A fun read about a group of misfits thrown together to work for the summer at the Hotel Nantucket. Included in the misfits is the ghost of a chambermaid that was killed in a fire at the hotel in 1922. I had mixed emotions about some of the characters but as the story developed I grew to like each of them.
As I was reading I felt like I was a part of Nantucket. Although I have never been there, it is on my bucket list. Overall, this is an enjoyable book with a fun story. I highly recommend this to all fans of Women's Fiction and certainly fans of Elin Hilderbrand. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an advanced copy!
When I saw the hotel nantucket pop up I jumped to get an early net galley copy . I’ve loved Elin Hilderbrands other books 28 summers , Summer of 69 ,and the Paradise series to just name a few . The hotel Nantucket did not disappoint .
The story is told in third person following several different hotel workers and the ghost👻 who haunts it . Elins writing truly transports the reader to the charming island of Nantucket . Much like her other books I got completely sucked in ! This would be a great beach or pool side read 😎
Thank you Netgalley !
Elin Hilderbrand has done it again. The Hotel Nantucket has a storied past on the island. It has been abandoned for years but has been renovated by a mysterious billionaire. The story centers around the hotel management and staff. They are all dealing with issues in their personal lives. Lizbet, the hotel manager, also has to deal with opening the new hotel and building the clientele. As usual Elin Hilderbrand stories have a happy ending to a glorious summer. This is a five star beach read.

4.5 stars rounded up to 5 stars.
This novel is a fun summer beach read. It has very enjoyable characters and their personal story lines. I also enjoyed the intriguing story line about a ghost of the chambermaid that was killed during a fire at the hotel in 1922.
After this fire, the hotel is sold and bought several times. It did not find success until it was finally purchased by a billionaire located out of Britain. The owner hires the main character, Lizbet to run and manage the hotel. She was tasked with hiring and managing all the staff. These employees hide lots of secrets which add to the fascination of this novel. The owner tasks Lizbet and the staffto achieve a 5 key review from a hotel influencer. The reviewer has never given a 5 key review and Lizbet knows her hotel and staff can achieve this.
Thanks to NetGalley and Little Brown & Company for the opportunity to review this book. This book releases on June 14th. Be sure to pick up a copy for a outstanding summer read.
Excellent! No one does it like Elin Hilderbrand! She makes you want to visit Nantucket and now I want to work there at the Hotel Nantucket! I was so immersed in the stories of the employees and the drama of their lives. Absolutely excellent!
In Hotel Nantucket Elin Hilderbrand takes us back to the island . This summer, a billionaire from London, who has never even visited, renovates the old, haunted, vacant and run down Hotel Nantucket. With the help of recently unemployed restaurateur Lizbet and a 30 million dollar budget, it is turned into a luxury hotel with the hottest new nightclub on the island. Rumours of a ghost haunting the hotel limits Lizbet’s staffing choices, even with a salary above the other hotels on the island, only a scant few applicants arrive. However, optimistically she knows it’s not the number of resumes she receives that is important, as long as the applicants are qualified and capable, and capable they need to be if they are to receive a coveted 5 key review from the hottest hotel reviewer in the world.
As we are used to, Ms. Hilderbrand has a rich cast of characters with their own backstory and baggage to engage the reader through another sumner on Nantucket Island. Some familiar favourites make an appearance and as always the setting itself tells a story.
As we read about the beaches, and local attractions, bars and restaurants we are transported to a small island 30 miles out to sea that we can visit yearly in our minds. Ms. Hilderbrand includes her version of the hotels “ blue book” for those planning a trip to Nantucket for a day, a week or a summer which I enjoyed reading ( almost) as much as I enjoyed the story!
Obsessed with The Hotel Nantucket! I’ve read all of Elin Hilderbrand’s books, and this ranks in my top 3 favorites. I loved reading the behind the scenes of running the hotel, and all juicy drama the guests brought. All of the employees had a secret this summer, and I loved the way they all unraveled through this amazing story. 5 keys for this outstanding novel!
Brief synopsis
In 1922 Grace dies in a tragic fire in the hotel Nantucket. The hotel goes through multiple owners and multiple unsuccessful years. A billionaire buys the hotel and hires Lizbet a local as the general manager who renovates the hotel and hires staff. This book follows all the hotel staff and Grace the ghost and her shenanigans.
My thoughts:
- I enjoyed getting to know all the hotel staff and guests. They each had their own stories that brought them to the hotel
-I loved Lizbeth and Mario’s relationship and I wanted more. I didn’t feel like it was explored enough in the book
- Grace was a fun, cute ghost that made you laugh as she spied on the hotel guests
-Overall while this book was cute and I loved the ending the middle felt slow and boring at times for me
The Hotel Nantucket doesn't disappoint- it is a quintessential fun summer read! The book focuses on Lizbet Keaton who has left her long term partner after discovering he was sexting with another woman. Lizbet has also left behind her job running her ex-partner's restaurant and is eager to find a new direction. She is hired by Xavier Darling to be the general-manager at a new Hotel Nantucket. Xavier has ulterior motives for wanting to bring the old hotel back to life. What I loved about this book is that Elin Hilderbrand creates a world unto itself by bringing to life all of the different characters that work at and stay at the hotel! It feels like the reader is a bit of a voyeur into so many different lives. Not everyone is as they seem and there's also the little issue of a ghost who is "sort of" haunting the hotel! Enjoy this satisfying and upbeat read.
"They can fix it up, but it won't succeed. Mark my words: The Hotel Nantucket is haunted, and it's all my father's fault,"
Synopsis: After a tragic fire in 1922 that killed 19-year-old chambermaid, Grace Hadley, The Hotel Nantucket descended from a gilded age gem to a mediocre budget-friendly lodge to inevitably an abandoned eyesore — until it's purchased and renovated top to bottom by London billionaire, Xavier Darling. Xavier hires Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton as his general manager, and Lizbet, in turn, pulls together a charismatic, if inexperienced, staff who share the vision of turning the fate of the hotel around. They face challenges in getting along with one another (and with the guests), in overcoming the hotel's bad reputation, and in surviving the (mostly) harmless shenanigans of Grace Hadley herself — who won't stop haunting the hotel until her murder is acknowledged.
Personal Review: 4.5 Stars
Break out the Nantucket Red, the rose’, the blue hydrangea, clam bakes, dancing at The Chicken Box. Head to Cape Air, take the Seastreak Ferry across Nantucket Sound and check into the Hotel Nantucket with Elin Hilderbrand. The queen of beach reads has done it once again, with a book that perfectly encompasses summer, love, friendship, with a tinge of paranormal activity. If I lost you on that last part - DON'T GO! This book was the perfect mix of beautiful settings, character development, and a plot that wouldn't let you put the book down - also, let's talk about Hilderbrand's ability to describe in depth and leave me swooning over the hotel! From the building's original oak beams, the authentic whale boat that serves as a chandelier, living area with a whole mixture of best sellers and beach reads, fully stocked complimentary mini bar, custom sized emperor bed, cashmere blanket from Nantucket Looms, and the hand-painted Nantucket sky on each rooms ceiling - TAKE ME THERE! As I read this novel, I was planning my trip to Nantucket and hoping to stay in a hotel like the Hotel Nantucket. The Blue Bar, wellness center, and pool left me visualizing my next vacation. This novel was decadent for the senses.
The Hotel Nantucket was had a full cast of characters, that originally were hard to grasp in the beginning, but came just as lovable once I was able to differentiate. You know when you are reading a novel with multiple points-of-view and you get stuck in once character and want to live out the rest of the novel as them? This book was not that - each character was so interesting and lovable all the same, that it was so easy to transition to each different character, their storyline, and their place in the plot. My favorite character was definitely Grace the Ghost, followed short second by Ms. English!
The more I think back on this book, the more pieces I loved! The mystery of how the characters came to Nantucket, the paranormal aspect of Grace the Ghost, the intrigue of who would win the weekly money, the suspense of gaining the 5th key and the elusive identity of Shelly Carpenter.
I can't thank NetGalley, Elin Hilderbrand and Little, Brown and Company for the complimentary copy of this novel in exchange for my honest opinion. If you are looking for the perfect beach read - you have arrived. In the words of Shelly Carpenter...
"Stay well, friends. And do good. -SC"
I really tried hard to like this, I did. I've always been a big fan of the hotel industry and I loved reading about the business, the people who worked there, and the fun travelers who visited.
Unfortunately, that's where it kind of ends. There were so many different characters and point of views in this book I was left without an attachment to anyone. The characters all felt pretty surface level, with the exception of one. I'm still not entirely sure what the point of the story was and, honestly, I was bored throughout.
But do I want to visit Nantucket to eat at a place like this restaurant? Yes, yes I do.
Thanks to net galley for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
I wait all year long for Elin’s beach reads - it means summer is truly almost As always, there’s quite a cast of characters (and cameos from some old favorites - a mention of Fast Eddie Pancik on page 1 was truly chef's kiss!) - I’m a little more halfway through now and I don’t want it to end because I’ll have to wait another year for the next one! It releases June 14, so get it on your radar now.
Elin did it again! I always love her books and this was no exception. The twists and turns, albeit ever so slightly, made for such a fun read. I loved all of the characters and truly got attached. I couldn’t put it down but was so sad when it ended!
The Hotel Nantucket tells the story of the newly renovated Hotel Nantucket and its hotel stuff, including the ghost of Grace, who has haunted the hotel for over 100 years and thinks it’s finally time for someone to know her story. Lucky for her (and for the Hotel Nantucket), there's a little girl who stays for the summer and fancies herself as the next Nancy Drew.
Like many of Hilderbrand’s novels, the story is told through multiple different perspectives, all in the third-person, and in this one everyone has a secret. We hear from Lizbeth, the hotel’s general manager who just broke up with her long-time boyfriend but quickly finds herself in the throes of a new summer romance; Edie, a local girl who went to college for hotel management and works the front desk while avoiding messages from her ex; Alessandra, the front desk manager who received a lot of male attention and has a mysterious past; Chad, whose family vacations at Nantucket each year but who wants to make a change; Magda, the head housekeeper who seems to be a little too well-off for a housekeeper; and Grace, the aforementioned ghost.
It might seem like a lot of characters to keep up with but after a few chapters you figure out who everyone is; you'll quickly find yourself immersed in the hotel life and caught up with what everyone is hiding! The Hotel Nantucket is a page-turner and while it is escapist fiction, I did find myself really invested in the characters and wanting to know what secrets everyone had (there are a lot!). There are some characters I would have liked to know more about, mostly Zeke English, one of the bellmen. I would have loved to hear the story from his perspective but I’m hopeful Hilderbrand will write an entire novel about him soon!
One of the things I love about a Hilderbrand novel is they are almost impossible to read without finding yourself completely transported to Nantucket Island, with its beautiful beaches and delicious food and drinks. I especially liked the author's own "Blue Book" at the end of the novel with her very own recommendations on what to check out if you ever find yourself on Nantucket. I really enjoyed this book and would absolutely recommend it to Hilderbrand fans and anyone looks for a good summer beach read. While the story doesn’t take place on a beach exactly, it still has a summer/beach vibe and would be perfect reading whenever you go on vacation.
Thank you to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the advanced reader’s copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
This book deserves 20 stars!! This book was so good I finished it in 2 days - couldn’t put it down and couldn’t turn the pages fast enough! Thank you Netgalley for this advanced copy and thank you Elin for a pre summer book!!
I am so appreciative to receive an early copy of this book to review!
This is typical Elin Hilderbrand - evocative of a Nantucket summer - secrets, stolen romances, etc. Lizbeat Keaton is desperate as a new start - the general manager of the rebuilt Hotel Nantucket. She has her work cut out for her with an eclectic staff, interesting guests and one ghost who does not want to stay quiet about her secrets.
A total joy to read, made me long for summer.
I was very excited to have the opportunity to read Elin Hilderbrand's newest book, The Hotel Nantucket. This book did not disappoint. I love how there are several different characters' storylines woven into the story of a hotel that has been renovated and re-opened. Lizbet Keaton has recently broken up with her longtime boyfriend and is looking for a new place to work. She is hired as the general manager at the new Hotel Nantucket. The hotel is owned by a billionaire and has undergone extensive remodeling. Many of the newly hired staff have pasts that they are looking to forget this summer. The hotel is also haunted by a past employee who is waiting for someone to discover the secret of her death.
The Hotel Nantucket is Elin HIlderbrand’s latest offering, offering further proof of her regal status of being a queen for consistently writing fantastic and engaging books.
I look forward to Elin Hilderbrand’s novels any time I hear that a new one is being released. And this one is such a fantastic summer read. It pulled me in immediately, with Hilderbrand’s charming style of writing, like if you were sitting on a porch with some girlfriends, smoking a fat one or having some drinks and just talking and laughing. She really does tell a story.
This kept me riveted and I devoured it every time I had the time to read (and some times when I didn’t). I loved the plot and the storylines. My only issue is that with so many characters you don’t get to spend as much time reading them as you do with a smaller cast. I would have loved to read more about everyone.
A definite recommendation.

Thank you to netgalley for the arc of this ebook! I absolutely love Elin Hildebrand so I definitely fan girled for this book!!
This author has a way of transporting you to the sandy beaches of Nantucket, I have never been to Nantucket but from reading her books it feels like I have been!
This is the perfect sunny day/beach read or perfect for a rainy day to make you feel like it's sunny and your on a beach!
This book gave me all the feel goods and I can't rave about it enough!
If you want to read it to it will be published June 14th!
I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I love Elin Hilderbrand books, but this one will not go down as a favorite. It was a good read, great plot and excellent characters, but there was too much going on, and just not as good as her other books.
