Netgalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is a comprehensive book on the do's and don't of reviewing a Netgalley ARC across multiple social media sites. It has clear and concise instructions and ideas for reviews. It is a good tool to have in a reviewer's back pocket.

As a newer reviewer myself, I can’t recommend this guide enough! Step by step it will take you through the do’s and dont’s of the online reviewing world. The format is clear, concise and catered to all platforms whether you are a Bookstagramer or a BookTok account. Please download this at the beginning of your NetGally journey, you will thank me later I promise!

I feel this guide should be automatically downloaded at the start of your NetGalley journey. A great resource at the start and great to go back and re-read too.

Being new to NetGalley this has proven to be an invaluable tool in helping to explain how it works as well as handy tips for creating the right type of profile.
It also explains the book ratio! I can see that it would be extremely easy to go on a ‘request a book rampage when you are new on here with all the wonderful books that need to be read, but this guide reminds you to only request as many as you can review in the time frame of the book, taking into account of publication days, all whilst keeping the reading ratio to an acceptable level to be granted access to the books.
I can see myself returning back to this guide as it helps on my NetGalley journey!

In your review, discuss if your expectations were met—did the kit provide the resources you needed? Was there something you felt was missing? Highlight the elements that you enjoyed, as well as content that was less useful to you. Close your review with an idea of who you believe would benefit from downloading this kit.

As a new reviewer at NetGalley, I have spent much of my first hours setting myself up for success. I thought that I was going to have to Google tips & tricks for getting started. You can imagine my surprise when I happened across an entire kit that NetGalley put together for people just like me!

I wasn't sure what to expect, and I was not disappointed. My current book reviewing is exclusively Goodreads, but this guide really got me thinking about the other outlets where I could share my love of books.

I appreciate that the guide truly starts from "square one" and makes no assumption that every reader has prior knowledge. The entire book has succient advice and helpful recommendations I hadn't even considered. Honestly the only criticism I can think of is the graphic design. Don't get me wrong - the fonts, text boxes, white space, and layout are great; but I'd would have like to have seen a more modern color pallete.

More specifically, the color pallete isn't bad, it just feels dated. Even though the text was update recently and includes relevant information the color pallete makes it seem out of date. Now I understand that the sage green is NetGalley's branding and that should be incorporated. Assuming that is kept, perhaps a less "pastel" version?

Now again, that is my only critique and does not at all take away from the quality of the content!

If you are brand new to NetGalley, I genuinely recommend adding this to your shelf!

Helpful, especially for how to review a book, which I'm not really good at, and being sent arcs of books helps me get better with that.

The guidelines provided in this book are invaluable. The review section is particularly helpful. It offers great advice for bookish social media platforms and creating engaging content. It's like having a personal guide; not only to NetGalley, but reviewing as a whole.

This should be sent in a welcome e-mail when signing up. I needed to be told "Avoid the request spree." 😂
