I enjoy Erin's storytelling skills! It was a definite page turner, I was invested in every character in this book, but the main character was Lizbeth. The ending was shocking, it was like "how did I not see that". Heartwarming book that intertwined the past and the future so perfectly!
Months ago, one of my very best friends suggested that I read 𝘛𝘏𝘌 𝘉𝘓𝘜𝘌 𝘉𝘐𝘚𝘛𝘙𝘖 by ELIN Hilderbrand. I didn’t get around to it but, when Netgalley offered to provide an ARC of Hilderbrand’s new novel, I jumped at the chance.
I’m so sorry to say (Paige, please forgive me) that I could not finish this book. I really tried! I took it with me on our trip to Mexico, thinking it would be the perfect beach read. What I got instead was one long, pedantic, run-on sentence. The narrative was replete with extraneous details and trendy, current phrases & references. Reading it was like sitting next to someone at a dinner party who continuously name drops yet never actually says anything substantive at all.
I have picked up and put down this book so many times, trying to immerse myself in the story, but can never seem to do it. Is there a story? Honestly, I’m not so sure.

Me too, Grace, me too.
Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this novel. Nothing makes you feel like summer more than reading Elin Hilderbrand's new novel. Her characters captivate you from the first chapter. This book has the perfect recipe of romance and suspense. The only thing predictable is that you will LOVE it and be counting down the days until HIlderbrand's next novel!
The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand will make a great summer read for her fans...and for some new readers. I have read most of her novels and while I've enjoyed them all, this one fell a little flat for me. There were a lot of characters to keep straight, some likeable and some not and the ghost haunting the hotel just felt like it had been done too many times before, there wasn't anything fresh about it. I just felt that I had read a similar novel previously. That being said, I will still pick up any Hilderbrand novel that she writes because I do love her style and it doesn't feel like summer if I don't read one!
Thanks to the author,Little, Brown and Company and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.
Another winner from Elin Hildebrand! I was skeptical at first when I learned one of the main characters is a ghost. However, Grace fits seamlessly into the fabric of the Hotel Nantucket that I could not imagine this story told without her. So many new characters, and some guest appearances from previous books too, This is the book everyone will be taking to the beach this summer!
This was a light fun read. Perfect for a summer beach book. I loved the multiple points of view of the hotel staff and surrounding players. I was a little skeptical when one turned out to be the ghost, but it was actually a really fun way to show the reader private moments from the outside. This was my first Elin Hilderbrand novel, but it won’t be my last.
Overall, an enjoyable beach read. The cast of characters was a little too large, so I don’t feel like I was truly invested in any storyline.
I enjoyed reading Elin Hilderbrand's new book about Nantucket. It even had a lovely ghost as a feature of the newly refurbished ancient hotel. A mysterious buyer hires Lizbeth Keaton to get the hotel ready in short order and he wants it to look and act like the best hotel in the world.
The new owner wants to capture a "five Keys' rating by a mysterious hotel critic who has never given any hotel five keys. Lizbeth does everything asked of her, and I learn all about what makes a hotel great. I agree that a free minibar is a luxury at the top of the line.
I enjoyed reading about the loves and ex-loves of all the inhabitants, local and visiting, in this information-loaded book. I'd love to have a weekend at the glorious Hotel Nantucket!
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for this e-ARC.
This was another great by author Elin Hildebrand that makes me feel nostalgic and a sense of yearning for the wonderfully magical place that is Nantucket. The Hotel Nantucket was a slight departure from the normal beach fare with a paranormal undertone that contributed an interesting and unique perspective to the storyline of the living. In true Hildebrand fashion, the character development was fantastic and the plot of a new hotel with some familiar names peppered in made for an enjoyable read. The ending did, however, leave me wanting more, which, I guess if there should be a sequel is a good thing. All in all - I would definitely recommend this book to anyone that is looking for a quick escape as it would make a great beach read - on or off Nantucket.
I was so excited to receive the NetGalley ebook ARC for Elin Hilderbrand’s new book Hotel Nantucket! It was a very entertaining, enjoyable book all set in a newly renovated luxury hotel in Nantucket. It was primarily a story about the staff and some guests, with a surprise visitor from the past!
What I liked:
•Like all of this author’s books I’ve read, each main character had a unique interesting backstory that unfolds throughout the book. I especially enjoyed Grace, Magda & Chad. The children visitors were such fun too!
•a little romance is part of the book but not the main plot
•twists! Fun unexpected surprises along the way
•dreamy summer getaway imagery ~ including food, drink, local home descriptions
What I didn’t like
•there were so many characters introduced in the first couple of chapters I actually had to take notes! I recognized names from other books, but it’s hard to know what’s just name dropping for fun, and who will become major players later. This seems to be common in her books and I’m learning to get used to it ~ because otherwise I really love her style of writing!
I have more EH books on my to read list and I can’t wait!

This is a great vacation read with solid characters, a fabulous backdrop and multiple storylines all tied up with a bow at the end. It is written in present tense, which I see so rarely that it took me a couple of chapters to get used to.
The central character is supposed to be Lizbeth Keaton, who is hired on as GM after a bad breakup. However, I never really connected with her. I preferred instead the great ensemble cast of characters coming together to redeem this broken hotel and, in many ways, themselves.
I still don’t know how I feel about the ghost. She operates as a narrator of sorts popping in and out of everyone else’s storylines at will. I like that idea, but I’m not sure it added to the story.
Thank you to Netgalley and Elin Hilderbrand for the ARC in exchange for my honest review.

The Hotel Nantucket will transport you right to the island itself. With all of Elin Hildebrand’s thorough descriptions of the sights, sounds, fun events and people who populate her home island. She is the best at describing the island (I’ve been there only once – and she makes me long to return) and all of the local attractions – restaurants, shops, museums, cobblestone streets, beaches and little hideaways, as well as its peacefulness and the warmth of its residents. Although they are characters in a book, you feel you know them after you’ve read one of her books set on Nantucket.
The story begins with the Hotel – a character in and of itself in the novel. What was once a splendid outpost for wealthy vacationers, the hotel fell into ultimate disrepair and abandonment. A tragic fire in 1922 that resulted in the death of a young chambermaid named Grace Hadley was the lynchpin for its eventual demise. Until in present day, a London-based financier, Xavier Darling, purchases the hotel and spends a fortune renovating it into newfound and spectacular glory. He hires one of our main characters in the book -- Lizbet Keaton as his general manager.
Lizbet, a local woman – a Nantucket lifer, needs something new to build her confidence and distract her as she recovers from a traumatic relationship breakup with her restaurant partner. With all the twists and turns with the newly hired employees at the hotel, from personality quirks to illicit relationships to theft, Lizbet has her hands full. And that doesn’t even include the little side shenanigans going on with the guests as well as the ghost of Grace Hadley – who is a wonderful character with a sweet sense of humor. Her story comes out in the book and is charming and tragic all at the same time.
The entire hotel staff is on high alert because Xavier’s goal is to get the first 5 star rating from an elusive hotel rater and blogger – with a hidden identity. No one knows who the person is or what they look like – so everyone who comes to the hotel represents a possible opportunity. Lizbet is determined to see the 5 stars happen and has everyone trained to take care of the most minute details possible in terms of customer service and room cleanliness.
Very enjoyable, charming and fun. While I thought Elin’s list of hot spots on Nantucket – aka Lizbet’s special recommendations book – was fun, I think she could have left that out or posted a link to it on her website for those interested on a page at the back of the book.
This story centers around an accidental death where the deceased is now a ghost and a main character in the story. Sound familiar? Well, it should because ‘Golden Girl’ had that same storyline. Right from the beginning, there’s a lot of name dropping, book titles, authors, song titles, and their artists. It makes me wonder if the author is getting paid by the word. The next thing that I noticed was the anonymous person whose hotel reviews were paramount to this story which made me think of Mrs. Whistledown in ‘Bridgerton’ as they tried to figure out who Shelley Schwartz, the hotel reviewer, is. I also am aware of something that I guess the author is not, people from San Francisco would NEVER refer to their city as ‘San Fran’. I would definitely make that correction before publication as well as explain to the narrator the correct pronunciation of ‘BuckNELL’, it’s not ‘BUCKnul’. OK, with those things out of the way, the hotel staff characters were, for the most part, likeable people and the reader does get involved with their lives. Jun 2022 Pub date
I received an ARC of this book to read and review for the publisher.
I have read every single one of Elin’s books and this is by far my favorite! I finished it a couple of weeks ago and still find myself thinking about it often.
If you are in need of a beach read/mystery/suspense/romance/historical fiction novel, this is for you! The wide scope of characters pull you in right from the beginning. They range from heartbroken to manipulative to young and driven and even ghostly!
Heartbroken Lizbet is given the huge task to revamp an old (some say haunted) Nantucket hotel. She uses this opportunity (along with her trusty Peloton) to heal and prove to herself, and everyone else, that she is more than capable of being an independent woman. Lizbet hires on a truly unique cast of characters to run the hotel right along side her. Throughout their summer together they become more like a family (mostly). Will it be good enough to keep the hotel, and it’s staff, around for another summer?
Elin Hilderbrand’s books are peak comfort reading for me, I immediately request her books without even reading the description, because I know I’ll enjoy them no matter what. The Hotel Nantucket is no exception. It was reminiscent of The Blue Bistro, and even brings back a couple of characters from that novel. I loved all of the characters in this book, and I am dying to go to Nantucket, while wishing I could stay at this hotel.
While I did love this book, I feel like it could have done without the “hook” of the ghost. The story works on its’ own without the need for the ghost story/character tying it together. I really don’t think it would be missed at all if not part of the novel.
This is an excellent summer read, and the addition of the blue book at the end is such a nice touch!
I am an Elin groupie! I love her books and especially love to listen to them on audio. The Hotel Nantucket doesn't disappoint! It continues with the winning combination of a setting, cast, and plot that is extremely entertaining! If you too are an Elin groupie you will shriek when this book mentions Winter Street, the Blue Bistro and other beloved settings and characters from these books. All I can say is another home run from Elin! I loved this book as much as her others! Thanks to netgalley and the publisher for an advanced copy of the audio book.
This featured all of Elin's signature wit and charm, as well as a heavy dose of drama and scandal. As with her other novels, The Hotel Nantucket was a love letter to her town of Nantucket. Even more so, I think, because she included her own "Blue Book" of recommendations of all types at the end of the story. The story does feature a little does of supernatural with a ghost who resides in the hotel having a part in the story, but it was written well and seemed to work in the storyline. This is a touching story and I had a hard time putting it down. Well done, Elin. Each time I read one of your books, my urge to visit and see Nantucket is even stronger.
I love Elin Hilderbrand books and this one was one of my favorites of hers! This is the story of a run-down hotel in Nantucket that a wealthy investor purchases even though he's never been to Nantucket before. Under the direction of hotel manager, Lizbet, the staff restores the hotel to its former glory. To me, the book read almost like a gossip magazine where we knew the goings-on and thoughts of most of the hotel staff. I loved how fast-paced the book was, but as I was learning about all of the characters, I didn't want the story to end! I felt like I was part of the hotel staff family. To top it all off, there's a supernatural aspect of the book with a ghost named Grace who died in the hotel back in the early 1900's. 5-stars for The Hotel Nantucket!

I am ready to book a vacation to Nantucket now! There are multiple povs, small town characters, a billionaire and a ghost.
We follow along Lizbet while she pulls together her staff at the newly renovated Hotel Nantucket. Lizbet is a great main character who is going through some tough times but uses those to show her strengths, and you can’t help but root for her!
There are several other characters who all have some sort of secret they aren’t sharing. We also have Grace the chambermaid who was killed in the hotel fire back in 1922 and waiting for redemption.
Overall this was a great read, that made me feel like I was transported to Nantucket! I enjoyed all the characters and their stories. This will be the perfect beach read this summer! The author has also added in a list of places to see, eat, things to do and places to stay on Nantucket at the end of the book!
Thanks to Netgalley, Elin Hilderbrand and Little, Brown and Company for the ebook advanced reader copy in exchange for an honest review.
I appreciate the opportunity to pre read The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand. It took me a bit longer to get into it, and I didn't enjoy it as much as some of her previous books (The Golden Girl) but I finished it. It had a variety of characters and storylines, possibly a few too many.
