As a fan of Elin Hilderbrand summer isn't officially summer until I read one of her novels. I enjoyed that this one had a little mystery to it and the storyline was fun and good as always.
Grace Hadley was killed in a tragic fire in the hotel in 1922, and although the hotel was run by others over the years before finally being abandoned, Grace hopes that this new revamp will see her death be acknowledged. A London billionaire, Xavier Darling, spends millions renovating the property with one of his goals being to receive a “5-key” review from Shelly Carpenter who authors a blog called Hotel Confidential.
Lizbet Keaton is hired as the general manager and employs a team of “misfits” to staff the hotel. They come together in the hopes of pulling off a successful first season, despite their own personal challenges. The stories and backgrounds of the staff are weaved into the storyline which enhances the characters and adds to the novel. The unexpected twists and turns help bring everything to a close at the end.
I’ve read multiple novels by Elin Hilderbrand and have to say that this is one of my favourites. It’s slightly reminiscent of Twenties Girl by Sophie Kinsella which I really enjoyed.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for allowing me to read this novel. #NetGalley #LittleBrownandCompany #TheHotelNantucket
The Hotel Nantucket is, once again, beautifully written. Elin hits the mark in her descriptive accounts of the Hotel Nantucket. Reading this book has me contemplating about visiting Nantucket and spending time there. Elin's characters come to life in this book. Each individual character has their own charisma. Lizbeth Keaton was hired to manage the hotel and struggles to overcome her fears & insecurities. The new billionaire owner, Xavier Darling, has a fierce monetary competition incentive program for the employees of his new hotel. The competition creates quite a commotion as each employee, from the manager, to the front desk staff, to the bellhops, as they all strive to be the top contender in exemplary customer service for their guests, and be the recipient of the weekly Hotel Nantucket is a great summer read and the pages fly as you can't put the book down. I was not happy when I was finished reading. I really enjoyed this book.
Summer is upon us once again and thanks to author Elin Hilderbrand, we get to go back to Nantucket!
The Hotel Nantucket takes us back to the island we love so well and even reintroduces her readers to characters from her other novels, notably Mario from The Blue Bistro and mentions the Quinns from the Winter Street Series. There certainly are others, but I’ll leave those to the discerning reader. These nuggets are wonderful for tried and true Hilderbrand fans, yet one does not need to have read the entire bibliofile to be able to love this story.
This story is fresh: a refurbishing of a hotel on Nantucket with Lizbet tapped to run it. Looking for an exclusive 5 key rating (that has never been given) by and elusive, invisible critic. A ghost who is trapped in the hotel since she was murdered there. A “Chad” (literally his name) who feels he must do penance.
The read is enchanting and characters are well-developed. I loved, loved, loved this story.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown, and Company for this ARC in exchange for my honest opinion of this book.
Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC of this book.
To be honest, this was a miss for me. I found it so long and drawn out that I had to take a break from reading it and wasn't thrilled about returning to it.
I tend to enjoy Elin Hilderbrand novels so I am disappointed that this wasn't better in my books.
Elin Hilderbrand is a hit-or-miss author for me. I have conflicting feelings about this one. On one hand, I found the plot to be engaging and fun! And I always love the Nantucket setting. I have noticed over the last few of Himderbrand’s releases, however, a little change in writing style. There is a lot of brand dropping and contrived references to pop culture… but done in a very “middle age woman catering to Gen Z” type of way. Not a fan of that!
I wasn’t so sure about the ghost in this story but I ended up loving this book. I have been saying this after each of Elin’s recent books but I think this truly is her best yet. I love!! The Blue Book at the end of the book and can’t wait for my next trip to Nantucket.
The Hotel Nantucket has a dark past. After a fire in 1922 and many failed attempts to revive the historical Hotel, Elon Hilderbrand brings us to present day. Wealthy investor Xavier Darling decides to remodel and reopen- from across the pond, sight unseen. Most locals are displeased and weary of the investor from overseas.
Within the walls of the hotel lives Grace, the resident ghost that dies in the fire of 1922. Lizbet, recovering from a terrible breakup, is hired to manage the entire operation. From a celebrity chef, to a ghost, to a young chess prodigy, Hilderbrand did a masterful job of creating interesting characters. Loved the book! It is a perfect summer beach read.
*** huge thanks to NetGalley for the ARC in exchange for my honest review
The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hiderbrand is a general fiction novel about a young chambermaid, Grace, who tragically perished in a hotel fire in1922. Years later, the rich and notable Xavier Darling purchases the neglected, rundown Hotel Nantucket hiring Nantucket native Lizbet Keaton as his general manager. Lizbet has a lot to prove, trying to rehabilitate the hotel with its tarnished reputation and resident ghost. Silly, light and engaging, not what I was expecting at all!
This book is the perfect quick summer read told from multiple character’s perspectives. If you like that style of writing, you will enjoy this little gem. I rate this novel 5 out of 5 stars.
Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for providing a copy of this novel in exchange for a fair review. https://moesbookblog.wordpress.com/

When London billionaire, Xavier Darling buys The Hotel Nantucket, he does a complete renovation and hires Lizbet Keaton to be the general manager. Fresh off a breakup , Lizbet wants to impress her new boss and famous hotel critic, Shelly Carpenter.
She does not realize how difficult it will be to manage the staff and guests, who all have complicated pasts. Will the hotel be able overcome it’s bad reputation from years ago when hotel maid, Grace, died in a fire? She is said to still haunt the hotel today.
My thoughts:
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
This was a perfect summer read. Elin Hilderbrand is so good at describing the setting, you really feel like you know the island. The staff were a diverse group of characters that made for an interesting story. There were so many secrets, impending disasters and relationships between the staff (and guests) it was comical at times.
The addition of Grace, the ghost, was clever. Her observations were smart and funny. Grace was the unknown force that helped the hotel and guests with their relationships and even tried to discourage bad behavior. She enjoyed listening to her favorite song, Levitating by Dua Lipa! 👻😂
First things first, A huge thank you to Net Galley for the advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.

something that makes me automatically write a book 5 stars is when it has a lot of pieces that are beautifully wrapped up and put together by the end of the book. Every storyline makes sense, every ending is wrapped up. And this book does it PERFECTLY.
Elin weaves together a story as only she can, and she had me fully invested. I blew through this book in two days, it would’ve been one if I hadn’t started reading it so late at night. I really felt close to every character, every character was very in-depth and well portrayed. There was a lot of suspense and even a little bit of a mystery which I absolutely loved. The supernatural part of the book was not over done, it actually added to the storyline. There was nothing in this book that was unbelievable or that didn’t make sense. And that is something that is big with me, I love one box just makes sense. Hilderbrand put a lot of research into this book and you can absolutely tell. I loved the story, loved every character, five stars.

Synopsis: fresh off a bad break up with a long time boyfriend, Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet is desperately seeking a second act. When she’s named the new general manager of the hotel Nantucket, once a gem turned abandoned, she hopes her local expertise and charismatic staff can win the favor of their new London billionaire owner. As well as that of Shelly Carpenter, the wildly popular Instagram taste maker who could help put them back on the map. And while hotel Nantucket appears to be a blissful paradise, complete with a celebrity chef from restaurant in an idyllic wellness center, there’s lots of drama behind closed doors. The staff and guests have complicated past and the hotel can’t seem to overcome the bad reputation earned in 1922 when a tragic fire killed 19-year-old chambermaid grace. With grace glefly haunting the halls, a staff harboring all kind of secrets and Lizbeth‘s own romantic uncertainty, is the hotel Nantucket Destin for success or doom?
I have been an avid fan of Elin Hilderbrand's and I was so excited for this book, but it was not enjoyable. I could not get into it and found it very boring.
I’m a huge fan of Elin Hilderbrand and this was a perfect summer read with added mystery and suspense! I was completely immersed in this story and would absolutely recommend it if you’re a long time fan of her books! This one was a definite favorite for me!
I love these books and this one was another winner! Such a good summer read with some very unique characters :) Looking forward to the next one!
Thank you NetGalley and Elin Hilderbrand!
What an awesome story! Not my usual book to pick up and I was presently surprised. Loved the character progression and the way each chapter had me searching for more. It was definitely a book I didn't want to put down. Easy flowing storyline with twist and turns, not as predictable as one may think. I'm interested in reading more from Elin Hilderbrand now!
This was PERFECT Summer reading. I had such a good time reading The Hotel Nantucket with both hot cups of tea and ice cold beers. Full of drama, romance, friendship, food, and beachy good times, this is going to be my go to recommendation for beach reads this summer.
Is it summer without reading the newest Hilderbrand? Another enjoyable beach read this time with a ghost! This was my favorite of hers, but still an enjoyable read!
Elgin strikes again. A spunky woman is hired to manage a beautifully renovated hotel and earn an unprecedented 5 star rating from a mysterious online reviewer. A fun cast of characters staff the hotel and we learn their stories. And, there is a ghost, a nineteen year old maid died in a fire at the hotel early in its history and she’s been haunting it ever since.
Thank you to Little, Brown and Company Publishing and Netgalley for the opportunity to review this novel in exchange for my honest review.

Most Surprising Moment:
The article on Grace the Ghost!!
Overall Thoughts:
This is the first time I've read something by Elin Hilderbrand so I wasn't sure what to expect. The changing focus for each character, and how they were all introduced were interesting. The writing was witty, and the setting was vivid. Where I couldn't get hooked was on the plot. I found myself hoping the book would hurry up, or give me more Grace the Ghost. It's a great book for sure, just not my favorite!
I have enjoyed all of Elin Hiderbrand's books, and this one was no exception. I wasn't quite sure about it when I found out that one of the characters was a ghost, but once I got into the story, it didn't bother me at all. I read this when I was having a bit of a rough week, and it was exactly what I needed to just escape from reality for a bit. I look forward to recommending this title to our patrons.
