No matter if you're a beginner or a long time member wherever your starting point is, this toolkit is designed to have everything you need to succeed.

Guidelines for creating your member Profile Tips for maintaining a strong Feedback Ratio, these pages are packed with advices and offers more than one could ask for.

If you have fewer books on your Shelf, consider this toolkit’s review section to brush up on tips for crafting book reviews even those tricky critical ones!

When you’re ready to share those reviews, this toolkit can help jumpstart your bookish social media platforms and offer suggestions for reviewing and creating content on social.

Totally met my expectations and this toolkit provided all the resources and necessary tips that I needed. To be honest, I don't think this book missed or left any part or steps undescribed.

This book is a must have and it's very helpful for all of us whoever is using NetGalley or thinking to start using it.

Highly recommended.

Read and reviewed voluntarily, opinions expressed here are unbiased and entirely my own.

Thank you @netgalley @wearebookish for the #arc in exchange for a honest review.

Although I’ve been a NetGalley reviewer from some years, I want to avoid being trapped in a rut. To that end, I downloaded NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit (again) and re-read it. It promises “tips for crafting book reviews—even those tricky critical ones!”; “tips for maintaining a strong Feedback Ratio”; and “suggestions for reviewing and creating content on social”.

Does it fulfil those promises? Yes. Does it tell me anything I couldn’t work out for myself? Ummm…. maybe not – and it does omit some things I can’t work out for myself…

The Toolkit seems to have by someone who assumes the readers will be from the same demographic. For example, it blithely tells us to use hashtags without actually explaining how hashtags work. I can see that I put a # sign in front of Camelcased words, but should I separate a list of them with commas, spaces or doesn’t it matter? Do all platform algorithms pick them up and give them equal weighting regardless of how they’re sprinkled in the text? Should I put them in the body of a NetGalley review or only put them in the subsequent keywords section? Do I need to put # in front of each keyword or will the NetGalley process add the # automatically?

The Toolkit tells me to “Avoid the request spree.” Understandable, but how many books is a spree? Five? Ten? Thirty? If a publisher looks at my shelf awaiting feedback, what do they consider: simply how many books I have to review? Do they consider all the pub dates and see that I can easily fit their book into my schedule?

The Toolkit is not self-contained. It often re-directs the reader to pages on the NetGalley website for more detail. I can understand why the authors have done this: it means they only have to maintain a web-page rather than a page and a document, but it does give the impression that the Toolkit itself is a little light on content.

Overall, I found about 10% of the Toolkit was actually useful this time round.

This book is a helpful guide for getting started on book reviews for NetGalley. The advice in this book about planning and organizing posts is helpful for book reviews, and the suggestions can be applied to other aspects of daily life, such as school assignments. The information in the book was organized, and it was easy to follow the instructions and tips. I enjoy the advice about not being pressured to sign up for numerous books at one time. I am currently busy with graduate school, so I do not have much time to review books. So I appreciate the advice about how not everything is about quantity and the quality of the review is more important. I will be consulting this book for my future book reviews.

A handy guide to getting started on Netgalley and requesting copies, as well as different social media platforms, setting up your account and posting.

I was really impressed by how up to date the Toolkit is, and the notes about making content accessible for everyone through captions and using Camel Case in hashtags.

This will be updated regularly according to the description, so definitely worth checking back on for more tips. Would absolutely recommend for those just starting out on their reviewing adventures, as well as those who've been doing it for a while and considering a revamp.

This is a good kit for those who are new to NetGalley and find it hard to get to grips with everything that's happening. It gives some good advice and tips on how to write reviews, what to include, including how to write a negative review and also some great tips about what platforms to begin reviewing on, introductions to Booktok, BookTube, etc.

This guide unfortunately didn't really teach me anything new. I'm a seasoned reviewer here on netgalley (been reviewing for many years) and I already knew all the tips that were in this guide. But it's great for beginners and I'm sure the newbie me would have enjoyed reading this. I do think there could have been more information or more detailed information on how important it is to keep your feedback ratio high, some more tips rather than just saying 'don't go on a requesting spree' which I might not have even understood when I was new. Other than that though it still seems a good little guide for beginners, although I was disappointed that there seemed to be many places that wanted me to click on a link, but there were no actual links in the book I was reading on the netgalley shelf app - not sure what's happening there.

So, I'm giving in a 3 as for beginners it's good but not so much for those like me who know our way around now.

This is a super helpful guide for newbies or veterans to NetGalley. I like the graphic design throughout this guide - it is accessible, easy to read, and thorough. I'd recommend anyone looking to get involved with the online book community (BookTok, BookTube, Bookstagram, etc) to also keep this guide handy. Thanks for putting this together, NetGalley!

NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit is a great little beginners guide by We Are Bookish that shows you how to be a book influencer and how to get started on NetGalley! Written well with helpful illustrations.

This has its positive and negative aspects. I think it is well laid out, helpful and contains quite a few details. I don't use most of the social media platforms included so I skipped over some pages but they seem like they'd be helpful for those using those platforms, or, more specifically, those trying to build up their presence on those platforms. I definitely will reference the section on leaving reviews as I tend to either leave short, couple sentences reviews OR long winded, thorough reviews. I have no in-between setting (lol)

Thank you to NetGalley and we are bookish for this toolkit I enjoyed reading through and will reference in the future as well.
