed and none of them are exactly what they are publicly portraying. Emily's back story of the ex who has abandoned her, but now is back on the scene, seemed a little cliched and, perhaps, unnecessary. I also found the timeline slightly implausible. Harold, Emily's father, is not a likeable man, though as his character develops, it is easy to misunderstand him.
The book neatly ties everything up and resolves the odd relationships between them all and this felt a little forced to me. Yet, I was glad to see that Emily and Francoise achieved a peace in their lives.
Fast paced, lots of threads to keep track of!
Thank you for providing me with an advance review copy of this book. Enjoyed reading, would recommend....
Thanks Netgalley for the ARC.
Jane Corry's books are always a great read and this one didn't disappoint.
After an incident at work Emily goes back to her elderly father and her childhood home Willowmead House. However, after arriving she discovers not only has her father taken on a young french housekeeper but that she also seems to be keeping secrets of her own.
As Emily becomes more obsessed with finding out the truth her fathers health takes a turn for the worst. With both women lying to cover their pasts and secrets, who will come out on top.
Cracking read and a real page turner to the great ending.
A brilliant read, full of suspense and twists. Keeps you guessing all the way through and is quite difficult to put down.
I enjoyed reading this, characters were very believable and I loved the storyline. Gripping, interesting and recommended
Thank you to netgalley and the publishers and the author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest opinion
Thank you to Netgally and the publisher for sending this to me for review!
This book suffers the fate of being marketed as many have before it as a thriller when it's not a thriller at all.
I found this story to be a bit all over the place, it's told from two points of view and we have a point of view from 1945 which I didn't even bother to read and didn't feel like I lost anything, I felt like this book was all over the place and didn't really flow well sadly. The story itself was OK but a bit bland and draggy.
A wonderfully crafted thriller with enough twists to keep the reader guessing.
Endearing, complicated characters push the narrative forward at an easy-to-read pace.
Lots of drama and conflict keep the read fresh.
Highly recommend.
After being suspended from her midwife job pending an enquiry, Emily returns to her father’s home in Cornwall. There she discovers a new live-in carer, Francoise, who appears to be on very friendly terms with the old man.
Another cracking story by Jane Corry, We All Have Our Secrets is told from the viewpoints of both Emily and Francoise. It keeps you guessing with many twists and turns along the way. The biggest twist of all comes right at the very end and was not what I was expecting at all.
Hugely entertaining read and would thoroughly recommend it.
