Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher for giving me this eARC to review.
I loved the affirmations in this book, the spells were easy to follow and in general it felt like a safe wellbeing book rather than just magic, magic, magic.
This was a very cozy and happy read. It was organized and the writing was accessible and easy to understand even if English isn’t your first language.
It has a lot of meditation, manifestations exercises etc, that I’m eager to try out. Recommend!!
Read this to invest in yourself and your mental wellbeing.
Spells for Good Times by Kerri Connor does just what it says -- provides a detailed account of spellwork and a wealth of inspiration for one's own exploration of manifesting joy in one's life.
A decent addition to other spell books you may have. Spells and other things in book vary in time length. Get journal exercises, affirmations along with the spells.
This book infuses magic into all sorts of every day practices like bathing, eating, waking up, and going to bed. Many of the rituals require relatively few ingredients/tools, which makes the book feel accessible. I think many of these practices would be nice self-care tools even for those who do not identify as magic workers, though there are also some rituals and spells that feel full-on witch. It’s a nice balance, overall, though I will say that the later chapters feel witchier while the opening ones feel more mundane. Perhaps intentional to slowly walk readers in?
I appreciated the overall tone of the book, as well. There is an acknowledgement that the world is big and scary (this title was written post-pandemic, so COVID exists), and that magic can’t fix everything. But it can sustain us and help us have the energy to do what we can to fix the bigger issues in the world. That kind of realistic approach was refreshing, in my opinion.
My biggest issue with this book is one I complain about fairly often with magic books. The morning ritual section especially seems to fit only one kind of lifestyle, suggesting rituals that include waking up to music and performing rituals while still in bed. This is great if you’re a solo witch living in the woods, but a bit harder to put into practice if you sleep in bed with a husband and a dog, as I do.
Overall, I’m glad I read this book! Like many spellbooks, it feels more like a reference text that one you read cover-to-cover, and I’m excited to add it to my arsenal of texts to pull from when I’m feeling the need for a little witchy self-care.
Thank you Netgalley for this ACR for an exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this topic and the contents of the book. Highly recommend it.
An interesting book that I liked as it's well organised and full of ideas I want to try
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC, all opinions are mine
I really liked this book. It had a pretty unique lay-out because it intermingled more theoretical text with exercises, journal prompts, meditations and affirmations; and I really enjoyed that. It made the book feel very complete and useful. The writing style was also really comforting and easy to follow along. It was a lovely read.
I liked the way this book was laid out and had a lot of good ideas for meditations. Would've loved a little bit more detailed information regarding the "why" and "how" of some of the workings suggested, but overall, a pleasant read.
This is a fun book, it has some interesting spells listed. I would say these are less likely to make an impact but still fun to create.
4 interesting, spiritual, meditative stars ^^
Thank you to NetGalley and Llewellyn Publications for providing a digital ARC for review~
This was a much-needed guide for present times of uncertainty and tension in our world. I dabble in these practices, but more so in a spiritual and reflective way.
This was a simple yet effective short book on various spells for healing and coping. It is divided into chapters or sections, each one covering a different topic. It is filled with spells, make-ables, mantras, and activities.
I am most excited about the recipes for shower steamers/bombs and lavender hot chocolate! I would love to create my own shower steamers as I use these often, but would be much more satisfying to create them by my own hand.
