I've been wanting to read Katee Robert's Dark Olympus series for a while now, and when I saw that a preview of Wicked Beauty was available here I thought it would be the perfect way to dip my toe in the water. I really enjoyed the preview. So far I'm intrigued by the dynamic between Helen, Achilles, and Patroclus; I really like how they all have very different relationships with each other, I'm sensing a childhood friends to lovers trope between Helen and Patroclus, an enemies to lovers trope between Helen and Achilles, and whatever the fuck is going on between Achilles and Patroclus. I'm also curious to see how the competition for Ares goes. Speaking of which, I found her world building to be quite confusing, I was under the impression that this was a standalone but it's a bit difficult to follow. I'm going to go in order to try and understand what's happening better, but I'm still very excited to read this series. Side note - I need a book on Zeus and Hera ASAP! I NEED to know what's going on with them.

Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this arc!
Even though this was only five chapters, I'm very intrigued in where the story is going. I have read multiple retellings of The Trojan War (most notably The Song of Achilles) and I feel like this is a very unique spin on the myth. This is the second book I've read in the Dark Olympus series (the first being Neon Gods) and I felt that the world is definitely being expanded on in a way where I am intrigued to both continue the series and go back and read Electric Idol. Will definitely be picking this up in June!

So much tension! I literally can't wait for this book to come out! The I love the characters that have been introduced so far! I'm so ready to see how the trails to decide who the next Ares are going to go down!

Read the preview and oh man is it good. I can’t wait for it to be released so I can continue the story. Fire female lead with 2 interesting intense male perspectives. 5/5 so far!

I enjoyed the few chapters I’ve read. I’ll be grabbing this book when it comes out on audiobooks. I still need to go back and read this series in order. 🤦🏽♀️ Started with the second book. It just grabbed my attention more than the first one. Same with this book. I want to know the rest. Lol I know I weird for reading out of order but if the author is good you do miss much and Katee is good

Robert's world of Olympus is lush, wild, and sexy and the third instalment in the series looks as if it will carry on the tradition. The first five chapters of the book introduces our heroine Helen (who was a favorite new character of mine from the Electric Idol book) and I have to say I truly look forward to reading about her journey. It is also nice to see this book will be far more queer coded than the previous offerings which makes sense in a Greek mythology based world. These first few chapters drew me in straight away and I for one cant wait to read the entire book.

This 7 chapter preview of Wicked Beauty made me so excited for this book to come out! I cannot wait to purchase my own copy of this scintillating book by Katee Roberts. I've been loving every new book that's come out in this series and I can't wait to read this book and hopefully the other books that Katee has planned for this series.
🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥 🔥/5 for already anticipated steaminess.

4/5 stars - A retelling about Achilles, Helen and Potroclus - competing in a tormument to take up the place of Ares and win Helen as a wife. I'm so excited to read the rest of this book, has a great plot, the writing in the preview is exquisite and has my some of fav greek mythology characters

I received the first 5 chapters as an ARC preview and I can not wait for the entire book to be released!! Despite owning a Song of Achilles, I have yet to read it. So Wicked Beauty is my first take on his story. A modern retelling of Helen of Troy, Achilles and Patroclus.
This is my first polamorous MMF relationship and it is steamy! Chemistry between Achilles and Patroclus is a chef’s kiss.
I love the world setting of a modern Olympus and on how the “Olympians” gain their positions is a unique take.
Ares has passed away and the new Zeus (Helen’s brother Perseus) will be announcing the three trials that would take place for a champion to win the position as the new Ares. It’s not a position passed down by generations, a person’s background, connections, history does not matter; just their ability to win. Helen is tired of being seen as a spoiled princess who has no real value beyond her looks and her last name.
She decided to enter the trials. She’s been training for this and wants to make a name for herself, be free. That is until her brother announces that the champion of the trials will become the new Ares and will gain a wife; Helen. Achilles and Patroclus enter the trials to get Achilles to win the position but everything becomes complicated when Helen enters the trials herself.
It also becomes a bit even more complicated when Achilles becomes jealous of Helen, Patroclus is his. Can this triad work together?
(I was a bit taken back by the easier description of the characters . I know readers have been harsh lately, especially on booktok and authors feel the need to tread lightly on certain topics. But “white man or white woman” when referring to a character was a bit…different, nothing i couldn’t ignore.)
All in all I know this book is going to be hot, steamy, unique, captivating with strong characters.

I am so freakin excited for this!!! Helen is badass and I can't wait to read her story. Katee Robert is now an autobuy author ;) Why is June so far away?

Only one word to describe a Katee Robert book: HOT!!!! Can't wait to be able to read the whole book soon!

Fuck, that was one hell of a preview. I am so excited for this book, I'm nearly buzzing after finishing this excerpt.
The setting is already so addictive, the angst is real and I am here for it, 100%. The Eros cameo was fantastic, I love their realtionship so much.
I believe this book will be like a balm on my soul and I am beyond happy that I got to read a little bit of it.

Katee Robert is just fantastic, and the start of this story does not disappoint. Love that we are getting a complex relationship dynamic here between an already committed couple & a new addition to that dynamic in Helen. I think readers are going to love this book.

Dang this ARC preview has left me counting down the days until I get to read the whole book!! I am beyond excited to get the rest of Helen's story and to see how it all turns out with Patroclus and Achilles!! Is it June yet?!?!

The first five chapters is a great introduction to Wicked Beauty...but I need more. I am invested in how this story plays out and the dynamic these three have.
Thank you to NetGalley and Sourcebooks for this advanced preview copy in exchange for my honest opinion.

I received the first five chapters as an ARC preview and I'm excited to read the rest. Olympians in a modern world makes for a fun and interesting read.
This super spicy retelling of Helen of Troy (albeit a very loose retelling) is one I look forward to reading the rest of!

This is the first book of Katee Robert's that I've read, and it was only the first five chapters that I received as an ARC. I have to say, she set up the spice really well and I'm looking forward to reading more of Helen, Patroclus, and Achilles' relationship all together. Reading through these five chapters made me want to go to Robert's backlog and get caught up so that when the rest of this book is released, I have the foundation for the storyline! I'll update this review when I read the whole book, but for now, it's enough to make me want to read more and so I will!

I love the multiple perspectives Katee always write with her books. The storyline line grabs you making you want to read even more to find out what happens. The tension between characters yanks you into the war of leadership. I am excited to see where the rest of this book goes.

OH BOY this made me even more excited for Helen's book. Electric Idol is my favourite book so far of the series, but after this 5-chapter sneak peek I have a feeling that Wicked Beauty will dethrone it effortlessly.

Wicked Beauty
Katee Robert
I was eager to read this book. Unfortunately, it did nothing for me. I enjoyed the tale of Helen of Troy and thought this book would be the retelling of that beautiful tale of mythology. I never connected to this tale or the characters. The characters lack dimension. The writing lacks luster. This one just didn’t do it for me.
