This is a novel about life. And death. And all the things that can happen on the road from birth to the grave. It is poignant; heartbreaking; but also heartwarming. It explores survivor's guilt and the lies which can hide important truths. Importantly it is also about losing one's family but finding one's self. And it is a homage to six million Jews who died in Hitler's holocaust. I found it engaging and enlightening and written with honest integrity.

This story will grab your heart and not let go! I highly recommend this one to anyone who is a fan of WWII historical fiction. This was my first book to read by June Felton but definitely not my last!
