Four twenty somethings meet taking summer jobs on Nantucket and have a reunion twenty some odd years later with their children. The book alternates with summer then and summer now. I will be recommending this book for sure.

Perfect book for summer. This book feels like you are on the island with the characters as they navigate friendship and love. You meet 2 generations of characters as their lives intertwine as they explore who they really are and what is important in life.

Alternating between past/present summers, this book tells the story of 4 friends who meet and then reunite on Nantucket 25 years later. A little predictable, but a fun, quick read. The author transports you to summer on Nantucket - a great read for your beach bag!

This book was just ok for me. The best part probably was the cover! It was just so so and kind of predictable.

Summer Love by Nancy Thayer was an enjoyable book about four young adults who meet as they come to Nantucket to find summer employment. Two girls and two guys have individual rooms in the basement of a run-down motel that is being renovated. They work at different places on the island and come to know each
other better when they are not working. They have a reunion twenty-five years later, with some spouses and children, and discover where their lives have led and the ways that summer's experiences affected each of them. They also have some new experiences together that will affect several of the group into the future. It was an enjoyable, easy read with well-developed characters. Finished this ARC up today. I always love these books set in Nantucket but I’m still stewing about whether I liked any of these characters. Four friends meet in Nantucket 25 years ago and come back together for a Nantucket reunion in present day. Light quick read for Nantucket fans.

‘Summer Love’, by Nancy Thayer is a perfect beach read. Set in Nantucket, the story outlines a tale of four young adults who experience, love and adventure while working on the island during the summer of 1995 ( referred to as That Summer). The story then depicts their reunion twenty-five years later (referred to at This Summer). Nancy Thayer’s characters are engaging and well developed. A great addition to any beach bag.

Four recent college grads go to Nantucket to work for the summer. They live together in a dilapidated hotel. Twenty five years later they come together with their families for a reunion at the same hotel which one of them now owns and has refurbished. Thayer tells these stories in parallel time lines with alternating chapters which I liked. This is a cozy read but not a whole lot happens. The opportunity for a sequel is definitely there. I’d change the title to The Sand Palace as the story really revolves around the hotel. I thank the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this ARC.

Nancy Thayer is a perennial summer author - Every May /June she'll write another Nantucket summer beach read (Seriously, how many books by two great authors can one island spawn????) I thought the 2021 offering was... meh, but I seriously could not put this one down. Not because of the "oldies" because they are all flawed (Nick is all surface, Ariel doesn't have a spine, Wyatt is the odd duck and has Peggy ever heard of diabetes?), but I found their children to be better versions of their parents. I needed to know how everything turned out. Ending is a little too pat, but a perfect lighthearted fluffy summer read.

Wow, I loved this book so much! A fun story of 4 friends who find themselves together in a run down hotel for the summer and form life long friendships. I love that it takes place in two different time periods, in their 20's and then as grown ups with kids of their own. The description of the island and hotel made me feel like I was there. Overall just the perfect summer read!

I hate to say it, but I was a little disappointed in this book. The characters all fell a little flat for me and everything was just a little too predictable. With that said, I wasn’t expecting anything too deep and thoughtful and I did enjoy it. Very fast read with enjoyable moments.

A sparkling escape to summertime on Nantucket. In this love letter to her island, Nancy Thayer has created a sunny beach read following four young adults coming of age over a summer on Nantucket and, 25 years later, a reunion of those individuals and three of their twenty-something offspring. From its first pages, this book transports the reader on an entertaining journey around Nantucket. The island is the primary protagonist here, and Ms. Thayer’s descriptions are so lush and vivid I could practically feel the sand, surf and warm sunshine and see the cobblestone streets of Nantucket town, the rose-covered cottages in ‘Sconset, the majestic whaling ship captains’ homes on Upper Main Street, the moors, the lighthouses….Of course there’s plenty of summer lovin’, as the title suggests, but those tales were by and large predictable and underdeveloped, and seemed to me to serve more as a vehicle to showcase the island. Though this is a light, quick read, Ms. Thayer does contrast the extreme economic/lifestyle differences among the super wealthy populating the isle during the summers, the year round natives and washashores, and the seasonal workers. I was disappointed, however, by the lack of diversity among the characters, particularly since the work force on Nantucket is in actuality richly diverse, with a large concentration of Jamaicans and folks hailing from other parts of the Caribbean and Central and South America, among other diverse residents. Still, I am now daydreaming of a trip to Nantucket in July. Many thanks to NetGalley and to Ballantine Books for providing me an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is a nice summer read. I generally like Thayer’s books, but this had so much that was predictable, so it was a disappointment. This is a reunion of 4 friends who shared a beautiful summer. Twenty five years later, with ADULT children in tow, they reunite in Nantucket. I think the reader can take it from there.

Nancy Thayer is one of my go-to authors for delightful summer reads and Summer Love yet again fits the bill.

I love Nantucket so it's always a joy to escape there via her books and I really loved the world building that Ms. Thayer did with Summer Love, it's fun to 'see' Nantucket then and now and the comparisons between the two, even if it's a fictional take.

While I wanted to LOVE the characters, Sheila drove me batty. I just wish that she had more something? I don't know what it was but it was hard to root for her in this book. I did like how older Sheila handled Penny though.

Overall it was an easy beachy read which will be ideal for upcoming summer trips for many!

A beautiful Nantucket setting and an engaging story that embraces two generations make this the perfect book for summer readers. I look forward to recommending this title, especially to those who enjoy books by Mary Alice Monroe, Elin Hilderbrand, Mary Kay Andrews, Kristan Higgins, and Susan Mallery.

Old friends come together at the luxury hotel the most successful one owns with young adult children in two-completely predictable in some ways but absolutely surprising in other. Definitely a great start to the summer beach reads!

Nancy Thayer paints a perfect picture of summer on Nantucket. This story of 4 strangers who come to the island to work, leave as lovers and friends. Fast forward and they reunite and bring their families. I liked the story but at times it felt rushed to get everyone’s viewpoints explained. I’d love to see a sequel about their kids who continue the tradition of working on Nantucket for the summer. Thank you Netgalley for the ARC.
