The first book in Dahlia Adler’s Radleigh University series, Last Will and Testament, doesn’t shy away from the drama. From the opening scene, through the many adjustments this young woman faces, to the bitter end, nothing goes as Lizzie expects.
I commend Dahlia Adler for tackling many difficult issues, and not shying away or taking the easy way out. Lizzie has a lot of heart, and Last Will and Testament is one heck of a rollercoaster ride.
The audio is nicely performed by Samantha Summers.
Looking for a captivating audiobook to get you hooked on listening an amazing 10-hour story about college students, romance, college life, and drama (and I mean lots of drama., then check this awesome romance.
This book had potential, but it was never realized. I enjoyed the interactions between Lizzie and Connor, but their relationship was a little too hot and cold. Connor was constantly pushing Lizzie away and then declaring his love for her. Also, Lizzie's adversary relationship with Sophie was too extreme for me. Sophie was cartoony evil, and what she was willing to do for revenge went too far for me. Plus, the strongest part of the book, Lizzie's relationship with her brothers, came across like an afterthought. This book had an interesting premise, but the execution didn't work for me.
This book threw me for a loop! I didn't expect the protagonist Lizzie to be such a strong young woman. But we find out that there is a lot of hurt behind Lizzie strength. There is also just a teen girl who like many, make poor decisions that they later have to learn from.
Is she too young to take on the major responsibility of raising her brothers while still grieving the loss of her parents?
Lizzie's relationship with her TA Connor helps open her up emotionally and allows her to be more vulnerable but is he ready to fully commit to her giving her new circumstances?
While these life changing events are going on a scorned woman will seek to reek havoc in Lizzie's life.
Overall this was a really good listen and the narration was excellent.
The drama in this read keeps this book entertaining. I didn’t really connect with any of the characters sadly. It is a sad story of loss with a big splash of romance. I think the narrator did a great job. This book just wasn’t for me. The cover is what drew me in and i do prefer this cover to its original. Thank you to the publisher and to NetGalley for the opportunity to listen in exchange for a review.
I really enjoyed this book! It was such a rollercoaster ride - I will say there are death of parents and that might be triggering for some readers. Lizzie has to handle the unbearable. She's in college and find out her parents have tragically died, and now she has guardianship over her two younger brothers. Even more so, she's failing her classes, has a sorority b*tch that hates her and is out for revenge, and....a crush on her TA.
This book had plenty of moments that were sad, but it also had some great spice as Lizzie and Conor explore their relationship. I really enjoyed this book - the ending was unexpected but it worked out!
Thank you NG for the early look!
Last Will and Testament is the first in the Radleigh University series. This is the first book I've read by this author but will not be my last. I enjoyed meeting the characters and much of the story reminds me of many of the college students I work with. The story is well developed and the characters are likable despite being deeply flawed. The story moves quickly and I couldn't stop listening. I can't wait to read book 2!
Thank you, NetGalley for the ALC of this book.
It was an enjoyable read but I honestly thought I would love it more. The romance is fine - Lizzie and Connor's personalities complement each other well, especially at that stage of Lizzie's life where she really needed someone she could depend on and ask for support when she needed it. Ofcourse, the obvious block in that road is that he is her TA so they try to deal with that in the story too and keep their relationship under the wraps for a while. The narration was also good!
I absolutely loved this book. As soon as I finished it, I went out looking for the other Radleigh College books (that follow Kait and Frankie, respectively). As soon as this book starts, it jumps straight into the story's main plot, and it takes no account for anyone's feelings. It's immensely sad from the get-go. What Dahlia Adler does really incredibly though is to allow for the full range of emotions. There's melancholy, joy, confusion, confidence, anger - it's all there. At first, I was a bit put-off by the TA/student relationship, but it really isn't horrible because the student is of-age. They're both college students, just at different levels. I love a healthy relationship, and I really felt that Connor was trustworthy and lovely.
My biggest (not quite) problem with the book was trying to figure out where Tyler and Max were every time Lizzie's running around. I'm not a mom or I don't take care of kids like that, but it felt so odd that they'd be left alone so often. But maybe that's just me growing up sheltered.
But overall, I love love loved the book, I thought the narrator was great, and I'll just keep reading Dahlia Adler forever.
Looking for a captivating audiobook to get you hooked on listening an amazing 10-hour story about young adults, romance, college life, and drama (and I mean lots of drama)? If you checked all the criteria, then make sure to listen to “Last Will and Testament”, now available in audio format!
If the title sounds familiar, that’s because the printed book came out in 2014 and I honestly don’t know why it took so long to get it in audio format. it’s easy to follow, the characters are well balanced, the storyline is at a fair pace and there’s a catch at the end! The only aspect that could have been “less” and by that I mean, the 4/5 stars reason is the amount of swearing. It was a bit more than what I expected, but hopefully it tuned down in the next books, which I hope will become available as ARC listening soon!
Special thanks to NetGalley, OrangeSky Audio, and the author for giving me the opportunity to review the ARC in audiobook format and to you, my reader, for taking the time to read this honest personal book review.

Not going to lie, I didn't enjoy this book when I first started it. It was hard to get into and connect with the characters. Once her TA was introduced and was helping her out... I instantly fell in love! The main character (Lizzie) struggles with going from a college sophomore to a mom of 2 kids when her and her siblings lost their parents in a car crash. She quickly has to learn how to balance her life of being a single mom and a college student. Some days are good and a lot of days are rough. Me being a parent I can relate to the rough times even though I'm not a single mom.
Lizzie Brandt is just your typical freshman in college. However, when Lizzie suddenly becomes the guardian of her two younger brothers after her parents death, her college lifestyle gets flipped upside down.
In a typical forbidden love style, Lizzie is challenged to tackle her school work, her brothers, and of course, the budding relationship of her TA Connor.
Full of self discovery and a few steamier moments, Last Will and Testament shared a story of overcoming tragedy and leaning on those we love most.
I am curious to see if there ends up being a sequel to this novel, and to find out what happens with Lizzie and Connor!
This was the most frustrating read I have come across in a while. The first half was really interesting. I felt a connection to Lizzie immediately upon hearing about her Filipino mother and was devastated for her when she found out her family had been killed, until she didn’t seem devastated her family had been killed. She seemed more upset that she had to raise her brothers, which is fine; we all process grief differently. But then it becomes this horrifying story about her playing games and acting childish with her professor/TA and just not worth reading anymore. I gave up at about 50% because she turned into this train wreck that I couldn’t stomach anymore.
I enjoyed the overall pot of the book. It was an easy listen and enjoyable throughout. It was occasionally predictable, but felt that was to be expected given my thoughts going into it. One thing I do think would have been addressed more was their initial mourning of their parents. Overall would recommend for a quick easy read.
Really loved this story. I was hooked from the beginning. I especially thought that the narrator was a really great match for Lizzie's voice. A little bit angsty, but completely lovable at the same time. I love romance, but don't venture into the New Adult genre very often, but this was a great one to pull me into New Adult. Lizzie was young, but was given way more responsibility than she bargained for, which means she is forced to act older than she is...and I think that helped for me to relate to her more as someone who has matured beyond the New Adult genre.
While I did really enjoy her relationship with Connor, her relationship with her brothers was my favorite relationship in this story. I loved the way Lizzie connected with them while still facing some of their rebellion from the pain they were feeling. I loved the way Connor connected with them too. Basically any time Lizzie's brothers were around, I was smitten.
The story is fine. The writing is fine. Unfortunately, the main character is annoying. Her relationship with her brothers does not read true at all. My children are the same ages and genders as the 3 siblings in this book and nothing about the way they interact with each other seems realistic.
The book doesn't really seem to delve into the grief of children who lose parents, instead just using it as a gimmick to get her together with her TA. I was hoping for something more like The Guncle, but this is just a below average YA romance with a little side of tragedy thrown in for flavour
Wow that was cute. I enjoyed this book coming to life in an audiobook version. Very fun and youthful!
This book was really good! I found the characters to be relatable in the best ways and the relationship to be genuinely sweet!

I would rate this book 5/5 stars. Oh my GOODNESS !!! Dahlia Adler is very quickly becoming an instant-read author for me. I saw her name and immediately requested access to an ARC of this audiobook. THERE IS GOOD WHOLESOME SPICE THAT I ABSOLUTELY LOVED. Lizzie and Connor are just *chef’s kiss*. I love how three-dimensional the main characters in the book are. It was refreshing to get to see a character start a book doing some shady shiz le wiz and grow from it throughout the course of the book. Lizzy is such a loving but sassy and messy girly. I could tell that at her core she had such love to give. She is fiercely protective of her brothers and while she struggles to take on the caretaker role, she gives it her all. And Connor. Ugh. What a cinnamon roll of a man. Love that guy.
NYPL or my local library needs to get this book and the rest of the series ASAP because I so badly want to be able to read them all.
Thank you OrangeSky Audio and NetGalley for giving me access to an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Loved this book! I found the characters to be very likable and the perfect amount of steam that you look for in a romance. I did find some of the push and pull of their relationship to be repetitive in the beginning but it got so much better towards the end. I didn’t want the book to end!
