This book was such a fun listen. This is the first book in what I hope will be a long series. There is such a great cast of characters and just enough world building for the supernatural that you aren’t asking questions while you listen. Violet and Lincoln are flawed and fun. The story has its steamy moments so know that before you listen. The narrator did an amazing job that I will look for other books that she has narrated. As I said, I thoroughly enjoyed this audiobook and hope that the author writes more in the series. This will be worth the credit with Audible.

4.5/5 (rounded up) - I listened to the audiobook of this book!

This was such a hilarious and cute romance story! I loved the supernatural spin with shapeshifters, angels, witches, etc. It was fun following the plot of the romance, as well as Violet and her sisters, and I’m excited for the next story for another sisters! Lincoln and Violets chemistry was very readable, and didn’t feel forced, and the supernatural “world building” fit in so well, and the spice was nice.

Because I listened to the audiobook, I really loved Zara Johnson. Her voice for Lincoln was so broody and fit his character without any obvious awkward woman voice for a man. It was so good and added to the story perfectly!

Book #1 of Supernatural Singles: in a supernatural romance, Violet is the eldest of triplets, and is the only who wasn’t gifted with witchy/magic skills. When she has to enter a fake relationship with her ex-boyfriend, Lincoln the pack leader. When their pretend relationship gets more serious, Lincoln has to fight how to Tell Violet why he broke them up years ago.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an eARC audiobook copy of Not the Witch You Wed by April Asher, in exchange for my honest review!

If anyone is looking for an absolutely delightful & entertaining romcom read full of triplet witches, an array of shifters & various other supernatural creatures, then I would highly recommend Not the Witch You Wed by April Asher! This book has fake dating, enemies to lovers, second chance romance, magic realism & humor all rolled into this supernatural romance that is an easy 4.5 stars for me!
Also, the hero of the story is an alpha male, who is the alpha wolf but he (bonus) cares about conservation, undoing toxic traditions and supports the heroine saving herself but is still around for supporting her in any capacity!! Yes please and thank you very much!!!
There is even a meddling, mischevious, match-making grandma that uses the word “bae”.
And if all of that wasn’t enough, the main character Violet is best friends with a succubus & an angel. Plus, there were references to Avengers: Endgame, Halloweentown & Supernatural the TV show
This book is full of magic & creates magic for the reader. I chuckled, swooned & loved this book. Someone PLEASE tell me that the other sisters have their own stories & we get more of this world!!! I would love to hear more about all of them!!

Extra things I loved:
-“Hex me sideways” was a phrase that I loved & made me laugh.
-“she was in a witchy of trouble.” I love puns & clever wordplay.
-“Didn’t give a flying broomstick.”
-“Move over Superman, Supergran is in the house.”
There were so many clever & fun quotes that I could go on & on but there were some of my favorites.

Massive thanks to NetGalley & St. Martin’s Press for giving me the opportunity to read this book! I’m very grateful & thankful to have read this story.

This was OK.

A huge thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for my advanced audio of Not the Witch You Wed.

I usually don't read fantasy.
I'm really trying to push myself out of my comfort zone to try new things.
This book didn't completely miss the mark I just didn't love it.

The audio however was fantastic. This book was narrated by Zura Johnson. This is my first time hearing her voice on audio and I loved it. I really hope to hear more from her in the future.

Overall- I still recommend. Just not my cup of tea. This book is part of a series and I am not invested enough to continue.

This was really fun.
The characters were sassy and well written.
Not too much spice, but enough to be interesting.
The only thing that I didn't care for was the heavy use of the word witch in place of regular words.
It was used so much in the first couple chapters I almost set this aside.
It simmered down a bit after that, but still overused.
Overall pretty good.
Much love to NetGalley, St. Martin's Press & Dreamscape Media for my DRC.

Violet a magic-less witch and Lincolns a shapeshifter. They old high school sweethearts until things went tragically wrong. 14 years later and their paths cross. They decide to come up with a scheme to fake date in order to get the town elders off their back about finding a partner But can Violet trust the man who ran off from of her all those years ago? Soon after their decision, Violet's magic reappears and some of those strong old romantic feelings come with it. Can Lincoln and Violet fool everyone and get what they want? Or will they be forced into marriage to please their society. Or maybe, they'll get what they always wanted all those years ago, each other.

What a fun and enjoyable listen! The supernatural world building was fun and not too complicated. Some of the fantasy world could be confusing if you aren't paying close enough attention so dont stray! Violet was sassy and Lincoln was suave in all the best ways. I loved the secondary characters, The triplets grandma was a total bad ass bitch, in the best way possible, and Violet and Lincolns friends were so fun.

This is such a enjoyable and unique book. The world building, plot and characters all work together to create a really fun and upbeat atmosphere. There's a ton of good tropes (soulmates, fake dating, childhood friends to enemies to lovers), the love interest is super swoon-worthy (possessive, pining/obsessed with the main characters, protective, etc), and there's representation in the plus size main character. Really, I have no objective complaints. That being said, I didn't really connect with this book. Even though it was a really fun read, for whatever reason it just didn't click with me. Anyways, that's a personal opinion, and considering how strong this was objectively, I'd definitely recommend it to fans of paranormal contemporaries. It's got a ton of widely beloved elements yet is a completely new story.

I really wanted to love this book, but I just never got hooked. I have only read a few "witchy" books and the ones I love the most tend to have only a few mystical elements while this one was chock full of them. I think this may be a mood read book for me and I just wasn't quite there. I may try picking this book up again near Halloween and see how that goes. There were a lot of fun references sprinkled throughout the book, that I think will amuse readers. Have fun finding them!

I feel like I shouldn’t be overly critical of a book that is deliberately cheesy, as I recognize some of the over-the-top bits might have been meant to aid the fun. Still, I must mention these two things: I found it annoying that there was so much fixation on how attractive these people were.. I also hated Lincoln swooping in as a male savior so often. Really, the story was overflowing with ways Lincoln saved Violet. Had it not been such a prevalent part of the plot or had it only happened once, I might not have minded it so much.

While this did make me laugh a few times, I don’t think I was the right reader for it, as I didn’t care for the characters or the story. It’s a fun concept so I’m sad I couldn’t enjoy it in the way I’d expected to.

I am immensely grateful to Dreamscape Media for my audio review copy. All opinions are my own.

This was just adorable. I love the chemistry between magic-less Violet and alpha Lincoln. It was a sweet paranormal romance, not too sexy, but there was some spice. The narration was wonderful!!

Not the Witch You Wed is a fun and sexy paranormal romance. Violet is a witch and Lincoln is a wolf shifter. They make a hot couple. The spice was good and open door but not overwhelming to the book. Just the right amount for the story. I enjoyed many of the side characters which is great because this is clearly going to be a series. I definitely will read future books!
The release date is 2/8/22! Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the advance copy of the audiobook!
This will be posted on Instagram as well.

Violet Maxwell the oldest in a magical triad and yet is “magicless” After a wolf shift Lincoln Thorne broke her heart when they were teens she cut him out of her life and took a big step back from Supernatural Life (as mochas possible when your family is basically the Supremes).

14 years later the paid is thrown together by some truly arcane supernatural laws forcing them to find a mate or face consequences. They decide to fake date in order to get the supernatural counsels off their backs to bide their time and figure out their next steps.

What they weren’t counting on were those old feelings to come back 10x harder this time around. What’s that in the air?! Is it love? Magic? Turn the wonderfully written pages and find out!

Thank you to Netgalley & Dreamscape Media for the ARC audiobook and my sister for scoring a copy ala B&N’s blind date with a book that same day! Seems like fate!

I'm going to be completely honest, while I have really gotten into the world of urban fantasy and contemporary romances lately, this one just wasn't for me. I think it is perfect for fans of Twilight and the Crave series, but I personally just couldn't get past the cheesy lines about mates and werewolves and witches. I think that anyone who really enjoys more supernatural romance than I do would love this, but this one in particular just wasn't for me. However, the banter between the main characters was great, and I did enjoy that.

Rating: 3.75

Not The Witch You Wed was a entertaining and charming audiobook that has the fake dating trope and a second chance romance.

The story and main characters were really interesting and well written. The magic system and supernatural world were also quite captivating as well.

I will say though, the plot was a bit slow paced especially in the middle half of the story. There were also a few moments that were quite cheesy and predictable as well.

The romance between the main characters, Violet and Lincoln was really cute and quite steamy. Their development and reconnection was just great.

The story is dual POVs of Violet and Lincoln but unfortunately not dual narration. The narrator, Zura Johnson did do a good job with the different character voices but I do feel like the story could have benefited more with dual narrators. The narrator also had a bit too much mouth noises at times, but she was still pleasing to listen to.

Overall, just a delightful audiobook with a magical romance and story.

Thank you to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for providing me with an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Holy freaking adorable! Fake dating between a witch and a wolf shifter sign me up!

I loved this book. The relationship between Violet and Lincoln left me grinning like an idiot. The book had me constantly laughing. I absolutely cannot wait for the next book, which seems to maybe be about her sister?? I hope so!

The narration on this was also excellent.

An overall enjoyable experience from every angle!

Violet Maxwell is just trying to live her life on her own terms. So what if she and her sisters are descendants of the most powerful witch alive? So what if she’s unable to follow in her grandmother’s footsteps due to a distinct lack of magic? So what if her main job is glorified bartender and her side hustle is working with kids after school for free? Violet is going to do Violet. That is, until she runs into the wolf shifter who broke her heart fourteen years ago.

Lincoln Thorne has spent the last fourteen years reforming shifter society into something he can be proud of, spurning his father’s values at every turn, and trying to forget the witch who got away. With his 33rd birthday approaching, Lincoln must make a decision: either throw away everything he’s tried to achieve or give up all hope of finally bonding with his true mate.

After a chance encounter sparks old flames, Violet’s magic decides to suddenly make itself known. While this isn’t necessarily a bad thing, the timing does present a few, um, complications. In order to buy them both more time, Violet and Lincoln enter into a fake relationship. The problem is, neither Violet’s magic nor Lincoln’s wolf seem to have gotten the whole “fake” memo.

This was a really fun romcom with some steam and lots of laughs. The magic society/rules the author came up with were intriguing. I will say that the ending left me with several questions. However, based on the events of this book, I’m expecting at least three more in this series. Hopefully those loose ends will be addressed sooner or later.

I think the part of this book that really shines is the characters. Violet’s sisters and her best friends make for an amazing support system, but also clearly have their own lives with their own interests and ambitions. I also loved Vi’s grandmother. That old witch is the bomb!

Side Note: This book has chapter titles and I’m here for it.

I wish I had better things to say about this book. Everything about it screamed that I would love it, but when I got into it I could not stop rolling my eyes and dreading picking it up.

Violet Maxwell is a triplet from a powerful line of witches who has no magic in her. She is fine living her life under the raider but when she tumbles into Lincoln Thorne, her ex who is a powerful shifter, she starts to feel something weird happening to her. Slowly, Violet realizes that she does indeed have magic but has no idea how to control it. She also finds out that she must enter into a witching bond, forcing her to marry someone with in a small time frame. Lincoln Thorne must also marry someone by his 33 birthday and the two hatch a plan to play like they are in a relationship to appease the elder courts.
Violet and Max soon realize that their feelings are still very much alive and now are dealing with this weird complex situation where they have to pretend to be dating, while also tell them selves they aren’t, but both are mentally dating.

I wanted to love this book. I wanted so bad. The magic, the creatures, the elder court and the enemies to lovers should have made for the perfect book. Unfortunately this book felt very childish and then out of no where there would be very explicit content. Don’t get me wrong, I love explicit, I am here for it. But it felt like I was reading a children’s book 90% of the time then out of no where- BOOM sex scene. Which I also was not a fan of the “sex scenes”. They weren’t something that I would call explicit other than the fact that the author would used sexual words. It felt like she put these words in there to make this book feel more adult, but it just felt uncomfortable.

Also, I could not stop rolling my eyes at the way things were phrased in this book. I felt like it had to be satire but it was not. I think this book had a lot of protentional, I just wish it didnt use the weird terms and stuck more to the story line of their love story. I feel like it dragged and dragged when the author could have made the journey way more fun and also quicker pace.

It was a cute witch/shifter story. Perfect for a light fall read for the witchy vibes. Was only slightly disappointed with how the main ml had this big secret he couldn't tell the fl and not much happened with that point of the story. I do wish there had been less council stuff going on, but am very interested to see if there are spin offs of some of the other characters introduced to us.

Not the Witch You Wed has a lot of potential, but just didn’t do it for me. The magical aspects and world building of magical beings was interesting, but quite difficult to keep up with as there are a lot of different backgrounds that are talked about. Which beasts got along with who, who has the longest history of being at the top of the food chain, it was all thrown at the reader quite quickly. This is personal preference, but phrases like “son of a witches broomstick” is so silly it takes me out of the story entirely, and those quips were said quite frequently. A good start for a rom-com chick lit book, but I just couldn’t get myself to finish it.
