As a newer member to the NetGalley review team I found this guide to be helpful. There are many great tips and hashtag tricks that I will start to incorporate into my reviews. After reading this guide I have a better understanding of how the selection process works. One tip I found most helpful is to keep updating your profile here on NetGalley as your numbers of reviews and followers increase. I read hundreds of books a year, but just started leaving reviews the second half of 2022.
I wish I had this toolkit from the beginning.of my NetGalley journey. I have learned some valuable lessons from this. I really appreciate how supportive NetGalley is in providing resources to help you be more successful in your reviews. I am thankful to NetGalley for providing me with this copy of their Book Advocate Toolkit. I am leaving this review here voluntarily and hope it will help others.
As someone who is just getting started with reviewing books this was immensely helpful! There are a lot of tips in here that I used when completing my first review and I'm sure I will reference this over and over again to make sure I'm making my reviews and clear and effective as possible!
Thank you for suppling this tool to your users! Because I'm just starting off on Netgally, I found the information in this document to be incredibly useful, such as how to write reviews, things to keep in mind when writing reviews, and the free app tips for posts like using Canva.
Quick summary of tips, ideas, and hints on where and how to publish/share book reviews. It's a handy guide but not a detailed instruction book. There are links for more tips that I did not follow, (I don't like following links in books) at least not yet. When I want to incorporate those ideas into my blog/reviews, then I will go back to those links.
I really enjoyed all of the tips that this toolkit provided to help me grow my platform, and to give books and authors the feedback they deserve!
A really good toolkit to help you get started or better understand the different ways you can talk about books online.
Great tips on how to use NetGalley and get your account rolling. This includes how to use the site, how social media plays into this, and how to optimize your reviews on the platform and on social media.
As a newish NetGalley user, this pdf was very helpful. Everything was organized well and in a way that wasn’t overwhelming. Great place to start for reviewers or refresh for veterans of reviews.
I have been using Netgalley on and off for about a year now, and this would have been a perfect first book to read when I was starting out. I wish it was suggested as the first book for readers to review to practice their Netgalley skills.
Using easy-to-read graphics, this 30-ish page PDF gives you the ins and outs of what it means to be a book reviewer online. It provides overviews of different platforms, as well as how to establish yourself as a book personality and how to gain popularity on each platform. It should be understood that the tips are fairly surface level, because just for instagram alone (for example) you could have a 30-page PDF explaining how to be a bookstagrammer.
The tips I found most helpful from this book are the explicit instructions about your ratio and what a publisher is likely looking for. I was guilty of a requesting spree at the beginning of my Netgalley journey and realized too late what I had done. My ratio is now something I have been working to correct over months of reading. I give 4 instead of 5 stars because this is fairly surface level, in all honesty, and is best suited to people who are super brand new to book reviewing. If you are new to Netgalley or book reviews, this is a must-read to provide you baseline information!
I just reviewed NetGalley's Book Advocate Toolkit by We Are Bookish. #BookAdvocateToolkit #NetGalley I love this new idea of a toolkit to help with my reviews. I have trouble sometimes putting into words what I am thinking. This will come on very handy.
This was an extremely helpful document! It helped me revamp my profile and better understand what publishers are looking for. Hoping the changes I made will help me out in 2023!
Loved this quick guide to using NetGalley and getting started as a book reviewer and blogger. I am particularly interested in posting more reviews on YouTube, so I was happy to see Booktube include along with Bookstagram, Booktok, and Facebook.
The book is pretty exhaustive and covers everything you could need to work with NetGalley. Highly useful.
Short, concise, comprehensive and relevant! This Toolkit provides a great overview for anyone interested in writing and sharing book reviews. Tips on setting up a NetGalley profile and the dissection of the various social media platforms are particularly helpful. Although I was already aware of the need for disclosure when obtaining an ARC, it was useful to be reminded to tag NetGalley and the publisher when posting the review to social media. I was unaware that there is a weekly “NetGalley Checklist Email” and I suggest adding a link or more detail on how to sign up for this service. There is so much useful information in this small 32 page package that there’s something for anyone who uses NetGalley. I recommend it to all!
I appreciate that this Toolkit exists. There are a lot of good tips listed that cover a variety of topics from how to set up social media profiles to tips on hashtags and how to make graphics. While I was already familiar with some of the topics, I was introduced to different perspectives which I can utilize in my reviews. I’ll definitely be returning to NetGalley’s Book Advocate Toolkit from time to time and I recommend it for anyone who wants to up their review game.
i will keep this as a reference, it's very helpful and illustrative. thank you for all these tips! <3
