This was a surprisingly helpful book for me to read during a tough week. Walker combines yoga with Chinese philosophy to offer both physical and mental exercises to heal from grief, trauma and stress. There are five sections for the five elements of wood, metal, fire, earth and water, with different types of focuses and practices for each. I didn’t actually expect it to help me personally at a time when I was really struggling but some of it actually did and I found myself doing some of them repeatedly over the week. I’m looking forward to incorporating the yoga poses and more of the journaling practices next.
I read a digital copy of this book via netgalley.
This reminded me a lot of The Body Keeps the Score. I found that to be true and also find the ideas presented here to be true. We all have some sort of personal trauma. The ideas here are easily laid out and easy to follow.
Very good, even if trauma is not an issue. I suspect the releases that result are healthy for anyone. The text is clear and has lots of good info. Recommended.
I really appreciate the free review copy!!

The book combines Chinese elements, energy medicine (Donna Eden) and yoga. Might buy a copy for myself when it comes out.
Includes some good ideas for yoga and energy medicine sessions.
Fairly short but useful.
Concerned about the use of the phrase “differently abled” for “disabled.” Author may want to change that before the final book comes out (although it is unlikely at this time).
