Nothing says summer to me quite like a new Elin Hilderbrand novel. The Hotel Nantucket comes out June 14, 2021 and is not one to miss! It was a lengthier book but I enjoyed it all especially the cast of characters and how they all interacted with each other which is something I associate with Hilderbrand and of course the beautiful Nantucket scenery. This story was different than other books because it included a paranormal/supernatural element in the ghost of Grace. I actually loved this addition to the story and thought it worked really well all together. The Hotel Nantucket tells the story of a island staple, under new ownership with a new renovation, opening for the summer season. There are a lot of connections and characters from other books tied into this one. I liked how it had realistic ups and downs and followed the whole summer season at the hotel. I wouldn't mind reading another book about this hotel if it became a series!

As always this author delivers! I scoop up every single book of hers and enjoy everyone. Elin has the ability to tell a story like no other and enthrall us along the way. Absolute great summer read!

This is my first Elin Hilderbrand book and I really enjoyed it!
There were a lot of characters introduced at first and it was a little confusing at times to keep staright who was who. But after a little bit I was really invested in each individual story as well as how they all tied together. Each character was unique and had their own issues and secrets to deal with which kept me intrigued. I loved how everyone was intertwined and impacted by each other’s stories.
I loved the setting and found how the author described everything to be really captivating. It made me wish I was there!
Finally, the main character, Lizbet, was my hero! She was strong, sweet, caring, and totally in control of her life (even when she thought she wasn’t). Her story really resonated with me!

This book had it all, romance, heartbreak, secrets, mystery, and ghosts. It’s a great beach read!

In 1922 a fire destroyed the Hotel Nantucket and killed 19 year old chambermaid, Grace Hadley. In the time since, it’s never quite reached its potential again until English billionaire, Xavier Darling buys it and luxuriously restores it. He hires Lizbet Keaton as it’s general manager. He tells her he bought it to impress two women: Shelly Carpenter, who reviews hotels but has never given a 5 (key) review and he wants that 5th key, and another woman that he keeps a secret.

This may be my favorite Elin Hilderbrand novel! I really enjoyed it and became very invested in the characters. The book centers around the hotel and the staff that Lizbet puts together. They are the heart of the story and they each have a story of their own with their own secrets and pasts. The book is part love story (of course!), part mystery and intrigue and part ghost story (don’t forget about Grace Hadley, the chambermaid that was killed in the 1922 fire!). I found myself rooting for the hotel to get that 5th key, I fell in love with the characters that worked at the hotel - they felt like a family by the end of the book - and of course Nantucket itself is a central character of the book as well.

One of the best surprises of the book is the last chapter of the book where Elin Hilderbrand puts together her very own Nantucket resource guide - a perfect resource for anyone planning a trip to Nantucket! I followed several of the Instagram accounts she included in this gem of an addition and it was fun to hear a description of the real life places that have given inspiration for so many of her books.

All in all, this was the perfect book to start my summer. Thank you to @netgalley and @littlebrown for the advanced digital copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Book comes out June 14!!

Elin Hilderbrand's latest novel is about a spectacularly renovated hotel with a ghost. There are lots of interesting characters, a Nantucket setting that feels real, a few romances, a bit of mystery, just right for a summer beach read. This book did not feel as intense as her recent novels. I generally avoid ghost stories, but this one was not overwhelming and was a bit reminiscent of her last novel, "Golden Girl." While I enjoyed this book, it's not in my top 5 by this author. The Blue Book at the end, a tour guide to Nantucket, is a fantastic addition.

What a perfect summer read! I loved this, and would consider this my second favorite Elin Hilderbrand book (it's really going to be hard to beat 28 Summers). Thanks to @netgalley and @littlebrown for the early copy!

Synopsis: Fresh off a break-up with her boyfriend of 15 years, Lizbet Keaton gets a job as the general manager of the newest luxury hotel in Nantucket--the Hotel Nantucket. Along with a variety of characters, each with their own intricate back stories--both good and bad--Lizbet strives to make this hotel successful and live up to the standards of the billionaire owner.

I loved almost everything about this. All the characters are just wonderful (even the ones that are kind of terrible, you still end up rooting for all of them.) I loved all the backstories and how they came together, and the surprises that emerged about the characters toward the end (especially Magda!)
*
The story is light and fun and summery, but still really touching. It's so easy to get swept up in, and the multitude of POVs and sub-plots makes it fly by. It was also so fun to see references to characters from other books pop up (and I'm not quite through the backlist so I'm sure I missed some).
*
My only slight negative at first was the ghost, but she grew on me by the end, and I actually loved the way her story concluded.
*
Highly recommend this one!

Elin Hildebrand books are always my favorites. I quickly fall in love with the characters, and miss them once I finish the book. The Hotel Nantucket was no exception. I loved seeing all of the characters come together to work together at the hotel. They each had very different backgrounds, but came together for a single purpose. Many of the characters found a second chance at Hotel Nantucket, and I loved cheering them on as they grew and overcame their pasts. I was a little hesitant about the ghost part, but it wasn’t over the top and was tastefully done. There were a lot of moving parts, but I still really enjoyed it! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy!

DNF @ 30%

*2 stars*

ew ew ew i hate DNFing arcs cause it feels like i let people down but I CAN'T

this book is marked as a mystery. it is advertised as a mystery. it has such POTENTIAL to be a mystery. however, this was no mystery. basically, all the characters has these secrets about their pasts that you were supposed to be eager to find out about. however, I had no interest in finding this out. and I KNOW people are going to come at me and say "you hardly got into the book, there was no time!" well, a book shouldn't take that long to actually entertain people. the reason this is two stars is because it has such potential to be mysterious, eerie, and entertaining, but Elin Hilderbrand simply just didn't take that extra step. i understand that she usually writes romance, do maybe her romance books are better? idk, but I'm quite sad that i didn't enjoy this one as much as i thought i would.

also: i AM absolutely obsessed with the main character, Lizbet, she is a QUEEN. but i was in a major reading slump because of this book, so maybe i will pick it up again some other time? i miss Lizbet :'(

ANYWAYS...
that's my review! i hope you enjoyed? idek anymore

Elin Hilderbrand can write nothing wrong. In her latest book, The Hotel Nantucket, she creates another incredible beach read for summer. Quickly becoming the beach read queen, Hilderbrand takes us to an old haunted hotel in Nantucket where a new owner is trying to change the stigma of this place. Grace, the ghost of the hotel, has other plans. I love this author. I love this book!

Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of the summer beach read, and I eagerly anticipate the new release each summer. I became a fan several years ago, and then delved into her back catalog, eager for more. She definitely has a formula. The books are always set in Nantucket, and could there be a more perfect summer destination? There are always fun characters, often family members, and always a variety of types. There is usually a little mystery or drama. But somehow the author whips it all together into the most light and fluffy souffle of a read that leaves this reader longing for more! Even though I have loved all her books, there are some I love more than others. In recent years she has dipped occasionally into more dark but real life touches, like people dying. I was happy that this read was back to former formulas of rich and likeable characters, a couple of not so likeable ones to add spice, a frothy love story, a redemption tale, and characters with a couple of surprises.

But this book had something that I don't believe any other Hilderbrand book has had, a ghost, and what a spunky delight she is! Grace has been haunting the Nantucket Inn for over a hundred years. She died in a fire that destroyed parts of the hotel, but it wasn't an accident, it was murder, and she wants someone to figure this out! Graces's story added a delightful twist to the storyline.

Hilderbrand's books often feature restaurants and I bow down before her ability to write food porn. She can write descriptions of restaurant goodies that make me want to get on a plane, then a ferry, to land on Nantucket island and taste these immediately! This book excels in this regard. I want a famous chef to fall in love with me and make food that makes me helpless to resist. Another Hilderbrand trick, I don't know the official name, but she'll have a phrase or something her character keeps going back to. In this book it's the main character Lizbet, who has been through a bad breakup. Remember she's a Heartbreaker, not heartbroken, she keeps reminding herself.

The Hotel Nantucket is Hilderbrand at her best, in my opinion. She lets her characters have fun, grow from bad times, and as often happens in her novels, by the end of another Nantucket summer, everyone has changed for the better. Best read with a flute of champagne while lolling in front of a gorgeous pool, or the ocean. I'm just sorry it had to end!

Entertaining story of an old hotel that is haunted by a woman who was killed in a fire at the hotel way back when. The hotel is purchased by a rich man from England and he hires a manager to run the hotel. The woman manager then hires help and slowly gets the hotel up and running.

Spoiler alert: a few years ago, I attended a weekend in Nantucket in which the entire weekend was hosted by Elin. It was held at the hotel where this book is based on. It was so much fun. And so is Elin's new book. I loved everything about it - the well-developed characters, the hotel, and of course, beautiful Nantucket. There were times I smiled, and there were times when I shed a few tears. (when Kimber & Co. left). My favorite of all of Elin's books is The Blue Bistro. It is now in second place and The Hotel Nantucket wins the 5 keys in first place. I can't wait til pub day - I plan on telling all my Insta buds and blog readers that The Hotel Nantucket will be THE HIT of the Summer!!

This book did not disappoint! I love a good Elin Hilderbrand book for a summer read. This book is about a hotel on Nantucket that gets a facelift and a new staff. The hotel is haunted by Grace, a ghost, who died in a hotel fire back in 1922. Great cast of characters.
Thanks to NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book.

🔑 The Hotel Nantucket 🔑

Another auto-read author whose books make me want to be on vacation immediately, if not sooner. Many of her books completely sweep me up, but I had trouble really connecting with any of these characters. There were a lot of moving parts, so I struggled with feeling like I actually got to know the characters. I did love the premise, the setting, the plot, and Elin’s writing was on point (per usual). These just weren’t my people. But maybe they’ll be yours!

Thanks to NetGalley, Little Brown & Company, and Elin Hilderbrand for the advanced copy of this one!

Despite what I initially thought was an odd addition with the ghost, I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I wasn't sure how Elin was going to incorporate that in and feared it was going to take away from her usual beach read. It absolutely did not and I quickly came to love how Grace's storyline weaved into the novel. As always, I enjoyed the amount of description given and found myself "transported" to Nantucket (plus, the addition of the blue book at the end was an incredible inclusion!). I found the characters and their conflicts all very believable - laughing along, relating, and cheering on their progression. I could not put this book down and continued thinking about it when I absolutely had to put the book down. Highly recommend - a great read to start off my summer. Well done!

I absolutely LOVED The Hotel Nantucket, by Elin Hilderbrand. It may even be her best book yet! Yes, it may top “The Blue Bistro” as my favorite. If you are an Elin fan, like I am, you’ll recognize several of the island characters. I’m afraid to say too much, because I do not to add spoilers.
Thank you to #netgalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read the advance copy.
My hard copy is on order!

Elin has hit this one out of the park, per usual! You instantly fall in love with every single character (even a ghost) within the first pages of The Hotel Nantucket. Her writing makes you feel as if you are a guest at the prestige hotel. I read it in two days, although like all her novels, I never wanted it to end! The insight that Elin has into the hospitality industry is what gives this book life. She does not skimp on the details of the hotel, of the food, of the decor. It’s like your there. Well done!

Summer isn’t summer unless you have an Elin Hilderbrand book stuffed into your beach bag. Her newest, the Hotel Nantucket, doesn’t disappoint, so grab your Faux Paus from LoveChild, slather on the sunscreen and head to M Street to dive into this beach read.

Like most of her books, the Hotel Nantucket, takes place on our little island neighbor. The hotel is drenched in history, but deteriorating until a rich out-of-town developer, Xavier Darling, sweeps in to save the day. Will the hotel maintain its original charm or will it be taken over by someone who’s never even been to Nantucket? However, he must have hired a good decorator because Elin is able to perfectly describe the vibes in only the way she knows how.

The first chapter will have you dreaming of riding the ferry to plop down in the hotel lobby’s hydrangea blue armchairs while waiting to sign in to your newly-made suite. We are introduced to a collection of characters, each with their own story. We meet a frazzled mother with two children who suspiciously pays all cash to stay for weeks. We meet a young woman who appears to shamelessly flirt with any clientele with a thick wallet. Blonde Sharon, the town gossip, always has her eyes on who’s coming and going… and with who. Shelly Carpenter, a name without a face, who runs a popular IG account with scathing hotel reviews. Magda, a top employee and mother figure, with a top secret personal life…. And more.

It’s not an Elin book with an element of romance, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Lizbeth spent years working at the local beach bar, living the life of a local – until she finds out her boyfriend has been exchanging text messages with a Rated-X rating . Of course, there’s fresh meat in the literary form of the new hot chef at the hotel bar. The romance helps propel the story along, and has you feeling all the same emotions as the characters – not rolling your eyes at cheesiness. One of the best parts of this book is that multiple characters from her other books pop up. Often she throws in a cameo or two like Mack from the Beach Club and Fast Eddie Real Estate, but one of the most-loved from the Blue Bistro has a leading role. Elin-loyalists will love it and newbies should automatically go grab the rest of her collection.

A new element to her storytelling is that THERE’S A GHOST. This isn’t a secret, as it’s in the book’s regular description, but I read that myself as a huge HUH? across my forehead. I don’t want to ruin the story or have you scratching your head wondering if this will deter the usual Elin brand. (FYI, it won’t.) In fact, it perfectly adds a bit of mystery and history that’s surprising, but you won’t be disappointed. It’s not a thriller in any way, so don’t worry. So if you’re up for it, hop on the ferry and head to the real Hotel Nantucket who created a “Beach Read Suite” based on some elements from the book. See you there!

FYI: Elin announced that she plans to retire in 2024, but what that officially looks like – we’ll have to wait and see. Until then, I highly recommend stocking up on her whole collection – I’ve transferred them from paperback to my Kindle so I have them at all times.

My top recommendations are: the Blue Bistro, the Paradise Series, A Summer Affair and the Winter Street Series.

It's not summer without a new Elin Hilderbrand book and a trip to Nantucket! I really liked the characters and the first summer season of the newly renovated Hotel Nantucket. I especially liked the ghost of Grace Hadley, a chambermaid who died in a fire at the hotel in 1922, who haunts the hotel to the delight of the guests. This is a great, fun read and a must for beach bags this summer!
