Let the summer begin! There's a new Elin Hilderbrand book coming out soon.
Set on Nantucket with the old Hotel Nantucket now under new ownership and being fully done over.
Lizbet is ready for a new start after her recent breakup with longtime boyfriend JJ.
When she lands the hotel manager job she is on her way to that new start.
A rather eclectic set of characters, along with a ghost and an unsolved murder; the stage is set for an interesting summer to say the least.
Wonderful beach read. Not too heavy or deep: just a relaxing read. Plenty of people to root for.
Thanks to netgalley and Little, Brown and Company for the advance copy to review.
A few familiar Nantucket notables and a few new and intriguing personalities- including one of the supernatural world- mingle in a summer season at the recently renovated Hotel Nantucket. Elin Hilderbrand’s fans will ease right into the bustling routine of summer in Nantucket in this novel. I flew through The Hotel Nantucket in a day or two, and liked it more than the author’s last few titles! The holds for this one are already filling up at my local public library, and this beach read won’t disappoint. I read an advance digital copy of this title.
What a treat! You know it’s summer when there is a new Elin Hilderbrand book out.
There are so many characters to get to know and fall in love with. There is a supernatural ghost character that was a fun addition.
I have read 95% of Hilderbrand's books and this is her quintessential style for sure. As always, I loved the setting of Nantucket and there is a wide cast of characters we follow throughout the novel. I enjoyed following the entire journey of the hotel and it's staff throughout the summer, to see how it all turned out. And of course the food descriptions were amazing. Definitely a good book to read on the beach.
My one squabble: for the second year in a row Hilderbrand's summer novel featured a main character that was a ghost. It was just strange and weird for sure, never really enjoyed that part.
Absolutely loved this new release by Elin Hilderbrand. This book reads like a love letter to Nantucket, the setting of so many of her novels. It was light, fun and a really easy read.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for providing an e-ARC of this title.
I’ve been meaning to pick up a novel by this author for a long time, and I knew this would be my first as soon as the synopsis mentioned that the ghost of a chambermaid was haunting the hotel. The premise and setup of this story had me hooked, but it unfortunately fell a bit short from there.
The biggest issue that took me out of the story was its tendency to tell the reader everything that was happening rather than letting scenes unfold organically. The narration felt far removed from the characters, and I felt like it was often trying to play catch up rather than telling the story in a chronological way.
Additionally, while the cast of characters was interesting, there were so many that no story line felt deeply developed. They stayed at the surface level, and some were never really resolved. Adam and Raoul never got their time to shine, and what happens after Ritchie was arrested? Especially with his relationship with Kimber??
Even still, this book was fun enough that I wanted to keep reading. Lizbet and Mario’s story was also sweet, even if it didn’t get the screen time that it deserved. I’d be interested to read another one of this author’s novels, especially one that includes more of Nantucket Island.
I honestly don't know what we are all going to do when summer doesn't begin with an Elin Hilderbrand novel (the author has said she will only be writing them for a couple more years)! Most of her novels take place on Nantucket, and although I've been to the Cape and Martha's Vineyard, I've yet to make it to this island off the coast of MA. I don't know of any author who can create the sense of place better than Elin. From the beaches, to the food, to the shopping, and this time to a hotel. We follow a cast of characters who have all been hired to run the newly refurbished Hotel Nantucket. The new billionaire owner wants to receive a highly sought after 5 keys from a hotel reviewer, which leaves the staff with impossibly high standards to maintain (and put up with a lot of rude behavior from some guests, as you can imagine). We follow these characters, who all have their own backstories and secrets, as they aim to give the perfect hotel stay experience. One of the characters we also follow is the ghost of Grace, a woman intent on "haunting" the hotel until someone discovers the true story surrounding her death in 1922. While I understood that Grace was a perfect method for the reader to spy on some of the secretive behavior we might not have otherwise been privy to, I'm still not a fan of ghosts in my novels. Despite that small quibble, this was a highly entertaining and engaging read. I was rooting for all of these characters (even the ones who were a bit unlikable) and couldn't wait to see if they would get their 5 key review. I absolutely loved that at the end of the book the author wrote her own blue book (given to all the hotel guests to help them plan their stay on the island) which includes references to Nantucket places (and where some of her previous books took place). I'll definitely be keeping this guide in case I ever make it to Nantucket.
Another perfect summer read, with memorable characters, food, and places. While I could have done without the ghost, it honestly was a small dip in my enjoyment of this story. Definitely a book to tuck in your beach or travel bag.
Nothing says summer like a trip to Nantucket with Elin Hilderbrand, and this just might be my favorite one so far. I loved the premise and all of the characters and the descriptions made me feel like I was staying at the upscale Hotel Nantucket too.
It was a perfect, fun summer read that kept me turning the pages. Pick this one up on your way to the beach!
Thank you netgalley for the ARC in exchange for a Fair and Honest Review.
What can I say? It's Elin Hilderbrand - the Queen of the Nantucket beach read. I have been an avid reader and fan of her work, since I first picked up The Perfect Couple. Elin has taken me to places on Nantucket that I swear if I went there I would know where everything is.
Like her other books, this is set on Nantucket in the summer. The book had the same formula as the others, it's light, engaging, funny, sometimes sad. I did have a bit of a hard time getting in to this book. It took me about half way through before I think the book hit its stride. From that point on, I couldn't put the book down.
I have read a lot of Elin's books in a day - they have been that good and engaging. This one I struggled a bit, but again, once I hit the halfway mark, it all flowed and I didn't want to put it down.
Definitely grab the book for your summer read! you won't be disappointed.
I loved this book! It was cute, funny and kept me on the edge of my seat. I fell in love with the characters.
No old hotel is complete without a hotel ghost. Grace Hadley does a great job of using her ghost powers to protect the guests and staff that she has grown to love.
The odd staff members that were thrown together all came from different and unknown situations. They work together to become a family and save the future of the hotel.
It was a good wholesome story.
Another great Elin Hildebrand story
Full disclosure - I am a HUGE Elan Hilderbrand fan. I own all her books, both ebooks and hard copy, and look forward each year to spending a blissful few summer days on my deck, soaking up sun, oblivious to my real life. This year, however, I was lucky enough to get an ARC, which arrived in my queue in early May. It threw off my whole summer reading schedule! So, bc I don't read a new Hilderbrand book before school is out - I need mental space to absorb it all! - I'm doling each chapter out slooowwwlly.
All that to say - I haven't finished yet! But I am LOVING it so far. My fave Elin books are The Beach - which I read each summer - and The Blue Bistro. The Hotel Nantucket definitely takes elements from the Blue Bistro (including a handsome chef and service-industry break-up) as well as a feisty ghost and the hunt for an elusive top-notch review for the fledgling business. The author's descriptions are top-notch (for those of us who eat up all the high-end details of lifestyles of the 1%) and there's enough mystery surrounding certain characters in the hotel to keep me reading. It has been hard not to zoom through it but the book releases soon, and I wanted to let Elin's fans to know - THE BOOK IS WORTH THE PURCHASE.
I will post again when I have finished in the next week or so. Many thanks to Netgalley and Little,Brown for allowing this die-hard fan to get her mitts on an ARC!!
I was swept away to a brand new posh hotel on Nantucket. It had an enviable restaurant with the most delectable food (whipped cream concierge, anyone?), a famous chef, lovely locals, a great group of hotel employees, some interesting guests, and a resident ghost. Who doesn’t love a hotel with a ghost? Jealous? Don’t be! You can have the same vacation starting June 14th when Elin Hilderbrand’s dazzling novel, The Hotel Nantucket, comes out!
This book is like a vacation getaway even if it’s just getting away from everyday life. While multiple story lines and characters can be confusing, this book was never difficult to follow. Each character and storyline are so well developed and written.
As always, Hilderbrand sets scenes in her favorite Nantucket locales. If you’ve been to Nantucket, you’re familiar with them. If not, no worries! She includes an added bonus: the Blue Book. A guide to Nantucket that this fictional hotel gives to its guests, is also part of the book. It’s the perfect guide for anyone planning a trip to Nantucket or interested in the places mentioned.
In true EH style, characters from her previous novels make appearances in this book. If this is your first Hilderbrand book I promise you will not be lost although you will definitely want to buy more books to learn more about those characters. (Ahem, The Blue Bistro!).
Whether you love Nantucket, are planning a trip to Nantucket, can’t get away to Nantucket, or need a great beach read, this book has you covered!
Finally if you’re wondering why I used keys instead of stars for this review, you’re going to have to read The Hotel Nantucket to find out. They’re definitely key to the storyline! 😉
Thanks to @elinhilderbrand, @NetGalley, and @LittleBrown for the e-galley in exchange for my honest review.
Release date: June 14, 2023
Elin Hilderbrand knocks it out of the park with yet another great summer beach read! This novel is a fun and entertaining story that will keep you turning the pages. It's full of an ensemble of colorful characters that you will love. These characters experience love, growth, redemption and happy endings. Elin's writing is top notch (obviously) as she paints a vivid and picture perfect setting and story. I love Elin's summer beach reads and this one is definitely my favorite. It furthers fuels my desire to travel to Nantucket. It's a 4.5 star read you are going to want to get your hands on this summer!
This book will be released on June 14th.
Thank you Elin Hilderbrand, Little Brown Books and Netgalley for my ARC copy.
This review is posted on Goodreads and will be on my Bookstagram page (@georgiasbooklife) next week.
I’m normally a fan of Elin’s books, but this one is one of my favorites, especially from recent memory. It’s been a tough week in the world and I appreciate the light hearted sumner read that allowed me to escape for a few hours the last two days. .
Here we have another brilliant read by Elin Hilderbrand! I always look forward to reading her books and haven't found one yet that has disappointed! She's my go-to for beach reads and I know many readers will feel the same! The Hotel Nantucket is an absolute must read!
Oh this was a summer bummer.
I live for Elin release time every year, but her last two have really let me down. They both feel almost haphazard, thrown together or hastily written without much editing.
This had so many things going on. We had exes, love stories, billionaires, social media mystery guests and ghosts? Yeah. Too much.
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for this advance copy in exchange for my honest review. I miss the older Elin books that felt so meticulously detailed and written with care. Anymore I find that her books feel a little phoned-in.
Take a mini-vacation with Elin Hilderbrand’s The Hotel Nantucket! Immersing myself in this novel felt like I was in Nantucket, traipsing the cobblestone streets and going to Miacomet. If only! I barely even remember what a vacation feels like at this point!
The new novel by Elin Hilderbrand centers around The Hotel Nantucket, which closed in 1922 after a fire. Newly reopened and revamped, Lizbet Keaton is now the general manager, having been hired on by a London billionaire to run the place. First on her list after renovations, is hiring a full staff to help run the hotel and help her win the best review possible from a hotel blogger (known as the 5 Keys). My favorite staff member here was Chad, whose personality and story won me over tenfold.
A fun, winsome novel that kept me fully engaged throughout. Somehow Elin Hilderbrand always knows how to lighten the mood!
Thank you to Little Brown and Company for the arc via NetGalley.

Classic Elin Hilderbrand. The Hotel Nantucket was a joyful read. I really enjoyed the addition of her (Lizbet's) Blue Book. What a clever way to give thanks to Nantucket, who is surely the most famous of all Elin Hilderbrand's characters. :)
Elin did it again, and per usual, I couldn’t put this one down (except to google flights to Nantucket). I don’t know what’s caused her recent shift to include ghosts in her stories, so if that’s not your thing you may not love this one, but I found the ghost sort of acted as an omniscient narrator. The characters popped off the page and stuck with me long after I put this one down. Bravo!
First of all, I love everything Elin writes. So there's that. And I truly think she is getting better and better. I cried at the end of 28 Summers. I was right there with Vivian Howe was watching her children and giving nudges. And with THE NANTUCKET HOTEL - I checked in and am ready to stay for the summer!
I wasn't sure what to think about Grace at first - I am not really a fantasy reader. But Grace Hadley was the true "spirit" of the Nantucket Hotel - and was the perfect character to tell the story of Lizbet, Mario, JJ, Shelly Carpenter, Chad, Allessandra, Kimber, Edie and all the others. Yes, there are a lot of characters but just like when you take a summer home or stay at a resort - the people around you become your story. They are your summer friends. Some you may never see again and some that will become part of your life. (I still remember Rudy Prickett from a SD cave tour in the 80's!). Anyway, if you are fascinated with Nantucket like I am, you will definitely enjoy your stay at The Nantucket Hotel. There is a little mystery, some romance, some blackmail, a little haunting, and as always great description of all the food, restaurants, and places to go in Nantucket. Speaking of that - Elin includes THE BLUE BOOk at the end of the book. People keep asking her for recommendations of the must-do's when in Nantucket - so just like the copy that is available in every room of the Nantucket Hotel, there is a copy for you! Enjoy!
Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to read this fabulous book!
