For some reason, I tend to go two ways on Hilderbrand books: I'm either obsessed with them (28 Summers, the Winter In Paradise trilogy) or I have trouble connecting to them. This book unfortunately was one of the latter. It's a good story no doubt and keeps you reading - I just had a hard time really connecting to the characters. It felt like there was a LOT going on, maybe too many threads and story lines, and it got hectic. I didn't love the ghost as a character, although I saw why she was introduced. Certainly readable and would be great on the beach over the summer.

The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand
Thanks to Little Brown and NetGalley for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this title all thoughts and opinions are my own.
I look forward to Elin’s new book every summer! It’s like going home to all your favorite people! This is the story of Hotel Nantucket and the people who work so hard to bring the hotel back and run it smoothly. Our other friends from previous books all get their name drop which is one of my favorite things about Elin’s writing. I love her books so much but they are ones I never want to put down which means they are done in less than a day.
In 1922 a 19-year-old maid, Grace dies in a fire at the hotel. She had been living in the attic space while having an affair with the owner.
Now on to present day Lizbet Keaton Is having a rough year. By sheer accident she finds that J.J. her boyfriend/ business partner of 15 years has been having an affair. They had been running a restaurant on Nantucket. She’s ready for a change and when she hears that London based billionaire Xavier Darling is buying the hotel she knows that’s the job for her.
After securing the job she must go about hiring her staff and preparing to open for the season. Lizbet wants to keep the fact that the hotel is haunted a secret. She’s worried that with a Grace still hanging around and haunting the hotel after 100 years that it will put people off. But it does the opposite! They book the hotel to capacity for the rest of the season. The cast of characters that she pulls together maybe inexperienced but they all understand that they have one goal to get a five 🔑 review from a hotel reviewer who had never given anything of a 4 🔑. Can they make this happen? You’ll have to check out Hotel Nantucket on sale 6/14/22 to find out!
I unfortunately decided not to keep reading this after hitting 20%. I simply could not get into this story and there was nothing interesting enough to keep me reading. Things felt choppy, and much of the writing felt juvenile and like she was trying too hard to stay relevant by using slang terms and dropping names.
I used to be a big Elin Hilderbrand fan and loved her beach reads. I haven't enjoyed anything written since her Winter In Paradise series, so I'm thinking she's probably not for me anymore!

Thanks to the author, publisher, and Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This was a great summer read. At our library, Elin, is a hit. I was glad to get the ARC because it gives me a headstart. I especially liked the Blue Book included at the end.
Very enjoyable! I highly recommend for readers who like Jodi Piccoult, Emily Giffin and Nicholas Sparks.
5 stars
On the last day of the summer season in Nantucket, Massachusetts, Lizbet Keaton is hosting the 15th annual end of summer party at the restaurant she owns with her partner JJ. When she discovers something that quite literally uproots her entire existence, it forces her to build a whole new life on a very small island.
Thankfully, when a London billionaire buys the haunted, abandoned Hotel Nantucket renovating it to become Nantucket’s newest luxury accommodations, Lizbet scores the job as general manager. Lizbet plans to rehabilitate the image of the hotel making it the top choice for guests on the island seeking luxury accommodations. Despite her inexperienced staff, Lizbet has been tasked with the goal of earning a 5 key rating from Shelly Carpenter, a renowned travel blogger, who has NEVER given a five key rating to any property. The ghost who has haunted the hotel since 1922, Grace Hadley, has other plans. Grace was a young chambermaid that was killed in the fire that rendered the gilded age hotel into mediocrity for 100 years. Grace will not stop haunting the hotel & it’s guests until her murder is known & acknowledged.
This multiple POV story had me hooked throughout the book! With a classic Elin Hilderbrand Nantucket backdrop, I couldn’t wait to jump back into the world of Hotel Nantucket each time I picked up the book. I loved getting to know each of the characters in the book and the entire time getting to see them from each other’s perspectives while also getting to see inside their minds made for a fascinating build to multiple story lines. I also appreciated the omnipresence of Grace Hadley. Because she could see & smell the vibes that each character put off, she gave small clues to the reliability of each of the characters motives. Which I thought was fun twist!
As always, with a multiple POV story, things can get confusing & a little choppy. Some story lines took longer to develop than others and you really have to put into practice your reading comprehension because they all intertwine and make for great payoff in the end!
Overall, I loved this book! Elin Hilderbrand is my favorite author because I feel like I get a little bit of everything I love in a book. Romance, a little whodunit suspense, complex characters & relationships and, of course, Nantucket!
P.S. At the end of the book, Elin gives her Nantucket recommendations which are absolutely worth their weight in gold! I cannot wait to pick up a copy of this book on pub day!
Thank you to Little, Brown & Company and Net Galley for this ARC in exchange for my review!
Ah, to be back in Elin Hilderbrand’s world! The Hotel Nantucket transported me instantly to sun-soaked Nantucket and the glamor of the newly renovated and incredibly posh Hotel Nantucket. Lizbet Keaton, hired to be the general manager by the mysteries Xavier Darling, who himself has never seen the hotel, scrambles to hire an eclectic mix of employees to get the place up and running. The cast of characters has such wonderful dynamics with one another. Even though there were a lot of them, each was so unique that I never mixed anyone up or felt confusion over who was who.
I was the littlest bit thrown off by the part of the narrative told by a ghost, but I promise it wasn’t too disruptive to the rest of the story – and I’m not one who usually enjoys that kind of suspension of reality in an otherwise realistic story. Although there was not a ton of action in the day to day goings on of the hotel, the secrets and drama of each individual employee grew and complicated over time in a way that made this book hard to put down.
As always, Hilderbrand’s descriptions of everything from room decor to cocktails leapt off the page and illustrated every aspect of the novel. I felt that things were a little rushed and maybe not entirely thought out at the very end of the story, but other than that, I loved every page.
I enjoyed this newest book from Elin Hilderbrand. I love the Nantucket setting of her books and I also loved that this book in particular had a ghost and a hotel as main characters. I've never been to Nantucket, but after reading this book and browsing the Blue Book guide that was included in the back, now I'm thinking might be the time to go. This is a great, relaxing summer read, perfectly timed release date!
A new Elin Hilderbrand novel is out! Now it’s officially summer.
This year’s offering is set in The Hotel Nantucket: a fabulous new boutique hotel with a fabulous drama-filled staff.
I enjoyed both the plot and the characters, with the exception of Marie—a ghost who haunts the hotel and narrates several chapters. Although I don’t love paranormal phenomena in my realistic fiction, I could probably learn to live with it, but Marie has modern attitudes and talks like a 20-something would today. She stuck out completely.
I also would have preferred more of a development and focus on less characters— so many storylines felt a bit scattered at times.
However, overall, this is a fun beach read.
Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for my gifted ARC.
This was a good, light beach read. I wasn’t a fan of all the characters and story lines at first but I grew to enjoy the ensemble cast. I listened to parts and read parts so I’m not sure how that affected my opinions. Overall, not my favorite Hillenbrand novel, but I’m glad she’s back to writing Nantucket rather than the Caribbean. .
The Hotel Nantucket
3.5⭐️
This is for sure a summer beach read if you’re looking for one. It centers around a new hotel in Nantucket, weaving together the lives of both guests and employees. Elin Hilderbrand really immerses you in the east coast summer!
I liked the little stories surrounding the main location they all worked. It felt like a lot of short stories woven together. This came up as a romance, and given the last book I read of hers, 28 Summers, I expected something similar. This was not that, I’d categorize it as fiction. Still a solid summer vibe if you’re looking for a light read.
Special thank you to Little, Brown and Company and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review this digital ARC of The Hotel Nantucket!
How have I never read one of her books!? needless to say im hooked and will read more! I guess I always thought her books weren't for me - boy was I WRONG. This book was fun, enjoyable, great characters, so many fun twists too! I love seeing more and more character development as the story kept going on. And a ghost to add to the layers - why not! You can't help but love this book and I can't wait to read more of hers in the future
I just finished reading The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand and ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️.
This book starts with a description of a recently acquired hotel on Nantucket that has had a long run of bad luck following a fire that killed one of the chambermaids (Grace) in 1922. Fast forward to early spring of 2022 with the hotel renovation and hiring of the hotel staff, and the story takes off from there.
Newly hired hotel manager, Lizbeth, goes through the hiring process and interviews the book’s cast of flawed and quirky characters. All of these characters have something they are running or hiding from and as the book continues their stories come out. Summer life in the hotel, along with some fun hauntings by resident ghost, Grace, will have you devouring this book.
As always, the author did a fabulous job of describing life on the island of Nantucket, but also the opulence of the Hotel Nantucket. I have read many of this author’s previous books and again was not disappointed! The story, characters and theme will make this a summer 2022 must read!!!
Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this eARC in exchange for my honest opinion and review.
I really enjoyed this latest installment by Elin Hildebrand. I particularly enjoyed all of these characters while from vastly different backgrounds came together to work hard as a team and kinda became family. Lizbet definitely pulled it together to form a great staff and to motivate them to be their best that summer.
I really loved Grace and how her character was weaved into the story. She was truly amazing giving insight into the hotel history and all that she had seen for a century. Grace gave this story an extra touch of the magical as well as the historical.
Elin’s Blue Book really makes me want to visit Nantucket sometime. It’s better than a visitor guide! What better recommendation can one get than from a local?
Thank you Netgalley for extending me an ARC of this wonderful story full of twists and memorable characters. The opinions expressed are truly my own.
I received an ARC of this book and put it off for as long as I could because I love Elin’s books and I hate when they end! But I owe it to Netgalley and Elin to get my review in before the book is published, So here it is. I loved it! I am a true Elin Hilderbrand fan. I’ve read every one of her books (a few twice) and have seen her speak as well. I know what to expect from her stories, and I am never disappointed! Once again the island of Nantucket is the star, but with many amusing and entertaining people and locations scattered throughout. There are some supernatural elements to this story, not unlike in Golden Girl, and there are several characters from previous books that make an appearance. If you are a fan you will not be disappointed! The icing on the cake is that Elin included her “Blue Book”.at the end. It’s her list of where to go and what to do on the island. I’ve been a couple of times and recognized a few places! Thank you to Netgalley for the EARC!
I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Another fun, light Elin Hinderbrand book! This is a story about a haunted hotel being restored to (beyond) its former glory. Billionaire Xavier Darling buys the hotel and hires Lizbet Keaton to manage the restoration and the hotel. Lizbet has just broken up with her long-term boyfriend JJ, the chef and owner at popular Nantucket restaurant the Deck. The story follows Lizbet as she strives to make the hotel amazing, hire amazing staff, and get the coveted 5th key from an undercover hotel reviewer.
This is a fun story - a great beach read. There were a lot of characters, so I found it hard to really connect with any of them, but I still enjoyed it.
Believe it or not, this is my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I honestly don't know why I waited so long! This book has all the makings of a perfect summer beach read: beautiful beachy Nantucket as its setting, a diverse cast of characters (including a ghost), and multiple story lines to intrigue and entertain.
This book was so light and entertaining - I gobbled it up within a few days.
The Hotel Nantucket has gone from an "abandoned eyesore" to a completely renovated (no expense spared) palace. The plucky new GM Lizbet has the daunting task of leading her green team to greatness by turning the fate of the hotel around. Their top goal is to receive the coveted "5 key" rating from a renowned undercover travel influencer.
I enjoyed the large ensemble of characters and multiple points of view. I didn't feel "cheated" that I didn't get enough of certain characters and their stories; Hilderbrand struck just the right balance.
I will definitely be jumping in to Elin Hilderbrand's back list - she has created quite a world on the island of Nantucket!
Many thanks to NegGalley, Little, Brown, and Company, and to Elin Hilderbrand for allowing me to read an advance copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. The Hotel Nantucket releases on 6/14/2022 - so grab your copy and head to the beach and dive in!
Charming. The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand was completely charming. From a cast of characters that you grow to love and are completely rooting for (even the ones you want to hate have a few redeeming qualities), to a bit of mystery mixed throughout, Elin Hilderbrand’s latest creation was a joy to read. I’m a newer Hilderbrand reader, having only read Golden Girl prior to The Hotel Nantucket, but I sense that a long time reader would find Easter eggs though out referencing prior novels. For example, there are a few references to Fiona, a past chef at the Blue Bistro, which is from a Hilderbrand novel published in 2019. I noticed this because The Blue Bistro is on my ‘to read’ list, but I’d bet there are other references. If anything, you know there will be many ties to Nantucket.
Hilderbrand fans will particularly love the addition of a “Nantucket guidebook written by an island insider,” included at the back of the book. The placement of this guidebook is a perfect compliment to this story, being that the main character writes her own guide book, The Blue Book, for guests of The Hotel Nantucket.
I recommend The Hotel Nantucket to anyone looking for a light, heartwarming read.
Special thanks to Little, Brown and Company for the digital ARC via NetGalley.
Let me preface this by saying this is my first Elin Hilderbrand book. I know she has a loyal following, so I was very excited to read The Hotel Nantucket. I really adored the story and was rooting for Lizbet and the rest of the characters throughout the book. I was invested and wanted everyone to do well. The one thing that threw me off was Grace. I had a hard time really buying into the ghost aspect of the story since that's not my typical thing and I didn't realize that was a part of the story when I began reading. It did bring an interesting addition to the plot, but I think I would have enjoyed it more with all human characters. I wavered between 3 and 4 stars depending on where I was in the book, so we'll settle at a 3.5, but rounded up for rating purposes.
I have received my copy from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. And although I got a free copy, I intent to buy my own fresh copy when it’s released. It’s that good.
I admit, I’m obsessed with Hotel Nantucket, Elin Hilderbrand novels and apparently to an island I’ve never been - Nantucket.
Hotel scenes 👏
Beach atmosphere 👏
Nantucket guide (insider style!) 👏
Elin writes so impeccably, it blows my mind that she gets better every book. How?
I don’t know how she can top her self each book. The pressure!
For those of you that don’t care about impeccable writing that keeps you turning each page (who are these people) the storyline was amazing and interesting. It didn’t wrap up too quickly, neither too slowly. It was everything. Bring it to the beach, bring it to work, bring it with you to your backyard or local park and give a copy to a friend you cherish.

Goody!! It is summer, which means another Elin Hilderbrand book--one of the best parts of the season. This one is so typical Hilderbrand (great characters, interesting plot lines all intersecting with each other, and of course, Nantucket).. However, she is expanding her writing by including Grace, the ghost, who comments and sort of moves the plot through. My favorite character was also different from my others from previous book--Wanda, the Nancy Drew reading child detective always brought aa bit of fun to the text. As usual with Hilderbrand books, everything works out for everyone, although maybe not exactly as we might think. As long as Ms. Hilderbrand keeps writing books, I will keep reading them!!
