My biggest problem with the book is the title. Churchill wasn't an escapee. In my opinion the title should just be Seven Incredible Escapes by WWII Heroes.

As I read this book, I kept thinking that this is a non-fiction (and very serious) version of Hogan's Heroes. No slap stick one liners, no Col. Klink, no Serg. Schultz, but some amazing and unforgettable escapes. Most if not all escapees were tied to the British Special Air Service, special forces of the British Army.

Definitely a great read and so glad that Damien Lewis published this book, especially as it is increasingly difficult to research resources for such a book.

Thank you to NetGalley, Damien Lewis the author and researcher and Kensington Books, Citadel the Publisher for the opportunity to review Great Escapes in exchange for an honest review.

An interesting book about a handful of British soldiers attempts at escape during World War 2. I liked being able to see pictures of the soldiers. The book was very informative.

A collection of escapes from WWII that actually happened. Though hard to believe. Well they do say fact is stranger than fiction.
