I enjoyed the author's previous books and I couldn't pas the opportunity to read her latest story.
A story told in multiple pov, with a great mix of characters and trails, a lot of secrets and hidden stories, the author has created a perfect tale of family and friends where trusting any of the characters is out of discussion.
Trust no one, add all the small clues that may not make any sense to you in the beginning and be prepared to be shocked by the conclusion. Because I was and I really didn't see that coming.
Very grateful to the publisher for my review copy
Thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!
The Party at Number 12 by Kerry Wilkinson is an unputdownable thriller with an ending that you won't see coming! The story revolves around Hannah, who is throwing a get-together to celebrate her leaving and going abroad to travel. Invited are several women from her family and close friends. As the party goes on, bitter rivalries, jealousies, and fights from the past stir up. Then, a woman is found dead. How could this have happened? And how will the other guests react?
Here is a chilling excerpt from an opening chapter:
"'She's not breathing,' Dawn said.
'Who?'
Hannah crept along the corridor, edging deeper into the darkness.
'She's blue,' Dawn whispered. 'No blue, maybe grey...'
Hannah's aunt stepped to the side, allowing her free passage into the bedroom beyond.
'She's not moving,' Dawn added. 'I said her name but she won't reply.' There was another pause and then Dawn said it again: 'I think she's dead.'
Overall, The Party at Number 12 is a domestic thriller that you will appeal to fans of B.A. Paris or Kiersten Modglin. One highlight of this book is the ending, which I truly did not see coming. I had some guesses based on the hints that the author left in the story, but I wasn't suspecting the reveal at all. The ending was satisfying in that it was surprising, but also because it made sense. If I had to complain about 1 thing, I would say that having a party of 6-7 women was perhaps too many, and I had trouble keeping track of who was related to who at the beginning. I eventually got the hang of things though. If you're intrigued by the excerpt, or if you're a fan of domestic thrillers in general, I highly recommend that you check out this book, which is available now!
This was just OK with me. Lots of characters, but nothing develops with most of them. Overly long with lots of extraneous description. Lots of red herrings, but I guessed the ending. You might enjoy this if you like parties go wrong scenarios, but this was not the best of its kind,
A leaving party turns into a mystery when one of the guests turns up dead.
Hannah is about to take off for parts unknown, spending her small inheritance on travel and self-discovery. Her family and close friends are invited to a get together that will be a tame evening with a few drinks, some board games, and a sleepover. Unfortunately, the dynamics between the attendees are skewed from their shared pasts and the night turns ugly.
This was a real slow burner that never really burst into flaming excitement for me. I kept waiting for some tension and thrill, but neither materialized. The suspension of disbelief required sets a high bar as the characters behaved in ways that defied sense. I never felt any large concern for any of them and Hannah seemed a limp biscuit. The conclusion, when it finally came, was rushed and explained to some extent in the final chapter. I usually like books by this author, but this one was a disappointment.
Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for the e-book ARC to read and review.
I don’t think Kerry Wilkinson can write a bad book. Another brilliant twisty turny tale from this master of storytelling. So many twists that your head will spin and such a well hidden villain.
A group of friends go to a house party for Hannah who’s about to go traveling, only the next morning one of them is dead. As the story unravels we not only find the murderer but delve into a myriad of complex relationships and flawed characters. Brilliant stuff

Review for 'The Party At Number 12' by Kerry Wilkinson.
Read and reviewed via NetGalley for Kerry Wilkinson, Bookouture publishers and Bookouture anonymous
Publication date 11th March 2022.
This is the third book I have read by this author. I have previously read 'The Child Across The Street' and 'The Child In The Photo' which I would also recommend reading.
I was originally drawn to this book by its eye catching cover and its intriguing synopsis and title. The synopsis stated that this book is 'An absolutely unputdownable thriller that won’t let you sleep until you’ve reached the final page! Perfect for fans of Lisa Jewell, The Hunting Party and Shari Lapena.' I am a huge fan of Lisa and Shari so am looking forward to seeing if this lives up to this statement. I am also a huge fan of Kerry and if this is as good as 'The Child Across The Street' and 'The Child In The Photo' it is sure to be an excellent read. I must admit I was also biased due to the publisher being Bookouture. I have yet to read a book published by Bookouture that I haven't enjoyed. Hopefully this won't be the first... Watch this space! (Written before I started reading the book).
This novel consists of a prologue and 45 chapters spread over 3 'sections'. The chapters are short to medium in length so possible to read 'just one more chapter' before bed...OK, I know yeah right, but still just in case!
This book is based in England, UK 🇬🇧. The bonus for me of books that are partly or fully based in the UK is that I live in the UK and have sometimes visited places mentioned in the book which makes it easier to picture. I have actually visited England on several occasions so am looking forward to seeing if I recognise anywhere that Kerry has based the book on.
This book is written in third person perspective and the main protagonists are Hannah and Zack. The benefits of third person perspective with multiple protagonists are that it let's you see the bigger picture of what's going on and you get to know more characters more, what they are thinking and what they are doing. It feels like you get to see the whole picture and not miss out in anything.
Well, well, well Wow!!! What an absolute cracker of a book!!! This book sucked me straight in from beginning to the explosive ending. It was very well written with excellent descriptions which put me straight into the storyline. The blog and the cover suited the book perfectly.
WHAT THE HOLY SMOKES DID I JUST READ!!! ABSOLUTELY GOBSMACKED!!!
The storyline was fast paced and filled with drama, lies, twists, family, shocks, deceit and suspense. A sadly and scarily very believable storyline which kept me on edge throughout. I loved all the twists and turns and throughout it kept me guessing what was going on and who was doing what. I would NEVER have guessed at the ending so a MASSIVE WELL DONE to Kerry . I have read many thrillers and it's getting harder and harder for me to be surprised so great job there. I loved the storyline and just loved everything about it. It was all done perfectly!! I loved the fact that everything was tied up and explained at the end and there were no loose strings. An absolutely addictive page turner that kept my heart in my throat on the edge of the seat and absolutely absorbed me. The fact there were so many different red herrings and so many possibilities that all would have worked perfectly and then the absolutely EXPLOSIVE ending that there was no way I would have ever expected was absolutely fantastic!!! I could not put this book down!!! I was so invested in the storyline that I was up until 2am!! I would LOVE to see this turned into a movie!!!
It is set over multiple time lines. When books show what has happened in the past and what is happening in the present I find it really helps the reader (if it is well done) understand why things are happening and what has lead to the present activities and decisions. It also shows the bigger picture.
WARNING ⚠ DO NOT START THIS UNTIL YOU HAVE CLEARED YOUR SCHEDULES AS THIS BOOK IS ADDICTIVE!!!!
THE characters were fantastic, solid and completely believable, or are they?? You just have no idea who to trust and wow was I blindsighted! They all had such different and strong personalities and all suited the storyline perfectly. I really liked Hannah , she had such a strong personality and my heart really went out to her as all she wanted was a nice send off with family and friends and deep down she wanted to become the three musketeers again along with Sophie and Katherine. There were such a mix of personalities in number 12 and its hard really to say too much about any of them without giving too much away!!! My mind was absolutely blown when I discovered what really happened and yours will be too!!
CONGRATULATIONS KERRY ON YET ANOTHER ABSOLUTELY ADDICTIVE PAGE TURNER!!!! THIS IS WHY YOU ARE ONE OF MY TOP 5 MALE AUTHORS!!! HERE'S TO YOUR NEXT SUCCESS 🥂
Overall a compelling, page turning, mind blowing psychological thriller that will keep you up late at night.
Genres covered in this novel include Thriller, Mystery, Suspense, Psychological Thriller, Noir Fiction, Psychological Fiction, Police Procedural and Crime Fiction amongst others.
I would recommend this book to the fans of the above as well as fans of Lisa Jewell, Shari Lapena, C. L TAYLOR and anyone looking for a book with a twist they will never suspect!!!
349 pages.
This book is just 99p to purchase on kindle via Amazon or free on kindle unlimited (at time of review) which I think is an absolute bargain for this book!!!
Rated 5 /5 (I LOVED it ) on Goodreads, Instagram, Amazon UK and Amazon US and on over 30 Facebook pages plus my blog on Facebook.

WOW!!!!! The ending!!!
This book is such a #pageturner & absolutely addictive!
I’ve never read #KerryWilkinson before, but now adding all the books to my list!
The party house has been rented, there’s drinks, food, games and old and new wounds to open and discuss. By the next day one of the attendees is dead and buried, thinking the death was accidental but what if it wasn’t accidental? I thought this turned out to be an excellent mystery.
The chapters of this gripping murder/mystery are written from the duel perspectives of the author's main character Hannah and a individual called Zack who insisted on referring to himself as the victim's girlfriend.
The story opens with the discovery of the victim's body and then slips back in time to sixteen hours earlier and the reader is introduced to the eight women who were attending the party (which according to Hannah wasn't actually a party but she had planned some games that they could play, which is exactly what you normally do at a party...isn't it???) But as readers would discover as the story unfolded, Hannah was a rather indecisive individual and quite often lacked the maturity of her years. The reason for the party (which wasn't a party) was that Hannah was planning on going travelling using the money that she had inherited when her gran had passed away. She felt that she needed a change in her life, a decision which hadn't gone down very well with her sister Beth who thought that Hannah should be spending the money more wisely. To be honest,if I had a mother who behaved like Hannah's mother Alison then I would have wanted to get as far away as possible at the earliest opportunity. If you combined Ma Baker, Ma Boswell and Bonnie Parker into one individual, you wouldn't even be close to describing Alison's attitude and behaviour. Alison was at the party along with Hannah's Aunt Dawn and cousin Sophie plus Alison's friend Janet, there was also Hannah's sisters Beth and Charlotte and a character called Katherine who had once been a close friend of Hannah's. From the moment that the group arrived at the luxurious house that they had rented for the night, the air was infused with a undercurrent of tension and foreboding. As the drinks flowed, there was times when you could cut the atmosphere with a knife as hidden secrets and grievances were revealed and by the next morning one of the women would be dead. But, who was the victim and what was the motive behind her death? Why do some of the women insist that Hannah doesn't contact the emergency services and what the hell are they going to do with the body?
Meanwhile a individual called Zack was having concerns because he couldn't get in contact with his girlfriend. She had told him that she had been invited to a friend's leaving party and would text him when she wanted picking up. Only he hadn't heard from her and she wasn't answering his texts or calls. Certain that something was terribly wrong, Zack begins his own investigation into her disappearance. I had mixed feelings about Zack and the author cleverly added a air of mystery and suspicion to his character by not making it abundantly clear what the dynamics of the relationship between Zack and the missing woman actually were. One part of Zack's story that I really loved were the interactions between him and Linda who was his boss at the coffee shop where he worked and was my favourite character to feature in this book.
This is not a action packed story, it's more of a study of the relationships and interactions between the various characters who appear within the book and how their lives are affected by the incident at number 12. As well as the seven women who had attended the party there was also a number of other viable suspects who could have been involved in the victim's death including a ex husband, ex boyfriend and a seriously creepy individual called Jeff who was the owner of the house were the party was being held. The plot contains a number of unexpected twists and turns including one which added a classic murder mystery vibe to be story. I can't say that I enjoyed this book as much as I did some of Kerry Wilkinson's previous titles but that won't deter me from reading more of his books in the future.
Wow! What a wild ride this book was! I highly recommend it if you want a book to keep you guessing from start to finish! Definitely don’t want to get an invitation to party 12!
A gripping book that I enjoyed reading from start to finish. The story moved along at a good pace - a real page turner!
The Party at Number 12 by Kerry Wilkinson a fairly fast paced suspense book.
I found it just ok, apart from the beginning and the end it had a hard time keeping my interest.
Somehow although I really liked the premise, I just couldn't connect with the story.
The characters were nicely rounded, I liked different pov's which was well done. The ending was pretty abrupt and throughtout the story the belief has to be suspended quite a lot.
It is a solid book of its genre that may appeal to those who enjoy this tipe of stories.
Wow! What a ride. I loved this domestic thriller by Kerry Wilkerson. Loved all of the characters although I might have been irritated by one. Nice story development and execution was flawless.
This gripped me early on and never let go.
Highly recommend.
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.
My Review
I do like this author's work...
His books are fast paced, exciting and have cracking good storylines.
The Party At No:12 is no different...
We meet Hannah and her family in this story. Hannah is heading off to travel and decides to have a night with family and friends before she goes.
A rather sedate affair I thought. Hiring a house and bringing some board games had me wondering where the author was going to take his story.
Tensions arise however when Hannah invites both friends Sophie & Katherine knowing well that they don't talk to each other. You do get the feeling there is a row brewing between the two and it is not going to end well at all.
I didn't particularly enjoy any of this author's characters in his story if I am honest.
Quite unfriendly and we do see their true colours shine through pretty early on.
When a body is found the next morning in the house, we realise each of the women have something to hide and before you can get your bearings the body is gotten rid of and everyone is sworn to secret.
We really see how fragile the friendships are between the girls. Such utter regard for someone they might have once called a friend.
I loved how the story alternated with Hannah and a young boy Zach, whom Katherine was dating before she died.
What struck me was how one promised text to another person sets in motion events that could be the saving grace.
An exciting read with plenty of twists and turns to keep you entertained.
Well worth your time...
Hannah has just inherited a good chunk of money and decides to use it to travel since things at home aren’t going so well. Hannah and a few close friends and family gather at a rented house to drink and celebrate Hannah’s going away. But the next morning, one of the women is dead and Hannah and the rest of the women are forced to cover it up to protect themselves and ones they loved. I truly love this authors books but this one wasn’t one of my favorites. It is still a good read but it moves kinda slow and at times I found myself skimming through. I will say that the last few chapters do pick up. Still, I kinda saw what was coming with the exception of one good twist. I’d round this up to 3.5 stars because of that last twist. Kerry Wilkinson is a solid writer though and I will continue to read any of her future books.
The Party at Number 12 is a bit of a mystery/thriller. After Hannah hosts a party before heading off around the world travelling, but something goes wrong and one of the guests is found dead the next morning. How Hannah and her guests deal with this and get to the bottom of what actually happened throws everything into question for Hannah.
There were quite a few twists and turns in the plot of this book. I did see some of them coming before they happened, but it was still a gripping and entertaining read. I wasn't entirely convinced about the way that some of the characters acted and behaved once one of them was found dead, but that didn't detract from the story itself.
I enjoyed the way that the story unfolded and despite seeing some of the twists coming, I still hadn't figured it all out by the end.
Overall a good read and one that I would recommend.
I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own and given voluntarily.
Really enjoyable book by this author. It was fast paced and easy to read. It kept my attention although I did guess who it was
This novel makes you ask the question- just how far would you go to protect your family? 'The Party at Number 12' by Kerry Wilkinson is centered around asking yourself just that, as this is a tale that depicts how things can go extremely wrong while celebrating at a party. Told in alternating views by Hannah and Zack, the plot unfolds through strictly third-person narration. Hannah, the main protagonist, decided that her life was in a rut, so she quit her menial job, divorced her boring husband, but was forced to move back in with her mother due to her lack of funds. However, she soon finds herself the recipient of a significant amount of money after her paternal grandmother's death, along with her sisters, Charlotte and Beth. While Charlotte and Hannah share the same parents, Beth was fathered by their mother's second husband, creating tension amongst the family members. Taking the inheritance as a sign that she should expand her horizons, she booked an around-the-world trip and booked a fancy house with the intention of having a 'last hurrah' shindig. Sounds like it should be simple, right? What can possibly go wrong when you have a house full of eight women, who all have murky pasts, questionable habits, and jealous moments? The answer- EVERYTHING.
I really enjoyed the 'whodunit' aspect of this book; unlike most other mysteries, there was a small suspect pool to choose from, but this did not take away from the fun of guessing the identity of the 'bad guy.' Overall, the plot was concise and easy to follow, but there were some gaps, especially when we learn who the killer is. I wish there had been more of an explanation of the 'why'- the conclusion was a little abrupt, and the epilogue needed to be fleshed out a bit more.
I give 'The Party at Number 12' a rating of 3 stars, for all the reasons as listed above. I recommend this to those who enjoy a mystery with build up that allows them to capture all the nuances in the novel. There are no extreme twists, but there will be a little surprise when you learn about the murderer's identity. There are no instances of foul language or sexual and erotic acts, so this is a suitable read for persons as young as teens. The only major trigger is death/killing of a loved one, so this is something to keep in mind if you are struggling with this. In the end, this is a great read, and you should definitely give it a chance!
*A great many thanks to Netgalley, Kerry Wilkinson, and Bookouture for this ARC. It is important to note that I was under no commitment to provide a positive review, and all opinions are undoubtedly my own.*
Kerry Wilkinson writes fast paced twisty page turners that never disappoint!
Hannah is moving away! To celebrate a beautiful home has been rented and friends and family have been invited. Should make for a fun filled send off. But there are secrets and resentments in the group. But they gather themselves together, determined to have a good time despite all the water under the bridge.
In the morning one of them is dead!
Hannah wants to ring the police but as I mentioned, everyone has secrets and something to hide. They decide to take matters into their own hands. As they stumble over their secrets and lies, will someone stumble over the truth?
Another fun and engaging read by Wilkinson. I enjoyed switching back and forth between the book and audiobook. I often have an inkling as to whodunit, but this time, I didn't have a clue. Although not my favorite book by Wilkinson, I enjoyed this one and enjoyed not knowing what really happened until the ending.
Thank you to Bookouture, Bookouture Audio and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
Rating: 4.5 Stars
Kerry Wilkinson is at his most chilling with his shocking and terrifying new thriller, The Party at Number 12.
Hannah is moving away from her friends and family to start afresh somewhere new, but before leaving for greener pastures, she has planned one last hurrah. Having rented a grand townhouse for the evening, Hannah is throwing a party and has invited the people who mean the most to her in the world. Hannah’s nearest and dearest are all gathered under one roof to celebrate the good times and raise a glass to the future. But little does she realise that in the cold light of day, this party is going to turn into a nightmare of epic proportions…
The next day, one of the guests is found cold and lifeless in their pristine white bed. It’s clear that this was no accident, but cold-blooded murder. But just who was responsible? Hannah had gathered all the people that were important to her under one roof. She trusted them and loved them and surely there couldn’t have been a murderer hiding in plain sight? Hannah wants to call the police, yet it quickly transpires that every single person at the party had a very good reason for committing murder.
From a mother determined to do whatever it takes for her daughters to best friends plagued by dark secrets and a sister with a jealous streak. Which one of them is the killer? What if this murder wasn’t an isolated incident? And just who does the killer have next in their sights?
Kerry Wilkinson’s The Party at Number 12 is a nail-biting page-turner with echoes of Agatha Christie’s locked-room mysteries that will keep readers hooked all through the night. Kerry Wilkinson has written a jaw-dropping tale of toxic relationships, dangerous secrets and desperate choices where the twists and turns will leave readers reeling and the shocks and surprises come thick and fast.
A top-notch thriller readers won’t be able to put down, Kerry Wilkinson hits the jackpot yet again with his latest thriller, The Party at Number 12.
