I must say that I was skeptical of a story featuring a ghost, but Elin Hilderbrand is a master! I expect to see this book in every beach bag this summer. In some ways this book reminded me of watching a show like The Love Boat to see who is coming aboard, except the boat is actually The Hotel Nantucket. The story centers around the staff, Grace the chambermaid ghost, and the guests. I was afraid the storyline would be confusing with so many different characters to follow, but the author develops the story very well. Definitely a must for Summer 2022!

Four and a Half Stars ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭒

The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand is a lovely summer book, with interesting characters and an even more exciting location. This heartwarming story includes a historic, infamous old hotel and the ghost that haunts it.

The Hotel Nantucket was once a thriving golden age hotel that catered to the rich and famous on the island of Nantucket, Massachusetts. After a fire, that killed a chambermaid, Grace, it fell into disrepair, and then became a budget friendly hotel, and eventually, it was abandoned and became a party place for teenagers and an eysore on the Island.

Now, the hotel has just been bought by a London billionaire, Xavier Darling, and he hires Lizbet as his hotel manager. He wants a high-end luxury hotel worthy of getting the elusive five keys from hotel reviewer and blogger Shelly Carpenter. Lizbet hires a small staff of interesting employees who all have their own secrets and motivations for wanting to work a The Hotel Nantucket. Oh, and the hotel is haunted too. The chambermaid that died in the fire back in 1922, Grace, haunts the hotel in hopes that someone finds out that she was actually murdered in the hotel.

I was highly anticipating this book, and I was not disappointed. First, I loved the setting. An old decrepit hotel on Nantucket Island is a wonderful place for a book. The author's descriptions of the hotel made me feel like I was gliding through the rooms, just as Grace the ghost does throughout the story. I was transported to historic Nantucket Island for the summer along with the charming cast of characters.

The characters were all well developed, varied, and fascinating. They all had secrets that we get to discover as we read the story and get to know them all better. They are not the usual characters to work in a hotel, and that makes them so much better. It was easy to root for them all, and hope that the hotel gets the rating that they were after.

I highly recommend The Hotel Nantucket to anyone who enjoys women’s fiction. I received a complimentary copy of this book. The opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

Nothing says summer quite like an Elin Book. This one has the focus on the hotel…. But more so the people. It’s a fun adventure getting to know each new one as they become a real family living and working in the hotel. It’s fun… and messy… and complex all blended together. I loved all of the Minnesota references… it made my MN heart happy. Thanks to NetGalley for the early read.

Elin Hilderbrand just doesn’t disappoint. Her books are so perfect for summer. I loved all of the characters in this book.

Honeys, it’s officially summer!! You know this because Elin Hilderbrand is out with a new beach read and is serving us sass n steaminess! When a 100 year-old ghost says “Sorry, not sorry”, you know this story is off to a great start. This has more humor than any other of Hilderbrand’s novels. She, however, keeps the same quaint and easy-to-read vibes as any of her other Nantucket tales. I would say that she does try to be a bit too hip with phrases those Gen Zers use. I also dislike the dragging out of some character’s storylines (ex: Chad, Kimber, etc). Nonetheless, it is a must-read this summer!!!

The Hotel Nantucket is based around a fictitious extravagant, yet cozy and welcoming hotel in Nantucket.

The hotel has had several owners, and seems to be cursed with bad luck until billionaire Xavier Darling buys it, spends millions remodeling it, and then hires go-getter Lizbet Keaton to manage it. Lizbet staffs the hotel with a variety of characters and gets to work with running it through the summer months.

I enjoyed all of the characters in this book, even though there were several to keep track of. I also liked that there were several things included within the plot, such as romance, the mystery of who and when Shelly will show up, and what will happen at the end of the summer season. I felt that even with all of the characters and plot elements involved, the story still moved a bit slow in the middle. Although I enjoyed this book, it wasn’t something that I couldn’t wait to pick back up.

Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the ARC.

Even without knowing the title, if you've ever read an Elin Hilderbrand book, you know the book is going to take place in Nantucket. After a breakup, Lizbet becomes the general manager of a renovated Hotel Nantucket owned by a billionaire who is seeking the elusive "5 Keys" hotel rating. The goal of getting that rating winds you thorugh multiple viewpoints from the hotel staff, to Lizbet and Grace, the ghost who lives in the attic. This was overall a fun, summer read with the perfect combination of mystery. This book releases on 6/14/22. Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown Books for an ARC of this book.

I will admit it has been quite a few years since I have read any of Elin Hilderbrand's books. I am not really sure why I haven't been reading her releases. But the Hotel Nuntucket was a reminder that it has been too long and I won't let this happen again.

The minute I picked up this book it sucked me in. It has been some time since I have stayed up late reading in bed but this book made me do it. lol.

Lizbet is looking to create the new. She has suffered a brutal betrayal from her long-time boyfriend and co-worker. She is starting over from scratch. As a Minnesotan who has fallen in love with Nantucket after the last fifteen years, she doesn't want to leave the island and must find a new job. She accepts the GM job at The Hotel Nantucket and works to assemble a staff that can earn the elusive 5 Keys from a famous hotel blogger.

This is a perfect beach read but with some mystery. There is a large cast of characters who are so widely varied that it is easy to keep track of them and not get confused. There are twists and turns with the characters that I often don't see coming which makes the book even more delightful.

After reading this book, I am ready to pack my bags and head to this charming island.

I received an ARC of this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. All thoughts & opinions are my own.

⭐Book Review ⭐
Thank you to the publisher and netgalley for the Advance Review Copy.

When her life-long boyfriend screws up their relationship, Lizbet takes on the challenge of running an old abandoned hotel that has been recently renovated by a billionaire. This is no ordinary hotel though; as legend has it, it's haunted!

The hotel owner, Xavier, tasks Lizbet with fully staffing the hotel, training, and everything else the comes with hotel management.

As we get to know the many different staff, we learn about their drama as they struggle not only personally but also with trying to get along with their teammates.

Overal, I liked it. This is a book with many storylines and many characters, but not much plot focus. It's very much a character-driven story, but with so many of them, I'd almost venture to call it character soup. Some of the staff I really liked, others not so much. I found myself  questioning why some stories were there as they added unnecessary bulk. As a result of so much bouncing back and forth, it took me a good chunk of the book to care about anyone, other than Grace, the 100 year old relentless ghost who is determined to have the world discover how she died. Her, I connected with the most and  immediately. I kept wanting to learn more about the others from her eyes. She made the overall plot interesting. I had hoped the story contained a bit more ghostly encounters than it did. But that's okay. My bad for expecting that. As I read, I wondered who the main character really was. I thought it was Lizbet, the GM, then Grace, the ghost, but I figured out in the end I was wrong. The real star and main character here is the hotel! While a location, the hotel is a character in itself, brought to life before the pages with its homelike decor, secrets, and extravagance!

I have loved the author's other books. I was excited to read this one.  While this one was good, my favourites are still: 28 Summers, Summer of 69, and, Blue Bistro. Those were amazing!

But this is still an interesting read if you don't mind a book that jumps from story to story and character to character. Just give it time, and by the end you'll be rooting for most of them!  The ending was a nice surprise. Although left me with some unanswered questions; for the sake of keeping this review spoiler-free, I won't list them. The added bonus of the 'Blue Book' at the novel's end was a nice addition. I've never been to Nantucket (I'm well familiar with Martha's Vineyard though) but if I ever plan a trip to Nantucket, I'll definitely reference the 'Blue Book'.

This was my first Elin Hilderbrand novel and I really liked it! I did find the characters hard to follow at times, not sure who I was reading about with the multiple viewpoints of the book. I usually look for a little bit more substance in my books, so I don’t know if I’ll be reading more from this author. I thought it was a cute story, but quite a few storylines could have been discarded or completed upon completion of the novel. I did love the Blue Book at the end! I thought it was super cute. Overall, an easy read, but not necessarily the genre for me.

Elin does it again! Can she do no wrong when it comes to the Nantucket Novel?

I loved how I could easily visualize the Hotel Nantucket, despite it not existing anywhere. I wanted to lay in the crisp sheets and head to the bar for the cocktail hour and the disco ball. But mostly, I wanted to get to know the characters and live in their world.

Elin is such a talented writer and this book is no exception. I'm tempted to purchase a physical copy just for The Blue Book, Elin's Nantucket recommendations, at the end.

Lizbet Keaton is newly single and ready to start fresh. As the brand new General Manager of the newly refurbished Hotel Nantucket, Lizbet is determined to impress her billionaire boss, Xavier Darling, and social media guru and hotel connoisseur, Shelly Carpenter. While the Hotel Nantucket checks all the luxury boxes on the outside, it's debut summer isn't all smooth sailing. With a cast of staff members bringing their own baggage and secrets, and a long-rumored ghost haunting the halls, will the Hotel Nantucket survive the high demand of the island's summer season?

This was a classic beachy, summer read. Hilderbrand is sticking to what she knows and writing another Nantucket story that captures the essence of the island and makes you want to squish your toes in the sand while diving into this story.

There were many characters making up this story which, at times, I found hard to follow and track. With rotating narrators, it wasn't always immediately clear who I was following. I absolutely LOVED the addition of Hilderbrand's own "Blue Book" (detailed guide to Nantucket) and it made me want to book a stay on the island ASAP. I would recommend to anyone looking for a light, easy summer read. Overall, I enjoyed this book. I would give it a 3.5, if I could rate half stars!

Buckle up for a fun adventure with a whole new set of Nantucket characters. The Hotel Nantucket is a rich story that centers around the reopening of the island hotel that is haunted. You will fall in love with the staff, the local eateries, and what it takes to become a top hotel by the number one critic. The book is set up to have many books in the series. Make sure to write down your characters. They are all important but will require a cheat sheet. Enjoy this summer on Nantucket in the newly remodeled hotel.

Elin Hilderbrand fans will love this book from the beginning to the end. I was especially intrigued with the very informative travel guide to Nantucket that she includes in the afterword. If you're planning a trip there, it's definitely worth taking a look at it.

The Hotel Nantucket offers a colorful cast of characters each with their own troubles including a ghost. It's fun while touching on current topics like threatening via text to post intimate photos as a way to extort money from a former lover.

Lots of local place names including hotels and restaurants make this one of the more enticing summer reads I've come across in a while. It definitely makes me want to visit Nantucket again!

Hotel Nantucket

I was super excited to read this new release by Elin Hildebrand who also wrote one of my all time favorites 28 Summers. This one did not disappoint !
This story follows Lizbet who becomes the general manager of a new hotel in Nantucket after being heartbroken. It follows the back stories of all of the different hotel staff and how they interact with each other and the guests. The character development in this book was perfect. I felt like I knew each character and kept wanting to find out more.
When I first read that this story also includes the ghost of a chambermaid who died in a hotel fire many years before, I wondered how this would fit in with the rest of the characters’ story lines, but it did seamlessly.
I did find the ending somewhat quick, but it didn’t effect my opinion of the book which I thoroughly enjoyed!
Another bonus of this book was the Nantucket travel guide and the end of the book. I read through almost all of it and it had me wishing I could fly up to Nantucket this weekend.
Thank you Net Galley and Little Brown Publishing for this ARC copy in exchange for my honest review. Check this book out when it is released on June 14, 2022!

Many thanks to NetGalley, Little, Brown and Company and Hachette Audio for gifting me both a digital and audio ARC of the latest book by Elin Hilderbrand, narrated by Erin Bennett - 5 stars for a book that must be in your beach bag this summer!

A fire in 1922 killed chambermaid Grace Hadley, and as the hotel as fell into ruins since then, it is rumored that Grace haunts the hotel to this day. Then London billionaire, Xavier Darling, purchases the hotel and makes it into a stunning showpiece - his goal is to achieve the coveted 5 keys from a social media hotel influencer. Xavier hires Lizbet, a staple on Nantucket, to be the general manager and she assembles an eclectic staff. Grace, meanwhile, is determined that the truth be told about her death.

As in all Hilderbrand's books, this one is an ode to summer and I absolutely adored it. The characters were all fun and the different points of view (including Grace's) kept me racing to the end. It had the perfect touch of emotion, romance, and did I mention summer?

After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed 19-year-old chambermaid, Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket descended from a gilded age gem to a mediocre budget-friendly lodge to inevitably an abandoned eyesore — until it's purchased and renovated top to bottom by London billionaire, Xavier Darling. Xavier hires Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton as his general manager, and Lizbet, in turn, pulls together a charismatic, if inexperienced, staff who share the vision of turning the fate of the hotel around. They face challenges in getting along with one another (and with the guests), in overcoming the hotel's bad reputation, and in surviving the (mostly) harmless shenanigans of Grace Hadley herself — who won't stop haunting the hotel until her murder is acknowledged.

I read this at my lake cabin, and I can confirm this is a great summer read to binge by the water. The vividness of summer is so evident in this book, even though most of it is set inside at the Hotel Nantucket. The characters were all ones that I was rooting for, and the "found family" aspect was really heartwarming. I particularly liked the characters of Wanda, Kimber, Lizbet, and Mario. Oh and I can't forget Grace! If you are turned off by the fact that there is the perspective of a ghost in this book, don't be. Grace's chapters were the most fun to read from because she is genuinely invested in the employees and guests of the hotel's lives. One of the best parts of this book was the description of food. Every single thing sounded delicious, and it had me craving a lobster roll the entire time I was reading!

My only complaint is how sporadic the switching of POVs was. I prefer when each chapter is told from a different perspective, but I don't think the reading experience would have been the same if that was the case. I highly recommend this for your next summer read!

A quick trip to Nantucket is always a pleasure with Elin Hilderbrand. This was one doesn’t necessarily hit all the right notes, too many characters and incomplete storylines but the Nantucket guide book at the end is awesome.

There is nothing I love more than a summer weekend spent in Nantucket, catching up with old friends and hearing about their dinners and the beach happenings. I've never been to Nantucket, but that's what reading Elin HIldebrand is like, especially this latest, Hotel Nantucket. Glimpses from old friends, hearing about the wonderful meals at some of the best restaurants and of course the happenings at The Chicken Box. Hotel Nantucket did not disappoint.

An old hotel has been bought by a rich investor and locals have been hired to bring the hotel back to its former glory. Except for the fact that is haunted. I loved the staff from Lizbet to Sweet Edie and Alessandra and Chad, I found myself loving the characters and rooting for them as we got to know them and their secrets. When I saw that Grace was a character, I initially rolled my eyes and was like this is a beach read, not fantasy, but Elin did it so well that I enjoyed her as much as everyone else. It was the perfect touch. This is still very much a perfect Beach read, with some drama, and some romance. The perfect book.

5 Stars. Stay well, friends. And do good.

I look forward to my annual Hilderbrand beach/pool read. Some I have loved, some were not great, and some just okay. This was between "love" and "just okay." It was fine, and I liked the characters and the story, but it didn't make me cry in my beach chair as some of her others have, so it's just 4 stars for me.
