Thrilling novel of a missing 3 year old that sucks you in right from the beginning. It is told by multiple point of views and the author does a great group of keeping you guessing throughout the book.
Millie leave her daughter Millie home with her Step daughter Shelby to go run errands and before she even gets home she receives a panicked phone call from Shelby. Millie is missing and everyone has their secrets, but are any of them connected to Millie’s kidnapping?!
This was a fast paced story that kept you on the edge of your seat. A few of the parts I thought were a little repetitious but the story as a whole was good and it had some good twists and turns. When little Millie "runs away" while her older stepsister is babysitting the whole town is in search of her. But her sister isn't telling the whole story and all of the characters seem to have secrets. What really happened to Millie?
This one did not disappoint! The writing is incredible, the twists are always unexpected, and I am still thinking about the ending days later. Would definitely recommend!
A good read

Wow
I read this book back in April, it's taken me ages to write this review. I loved this book I read it in a few days I had no idea where the story would lead and I loved the twists. Its definitely one I would recommend 👍
I received this book from NetGalley in return for a review.
I enjoyed the suspense of this book, trying to figure out as I read what could have happened to Millie. I found this to be a fast paced read and had trouble making myself put it down in when I needed to.
This is my first Nicole Trope book and it didn't disappoint. Very cleverly written, an easy read, with many twists throughout. Kept me guessing until the last chapter, just when I thought I had figured out the plot twisted again and again. Great character development and a story of love, hurt and redemption. Will definitely be reading her other books, highly recommended author.
I really enjoyed this book. While there were some twists that i could foresee, it kept me guessing most of the times.
I loved the theme of the book. The book is told through three viewpoints: Shelby, Ruth and Leonie. I didn't like Leonie's POV much compared to the other two but there were times it was really interesting.
I have read other books by Nicole Trope and I have found she's an author I can depend on to tell a good story.
I love this author. This book lived up to the hype of past Nicole Trope novels for me. I would recommend to a friend who needs a quick intense read!
I enjoyed this book. It had a lot of good twists at the end so even though I did ultimately guess the big twist before the end there were still some smaller twists and details that were a surprise to me. I wish some of the characters were a little more developed and at times I felt the writing was a bit juvenile, but overall a decent thriller that I'd recommend to most people who enjoy thrillers. Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
When three-year-old Millie goes missing there are more questions than answers. As the search for Millie gets underway, it appears as though twelve-year-old Shelby, Millie’s half-sister, is responsible for Millie’s disappearance. Is Shelby telling the truth about what happened? Did Millie simply just walk out the front door while Shelby was in the bathroom or did something more sinister happen?
This amazing thriller is told from three different perspectives: Leslie, Shelby, and Ruth. Figuring out who Ruth is and how she fits into the story kept me on the edge of my seat reading. Each character had something they were hiding, and Leslie Trope did an excellent job revealing their secrets, a little at a time. The ending where we find out what really happened to Millie was shocking. I didn’t see it coming. I can’t wait to read more from Leslie Trope!
Shelby should have taken care of her 3 years old step-sister, Millie, but she is gone now, missing and stepmom Leslie does not believe anything she is saying.
A gripping thriller.
Thank you Netgalley for this n8ce book.
Leslie goes shopping, leaving her 3 year old daughter, Millie, in the care of her step-daughter, Shelby. When she receives a panicked phone call saying that Millie is missing, she races home and realises quickly that things are not as clear as they seem. But in this story, nobody is out of the frame of guilt.
We piece together the story by listening to Leslie, Shelby and a stranger, Ruth. I found Ruth's voice particularly moving and really felt that her emotional distress came through clearly.
This book draws you in quickly and doesn't let you go until you finish! With a cleverly crafted plot and interesting, relatable characters I think it will do very well!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for my ARC.
This was not your traditional thriller in the sense that it wasn't twist after twist. While it did have a few, this focused more on the emotions and repercussions of the act, rather than the act itself. I loved the three different viewpoints and how they all came together. I loved the focus on family and what it means. There is quite a bit about sexual abuse of minors so steer clear if you don't want to read about that but there's no graphic descriptions. I found it tastefully done. This was a well-written, thought provoking book with a satisfying ending.
Absolutely gripped by the story. The twists the book took were simply astounding as the author had laid down multiple red herrings and I was truly caught in them. I loved how author Nicole Trope had synchronized the actions of all her characters that they appeared smooth, but later on, had the ability to be interpreted in a different manner.
This was a well thought of plot line where the already-done-many-times had a seamless way of telling a truth that was not evident to the naked eyes. The complexities of a pre-teen child caught in the middle of an acrimonious divorce, having to spend time with both families and getting caught in an inescapable situation were well explored. The foundation of the story laid down initially were written in such a way that I couldn't even begin to guess what the truth could be. Was she? Wasn't she? My mind swung like a pendulum at the hints that was given in the prose.
A well-etched storyline where the dark twists popped up unexpectedly every few pages, leaving me in the throes of suspenseful ecstasy.
This is another excellent psychological thriller from the talented Nicole Trope. The story is told from three perspectives, Leslie, Shelby and Ruth and they’re all good. Their different emotions come across very strongly and you feel their pain, guilt and so on. All the characters are good but the standout is Ruth and understanding how she fits in and is integral is fascinating. Her portrayal makes you feel a whole range of emotions. There’s everything from panic, to guilt to damage. There’s so much tension at times you could cut the atmosphere with a knife and much of that surrounds the different and powerful dynamics.
Will keep you on the edge of your seat! What do you do when your 3-year-old child is missing, and your stepdaughter is lying about it? You do anything you can to get your daughter back. Edge of the earth. Expect the unexpected in this story told from three points of view!
The words from the book blurb sum this book up perfectly which I quote herewith "A pulse-pounding psychological thriller about family secrets, shocking pasts and the lies we tell ourselves in order to survive" . I couldn't have described it any better if I tried.
It was truly well written and the characters all well developed. I was literally captivated by the story from start to finish. The story does deal with some sensitive difficult topics which some readers may find upsetting but I truly feel that the author has done very well in the telling of such a story as this.
The story is told from the perspective of three different characters, the mother Leslie, the stepchild Shelby and the the stranger Ruth, I liked that it was done that way as it bought different things to the story and let’s you get to know each of the characters individually.
Nicole Trope is fast becoming one of my favourite go to authors, I will definitely be looking forward to reading more books by this author in the future.
I think this is every parents worst nightmare. Right from the start, Nicole managed to grip the readers and keep their attention the whole way through the book.
It was written so spectacularly that I was in a book hangover for quite a while after reading this. I enjoyed the differing POV's I felt it added to the story and allowed the reader to get a side of each person speaking, more in-depth. I found myself questioning nearly every character and always thinking I knew who it as but Nicole never gave it away - I was wrong almost every time!
Highly recommend! Thank you to Nicole Trope and Netgalley for allowing me this ARC.
As always this was a great read from Nicole Trope, but didn't thrill as much as some of her previous books for some reason. But still really good.
