The queen of beach reads has done it once again! 5 beach umbrellas goes to this soon-to-be hit.
Based around the newly rehabbed Hotel Nantucket, Elin’s lasted book brings a cast you’ll instantly fell in love with. From checkered pasts, secret motives, clandestine love, and a friendly ghost, this story draws you in and keeps you obsessed until the end.
As a fan of Elin’s previous books, I also particularly loved the little easter eggs she peppered throughout, making you feel like you’re really part of the town.
As an added bonus the book includes Elin’s version of Lizbet’s “The Blue Book”, including personal recommendations to Nantucket’s best restaurants, lodging, shopping, beaches and more.
Thank you Net Galley and Little Brown for the advanced review copy in exchange for a honest review of this book. This review will be posted to Goodreads (now) and slightly before or after the publication date: Amazon and Instagram/FB post.
Another well written Hilderbrand novel. I love that she incorporates her beloved Nantucket into the stories and truly helps you escape into the novel. The characters are both relatable and mysterious with all their secrets. As the novel unfolds, secrets are revealed and the characters become better understood. My favorite character is sweet Wanda. I love her love for Nancy Drew mysteries (books I also grew up reading). I also love Grace Hadley, the hotel ghost, who playfully haunts while also taking care of the hotel’s residents.
Elin Hilderbrand has given us an assortment of delightful characters in The Hotel Nantucket. The story behind each one unfolds into a great summer book.
Another solid, classic Elin Hilderbrand read! I loved everything about the hotel in the book, and the way Elin described it made me feel like I was there. I could taste the almond croissants and feel the hydrangea-blue throws. This book felt like a vacation. And I absolutely loved all of the throwback references to The Blue Bistro, one of my favs. I also love that she mentions real restaurants and spots on the island and included her Blue Book of Nantucket recommendations at the end. I will definitely hang onto this for a future trip! I wasn’t crazy about the ghost storyline, it worked, but I think it would’ve worked without it as well. I also don’t love how she very obviously tries to incorporate young slang from her kids to sound hip. A lot of it is stuff I don’t think most of her readers would actually understand and it sounds a little cringe. But I love Elin and her books and am a forever fan. This is another great one that readers will love.
Surprisingly, this was my first story by the highly regarded Elin Hildebrand, though I have several of her previous novels on my lengthy TBR list. The Hotel Nantucket is an intriguing tale is told from the perspectives of many different staff members of the Hotel Nantucket, which is re-opening after being closed for years. Almost all of the characters have secrets that come to light slowly as the story progresses. Though I have never visited Nantucket, this story definitely paints a charming picture of the island community. I think this would be delightful to read on the beach.
I just love Summer, Ghosts and Elin Hilderbrand! I have read every book she has written. The Hotel Nantucket includes a great love and ghost story! The Hotel Nantucket is now one of my favorite books that Elin has written! I am so excited to recommend this book to everyone I can! #TheHotelNantucket

Another perfect beach read by Elin Hilderbrand. ‘The Hotel Nantucket’, makes you feel like you are lucky enough to be spending the summer in Nantucket. Ms. Hilderbrand version of The Blue book, outlying places to stays, places to eat and things to do from the perspective of a Nantucket native is a perfect addition to this easy to read and enjoyable book. Kudos to Elin Hilderbrand!
It is not summer without a new Elin Hilderbrand novel and her new installment: Hotel Nantucket does not disappoint. Eccentric millionaire, Xavier Darling purchases the dilapidated and long vacant Hotel Nantucket sight unseen with the vision of creating a property decadent enough to received a exclusive five keys review from hotel reviewer, Shelly Carpenter. He hires the untested Lizbeth Keaton who is trying to recover for a recent failed long-term relationship. The rest of the hotel’s cast of characters include front desk staff Edie, Alessandra, and Richie; bellhops, Raoul, Adam and Zeke; the hotel’s Blue Bar’s celebrity chef and potential love interest, Mario; and cleaning supervisor Magda English and her unexpected rich boy turned repentant cleaner, Chad. As the story progresses you learn many of the characters are not as they seem and others have secret stories that they are trying to keep hidden.
The Hotel Nantucket is also haunted by the ghost of Grace Hadley, a maid who died in a fire many decades ago and has secrets of her own that she wants known before she can past to the other side. The story is told in alternating chapters from the various staff as well as some of the hotels guests over the course of one summer on Nantucket. I would give this novel five stars for its rich characters, interweaving story lines and descriptions of all things Nantucket.
The book includes The Blue Book includes Elin’s own recommendation guide to Nantucket’s restaurants, lodging, shopping, beaches and more.

I am an Elin Hilderbrand super-fan, and 28 Summers was one of my top fave reads last year. Being approved for the ARC was beyond exciting, and I am so thankful. However, this isn’t my favorite Elin Hilderbrand novel. IMO, there are too many characters and storylines, and the whole just didn’t pull me in. Sorry, Elin! Do give it a shot if you’re an Elin fan because her books are amazing, but this wouldn’t be a top pick for me if you’re starting out!
I received an advance copy of this book from Netgalley What can I say another best seller by the author. Fun summer beach read about a hotel in Nantucket. Characters were well developed and likeable. The book begins with the rise of the hotel and each character having a secret to reveal and the hotel trying for key 5 review. The book left you wanting a sequel at the end an epilogue was the only thing missing
What a fun book! Elin's premise of a ghost haunting an old Nantucket hotel is a fresh twist on her books set on on the idyllic island. As usual Elin makes you feel like you are on Nantucket and devotes an entire chapter at the end of the book to sharing her favorite restaurants, shops and beaches with the reader.
The Hotel Nantucket, which closed in 1922 after a fire. Newly reopened and revamped, Lizbet Keaton is now the general manager, having been hired on by a London billionaire to run the place. First on her list after renovations, is hiring a full staff to help run the hotel and help her win the best review possible from a hotel blogger (known as the 5 Keys). Throughout the summer we meet the guests and staff at the hotel, and are kept guessing as to whether the hotel would be awarded the coveted 5 keys. Heck, of course we know it will, but the identity of the blogger was a surprise to me. Highly recommended for all public libraries.
Oh my goodness- I enjoyed this book so much!! The characters were well developed and the story flowed well. Cannot wait to recommend to friends and book groups on Goodreads, Amazon, and Facebook.
Thank you to #Netgalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.
Elin Hilderbrand immediately transports you to summertime!! I really enjoyed this one. I loved the hotel setting and the variety of characters.
A few of the characters were presented as unlikable in the beginning and despite their redemption story lines, I didn’t love them in the end.
Overall, I still really enjoyed the book and am dreaming of Nantucket!!
Well, Elin Hilderbrand did it again. My favorite part about her books would be the differences in the plots and settings of her novels. This one surrounds a fictitious version of a hotel located on Nantucket. I don’t want to give anything away, but there’s drama, suspense, and a little bit of romance booming around the Hotel Nantucket. It’s another winner in my opinion!
I loved reading this book! The beautiful hotel, the service, the characters (even the flawed ones), grew on me and I didn’t want the book to end.
I liked the ghost tie in with the fire from 1922. That sounds like a book of its own that I would like to read.
Thank you for my advanced copy of this book!
The Hotel Nantucket is Elin Hildebrand at her best! This book makes you want to hop on the ferry to Nantucket and spend your summer there!
The book tells the story of the first year the hotel is in business following its reopening, but it is so much more than that! It is a separate story of so many wonderful characters, many of them employees at the inn, each of them facing difficult issues in their personal lives. It is the tale of broken hearts, relationships broken and mended, and the new relationships built during the course of a summer. Plus thrown into the mix is the haunting of the inn. This is a beach read at its best!
Thank you, NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company, for the digital ARC in exchange for my honest reviews. All thoughts and opinions stated above are my own.
It’s going to be a great summer read!! Loved all the stories and characters. Enjoy a beach chair, the sound of the ocean and this book!
Book Review The Hotel Nantucket - Elin Hilderbrand 4/5
Genre: Adult Fiction (could be considered Chick Lit?)
Publication Date: 6/14/22
Read If You Liked:
- Finlay Donovan Knocks ‘Em Dead by Elle Cosimano (due to the humor and mystery elements - setting is much more summery here!)
The Hotel Nantucket follows the transformation and debut of an upscale hotel in the extremely small community of Nantucket. The story is centered around its staff and their shenanigans, and has a ghost to boot!
Thoughts:
- I love that this debuts right in time for summer - it will certainly put you in the mood for a vacation at an upscale hotel and make you wonder what the staff is up to!
- We have multiple narrators, and the story moves very quickly, with bits and pieces coming together toward the end to tie up things quite nicely with all of the storylines.
- Hilderbrand gives us characters that experience romance, coming of age, redemption arcs, and soul searching.
- I was pleasantly surprised by the humor in this, especially with the viewpoint of Grace (the resident ghost).
- Hilderbrand includes her “Blue Book” at the end of the novel, which is such an ingenious idea and a very nice touch.
- There are a lot of storylines in this book, and while it can be a little hard to keep straight at times, it worked just fine for me here.
- I do wish we had a bit more depth to some of the stories (I want to know what Kimber is doing now! What happens to Richie? What about Wanda and her new writing career? Is Chad still a “Chad”?), but I think that’s part of the draw of this - that you want more of these great characters.
Thank you to @Netgalley and Little, Brown and Company for this Advance Copy in exchange for my honest review!
This book is fantastic & will get you ready for summer. Elin Hilderbrand delivers another wonderful novel full of interesting characters & great storylines. I enjoyed getting into everyone's stories & how Grace (the ghost) helped along the way. Highly recommend reading this book!
Thanks to NetGalley & the publisher for advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.
I have always enjoyed Elin Hilderbrand as an author and some of her stand alone books can be a hit or miss. This is a definite hit! I loved her last summer book, The Golden Girl and this one does not disappoint. Not to be cliche or cheesy but this is definitely the must read summer book for the summer. The characters are complex but likeable and it is believable story from start to finish.
Recommended read for any fan of Elin Hilderbrand. Thanks to Netgalley, Elin HIlderbrand and Little, Brown and Company for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
