In my opinion, Elin Hilderbrand can do no wrong. And that goes for her latest, The Hotel Nantucket. A fascinating cast of characters - alive and not; amazing setting; and all the heart and beach we've all come to love. Read as a stand-alone or the latest in her long line of Nantucket based novels, but if you're already a fan, you'll remain one after this.
Fun Nantucket based summer read with so much going on.
You get supernatural aspects, mystery, romance and interesting characters.
Everyone has a reason to stay at the hotel.
Everyone has a reason to work at the hotel.
What is everyones story?
Many thanks to NetGalley, the publisher and author for the opportunity to read this book for my honest review. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
Elin Hilderbrand has done it again with her summer blockbuster The Hotel Nantucket.
The book revolves around Lizbet Keaton and her journey to achieve a 5 key rating at the newest hot spot destination in Nantucket- The Hotel Nantucket. The story chronicles both Lizbet's personal life, as she recently broke up with her assumed. true love, and the lives of those around the hotel. Guests, employees, and even the resident ghost bring all the summer drama.
I loved how the story was told from multiple viewpoints and the historical aspect of the ghost story. Hilderbrand's engaging narrative will have you hook line and sinker from page 1. I hope you enjoy this one as much as I did!
Elin Hilderbrand has done it again!! If you are looking for a book to kick off your summer this is for you. The Hotel Nantucket has many characters but they all tie in together to make it a feel good book. Bravo Elin! Bravo!
This was actually my first Elin Hildebrand book- I’ve heard great things about her writing so I was super excited to be approved to read an ARC of this book.
“After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed 19-year-old chambermaid, Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket descended from a gilded age gem to an abandoned eyesore — until it’s purchased and renovated top to bottom by London billionaire, Xavier Darling.”
If you tend to like multiple points of view intertwining to tell the full story you’ll most likely enjoy this one. I found this aspect to be confusing at first, but as the book progressed it really grew on me.
It’s an easy feel-good summer read and I now have another vacation spot added to my bucket list. Thank you Net Galley for the ARC!
What an absolutely delightful summer book! Elin’s newest read is set on Nantucket (of course), and this one is about the fictional Hotel Nantucket. It draws heavy inspiration from the actual (and simply amazing) Nantucket Hotel.
Our family spent a week at the Nantucket a month before I read this book, so it was wonderful to impose this story over our recent memories. The characters were beautifully developed and personable (I felt like I knew them all intimately by the end of the story), the plot was not unsurprising, but I was slightly twisted by one turn of events (in a good way), and I love when characters grow into their own people and own their lives—and that was definitely a theme.
Great summer read, and I highly recommend it!
This was an enjoyable summer read. Elin Hilderbrand always puts out great summertime reads set in Nantucket and this was no different. As usual, you have a great cast of well-developed characters. I liked Grace.
I’d recommend this to others who are looking for a quick, light read.
I received this book free of charge from NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.
I enjoy Elin Hilderbrand's books for their escapism and "beachy" summer readability. They're not any kind of deep, change-the-world books, but just a great way to lose yourself for a few hours with a light and easy read. This book fit that description to a T. Overall, I really enjoyed the characters, particularly Lizbet. The mishmash of personalities working at the hotel provided a fun bit of drama and turmoil. There were some great surprises thrown into the mix to keep you on your toes. The hotel ghost storyline was a bit over the top for me, but in the end I warmed up to that as well. So overall, this was a fun and effortless read that lives up to my expectations of the author. While I gave it three stars, it sits as a solid 3.5 star for me.
This is my fourth Elin Hilderbrand book, and again, she doesn't disappoint. A hotel restoration and a ghost! I'm in!
Like the majority of Hilderbrand's books, this book is set on Nantucket and tells stories of the people on the island, both the permanent and the summer residents, and it is another homage to the island that Hilderbrand has lived on for 29 years.
This book is about finding your own footing while navigating loss and harm done to or by you, so even though the setting, and the supernatural element, are fantastical, the emotions are real and relatable.
A nice bonus is that at the end of the book, the Blue Book - a list of the best places to eat, play, and shop on the island - that the hotel manager, Lizbet, puts together for the hotel guests in the book, is shared in case you are interested in visiting Nantucket yourself.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown for the ARC.
I am going to start by saying I am a huge Hilderbrand fan! However, this was not my favorite. I did still enjoy it, because how can you not love Elin?
On the edge of Nantucket, walking distance to downtown sits a haunted hotel. A hotel that was once grand until a fire in 1922 killed young chambermaid, Grace Hadley. The hotel is currently abandoned until a billionaire from London purchases it and restores it to the beauty it deserves. Xavier, hires the town sweetheart, LIzbet as the general manager who hires a group of 'misfits' if you will, to bring the hotel back to life.
As always, the characters are top notch with multiple POV's. Add in some suspense, sizzling romances, lies and deceit and you have the perfect summer beach read.
Many thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.
The Hotel Nantucket is in my opinion Elin Hilderbrand's best book yet!!!!! It is her first foray into "ghost stories" and I use that term lightly but she pulls it off with the signature style we love and this is a masterpiece!!!!!!!! I fell in love with these characters and their lives. I felt every emotion right along with them. Once again the queen of beach reads hits it out of the park.
This was one of my favorite books that I have read this year! The author thoroughly developed the characters and kept me surprised at every turn. I enjoyed learning about the inner workings of the hotel. I felt that I spent a cherished vacation on Nantucket and at Hotel Nantucket!

Oh my dearest Elin…. It’s currently 1:00 in the morning my time and I literally couldn’t put this book down! If you’re looking for a book with tons of characters that are easy to keep track of ( one of my favorite parts ) with a little love, crime, and mystery this is the book you need to read. I love that you always seem to connect all of your books by mentioning a previous book! Girl you slayed this book! One of the best I’ve read this year!!!!
I never miss an Elin Hilderbrand release. It is one of the highlights of my summer ever single year. This year was no different! I absolutely loved this book. Similar to her last two summer releases this isn’t what you may have expected based off of some of her earlier books but it is SO good. I love the way the story was told. I loved the characters. I love the call backs to other characters from other books!
I loved this book! I am a huge fan of Elin Hilderbrand and have read every one of her titles. I enjoyed that the plot was not rooted in a love story, rather stories of redemption and hope. Adding the history of the hotel and the ghost tied the characters together nicely.
What can I say, we are headed into summertime and Elin Hilderbrand has written another perfect book for the beach. The Hotel Nantucket is full of interesting and complex characters that will keep you on your toes. Oh and there’s a ghost haunting the hotel. It’s the chambermaid Grace that was killed in a fire in 1921 at the Hotel and she wants her murder solved.
Thank you to #netgalley and #littlebrownandcompany for allowing me to read the eARC of this book. All opinions expressed above are my own.
An armchair vacation to Nantucket! I happily devoured this delightful love letter to that island 30 miles off the coast. Elin Hilderbrand’s writing is so deliciously descriptive, I could practically feel the sand between my toes, hear the waves gently crashing on the shore, and taste the lobster rolls as I read. While portions of the plot did not quite work for me, I frankly found I didn’t care. I had been transported to beautiful, historic Nantucket, and reading this book felt as cozy as wrapping up in a hydrangea blue throw from Nantucket Looms. Also, I was thrilled to discover Elin’s many, clearly well thought out personal recommendations of places to eat, drink, stay, shop and play on Nantucket. Three and a half stars, rounded up. Many thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for an e-ARC of The Hotel Nantucket. This review reflects my honest opinion.
The Hotel Nantucket was a great read as summer is nearly here! This is signature Elin Hilderbrand. We have a little bit of everything...beach, food, romance, gossip, drama, secrets, etc. A billionaire buys and completely renovates the hotel after a tragic fire destroyed it decades ago. Along with this purchase comes a ghost that is supposedly haunting the hotel. There are a TON of characters to keep track of and each of them are hiding "something," of course. Coming in at 400+ pages, I found it slightly too long for a typical beach read, but she packs a lot of story into these pages and the character development is strong. Despite not being a huge fan of the supernatural ghost plot, I still loved it! The descriptions of food made me hungry and I particularly liked the dynamic between the characters of Lizbet and Mario. It was a fun and entertaining read, which is sometimes just what you need as the weather warms up. The Hotel Nantucket and its cast of characters will stick with me for some time. Many thanks to NetGalley for the opportunity to read an advanced copy.
A great easy summer read. Perfectly set in the summer season of new Hotel in Nantucket and the scandals that unfold between the staff and guests.
Great character development and plot, but easy to read for a nice summer page turner.
Highly recommended for all!
* I received an advanced reader’s copy of this book from NetGalley and Little, Brown, and Company in exchange for my honest review
But one thing I did love this summer was @elinhilderbrand newest novel. Thank you to @elinhilderbrand @littlebrown and @netgalley @hachetteaudio for the review audiobook, it did not disappoint. This book is about a The Hotel Nantucket that has a sorted past along with many characters who also have a past. I loved getting to meet and know the many cast of characters, and even a ghost. It felt like a good gossip sesh every time I turned a page. I was always championing for Lizbet on her new journey after her heart was broken. It is about the rebirth of a hotel and trying to achieve the allusive 5 key status. This book seemed like a great summer read. I especially enjoyed the narrator Erin Bennet.
Also happy Pub Week to this book! It just came out on Tuesday June 14th!
