I needed a book that takes me away, and Elin Hilderbrand always accomplishes that. I loved Lizbet and the secondary characters in this book. I loved the descriptions of the hotel. I could have done without the ghost angle (why is Elin writing about ghosts in her books all of a sudden?) but overall this was the absolutely perfect summer read that made me want to pack my bags and head to Nantucket.
Fans of the Blue Bistro will enjoy this nostalgic trip down Elin Hilderbrand memory lane. I looooooved everything about this book, from the depictions of the hotel, to the Nantucket Blue uniforms, to the food and the nightlife. The characters and plot lines almost take a back seat to the shining star of this lovely novel: Nantucket Island. I’m convinced no one loves this Island like Elin does, and as a long time fan, I’ve come to love this island through her eyes as well. In The Hotel Nantucket, we have a ghost, a hotel revival, The Blue Book, a blast from the Blue Bistro past, and a love story. Elin writes the heck out of the scenery, the food, THE FOOD (The way she writes food makes me swoon) the drinks, the hot chef, the hotel staff drama, weaving it all together giving us the perfect summer escape. I felt like a hotel guest, a tourist on the island, experiencing everything in 5 Star fashion. I wouldn’t want to visit Nantucket any other way.
Another fun novel from the Queen of Beach Reads!
I am embarrassed to say as a self proclaimed romance/beach read enthusiast, that this is my first Elin Hilderbrand novel and I clearly have been missing out! I am going to skip the summary of this one, because everyone and their mother (mine included) knows about this book. She's a summer staple in women's fiction and now I know why!
The Hotel Nantucket was so wonderful! There's a bit of mystery, a bit of romance, even a little paranormal thrown in there. It was like putting together a puzzle and it was so rewarding! I loved the ensemble cast and the multiple points of view. I got fully invested in most of the staff at the Hotel Nantucket. The drama and the hardships of each character was so interesting. I loved that no matter what "class" you were in everyone's hardships were seen and everyone was rooting for the hotel to get a 5 key review.
I also loved Elin's personal blue book at the end. If this midwestern girl ever find herself out east, you know I'm going back to this book to find all the hot spots I need to try. If you don't want to take a lux vacation on the east coast after reading this book, I don't know what is wrong with you!
I appreciate NetGalley giving me the opportunity to read and review Hotel Nantucket. I’m a big fan of Elin Hilderbrand’s books and thought this would be the perfect book to kick off summer with. I wasn’t wrong! This may be my new favorite Hilderbrand book. The Nantucket setting is almost like a beloved character. We see some names from other books and the staff at the Hotel Nantucket seemed like they could be old friends of mine by the end of the book. We see the characters grow and learn more about their lives as we keep reading.
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️+++
Another great summer read from my favorite Nantucket author and this one does not disappoint.
Billionaire Xavier purchases eyesore and haunted hotel and in return he wants to impress two women. One being a hotel blogger to earn her first ever “5key” review. The other lady. . . Read and find out.
X hires local (former) business owner, Lizbert. Great choice. She is motivated to not look back after long term relationship ends and move forward. Getting that 5 key review is a start. She needs to hire front desk workers/manager, bell clerks, cleaning staff, and yoga instructor. There were not many applications so picking top notch positions is not happening. Each person hired brings their own drama/story/baggage. Along with talents and unforeseen
Oh and did I mention X is offering $1000 weekly bonus to the employee of the week?
Hilderbrand never fails at bringing her characters and sites to life as she unfolds their backgrounds and stories. You can’t help but like the teenage mother, the richie rich boy (🤷🏻♀️cleaning toilets for the summer), Girl who knows 4 languages at such a young age, head of house keeping and her staff.
An early guest check in wants to stay for the entire summer, pay cash, has two children and a dog. You can’t help but fall for her children. The young girl is reading “Nancy Drew Mystery” series and this triggers her asking questions about Grace, the hotel ghost , that died in the hotel fire 100 years ago. She wants to investigate and solve a mystery. Her younger brother is a prodigy in chess and becomes the lobby challenge by everyone checking in.
Some bonuses to the reading: great play lists, references to Netflix series, references to support BLM and LGBTQ, and ‘recommendation guide’ of Nantucket by Elin ❤️ ( The Blue Book).
ARC and Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown & Co in exchange for an honest review.
Stop me if you’ve heard this one: There once was a man from Nantucket . . . .
Nothing quite kicks off summer like a new offering from Elin Hilderbrand. May was the month that came in like a lion in flyover country with record high temps and a deck that was hotter than the surface of the sun. Luckily it also went out like a lamb and the past couple of weekends have blessed us with high 70s/low 80s and a Kelly who cannot be forced to stay inside the house on Saturdays. Once the yard work was done this weekend I was 100% in the mood for a beachy read and that is Hilderbrand’s fortè. I was actually quite late to the party having only read a handful of her books, but they are a pure escape.
The story here revolves around – you guessed it – the Hotel Nantucket. Abandoned for an age, billionaire Xavier Darling has dropped a pretty penny on the revitalization of this former eyesore and hopes to make it the destination of the summer – and earn the sought after “fifth key” from an anonymous hotel blogger. The story here revolves around the staff (the GM, front desk staff, bellhops, cleaning crew, chef, yoga instructor, etc.) and a few memorable guests. Oh, and also a ghost. Yes, poor Grace who died tragically in a fire back in the 1920s is still lurking around corners patiently waiting for someone to figure out what happened to her.
This one has a little summin’ for everyone – a little romance, a little crime and blackmail, a little mystery and even some unexpected friendships.
I’ve read several books by this author and I always make sure to pick one up for summer breaks! I love the summer feel and the setting of Nantucket. What a cast of perfectly imperfect, fun characters. In this one you get mystery, romance, friendship… ghost story?! Everyone has a secret (what fun would it be without them?!) Despite their flaws or past, you will absolutely love every character. My favorite was Grace, I loved how she really gives you a good look at what’s going on in the hotel. As usual, EH did a wonderful job at creating the setting - so descriptive I’m ready to book a trip 😂
I received this from the publisher in exchange for an honest review. For me, it’s not Summer until I read the new Elin Hilderbrand book. This is one of my favorite books that I have read by Elin. As usual our book takes place on Nantucket during the summer. This book has many story lines. I have to say I was entertained by and enjoyed each and every one of them. I give Elin major kudos for writing such.a complex story, intertwining many subplots within, all while keeping the story moving at a perfect pace and keeping each story interesting. I have not found many writers able to pull off a story like this so seamlessly. Throughout the whole book I was invested in each story and never felt like I was pulled from one story to the next. Each character was given a back story that was just the right length to connect you to them and keep you interested in their story.
I have been very lucky to be able to review this book along with several of Elin’s past titles. I always look forward to Elins books and hope she continues them for many more years!!
Thank you to NetGalley, publisher, and Elin for giving me this ARC in exchange for honest review.
Elin is an auto buy and read for me. This book did not disappoint. The characters grew on me and although the story was too long/dragging IMO, I still enjoyed it! I did not see big twist and I enjoyed that as well. It made me smile. If you’d like an easy beach read this summer, this is a must grab!
The perfect summer read. Decades after the 1922 fire at the beautiful Hotel Nantucket, it is bought by non other than Xavier Darling. His motives are unclear to most but he is putting whatever it takes to get this hotel on the map, or at least his General Manager Lizbet is. Only the staff seem to know the real reason Darling bought that hotel and that is to impress two women. One being social media influencer who gives out Keys to hotels that meet her standards, 5 being the best and also unheard of. The staff is full of drama, love, friendship, and more. We get a front row to how the hotel unfolds during a summer on Nantucket.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC!
Oh my goodness this one gets all the stars. Right away the author was dropping hints and leaving little bits of information about the characters that made it impossible for me to put it down until I’d figured out exactly what everyone’s secrets were. Each character’s story wrapped up nice and neat in the end and the setting was incredible- different than other classic New England novels I’ve read before.
This is the first book I’ve read by Elin Hilderbrand…and I’m immediately going out to look for another!
4.5 stars!
I loved The Hotel Nantucket, and so wished it was a real hotel so I could book a stay just to meet all the characters. This might be one of my favorite group of characters in an Elin book. Loved the drama, romance and mystery! This was the type of book that I got lost in every time I picked it up, and kept wishing I was on the beach reading it. Definition of the perfect beach read! The best part was the Blue Book at the end of places to stay/see/visit/eat in Nantucket. It was such a special touch, and will definitely be utilizing it for my yearly visit.
What a perfect summer read!! May I tell you just how much I enjoyed this book!!! I have always wanted to visit Cape Cod and Nantucket Island so yes, I was captivated! I had a smile on my face through the whole book! Also, this is my 1st Ellin Hilderbrand book, and I can tell you that I will be looking for her other books to read!
Thank you very much to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
Summer is officially here because Elin Hilderbrand's 28th novel, The Hotel Nantucket, is here!! I spent Memorial Day weekend reading it poolside, wishing I were in Nantucket instead, eating all the scrumptious food Hilderbrand writes about so vividly in her books, and of course, staying at the fictional Hotel Nantucket, a historical hotel that burned down in 1922 and hasn't been opened since then.
The hotel has just been purchased by London billionaire Xavier Darling to be unlike anything else on the island--the goal: to get the elusive 5 keys given out by Shelly Carpenter, an anonymous hotel blogger who so far has only ever awarded 4/5 keys to the top hotels in the country.
Darling hires Lizbet Keaton as the general manager of the hotel. Lizbet is well known in Nantucket for making the restaurant the Deck a huge success with her former partner, JJ. Now she's using her marketing talents to hire a brand new staff and completely overhaul and remodel the hotel, which she does while keeping in mind that any guest could be the elusive, hard to please Carpenter and that the hotel staff must be better than the best at all times.
Hotel Nantucket reminded me of older Hilderbrand novels instead of her more recent ones like 28 Summers, Golden Girl, and Summer of '69--it had more of The Rumor or The Blue Bistro feel, which is fitting since there are references in this novel to that book (as well as to The Beach Club). I also loved how she used island gossip as a POV on occasion because it gave a small island feel. One of the MCs is Grace, a 19-year-old ghost who died in the 1922 hotel fire, and her POV, along with a few of the hotel staff, and a few of the guests (including a 9-year-old girl enamored with Nancy Drew) are the storylines that kept me turning pages of this addictive, summery read!
While not my favorite of Hilderbrand's books (that would be Summer of '69). The Hotel Nantucket is a clever and captivating read that is almost as good as being in Nantucket. It's the perfect beach read, or anywhere else read for the summer! Oh, and Hilderbrand put together an all-encompassing guide of where to eat, stay, and play guide of the island at the end of the book that is worth its weight in gold--if I ever get a chance to go there again, I'll definitely use it!
Hilderbrand's newest is out June 14th--make sure you grab a copy!
Thank you, NetGalley and Little Brown and Company for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

The Hotel Nantucket
Elin Hilderbrand
June 14, 2022
Lizbet Keaton, manager and fiance of J.J. O’Malle, ran The Deck together for a spectacular 15 seasons. When he decided to break it off with her, she found herself jobless, homeless, and feeling completely lost. Because of her talent, soon to be owner of the once spectacular Hotel Nantucket signed her on to manage the old hotel after its rehab. For years it was a fabulous place where the rich and famous came to holiday. Now it was broken, vacant and waiting for someone to purchase. Xavier Darling, the multi billionaire decided to do just that. He hired the best to put the Hotel Nantucket beyond the glory it once held. Lizbet spent the time hiring those she felt could work with his expectations to give the inn a 5 key rating by Shelly Carpenter, the ghost of instagram who rates the best of the world’s resorts. Once the hotel opens we find a wide caricature of staff and guests. Typical of Hilderbrand’s writing she gives a tour of Nantucket and all its wonders. I have read most of her Nantucket novels and loved them. This one was a bit tedious to follow however once making it to the halfway point it seemed to progress with more fun and typical edgy plot. The Hotel Nantucket will be published by Little, Brown and Company on June 14, 2022. I appreciate them allowing me to read and review Elin Hilderbrand’s latest Nantucket narrative. For those who favor her works be aware there are none of her characters we tend to find in each of her beach reads. It’s a different sort of tale but should you struggle, carry on, it worth the time. Most of all should you be planning a journey to the magical island of Nantucket she includes The Blue Book. A complete list of all the places to visit when you arrive. Worth the cost just to have it when visiting. Enjoy.
Elin Hilderbrand’s new book focuses on a formerly grand hotel trying to reclaim it’s glory under a new owner. Lizbet has been named as the general manager and, along with her assembled staff, she seeks to achieve a glowing review from a mysterious hotel reviewer. She is also contending with a ghost who perished in a lang ago fire on the property, a difficult millionaire owner, and a wide variety of guests.
This was a fun and fast read, perfect for the summer months. Nantucket is a fantastic setting and the personal lives of the characters keep the story moving. I really enjoyed the addition of the ghost Grace. She was a great plot point and an intriguing narrator for sections of the story.
Thanks to Elin Hilderbrand, Little, Brown and Company, and NetGalley for an advanced copy of this book in exchange for my honest review. Happy summer reading!
4.5 stars!
Ahhh, it was so nice to take another reading journey into beautiful Nantucket! Elin Hilderbrand leaves me wanting to travel to Nantucket every single time I read a book of hers.
Lizbet Keaton is assigned the task of taking this mediocre hotel with a bad reputation and an extensive history and flip it upside down. Getting to hear about the hotels past regarding Grace Hadley who was said to be murdered there in 1922 and is also said to still remain in the hotel, haunting the hallways within, oooooo.
I loved all the characters and the way the story unfolded. Filled with secrets, and gossip and drama while also focusing on the beautiful views, the incredible food and the hottest travel spots. Such a great summer drama!
I didn't get the chance to read Golden Girl before this one, so I have no idea who the character tie ins are in this story, so if you've read Golden Girl first, you may get an extra little surprise and update on some of those characters. That being said, this was also such a great story to read as a standalone and I'm glad I jumped to it straight away!
The last 75 pages or so includes a full travel guide to Nantucket - where to stay, where to eat, what to do and what to see. You can bet that one day when I get to travel there I will be packing this book with me and doing all the things recommended by Elin Hilderbrand herself. SUCH a wonderful touch to add to this great book!
Thank you so much Little, Brown and Company Publishing for sending me a beautiful physical advanced copy to read in exchange for an honest review!
This book is out June 14th, 2022!
When Lizbet Keaton faces relationship issues and needs a change of pace, she is offered the General Manager position at The Hotel Nantucket, a long time island property that had just undergone luxurious multi-million dollar renovations. The hotel and its staff are full of secrets, and there's a (friendly) ghost roaming the halls too!
In typical EH fashion, this is a perfect beach read with a captivating plot and all the vibes of summer - sunny days, sandy beaches, and chilled rosé paired with delicious eats. Although I enjoyed many of the characters, Grace was my absolute favorite!! I love how she was drawn right in to the drama and her internal dialogue was cracking me up from start to finish! We take a family vacation on Nantucket every year, so reading this felt like I was right back in my happy place. All the stars!
Another sunny beach read from author Elgin Hildenbrand about life, love and food in Nantucket. This one, aptly enough named THE HOTEL NANTUCKET, even includes a ‘what to do in Nantucket’ endpiece for readers who cannot get enough of Hilderbrand’s locale in her books. There is plenty to enjoy in this romp through summer with characters, alive and dead, all of whom have a clear perspective on their desires for their best lives. There are no great surprises here but loads of joy. I received my copy from the publisher through NetGalley.
Let me start out by saying I have been a huge Elin Hildebrand fan ever since Caroline on Gee Thanks Just Bought It Podcast interviewed her. Elin writes the perfect summer/beach reads, as well as dreamy winter reads. I will honestly read anything and everything she ever puts out.
My first thought when reading was can I book a room at The Hotel Nantucket? It sounds so dreamy and I sure hope Grace enjoys my presence. The characters were either very lovely, or very shady…but I feel like it made the book so good. I loved how big of a character, and presence, Grace was and how she made the hotel what it was. Also, the Marsh family, and really the whole hotel family, really came together in the end and became way more than coworkers, which I loved.
I loved that Elin referenced some of her past book series, such as the Winter Street series characters and places on the island. Also, the Blue Book she included in the back…please remind me that if/when I ever visit Nantucket, I will be using that (and of course thinking about this lovely book)!
I am so looking forward to what Elin will put out next and know either way, I will love it. If you have not read a book by Elin Hildebrand yet, first I must ask why and second I will say, you are missing out on the some of the best books out there.
4.5 ⭐️
