Wow! Flove the cover and I just love sexy retellings. Scarlet and Liam made a perfect couple with a fun HEA!
What did I like? As far as retellings go this was a fun one. What started as a Halloween costume turned into an erotic retelling with a better ending.
Would I recommend or buy? I was hesitant to start this series until they were all available but book one was fabulous. My first by this author and I enjoyed it. Four stars of entertainment!
I received a complimentary copy to read and voluntarily left a review.
A fun, sexy, modern day twist on Little Red Riding hood. But in this saucy tale, the wolf is a sexy shifter, and Red is his irresistible secretary. An office romance with a supernatural, fairy tale twist, and I really enjoyed this fairy tale twist - lots of interesting characters, and plenty of spice. Liam and Scarlet are far more alike than either of them realize, and their attraction is way more than physical - but their chemistry is scorching. It’s also a good foundation for the rest of the series, of which Scarlet’s siblings will take center stage. Theirs is a quirky, interesting family, and Liams pack has an interesting story as well. The two sides weave together well, keeping things interesting and moving at a good pace. Looking forward to the rest of this series!
Full of fun, romance, supernatural beings and a play on a children’s story - pretty much everything I enjoy reading wrapped up in one story….what’s not to love!?
This is a quick down and dirty but lighthearted read that had me racing to get hold of the next in the series.
I thoroughly enjoyed this one. A romantic play on red riding hood? Brilliant. Fae, shifters and magic? Right up my alley. I laughed probably more than I should have though this but it got me going. 4⭐
This was a fun story. I thoroughly enjoyed Scarlet; she was genuinely more than I expected. Well, she was more than Liam expected, and that’s what made this fun. What made this a little off-putting was the power dynamic between them. They work together, and she’s his secretary. With that said, their interactions were fun. I enjoy reading them. I enjoyed, for the most part, some of the secondary characters. Paxton and Albert were great.
It’s a quick read and a fun story. The writing was nice, and it didn’t feel like an information dump. The opening of the story will draw readers in. The cover helps as well. This was quite enjoyable, and I look forward to the next installment.
A fun romantic play with some notes of Little Red Riding Hood that are quite the chuckle. Add in some fae, magic, and shifters and it's a fun romp through the romantic turmoil that of course leads to a satisfying conclusion. Looking forward to the next installment.
This was a very strange book. I feel like it has a lot of potential but it was ask drowned by unneeded erotica. Perhaps the next few books will have a plot but until then this series is not a must read.
Hot, hot, hot! I'm ready to see how this series develops as there are TONS of ways it can spin here and there. I enjoyed the tension, the dialogue, and of course, the characters are what made it!
A fantastic start to a new trilogy from Bethany Maines. When Liam walks in on his secretary Scarlet and finds her dressed up as Little Red Riding Hood what else is the bBig Bad Wolf supposed to do except bite. What follows is a forbidden, hot, office romance between colleagues with electric chemistry who are hiding their developing feelings from each other as well as a major secret as to what they really are. All this while fighting off attacks from warlocks with an underlying story arc of environmental change.
While I enjoyed this book and the hero and heroine I would’ve like more background info for Scarlet. We find out what she is but that’s it although this might be expanded on in the next two books featuring her brother and sister. There is a great cast of secondary characters especially Scarlet’s grandma, Diana – loved how she got Liam to scare away the coyote after her chickens and Liam’s brother, Paxton but if I’m being honest his mother is a complete bitch! The plot itself was enjoyable but I’m thinking this book was more to wet the appetite for what’s coming next.
Liam and Scarlet’s story was an enjoyable read. A Little Red starts off with a bang and finishes with a glimpse of Azure’s story. I’m loving this supernatural world.
I don’t usually read much paranormal much less shifter stories. But, I wanted to step out of my comfort zone and decided to give this one a try. This is also a “new to me” author. A story with shapeshifting wolves, fae, witches, warlocks, and vampires? If mermaids were included it’d be the perfect occult recipe.
I actually enjoyed this story much more than I thought I would. Liam and Scarlet were great characters and you could instantly root for them… even though they were both keeping secrets about themselves from the other. They are both alpha outside the bedroom but it’s very obvious that Liam is the alpha in the bedroom. We are introduced to Scarlet’s siblings who are the characters for the next two in the trilogy. I definitely hope we still see Liam and Scarlet in the rest of the series as secondary characters. This is a shorter read. The only reason it got 4 stars was because some of the scenes/writing was choppy but overall the story was great.
A interesting, sexy retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, A little Red was a really good read. I really liked "Wolf", Liam Grayson and all his interactions with "Red", Scarlett Lucas. Liam has no business with a human. It's just not allowed in his society. When he finds Scarlett crying on Halloween, he immediately wants to kill the guy who upset her but pursue the same lust filled thoughts. Funny about lust. It's so despised when from the wrong guy but unlike the guy earlier, Scarlett is all about Liam's attraction since it's mutual.
Both Liam and Scarlett have eshewed their expected roles in their societies to large part because they've sought lives in business. They haven't tried to cut all ties though. When Scarlett's sister and brother need help protecting the earth, she's right there getting arrested, weaving shocking spells, etc. Liam may not see eye to eye with his Alpha/mom but he loves his pack and misses them when he's off in New York. No one in either camp, approves us their relationship.
Soon the two are fighting time and unkown outside forces after Liam is attacked. The safest place from the attackers is likely the pack's area but is Scarlett safe there from the pack? As they pursue all means to identify the attackers and their motives they're also pulling out all means to fix Liam. Throughout their attraction deepens to their destined relationship and they're called upon to take actions that save them but also prove their commitment.
There's a cute love story blooming admist a whole lot of bad happenings and it's all very engaging to the reader. I can recommend this book.
Thanks to the author, The Next Step PR and NetGalley for the ARC.
A Little Red by Bethany Maines
A Three Colors Shifter Romance #1
Sitting here smiling the morning after finishing this steamy shifter story. What fun this was! Was it deep? Not really. Was it fun? Definitely! Did I enjoy it? My oh my…I definitely did!
What I liked:
* It was short, complete, and so much fun!
* Scarlet Lucas: very educated secretary, environmentally focused, interesting family, raised by her grandmother since parents were away, interesting brother and sister, open minded, plucky, strong, and intriguing – had an idea she was “different” but didn’t twig to her real paranormal identity till later in the story.
* Liam Grayson: Scarlet’s boss, wolf-shifter, alpha’s child, away from his pack, forward thinking, intelligent, a take charge sort of person, knows what he wants…eventually, HOT, interesting, perfect with and for Scarlet – liked him.
* The Little Red Riding Hood – Wolf tie-ins…still smiling thinking about some of them ;)
* Paxton: brother of Liam
* Ochre and Azure – brother and sister of Scarlet
* Scarlet’s grandmother
* Escaping into a fun steamy romp that didn’t require a lot of thought but did provide enjoyment before heading to bed last night
* The magical and paranormal parts of the story
* Reading a new-to-me author
* Wondering what will happen next
What I didn’t like:
* The people and events that I was meant NOT to like
* Having to wait to find out what will happen next.
Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.
4-5 Stars
Thank you so much to Next Step PR for sending me a copy of A Little Red, the first book in the 3 Colours Trilogy.
It is a modern twist of Little Red Riding Hood with supernatural creatures, from werewolves to witches.
It is more of a novella as it is very short just over 100 pages and it's certainly a very fun palette cleanser. I do wish it was longer because this VERY fast-paced. There are plot points that are glossed over simply because the book is so short.
I'm excited to see what happens in the rest of the series as the first book does end in a cliffhanger.
This author is new to me but I will definitely be reading her again. I loved this story. The characters are fantastic. Liam and Scarlett have sizzling chemistry. There's just the right dose of tension. It could have used a bit more world building, it's a very unique take on the genre. Overall I sped through it. I really couldn't put it down. I am anxiously waiting for the next book!
This was a really good series starter. Liam and. Scarlet are absolutely adorable. The beginning of the book has a little bit of a rough start, I lost interest a couple of times but pushed through and it was well worth it. The worldbuilding really took off towards the end of the book and I am absolutely dying for the next book.
Little Red Riding hood meet the Big Bad Wolf.
A romance paranormal story
Good interesting story.
A cute meet between Liam and Scarlet.
Really enjoyed the story, looking forward to read the next.
Voluntarily reviewed.
I received this book as an ARC through NetGalley (my first ARC jeeej!) in exchange for an honest review.
Overall I really enjoyed my time with this book! The story was really fast paced and the writing style had me flying through this book in 2 days time.
The main storyline of the book was definetely interesting. The world is changing and the wolves have to change their ways in order to survive and keep the growing threat of warlocks at bay. Liam, a wolf himself, is using his position in a big company to help their cause and that is where he meets Scarlet.
The beginning of the book felt a little rushed to me. One night Scarlet is found by Liam, her boss - crying in her Little Red Riding Hood costume (how convenient). She was on a date with an absolute ass and scraped her knee while setting him straight. Liam sees his new secretary crying and wants to help her. They go out for drinks and they instantly turn into a thing. I would have preferred to see their relationship develop a little over time in order to be more invested in it.
The overall pacing of the book gets better around the halfway mark. We start learing more about the world and the characters' backstories. We see the relationship between Scarlet and Liam grow from lust to love (and there definetely was a lot of lust :p)
Both Liam and Scarlet are very likable characters, but my favorite was definetly Paxton! I hope to see him develop more over the next 2 books. I also absolutely adored Scarlet's grandmother, such a sweatheart!
This book was a good start to the series and I am looking forward to the next book!
My rating: ⭐⭐⭐/5
Goodreads rating: 3,82/5
Spice: 🌶🌶🌶/5
It took me a while to get into the writing style of this book but when it found its motion it was a great read. It is well written with an intriguing plotline and even more intriguing and well developed charcaters. I cannot wait for number two in the series.
A Little Red by Bethany Maines caught my attention and kept it. I can't wait to read book 2 in the 3 Colors Trilogy. Such a fantastic storyline and characters.
