Elin Hilderbrand artfully creates a world at the Hotel Nantucket and keeps the plot moving forward with a diverse cast of characters and multiple storylines. I enjoyed this novel and reading about the many people at this hotel - including a ghost from 1922.
As always, Elin Hildebrand has made me love Nantucket! It's officially on my bucket list of places to visit. This book is full of loveable characters, lush settings, and delicious food. There's also a sassy ghost!
The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand is a novel with a great many layers. It has history and intrigue and ghosts. There’s something for everyone! It is a remarkable tribute to the setting of Nantucket and is filled with characters so alive you’ll expect to find them there. It really is the perfect book to read if you want to escape to Nantucket. I received a digital copy of this book from the publisher with no obligations. These opinions are entirely my own.
This was only my second Elin Hilderbrand book, and it has given me an appreciation for her character development and writing style. I went into this story blind, but knowing Elin has made a name for herself. I enjoyed this beach read style book that followed many different people and their walks of life as each played a role in maintaining Hotel Nantucket.
This is a great book if you want an easy read, or a 'beach read'. I do find some of the plot felt a little overdone, but there is something to be said about familiarity in a book. Definitely recommend if you are looking for an light read. I look forward to reading more by Elin Hinderbrand.
I will say, I did love the addition of the Blue Book towards the end which provided a detail guide to anyone looking to visit Nantucket.
Thanks to NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for a gifted copy in exchange for an honest review.
It is an interesting experience to evolve as a reader with a favorite author like Elin Hilderbrand, especially knowing she's retiring. Hotel Nantucket is another paranormal beach piece like Golden Girl. I expected familiar characters and places, but I thought she'd return to a more typical beach read like those prior. I still enjoyed and appreciated the escape and will really miss her thoughtfully developed characters and vivid descriptions.
I loved Elin Hilderbrand’s previous work, and I loved this one too. Reading one of Elin’s novels feels like coming home to an old friend.
Take me to Nantucket now! Hilderbrand strikes again - a delightful novel with engaging characters, delectable food and setting descriptions...
Elin Hilderbrand is one of my all time favorite authors. Every time I read her I’m transported to the beach and her juicy characters are always a hit. This one was no different and The Hotel Nantucket was another 5 huge star. This one was a little different from her normal with the history aspect but I really loved it and can’t wait to read her again!
The Hotel Nantucket was one a local gem but after a fire in 1922 that took the life of a chambermaid, the hotel fell to despair. It has recently been purchased by a rich businessman who has dreams of returning the hotel to its former glory, and he has hired the perfect team see it through. The hotel is rumored to be haunted by the ghost of the dead chambermaid, but no one can confirm nor deny her presence in the hotel.
I really enjoyed this one and the audio had me hooked! This book is the perfect palate cleanser - it is more substantial than a lot of romcoms but not as heavy as most historical fiction reads or thrillers. I found it the perfect in between! This book could honestly be a movie or miniseries and I would watch it - I loved all the different characters and typical to Elin's books there was no shortage of drama. I also loved the overlap with characters from Elin's other books, especially the Quinns from Winter Street! I love that series so mentions of them were very welcomed.
My only nit picky comment with this book was all the pop culture/social media references - it felt a little forced/try hard for me, like a parent trying to connect with their teenagers. Overall I'd recommend this to anyone who is looking for a fun book with a vibrant cast of characters.
I am never disappointed in reading a book by Elin Hilderbrand and The Hotel Nantucket came flying through for me. I have a habit of reading long involved books so when I pick up one from Elin I know I can sit back and just enjoy the story. There were some plot twists that will keep you guessing to the end. Pick up a copy and sit back and enjoy.
I'm actually quite shocked Hilderbrand wrote a book with a ghost. It seems beneath her. I've read all her other books and love the setting of Nantucket. I definitely wanted to visit the glorious hotel. But I'm worried about where her books are leading. Golden Girl also had the ghost of the mother looking down. Perhaps she's changing style?
Another great read from Elin Hilderbrand. I loved the ghost perspective, it was different and new. I loved all of the characters and their different personalities.
A beach read like this is just what I needed right now with all the craziness in the world. There is a reason Elin Hilderbrand is the queen of beach reads. Loved the balance of drama and mystery as well as the Nantucket setting. I will absolutely read more of her work soon!
Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors and this one did not disappoint!! I love the way this story was told with and I've gifted this book to my mom and several friends.
A summer of buzzy scandal. A storied hotel. A breeding ground for gossip and mystery. Lizabet is hoping for a fresh start and the management position should be that start. If only she can charm their elusive owner. It’s full of behind the scenes drama. A celebrity chef, a restaurant that should be doing better than it does. Locals who resist change. It’s fast paced and a quick read all the elements you want on hot summer days.
A great read, for the beach or when you want to be transported to a beach town in the middle of winter. There was scandal. There was mystery. There was laughter. There was a little bit of everything you could ask for from Elin Hilderbrand.
The whole book I was guessing about who the esteemed Shelly Carpenter was, as the Hotel Nantucket was trying to earn a “5 Key” rating. I guessed wrong for everyone I assumed, which is always fun. I loved every character in this book (and there were a lot). They all had something amazing to contribute to the storyline. Everything wrapped up so nicely at the end and maybe, just maybe, there could be a sequel?
P.S. I especially loved the recommendations in “The Blue Book” at the very end. I’ve been to Nantucket, once, for a day trip, and now I can’t wait to go back and maybe have a longer stay to see more of the things recommended by Elin!
This book took me a little time to get into, and while it wasn’t my favorite by Elin Hilderbrand, I still liked it and would recommend it. At times I found it difficult to remember which character was which, but once their storylines got more developed I found it to be more enjoyable. Thank you, NetGalley, for the ARC!
I just love her books. This one did not disappoint!!!

I love Elin Hilderbrand! Another fan favorite and easy to devour summer read. This novel felt like it was lacking in plot compared to her other narratives - a bit too many characters to follow and not enough connection between the character's narratives for me as the reader. The desire for a hotel review felt a bit superfictial - felt like this novel lacked depth in plot.
Set in Hilderbrand's usual setting of Nantucket, this had all of the elements I love in a book: a terrific boutique hotel setting with lots of behind-the-scenes descriptions, appealing characters (even the less-than-appealing people were interesting), and even a resident ghost with a good backstory. I was invested in the various plot lines but the stories started getting a wee bit convoluted and a couple of the storylines seemed to wrap up too quickly. But I would recommend it for anyone needing something to read when the flight is delayed.
