Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for an advance copy of this book. Several years ago, I loved Elin Hilderbrand novels. Somewhere along the way, they started feeling stale and I stopped picking them up. I decided to give this one a chance and unfortunately it was a bit disappointing. In the middle of it, I found myself relaxing into the story and enjoying it a little, but ultimately the book was too long, with characters who felt very surface-level, storylines I struggled to care about, and revelations at the end that were not even slightly surprising. The worst part, however, was the absolute cringefest of reading all the attempts at modern slang every time a young character was in a scene. Hilderbrand fans will enjoy it, but it was not for me.
I love Elin Hildebrand novels and jumped at the chance to review an ARC. This one was a bit too much for my taste. I didn’t enjoy the ghost storyline at all. I did read the entire novel to give it a fair chance and it did tie it up nicely in the end but it just wasn’t for me. The ending was a nice surprise!
The Hotel Nantucket used to be a prestigious, fancy hotel until a fire in 1922 kills maid Grace Hadley. After the fire, the hotel is never is restored to its prior elegance and rumors swirl about Grace’s ghost haunting it! Billionaire Xavier Darling buys the hotel in the present-day, wanting to bring it back it life. He hires Lizbeth as the general manager and she has her hands quite full for the summer.
I adored this novel! The Hotel Nantucket and it’s staff sound dreamy, and within the first few chapters I was wishing I could jump into the story and be a guest there myself. Told from multiple viewpoints, we get to know each character, their lives and how their stories all intertwine. Without giving any spoilers, no one is necessarily who they seem to be. At first I was nervous at the length of this book, but I got through it quickly because it was just that good! This was the first Elin Hilderbrand book I ever read and I look forward to reading her many others.
Thank you to Netgalley, Elin Hilderbrand and Little, Brown and Company for the ARC.
“The Hotel Nantucket” releases June 14th. This review will be posted to my Instagram blog (@books_by_the_bottle) shortly 😊
The Hotel Nantucket review 🏖
The Hotel Nantucket follows Lizbet, the general manager of Hotel Nantucket after it is purchased and remodeled by billionaire Xavier Darling. The story also follows the backstories of several of the staff members hired to work at the hotel over the summer. Bonus perspective from Grace Hadley, a ghost who wanders the hotel.
I thought Grace’s character worked into the overall storyline well. I feel like the book was a good pace until the very end when it wrapped up quick (a little too quickly in my opinion). I also loved the “Blue Book” travel guide following the end of the book. Perfect for someone looking to visit Nantucket this summer!
Thank you @netgalley and @littlebrown for this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. Pick this one up when it’s released on 6/14/22!
Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫/5
Such a wonderful book! I love This author, particularly for her talent in creating a thoughtful story with deep characters and a picturesque summer setting. All her books are different and this one I loved. I enjoyed the many characters and the resolutions and conflicts. Such a great summer read.
The was my 13th Elin Hilderbrand book and once again, she did not disappoint!
I always anticipate Elin's novels when it starts warming up and this book is the perfect, light-hearted summer read. I got so invested in the story's characters and I love how there are always references to the people and places in her other books.
This book will transport you to an island vacation where you can expect love stories, murder, family drama, professional drama and so much more!
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I feel like this is just an instance of right book wrong time. I just could not get into it but I know that so many people have enjoyed it so I will have to give it a shot at a later time. Thank you for the opportunity.
Elin Hilderbrand is the master of making you fall in love with her characters. She did it again. The hotel, all of the staff, the ghost, I love them all. Thank you net galley for the opportunity to read this early release.
LOVED Elin Hilderbrand's latest "The Hotel Nantucket"! She does Nantucket like nobody else and her stories are just so real and engaging - I feel like I personally know the characters by the time the story ends! This book is, I believe, the second of Hilderbrand's that includes a ghost/spirit and although that isn't typically my jam, she absolutely makes it work.
Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite summer authors. Nothing gets me into summer mode like some time in Nantucket. I loved the story lines for this book. While I wasn’t left with the “oh my goodness, I have to find out what happens next” throughout the book, I did find myself constantly picking the book up because I wanted to escape to Nantucket. Better yet, escaping to the hotel trying to achieve The Fifth Key from Instagram famous, Shelly Carpenter. This book had all the elements for a perfect beach/pool read. Drama, sunshine, and feel good vibes.
This is your summer read!
The staff at The Hotel Nantucket is the blended family vacation you need to read this summer. From a murder mystery, to staff secrets (and hotel guest secrets!), romance, heartbreak, town gossip, second chances, new friendships, and so much more this book has it.
Every single member of the staff will have you in love and rooting for them by the end (even those you start to think might not have any redeemable qualities).
Take this book with you on your summer vacation!
The playlists in the book give it the perfect final touch.
Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a review.
Elin Hilderbrand delivers yet another stunning summer novel, set in the beautiful Nantucket Island, that captivates with some drama, romance, a little history, and a little mystery.
Lizbet Keaton is named the new general manager of a renovated hotel, The Hotel Nantucket, by the mysterious Xavier Darling. This summer's goal is to hire a staff and get the hotel up to the standards of the coveted fifth key by mystery blogger Shelly Carpenter. After assembling a staff, with pasts of their own, the summer is underway. Overseen by the ghost of Grace Hadley, a chambermaid who tragically lost her life in 1922 yet remains with the hotel peacefully wandering the halls, hoping one day for her murder to be solved.
I was immediately charmed by this book. The setting - the beautiful island of Nantucket - as well as the character of The Hotel Nantucket had me drawn in from the start. I enjoyed the building of the characters, each with their own stories, leaving me wondering how it all connects. Grace's mystery adds a little something extra as well, and the book really has something for everyone.
A bonus at the end was the Blue Book, a guide to Nantucket written by Elin. It is so sweet, thoughtful, and truly demonstrates the passion and effort that went into developing this book and why it was so easy to fall in love with the island when reading, just as she did!
Thank you to Netgalley and Little Brown & Co for an eARC in exchange for an honest review. Will be posted on my IG @manis.and.manuscrtips on 6/11/22 just ahead of pub day.
Elin does it again! I loved going to back to Nantucket and reconnecting with some of the characters from her previous books! This was very well written and the perfect summer read!
It was so fun to get to experience the opening of the new Hotel Nantucket and everything that went into its seamless opening. My favorite character was the hotel’s ghost, Grace!
I will be honest though and say that I was a little worried about keeping up with all of the characters at first. Some of them just made an appearance, so it wasn’t hard to keep up with the storyline at all! I was so sad that this book ended!

REVIEW
The Hotel Nantucket is a bright and breezy summer novel. It’s a perfect blend of setting, characters, and story. It is a fun and delightful read. The hotel is both elegant and beachy.
There are so many fun characters in this book that it’s too hard to pick a favorite. Here are just a few:
-Lizbet Keaton is the heartbroken general manager whose goal is to make the Hotel Nantucket the undisputed best hotel in the world.
-Louie Marsh Is a six-year-old chess prodigy in seersucker shorts, spending his summer beating everyone he plays in chess.
-Grace Hadley, the kindly 19-year-old ghost who died in a fire in the hotel in 1922
-The renowned and romantic chef of the hotel’s Blue Bar, Mario Subiaco, is as delicious as the food he prepares.
Elin Hilderbrand’s writing is smart and easy to read. You will want this in your beach bag. Told from multiple points of view, this charming story has depth, drama, and sparkle. Even romance and mystery are woven throughout. In a word, this book is delicious
Hilderbrand, who lives on Nantucket, sets all of her stories there. She has written over thirty books. Her most recent novels include Golden Girl [2021), and 28 Summers (2020)
Thanks to Netgalley and Little Brown for an advance reading copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

Hotel Nantucket is a fun beach. There are a lot of characters and moving parts to this story. Sometimes it can be too much. A British billionaire buys the hotel and wants it to reopen and have Shelley Carpenter give it it five keys - highest rating. This story has everything you would want in a beach read - romance, mystery and a wonderful setting. Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown and Company for the E-ARC. This is my own opinion.
Every year I look forward to reading the newest book by Elin Hilderbrand. This book felt so different then her normal books, but I still really enjoyed it! One day I am going to visit Nantucket, after reading about it in most of her books.
This book centers around The Nantucket Hotel, which closes in 1922 after a fire. It has been revamped and reopened for business again, years later. In this book we meet a variety of characters who have come to work at the hotel for the summer. I found I loved some of the characters and hated others. With them they bring friendship, secrets, love, and so much more. There’s even a ghost story tied into it all. Overall, I thought it was a really fun story. It kept me engaged, and I was so curious to see where it would go. If you’re looking for a fun read this summer, I recommend checking this one out!
As someone who has read nearly all of Hilderbrand's books, I do look forward to a new one each summer. The Hotel Nantucket is significantly better than last year's Golden Girl. The format has different character's point of view mixed within each chapter this time, rather than a chapter devoted to a particular character. The island's point of view is in there as well, the omnipresent narrator that she started using (which I hate).
This book focuses on the characters that are working at The Hotel Nantucket, recently remodeled and ready for action. Lizbet is the general manager, reeling off a breakup from JJ. Edie and Alessandra work the front desk. Chad and Madge work with the cleaning crew. There are others, but these are the ones that we get the most stories from.
I enjoyed the characters and their stories and the way they ran the hotel, but I loved some of the minor characters the most (Wanda! Grace!). This book almost seemed like a love letter to many of Hilderbrand's previous works (she name drops plenty of places and characters from her other books) and to the island of Nantucket. In fact, at the end of the book, she has an entire (lengthy) chapter devoted to the real-life places of Nantucket that she likes and recommends.
I did enjoy the book, but it was a bit long with not a lot happening at times. For Elin fans, you'll love it.
Obsessed! Another incredible book by Elin Hilderbrand. An old Nantucket hotel with a haunted past gets a makeover by British billionaire, Xavier, and it's Lizbet's job to manage the hotel! She has just broken up with her boyfriend and desperately needs a change. We follow Lizbet and other hotel staff (and a friendly ghost) as they prepare for the hotel opening and Xavier's arrival at the end of the summer. To add a little pressure to the mix, Xavier is desperate the win 5 keys, the highest rating of a famous travel blogger. Thank you, NetGalley!!
Thank you to NetGalley and Little Brown and Company for the advanced readers' copy of The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand.
This book is exactly what we all crave from a summer read! It’s light and funny, there is romance and some heartbreak, plus a few twists and turns. Elin Hilderbrand writes from multiple points of view, similar to Golden Girl. There are so many characters that you really get to know throughout the book - they are a quirky bunch, from characters you love to those you love to hate (but end up just kind of loving?!). Even Grace the ghost ends up just making sense as a part of this story (I wasn’t sure at first - but Grace was meant to be there as much as the rest of the characters!).
Hilderbrand included so many descriptive elements - from the gorgeous Nantucket surroundings, to all the tiny details of the hotel, to the mouthwatering descriptions of the food and drinks. You really feel like you are there experiencing it all with the characters.
This was a fun read. Silly at times, heartfelt at others. If you’re a fan of Elin Hilderbrand and / or looking for a great book to enjoy this summer, I definitely recommend picking this one up.
It’s not summer without an Elin Hilderbrand book. She really has mastered the Beach Read. I have read all of her books and I love to search for the “Easter Eggs” (the cameos, the mentions of characters and places from her previous books) and this book is chock full of those. The Hotel Nantucket is just a whole vibe. She describes it so perfectly that you want to stay there. She always includes the most scrumptious food descriptions! The best part of this book is the peek into the difficult guests and the stories behind their reviews. Her blue book at the end is full of Nantucket places that make me want to plan the ultimate girls’ trip! Hilderbrand has a knack for creating characters that are cool, hip and that draw you into her world. This one is no different! It also had a little ghost story thrown in that I thought might be off putting but I loved it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for an ARC in exchange for an honest review. 5 stars all day.
