I'm so thankful to NetGalley for the ARC of Ruth Ware's newest thriller, The It Girl. I finished this in one sitting and was on the edge of my seat from beginning to end. Every time I thought I had it all figured out, another twist would come and take me back to square one...

Ten years ago, Hannah returned to her dormitory to find April, her beautiful and vibrant roommate - and best friend - dead on the floor of their room. Hannah had seen John Neville, the aggressive and often inappropriate porter, leaving the building as she and her friend Hugh approached. Her testimony helps put Neville behind bars for life, but he continues to maintain his innocence until he dies of a heart attack in prison. Instead of bringing much-needed closure to Hannah, now pregnant and married to April's ex-boyfriend Will, a long list of potential suspects begins to emerge. Is it possible that one of April's closest friends had a motive to kill her? What secrets was April hiding behind her endless supply of champagne, expensive makeup, and Louboutins?

Every twist and turn will have your mind racing and your jaw dropping. I've been a fan of Ruth Ware's books for years and this is her best one yet!

The It Girl is the newest thriller from Ruth Ware. Years ago, Hannah's roommate at Oxford was brutally murdered, and the creepy porter that had been stalking Hannah was convicted. However, after he dies in prison, new evidence comes to light that shows he might actually have been innocent. As Hannah starts to investigate, she must come to terms that one of her good friends might be hiding something.

I really enjoyed this book! It wasn't the most surprising twist, but I thought all the build up to it was really good. It had suspense, intrigue, and more. I thought this was another great book by Ruth Ware. If you've liked her previous books, definitely pick this up!

The It Girl has all the elements of a Ruth Ware book. Suspense, excitement and an interesting cast of characters.
When the unlikely pair of freshman, April and Hannah get thrown together in the dorm, things get intense, and awkward, quickly! Throughout the book, you feel a bit uncomfortable just wondering when things will hit the fan. Even when you know how things turn out in the end, you will still be shocked when the truth is revealed!

Ten years ago, Hannah Jones's roommate at Oxford was brutally murdered, strangled while she was alone in their shared student suite. Hannah witnessed a notoriously creepy middle-aged porter exiting their building just before she found her friend, April's, body. Tried and convicted, the porter, Neville, is taken to prison. Now, a decade after April, The It Girl's, murder, Hannah is married to one of April's former boyfriends and she is expecting his baby. Then, Neville dies in prison, and a news reporter who is referred to Hannah by a friend, begins to question whether Neville was really the killer. Hannah was an eyewitness to Neville's escape that night, but what if she got it wrong?

Ruth Ware is often referred to as a modern Agatha Christie, and that is not to be taken lightly. Her latest novel is full of twists, turns, and red herrings that will keep you guessing until the very end. Just when you think you have figured what happened to glamorous April Clarke-Cliveden, Ware proves you wrong. Ware's skill at characterization immediately makes the reader connect to the characters, exploring the plot through the eyes of sweet-hearted Hannah, empathizing with her grief over the loss of her best friend and agonizing over the possibility of helping to convict the wrong person in her friend's murder. Ware's writing has never been better and, just as you think her last novel is your favorite, she surpasses it. The It Girl is sure to be the it book of the summer.

Hannah Jones is starting at Oxford and feeling a bit out of place, especially in the presence of her roommate and the "It" girl April Clarke-Cliveden. As Hannah gets drawn into April's life and into the friendships that go long with it, the reader goes on a journey to before and after--the year before April's murder and the years after her death. So why does April death need to be revisited? Her convicted killer, a man who claimed his innocence for years, recently died in prison and a spunky reporter is following up on the protestations. His story draws Hannah back in to her past, leading her to question what she thinks she knows and the relationships she has built over time--including the one with her husband.

Ware did an excellent job of getting the reader invested in the characters, and there were a number of believable red herrings and twists along the way. This novel did an excellent job of depicting what doubt can do to friendships and other relationships of time. Fans of Sandie Jones and Lucy Foley would enjoy this read for sure.

I love Ruth Ware’s books! I have yet to read one that has disappointing me and this newest one is no different. One April and Hannah meet as roommates at Oxford they seem like an unlikely pair. But through the design of being roommates they quickly became inseparable and Hannah loved April, even when April wasn’t easy to love. That’s why, 10 years later, Hannah is still struggling with April’s death and the news that the man who served time for her death may not be guilty. Despite her pregnancy she is unable to let this go and Hannah is determined to tie up the loose ends around April‘s death and finally make peace with this troubling time in her life. I thought I had it all figured out and quickly realized I did not, I thought I had it figured out five more times and then realized I did not. Having spent time at Oxford myself I was fully in the settings and could picture in my mind exactly what the author was describing. A great new book from a phenomenal author.

This book was sent to me electronically for review by Netgalley. I enjoy books by Ruth Ware. This one was a great mystery/thriller with so many red herrings, it was difficult to determine the ending. A group of friends...murder...love...romance...friends...family...themes run throughout the book...the characters are almost life like...in fact, the book reads like a true life-like story...easy to follow...easy to understand...although it took awhile to get through some of the more slow-going parts of the book, it was worth every minute. I read the book quickly because I wanted to know what was going to happen next.. Although sometimes the characters do things that are quite unexpected, they keep the reader intrigued. Who did it? Did a man go to prison who was innocent? Was the testimony of a college student enough? Who could be trusted? Enjoy.
