So , I am a mafia romance reader , this book's plot line seemed intersting , but i was so slow for me , I was bored and skimmed some pages.
I still liked the writing style and will check out author's future works but not this series ..

I found the story long winded and seemed to take a long time to get to an interesting pace. The characters were not very interesting.

I went into this book expecting some intrigue a sprinkling of romance and a plotline filled with suspense; and I wasn't disappointed. The plot line of this book gives everything that you're hoping for. There's a lot of points in it that you have to put on your detective hat right along with Charlie and look at what is happening to the celebrity that she is brought in to protect. The romance in this book is like the best kind of sprinkles. I found myself looking forward to the romantic chapters so that there was a little bit of a break between the things that happened to the young celebrity but there was no disappointment when it was all plot.

Charlie is one of my favorite characters, she owns her personal trauma. At the start of the book I wasn't the biggest fan of Charlie because of the way that she talked to herself but shortly after I was in love. She's got the trauma to match her personal scars and is able to use that trauma to be the best person to support and protect her charge. The way she falls for Daniel is definitely one of my favorite things as well, they don't just fall into bed there's actual building of a relationship.

I'm not sure if I really like Daniel or if I just like how Charlie sees him. He knows who he is and how the world around him views him and he is unapologetic to a fault. But his personality definitely doesn't match the way the world views him and I really appreciated that about him. He respects the members of his team, genuinely works to have good working relationships with those he works with and wants everyone to remain safe and whole.

Overall, definitely looking forward to the next book. Want to see how Charlie and Daniel are going to navigate whatever comes next and also how they handle her being his when he's back in the limelight. Spend the time reading this book you will not regret it.

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

This was a very steamy romantic suspense that had me guessing until the reveal. There is a slow burn romance between Charlie and Daniel that when it gets going, is going to burn your reader! While I liked both characters, especially Charlie’s history as an ex-military badass, I did feel Charlie’s internal monologue got redundant. I also found the writing style an awkward read for me. It wasn’t a smooth story telling presentation for me to fully immerse myself. But I’m curious as to Daniel’s secret so will be looking forward to the next in this series.

I really enjoyed this book it is my first by this author. I liked the way both Charlie and Daniel each told their side of the story. The story had Charlie protecting a young actress on set, and Daniel as one of the lead actors. Both with past they don't share. I look forward to reading the next book in the series

Pierce Her by Kelly Finley
Come for Me #1

New favorite author, I do believe! I love reading a new author’s work that hooks me and keeps me going to the very end and Ms Finley did just that!

What I liked:
* Charlie: strong, resilient, intelligent, ex-Marine, protector, security specialist, keeps women safe, scarred in more ways than one, has secrets, good friend, leader, I truly admired her and would love to have someone like her as a friend.
* Daniel: heart-throb, gorgeous, guarded, has secrets I really want to read about, romantic, dream worth, great book boyfriend, makes mistakes, loves deeply, intriguing…want to learn more about him and do hope he and Charlie can find the HEA they deserve…or I *think* they deserve
* The way Charlie takes her job so seriously – protecting women is her thing…big time
* The immediate chemistry between Charlie and Daniel
* The slow burn…and boy did they sizzle!
* The steamy bits…oh my!
* The strong friendships: Charlie and Rob, Charlie and Juliette, Anders family and both main characters, the one that developed between Charlie and Kierra…
* The way Charlie and Daniel communicated…for the most part very openly
* Wondering what is still being hidden by both main characters
* The glimpses into the backstories of both main characters…not all has been revealed but what has been gives a good idea about Charlie and Daniel
* Liking the main characters…
* The story telling Charlie did for Anders son – would love to hear it all someday ;)
* That the wounded veteran with PTSD was female instead of male and so worthy of having her story told
* The way the stalker was finally caught and hopefully dealt with
* Reading a new-to-me author that I thoroughly enjoyed the work of
* Knowing there is another book in the series to look forward to

What I didn’t like:
* The stalker…
* The pain both main characters suffered in this story and in their pasts
* Having to wait for the next book I the series

Did I enjoy this book? Yes
Would I read more in this series? Definitely!

Thank you to NetGalley and the author for the ARC – This is my honest review.

I fell in love with this book and these characters! Charlie is one of the most kick ass heroines I have ever read! Her strength is inspiring. And then there is Daniel. He draws you in and has you rooting for him. The plot is fast paced and the stalking case will keep you guessing and glued to the pages. There is so much going on here and it's a great build-up to what promises to be one of the best trilogies of the year. Definitely romantic suspense at its finest. I can't wait for the next book. March can hurry up!

3.5 STARS✨

Charlie is a tough, badass heroine with whom you will instantly fall in love. With each chapter, you gain a better understanding of her physical and emotional scars. I liked how she was the story's ongoing source of strength, not only for herself but also for others. She was the protagonist of this novel, and I admired both her past and present.

Daniel was an enigma to me. He is still that way. That's the thing: this narrative isn't ended yet, and I'm really looking forward to seeing what happens next.

This is a slow-burn book, but once the spice kicks in, it's on fire! But it was the suspense that drew me in. I enjoy a good suspense that I don't see coming, and this book did a great job of keeping me turning the pages.

This was a 2 page special excerpt, and I mean ONLY a 2 page special excerpt. I thought at first this had to be a mistake. I checked both my kindle download and the NetGalley app.

I requested this under the impression that this copy would be an ebook *including* an additional special excerpt. I have not read the full book, and as such I am not quite sure how to rate this. I am very intrigued by the premise (I love reading about celebrities/hollywood) and would really like to read the full book so that the excerpt (which I did read) makes a little more sense!
