NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit helped me understand how to write a review and engage with audiences on other platforms. It contains everything you need to know about writing reviews, blogging, getting started on social media, and contacting publishers. The guide is very clear and informative and I reference it frequently.

This was a nice, quick, and informative way to get started on NatGalley, especially if you incorporate it with social media. It's not super in-depth, but it's a great starting point for beginners.

A huge help to those who are new to Netgalley! I appreciate this toolkit so much, as I have found the site a bit confusing to navigate. I think this colorful, easy-to-read new member guide is perfect for those who would like a walkthrough!

The book advocate toolkit is not what I expected. I thought it would have more tips on writing an effective review of an author's work, but it seems to be geared primarily for bloggers to promote the book on social media.
Also, my download did not allow me to click on the "more tips" section of each page. I tried it on the Netgalley app and my Kindle app on my android device.

I was hoping for a bit more information, didn't meet what I was looking for. I habe reached out to others to get what I was looking for.

Concise, practical and colourful.

I had been using NetGalley for a number of years, so I picked up this book to see if there was any useful tips I didn’t know about. Long story short, there wasn’t. However, I could see how this toolkit could be useful for new members.

The sections were nicely done - very clear and easy to follow. The only thing I didn’t quite agree with was the advice to only tag an Author when you had a glowing 5-star review for them. I’d agree that tagging Authors in bad reviews weren’t always necessary, but 3 and 4 stars are still good reviews! Plus, good Authors would want to know what readers thought would elevate the book from a good 3 or 4-star review to an amazing 5-star review.

All in all, great toolkit for newbies, less useful for regular users.

Mainly geared toward beginners, I realized that I was also guilty of some of the more "egregious" don'ts. So with that in mind, I proceeded to rephrased my more rant-filled phrases, and removed the author links from my negative reviews.

As a seasoned reviewer, I have to admit that I viewed the direction to remove quotes rather suspiciously. While I understand the reasoning provided, most of my criticism tends to be related to writing style. And let's face it: giving an actual example of a quote is much more useful, than trying to describe it.

One of the more unpleasant revelations had to be related to the periodic profile update. There has to be a better way of measuring a user's activity level: how about last login? Or even last login session that lasted at least 10 minutes? As it is, this feels like some for of cheating to me.

This is a useful reviewing guide for newcomers to NetGalley. As a refresher for long-time members though, it was mostly disappointing.

The NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit is an explanation of how to use NetGalley to it's fullest potential.

It had info for all sorts of reviewer types, such as bookstagrammers, booktubers, bloggers, and booktokers.

This guide was really helpful to understand a little of how NetGalley works and the best practices that make reviewers successful on the platform.

I also appreciated the section on accessibility and will be incorporating that into my bookstagram from now on.

Thank you NetGalley!

I have been writing professionally for the LGBTQ community for 15 years, covering all kinds of pop culture, every week, every day, and this little kit taught me so much I didn't know about the inner workings of the book world. Great tips! And I wouldn't have tanked my feedback ratio out of the gate if I'd read it when I first joined NetGalley!
