This is such a good book. I’ve been reviewing books for a while now (quite a few years) and sometimes it’s hard to know what to say. This book breaks down reviewing into easy steps. I loved the e top tips and could see the advice given, would be very useful for children in school as a guide to book reviewing. The layout was eye catching and very easy to follow.
I have been using NetGalley for about half a year now, and I consulted most of NetGalley's Help section when I started out. However, I must say it is very handy just to have this all laid out like this instead of having to click around the website to find the answers.
With checkboxes to ensure you are on the right track, this is a perfect interactive way to get your brain thinking. It also means you can print off the PDF pages to check the boxes too!
I feel NetGalley should automatically send new users this booklet as a compulsory booklet to read, and also means that they can have this book shelved after sending feedback so they already have the 100% feedback rate to begin browsing books of their choice.
This is a really nice toolkit to get people started with NetGalley and reviewing in general! There are a lot of great tips for how to write reviews, where to publish them, and some tips on review etiquette. I especially liked the information on starting book blogs or bookish accounts on social media such as Instagram and YouTube. I’ve thought about starting something like that as I have started to write more reviews myself, and there is good information here about how to get started!
This book is a great onboarding for reviewers new to NetGalley. I appreciated its helpful tips on how to get started on the website, and how to optimize personal social accounts for book reviews.
I recently opened a tiktok for both myself as a aspiring author, but also to share my reading recommendations. This guide is so helpful to help me figure out my path with this new account. Thank you for the toolkit. Can't wait to see more!!!
This is such a great document, a step by step guide explaining how to be successful with your NetGalley reviews. I learned so much from this document. It is set out so that it is easy to read and understand. It also gives great advice on how to succeed on Social Media platforms. Having just started a separate Bookstagram account this was very useful. Thank you NetGalley for another great guide.
This was a solid toolkit. There were a few tips I hadn't heard before, which was nice. The others served as good reminders.
I disagree on the bold and italics tip. Those font styles can be used in moderation with no problem of readability. Overuse is the issue with those (and all caps).
Overall, this was a good collection of social media tips for book reviewers.
This toolkit was very helpful! It gave me some great ideas about hashtags I should be using and where to find them for each book. I also got great ideas for how to format reviews. I also enjoyed the tips for each social media platform, Including picture taking and editing for bookstagram my main platform.
Would love each to get more toolboxes maybe dedicated to a certain topic or platform. This was really helpful for me as someone who has been doing this for a while, so I know it would be great for a new book reviewer who might not know where to start.
Resources like these should be posted somewhere easy to find on netgalley as well. I am interested to see what other resources are available!
This was a great toolkit for me to freshen up my ideas on how to write reviews and also provide additional resources for when I'm stuck on how to review something. I appreciated the different tips for all of the social media platforms as well, this is definitely something I'm working on as I am more of a story-sharer rather than making standalone posts for my bookishness. Thanks so much to NetGalley for all of the lovely supporting documents!
This was DETAILED. I was not expecting so much clear, concise information. What a great job, except that those Twitter references remain.
I feel like I read a previous version and it wasn't the document it is today. This made things so much more understandable for me, and I will likely be referring back to it over time.
Thank you Netgalley and We Are Bookish for this lovely guide to Get started on Netgalley. It's easy to follow instructions and love the illustrations. Its great to refer back to when you feel a bit stuck and makes a great addition to the other Netgalley /We are Bookish companions.
This is really helpful for beginners! It’s also good when your stuck on a review and gives helpful social media advice
This Book Advocate Toolkit has some great tips that will help newcomers to the platform. There is a wealth of information here on how to request books, writing reviews, and how to make social media accounts. Definitely some required reading for anyone new to book reviewing!
I found this to be very helpful since I am returning to use NetGalley. I needed an overview on how NetGalley works. I currently have more time to read and review. Thanks for providing this.
This guide is very beneficial for getting started. It has clear instructions to guide you through what to do and what not to do to create a successful book account on multiple platforms.
Thanks for putting this together! I really appreciate the advice! I learned about this resource as a part of camp netgalley 2024
This is a great guide that I didn’t find at first but wish that I had. It provides everything you need to know from choosing which social media platform, to using canva and how to use hashtags. It provides really clear instructions on how to help you succeed with your book account.
This is a very helpful guide to getting started that will help those that are new to reviewing on NetGalley and those that are wanting to start bookish accounts on social media. It’s making me reconsider a few ways I have things set up, and there were some new tools I had not heard of that I am going to check out.
Even though I've been using NetGalley for a few years, I still found this super helpful! Loved the information on taking better Instagram photos and how to use Canva. Also learned I should check publishers’ approval preferences to improve my chances.
It was very helpful. I have already consulted this a few times. I would suggest as a new member that you make clear in this book that as long as you download a book to your kindle you can still give feedback after the book's publication date and archive date, however. It saves people from making the mistake of pushing the will not give feedback button when they do not need to. Since I read the digital book format, I understand the audio book format may function differently. While it is ideal to do reviews in a timely manner, it's just helpful to know that even if you cannot or do not give feedback on those dates, you can still write a review and give feedback about the book or books. I never would have known this if not for seeing members discuss it and asking questions of my own. I have no problem with doing so i just think its vital information for members to have especially new ones.
