I am such a fan of Elin Hilderbrand. I will read anything she writes without reading the description! This is a great summer read! I could have done without the ghost chapters but other than that it was a great story. It was written beautifully.
Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest opinion.
Loved it! Elin Hilderbrans is a true queen and never disappoint!
Tiny details were absolutely meticulous and precise, you taste and feel everything she describes.
As a hospitality professional I could relate to so many things - fake importance of reviews, unhappy snappy people, guests who become almost your family.
Absolutely loved Nancy Drew references as someone whose childhood "beach read" were these novels it was lovely to be reminded of that.
She has done it again. Such a great beach read with so much information about the island that she loves. A great story with characters from
Her other books including my favorite book of hers, The Blue Bistro. I got this book as an early reading book from #NetGalley. I’m going to go back and re-read the Blue bistro now.
Does anyone else experience real life panic attacks when they think about Elin Hilderbrand retiring in 2024? Yeah, me too. I was so thrilled to get this advanced copy of The Hotel Nantucket because I don’t always get these highly sought after Hilderbrand books. It was amazing. The Hotel Nantucket gives nods to two of my favorites, The Beach Club and The Blue Bistro and has secured a place in my top 3 stand alones. (You can’t ask me to choose between Winter Street and Paradise)! Do not miss out on this one.
Similar to most Elin Hilderbrand novels, this is a great summer read. It takes place from about Memorial Day to Labor Day (summer holiday season) on Nantucket. A rundown hotel is bought by a wealthy billionaire and renovated to the nines. The hotel also had a fire take place 100 years ago in 1922 where a chambermaid was "accidently" killed, and her ghost still haunts the hotel (her POV is prevalent throughout the story).
As the new staff acclimates to the routine of the new hotel, they are also made aware of a blogger that will most likely review the hotel in secret, and the owner is expecting an unheard of "Five Keys" from her rating.
If you are used to Hilderbrand's style of writing, you will enjoy this book and find comfort in all the stories and secrets lurking among the cast of characters. A heartfelt summer read that should leave you smiling at the end.
What's not to like about Hilderbrand's latest novel? All the charm that you would expect from a favorite author. I wasn't sure how I felt about the ghost "Grace" and had to suspend my disbelief, but toward the end of the novel I felt a connection to her like the rest of the characters in the story. As a librarian, I can already see the holds list climbing once patrons get a hold of this summer treat. Another winner.
If you are looking for a great beach read then The Hotel Nantucket should be your first stop. Elin Hilderbrand once again has captured my heart with one of her books. The characters at the hotel are all so lovable and sometimes frustrating as they try to get the 5 Keys award. You get a first-hand glance into the running of a glorious hotel.
This is just a fun sometimes laugh out loud read. Give it a read! Thank you Netgallery for my ARC.
After decades of neglect, billionaire Xavier Darling has purchased the Hotel Nantucket with the the intent of earning the first ever Five Key hotel review from Shelly Carpenter, a renown social media influencer. He has a second rationale for the purchase and renovation of which no one is aware.
Local Lizbet Keaton is selected to be General Manager. Lizbet seeks to hire a top-notch staff committed to top-notch service for guests. This novel includes the lives of hotel staff and guests, as well as a ghost, Grace, who was killed in a hotel fire in 1922. All are intertwined seamlessly.
Elin Hilderbrand's adoration for Nantucket is abundantly clear at the end of this book where she had created her own 'Blue Book' as Lizbet did in the novel for the hotel guests. Hilderbrand shares useful information for those planning to visit Nantucket such as restaurants, stores, local attractions, travel to and from the island,
In 1922, The Hotel Nantucket was a glamorous island hotel until a fire destroyed part of the hotel and killed a 19-year old chambermaid. In the 100 years since the fire, the hotel has fallen into complete disrepair. The Hotel Nantucket has been a variety of things, mainly a nuisance for the residents of the island. Nantucket’s Lizbet Keaton (fresh from a devastating breakup and looking for a fresh start) has been tapped by billionaire owner Xavier Darling to manage and fix up the hotel to its once former glory. Lizbet and her team may be inexperienced, but they are determined to win the hearts (and reviews) of guests, despite the rumored ghost lurking around, and the skepticism of most Nantucket locals.
As with many Hilderbrand novels, The Hotel Nantucket features a wide cast of characters, each sorting through their own struggles to survive another summer and keep the hotel from an unfortunate early close. Readers familiar with Hilderbrand’s work will delight to hear references to many characters from past novels including The Beach Club, The Blue Bistro, and The Rumor. The story and tension were deep enough to illicit compassion, but also had plenty of lightness and humor (usually when told from Grace’s perspective).

The Hotel Nantucket is available on June 14, 2022. Thank you to Netgalley and Little Brown Books for the opportunity to read and review this book!
I feel like Elin Hilderbrand books keep getting better: Hilderbrand is like a fine wine! I really loved this book and I am attached to the characters. I hope they show up in a future work somehow! I also enjoyed the supernatural aspect of this book—- it was definitely a departure for Hilderbrand, but it worked!! I am excited for this book to be released (I will probably still buy it). Thank you to Little Brown and Company and netgalley for the ARC!
How have I not been reading Erin Hilderbrand before? Well four books by her in the last month is me on my way to remedying that problem. Really enjoyed this novel. I love hotels, and I've always fantasized it would be fun to run one. This book made me think maybe yes or maybe NO WAY to that idea. It was interesting to learn some about the business side of hotel work. The characters were well developed and quirky but not overdone. Some nice little surprises. Not sure about the ghost, but it led to some good plot, so I'll vote in favor.
Once again Elin Hillerbrand takes us on a wonderful vacation to Nantucket. The setting of the book is the Hotel Nantucket, a once luxury hotel that through time and mismanagement has fallen into ruin. But enter a billionaire who plans on restoring this hotel to its former glory. He hires Lizbet as the hotel manager who is determined to earn an unheard of five key review by summers end. We are introduced to a new cast of characters from employees, guests and a ghost of a young maid that was killed in a fire at the hotel. This book is fun escapism. I would love a follow up book so I can see what happens next summer at Hotel Nantucket. I just loved it
Elian Hilderbrand definitely has a formula, but it’s working for her and what amazes me is that her new books don’t feel repetitive with the older ones. I liked this one quite a bit despite one of the main characters being a ghost, which isn’t my thing at all. The characters compelled me and were very fully drawn. I appreciate that they all exist in shades of gray and nobody is entirely perfect or entirely villainous. Of course, the Nantucket setting is a character in and of itself and is richly drawn for both atmosphere and food. It’s a fluffy novel like all of hers and a bit too rich and white for my taste, but she does what she does very well, I flew through this one quickly, and of the maybe 7-10 Hilderbrand books I’ve read, it’s one of the better ones.
I don’t enjoy a quality read of anyones quite like I enjoy Elin Hilderbrand. Always an interesting story, characters from other books of hers are in an out, it’s feels like family! She has never disappointed.
I wanted to thank NetGalley for the ARC copy of The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand. I was very excited to read a book by Elin Hilderbrand because I have heard many good things about her books. Unfortunately, I was not a big fan of this book. I was intrigued by the book being set in Nantucket, but I thought the book was longer than it needed to be. I enjoyed learning about all the characters, life at the hotel, and the food, but I was not invested in the book. I guess this book just was not for me.
My thanks to both NetGalley and the publisher Little, Brown and Company for an advanced copy of this summer beach read.
Not many things can be counted on anymore, however if it is summer than there must be a new Elin Hilderbrand novel about Nantucket coming out. This year is no exception. The Hotel Nantucket tells of the people and lives effected by a gilded age resort that nearly burned to the ground a hundred years and the ghosts that haunt people and that physically haunt the place.
One hundred years ago The Hotel Nantucket was the in place to see and be seen, a Jazz Age resort for pampering and the pampered. Until a fire kills a young maid and the destroyed its reputation, making it a place that AAA probably would rate as acceptable. A billionaire with more bucks than hospitality training hires a local woman, just off a bad relationship to make the place shipshape and Instagram worthy. However the crew that is hired has plenty of troubles and secrets of their own, and a ghost wanders the halls causing mischief and problems, which might make that grand opening kind of awkward.
The book is summer reading with a capital Summer. Lots of food mentions and places to visit in Nantucket, so much so that you wonder if Ms. Hilderbrand gets a cut from the tourism board. In fact she adds in her own guide about what to see, where to eat and travel. The cast is interesting and the idea of the ghost is different and kind of amusing sometimes. No great surprises, but this is more a book for the beach, so that is to be expected.
Fans won't be disappointed, new ones won't be put off. For fans of Mary Kay Andrews, Emily Giffin and Jennifer Weiner.
Unfortunately this was a miss for me. I have read several Elin Hilderbrand books and was so excited when I was approved for this one however it felt different. I literally went back and checked to see if this was written by Elin.
I am a diehard Elin fan and cannot WAIT for each new book to come out. HOTEL NANTUCKET doesn't disappoint. I love seeing the island through the lens of the hospitality industry. I'm not completely sold on the supernatural spin Elin's been adding to the last few books, but I definitely don't hate it. Maybe it''ll grow on me! The tangled web that connects each of these complex characters provides a great story with romance, intrigue, and drama. And as a bonus, at the end of the book Elin has provided her own "Blue Book" (kinda like a travel guide) with tips and tricks for your own stay on Nantucket....everything from how to actually get ON the island (plan ahead!), to what age crowd will be found at each of the recommended beaches. I am a loyal Elin-er and will be so sad when she retires in a few years. But for now, I will continue to gobble up anything she offers, cause its always SO GOOD!
I loved this book ! I'd only read The Perfect Couple by Elin Hildebrand before this, which I very much enjoyed, but now I want to read all her back catalogue (some of which sits on my TBR shelf and will be moved up the list !).
I loved the cast of characters and multiple points of view. I felt like I got a first-hand account of a juicy summer on Nantucket Island. Speaking of which, reading this book made me want to book a trip to Nantucket, pronto. Between the exquisite details of the hotel itself, the surrounding spots, and the mouthwatering food, I found myself Googling pictures of the Island, recipes (seared scallop tacos will be added to my menu very soon), and even some of the décor (a Nest lemon mint candle may be the next addition to my home library). If you're looking for a fun escape that has both heart and humour, this one's for you ! ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐ ⭐
Thank you very much for the advanced copy in exchange for my honest review 😀
I enjoy all of Elin Hilderbrand’s books, but this one is hands down my favorite. The descriptions of food, drink and location were unbelievable, it made me feel like I was on Nantucket. I want to try every food and drink, visit every place and spend time with the staff of The Hotel Nantucket. I have a vision of what the hotel looks like thanks to the beautiful description of all the trims and decor. 5 star read for sure!
