There aren’t a lot of books out there for queer parents or parents-to-be. This one is thoughtful and concise, with plenty of practical advice.
Very engaging, informative, and important information! I feel like most of this I could look up online but I did appreciate the effort.
Everything I wanted in a fertility book and couldn’t find anywhere else.
Trans inclusive, doesn’t make assumptions about the readers’ family structure, and just generally good solid information in a welcoming and judgement free tone.
I’m so glad this exists!
This was so nice and thorough, and I really appreciated all of the care and intentionality put into it. Will be adding it to nonfiction lists personally and professionally. Awesome read.
Written by a midwife, this guide for LGBTQIA+ aspiring parents covers a range of topics that the mainstream pregnancy and fertility books leave out. Kali's tone is encouraging and reassuring, and readers will find her advice helpful without being overwhelming. This is a good title for larger library collections.
I requested this book from NetGalley because I hoped that it would have answers to questions that have been plaguing me for a long time, and I was so relieved to find that it did. I am a transmasc individual who, while isn't fond of the ideal of pregnancy, knows that doing so was one of the only reasonable ways for my partner and I to have a child. This scared me from taking any transition steps, despite the mental torment doing nothing caused. I needed advice, from someone who knows what they're talking about, who knows the data that exists, and who would genuinely look at my situation with the empathy to understand what it genuinely means to wait as compared to transitioning. This book was all of that. It gave me so much encouragement to my situation, as well as a lot of good information to hold onto for the future. It talks about a variety of different scenarios and options and uses clear and inclusive language. I look forward to buying a physical copy to refer to and consider more in depth, but overall, I can't recommend this book enough.
Queer Conception is packed full of really great information about conceiving and the different ways individuals may go about it. The formatting for the eBook was unfortunately quite difficult to navigate, especially the charts which were unreadable in the format.
Very helpful and informative for queer person/s trying to conceive, but the overall organization of the book was very difficult to pick through. Maybe a hard copy will be easier to navigate, but I couldn't click to each chapter and the charts were all distorted in the Kindle version.
