🔑Review - ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.5/5🔑

🗓Pub Date: June 14, 2022 (out now!)

Lizbet Keaton has not only gone through a break up, but has also lost her job since she worked at The Deck Restaurant with her ex boyfriend of 10+ years. Needing something new, Lizbet decides to apply for the general manager position at The Hotel Nantucket. The dilapidated and (supposedly) haunted hotel has recently been bought by London billionaire, Xavier Darling, and is being completely renovated with the goal of earning the first ever five key review from a well known travel blogger.

Lizbet hires a group of seemingly random people with different personalities to help run and maintain the hotel. Taking a gamble on a few of those she hired, she seems unsure if this group is going to be able to earn the five key review Xavier is seeking. Between the different personalities and relationships, there’s quite a few plot twists along the way, including the ghost that is rumored to be residing in the hotel.

After a fire in 1922, the hotel remained unoccupied, except for the ghost of a young chambermaid, Grace Hadley. She died under mysterious circumstances in the fire and hasn’t left the hotel since. Does Grace end up hurting their chances of getting that five key review? Or is she able to help in some unexpected ways?

This is the first book I’ve read by Elin Hilderbrand and it did not disappoint. I really enjoyed her writing style, along with the wide variety of characters. It wasn’t hard to keep up with them and I enjoyed their development throughout.

This was such a great beach read and I felt like I was staying at The Hotel Nantucket while I was reading. It was really descriptive and the author did a great job creating that scene.

I would recommend this book to anyone, since there’s a combination of different genres throughout the story. You get some romance, a little haunting/paranormal, crime, etc.

At the end, you also get Lizbet’s “Blue Book” that she created for all the guests as a guide for different experiences and things to do on the island. I thought this was really creative and made me want to vacation there ASAP.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I have to say that I am absolutely now an Elin Hilderbrand fan; this is only the second book of hers that I've read, and so far both have been the best kind of beach read.

The Hotel Nantucket begins with the purchase of an old hotel in Nantucket by a London billion who, we are told, is trying to impress not just one but TWO women. One of these women includes a mysterious Instagram hotel reviewer; needless to say, our London billionaire Xavier Darling, is after the coveted "Five Key" review (which has never been given). Xavier hires Nantucket darling Lizbet Keaton as his general manager of the hotel, and the story follows not only Lizbet, but a majority of the hotel's small group of employees.

One of my most favorite characters in the novel is Grace the ghost, who died in a fire at the original hotel under mysterious circumstances. Grace's commentary on the hotel staff AND guests was refreshingly comedic and, at times, wizened. It was such a pleasure to see Grace's own story unraveled, and to see some of Hilderbrand's other characters woven into the story (Fast Eddie, for example).

The Hotel Nantucket put me right in the mood - charmed, relaxed, uplifted, and even feeling a little FOMO to say on Nantucket myself! However, the cover was a bit misleading as there were no true "beach scenes" (even the hotel is not beach side). The inclusion of the author's own Blue Book at the end of where to travel in Nantucket was a charming touch, The plot of the novel, at times, could be a little cheesy and too nuanced (i.e. one of the characters exclaims, "She will slay!" and it seemed like Hilderbrand was trying a little too hard). All in all, I will be giving this book my own coveted five stars, as it is absolutely a book I would read again!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Elin Hilderbrand's books are always compelling to read, and this book was no exception. However, this book was not the best of hers, which makes it diaappointing that it was the one that helped her achieve a spot as the #1 NYTimes best-selling book. While I loved the premise and setting of a new hotel during the summer in Nantucket, here were just too many storylines, several of which seemed forced or unnecessary. Chief among those was Grace, the ghost, who seed to be there more just to fill space. Hopefully, she finds her groove again with her next book! (3.5 stars rounded up to 4)

This is the perfect summer read or anytime read when you're feeling you need a vacation. This is also qood read. Lisbet has broken up with her cheating partner (the wine sales person!) and that also entails the restaurant they
have put on the map on Nantucket. She applies for a job as the general manager of a hotel, long deserted but now renovated spectacularly by a billionaire who is desperate to get a five key rating from a travel critic who travels incognito. The hotel is said to be haunted by the ghost of a chambermaid who was the only fatality in a fire in the 1920s. Characters are well drawn, sympathetic and fun. A great read

Another fabulous one by Elin Hilderbrand! Love her books & the beachy feel of Nantucket.

Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of books that are perfect to read at the beach, and this one is no different! I absolutely loved all the characters in this story, along with the various story lines for each. I especially appreciated the role that Grace played in the book and felt that without her, the book would not have been as beautiful! EH is a master of writing and this newest release shows that she still has it!

Elin Hildebrand never fails to entertain. Hotel Nantucket has it all : a lovable ghost, precocious children and entertaining characters. A rundown hotel is transformed into a showplace. All the owner needs is the coveted five key award. No place has ever achieved this. But is the hotel team up to it. Everyone has a secret to hide.
A superb summer read. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for this ARC.

It is a special time for Lizbet Keaton. In the wake of dumping her long-term cheating boyfriend, she has started over with a new job and a new outlook on life. She is the general manager of an elegant new hotel opening in Nantucket and is determined to make it the best experience possible. With this new job comes a diverse group of employees, many of whom seem to have some dark secret to hide.

I started reading this story thinking it would be about a woman finding a new path after dumping her cheating boyfriend but it is so much more. Readers really get to know a lot of the staff and I was drawn into their lives complete with some serious secrets. Also, the elaborate descriptions really helped enhance the reading experience. Thanks to Little, Brown and Company for an ARC. The opinions expressed are my own.

This was exactly what I needed in the moment I read it! I was a little hesitant when I heard it was a partial ghost story, but I ended up loving Grace and would welcome her to haunt my house anytime! As usually, Hilderbrand gives us multiple storylines to follow. I was completely invested in each and every hotel employee’s journey and now I want to work in a hotel. I also want to live in Nantucket. If you are a fan of Hilderbrand, you will undoubtedly notice the cameos of characters from her other books. (I think Fast Eddie must be the only realtor on the island! IYKYK). There is an unknown throughout the book, not really a mystery to solve in the traditional sense, and I was floored by that reveal! Didn’t even have an inkling!!! I’m giving this five stars because it was a page turning summer escape that I didn’t want to end!

The main character ,Lizbet is looking for a new beginning after a heart break. The abandoned Hotel Nantucket has been purchased by billionaire , Xavier, who hires Lizbet to get the hotel up and running. Lizbet assembles an interesting staff to help her and the summer story takes off - lots of break-ups, romance and even a ghost story. A fun, entertaining beach read.

“The hotel is so welcoming, the staff so attuned to every detail. What’s keeping the guests away?” *Could it be a 👻?*

After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed nineteen year old Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket fell into disrepair-until it is purchased and renovated by a London billionaire. A varied group is hired to run the hotel with the goal of getting a five 🔑 rating from a popular hotel blogger. But how can they get people to stay at the hotel when it is apparently haunted? And can Grace let go when her murder at the hands of her lover remains unsolved?

Is it even summer if Elin Hilderbrand doesn’t release a Nantucket themed beach read? I say nope! I had just finished The Identicals, which I loved! Maybe it’s because of that that this one felt, I’m not sure, slow? A bit boring? I love Elin’s books and was so excited to be given an ARC of this one. But it just seemed way too long, too slow, and with nothing major happening other than the staffs little life nuances. An affair here. And sordid past there. Some ghostly interventions and some quirky guests. It was a quick read, but just not one of my favorites of hers.

Honestly the best part of the book is the last about 10% where Elin gives you a what’s what and what to do on the island of Nantucket. If you have ever wanted to visit the island the end of this book has everything you could possibly need to do just that. Where to stay, eat, shop, beach, and even how to either fly or ferry over and the best times of the year to do so. It’s like a how to do Nantucket right pamphlet. Very helpful!

Thank you so much to Netgalley, Little, Brown and Company, and the author for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a great book for starting the summer! It was a typical Elin Hilderbrand book with lots of different stories going on and great descriptions of places, people, and all things Nantucket! The author includes a great guide to Nantucket at the end which would be a must read for tourists and visitors to the island.

My only complaint with The Hotel Nantucket was that there were so many characters and sometimes it was tricky to remember who was who! I had to make my own little cheat sheet to keep up with everyone.

Thanks so much to NetGalley for sharing this advanced reader copy with me!

**Thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.**

This was a 3.5 star read for me. It's exactly what you'd expect from an Elin Hilderbrand book. It's chock full of Nantucket goodness; she describes the island and the luxury hotel in so much detail that I wanted to book a stay immediately. The characters are entertaining. Each of them has a "secret," and some of the secrets were more ludicrous than others. My main issue with this book was the ghost piece. I'm not sure why this author has been incorporating some supernatural elements into her latest books, but I don't think it adds anything to the storyline. It felt like the ghost/haunted hotel aspect of this story was an afterthought and I think the story would have been stronger if she had focused on the human characters. But overall, a great choice for a vacation or a day by the pool.

A perfect beach read with eccentric characters, staff members with secret pasts, a ghost., good food descriptions and a real travel guide to Nantucket itself.

It’s not summer until the new Elin Hilderbrand book comes out! Elin writes in a way that I can visualize the Nantucket landscapes, see the characters and smell the salt air. In the book, the Hotel Nantucket has been haunted after a tragic fire in the 1920’s that killed chambermaid Grace Hadley, but a hundred years later the hotel is bought by a London based billionaire who restores the hotel and hires Nantucket local Lizbet Keaton to run the hotel. Lizbet hires her team to work and run the hotel and the book goes into detail of the cast of characters. I absolutely devoured this book, highly recommended!

This is the PERFECT fast, fun, Summer read!! Elin Hilderbrand lives on Nantucket Island and she LOVES it - and, just from her descriptions, so do I!!

An old hotel that has been deserted for years has been bought by a billionaire and will be completely refurbished and reopened!! Everyone on the Island is excited and talking about it. Who will be in charge? Lizbet Keaton has had a BAD breakup and left her beloved job as a result. But now, she is looking FORWARD. When she applies for the General Manager position, even she is surprised when she gets it. Without a lot of experience, and NONE with a property this large, she faces a daunting task.

But she faces it head-on and assembles a good core staff to assist her. The staff varies. From a local girl who is not sure what she wants to do with her life, to a local boy who has messed his up, a girl who has lived and loved EVERYWHERE in the world and needs a quiet place to regroup, to a retired cruise ship housekeeper who has a few secrets of her own. They all come together to make this hotel and this Summer the best ever.

Loves are found and lost and, sometimes, found again. Crimes are committed and some are punished.

And Nantucket Island is displayed in all its glory.

LOVED!! The characters and the hotel as a character was great. I enjoyed this beach read that had depth

The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand means that summer has truly arrived.

The story takes place in Nantucket as an old, once grand, hotel is rebuilt. A history of a fire in 1922 with a young woman who died took the hotel from a gem to a dud. It deteriorated over the years.

A billionaire comes in and buys it - seeking to restore it to it's former glory.

It is the story of a staff who must learn to work together. Shenanigans, and bumps in the road force them to form a strong bond and offer guests the kind of experience needed to restore the hotel.

A lovely book for a summer day - Hilderbrand continues her streak of fun summer reads.

i received an #advancedreaderscopy of this book from @netgalley & @littlebrown, but this perfect beach read is available to everyone now! 🌞

after a messy breakup with her colleague/boyfriend, Lizbet is ready for a change. so when Nantucket is filled with whispers of an abandoned, supposedly haunted hotel being purchased by London billionaire Xavier Darling, Lizbet knows this is her chance for a fresh start.

once Xavier hires Lizbet as The Hotel Nantucket’s general manager, she is put to work with redesigning and decorating the hotel, along with hiring the perfect staff. above all, Xavier’s largest demand is ensuring that they are the first hotel to receive a 5-key review from the anonymous Instagram blogger of ‘Hotel Confidential’.

together, the staff spends the summer servicing their guests & awaiting their mystery blogger while dealing with their own personal issues, romances, and scandals. everyone has a secret at The Hotel Nantucket—even the spirit of the young, restless chambermaid who was killed there in 1922.

@elinhilderbrand does it again with another amazing read! i took my time reading this because of how much I enjoyed being immersed in the Nantucket lifestyle. hilderbrand does a great job pulling you in with different character perspectives throughout the book, while providing such intricate details about the community and its attractions.

if the story itself wasn’t enough to intrigue a lavish Nantucket vaca, hilderbrand includes her own “blue book” (which pays homage to the one in this story) that details tons of recommendations while visiting Nantucket. she includes ways to get to the island, along with the best restaurants, shops, beaches, and lodging. she recommends places based on age groups, food preferences, and price. she even includes tidbits on which places have been showcased in her books or have served as writing inspiration. it was such a nice surprise to read after the initial sadness of having finished the book (and my imaginary trip to Nantucket).

yet another fun summer read from the author who writes summer reads best!! ⛱👙☀️ (also someone pls plan a Nantucket trip w/ me)

I discovered Elin because of Book of the Month with Summer of 69, and have not looked back. Now I wait for her book to announce summer and working my way through her other books.

This book did not disappoint. A hotel from 1922 has a fire which killed an employee. Over the years it lost it’s luster until a London Billionaire, Xavier Darling has it renovated. He hires Lizbet as the manager and she in turn hires a staff who share her vision. She takes chances and they pay off.

A ghost, death, love, secrets, and an eclectic cast of characters which add to the mystery of this hotel. This novel is face paced and the perfect way to start your summer.
