Hilderbrand has done it again with an easy, breezy summer beach read that will melt all of your worries away. The Hotel Nantucket was once a grand hotel that had slowly fallen into disrepair, until billionaire Xavier Darling swoops in to renovate the historic hotel. Xavier hires newly single Nantucket sweetheart Lizbet Keaton as his general manager, and Zizbet is determined to revive the hotel to the glamour of past days. Lizbet assembles a dynamic team to help her run the hotel, and it slowly becomes the place to stay in Nantucket.
What Lizbet doesn't count on is a ghost.
Grace Hadley was a chambermaid who allegedly passed away from a fire in the hotel 100 years ago. However, Grace cannot rest easy until the truth about her mysterious death is revealed to all. In the meantime, she will continue to encroach on the lives of those in the hotel until the truth surrounding her death is acknowledged.
The protagonists in the story are simply marvelous. You will find yourself rooting for Lizbet as she navigates her new single status and love life, and also find yourself laughing at Grace's shenanigans. What Hilderbrand lacks in originality, she more than makes up for in nostalgia, laughter, and light-heartedness. This book is a gem for sure and should not be missed.
You really can't go wrong with any of Elin's books - when you want to hold on to summer a little longer, this is the way to go. Good characters, a location that you'll want to visit - this really transports you there. I read it through so quick because I wanted to stay within the pages.
Another great read by Elin Hilderbrand. I really enjoy the atmosphere that she is able to create in all of her books. The coastal town, close knit community, and of course, the drama. Yet another great book, looking forward to reading more.

Synopsis: London based hotelier Xavier Darling has his eyes set on buying and refurbishing the historic Hotel Nantucket. At the helm is general manager Lizbet Keaton who is working hard with her staff to put the Hotel Nantucket on the map in the modern age. They are anxiously awaiting a visit and review from famous travel influencer Shelley Carpenter. With hard work and exceptional customer service, what could go wrong? Enter the ghost of Grace Hadley, a maid who died when the Hotel Nantucket caught fire in the 1920s. All Grace wants is to have her story heard. Can the staff at the hotel help bring Grace rest before the hotel is doomed forever?
Thoughts: Elin Hildebrand is an auto-read author for me. I gave this book 5 stars and I am naming it as one of my favorite reads of 2022. First of all, Elin Hildebrand writes her books with a beautiful sense of place. Nantucket and the Hotel come alive as characters in their own right in this book. Her writing has me so in love with Nantucket (bonus: a travel guide is included in this book) that I am now planning a visit there! The characters in this book are richly written and I found myself deeply invested in their humanity, trials, and development. The ghost story element of this book is an added bonus and enriched an already fantastic read. I cannot say enough good things about this book!
For Fans of: Books set in coastal New England, Nantucket, any Elin Hildebrand books, rooting for the underdog, historical ghost stories, historical buildings with a story.
Elin did it again!! I tried to read The Hotel Nantucket as slowly as possible to savor every page but I found myself speeding through it so I could find out what happened. The Blue Book at the end is truly a love letter to Nantucket. Elin made it so easy to plan a trip to Nantucket! I’m thinking girls weekend September 2023, because September is still summer! 5+ sunshines
Elin Hilderbrand is an author I trust with my time. I love the way Nantucket is always it's own character. She never fails to paint a beautiful picture. Makes me want to jump on a plane and see it when I finish one of her novels. I didn't love or totally buy the paranormal storyline as much as some, but otherwise it was a good read.
I want to thank Netgalley and the author for gifting me the ebook. A good women's fiction novel. Love the cover. Recommend
Elin Hilderbrand remains one of my favorite authors after reading “The Hotel Nantucket.” This book is the beach summer/beach read and the story of the hotel. I was hesitant at first with addition of the ghost but she was just as endearing as the other characters. I highly recommend “The Hotel Nantucket” especially if you want to be whisked away to a beach town.
Thank you NetGalley and Little, Brown and Company for the digital arc in exchange for my honest review.
I don't think I could have love the story or setting of The Hotel Nantucket by Elin Hilderbrand anymore than I did. The multiple perspective storytelling and Gilded Age hotel are highlights of the book almost as much as the incredibly charming characters, especially Lizbet. The story is dramatic, witty, and entertaining overall; a classic summer-style beach read.
A fun change from my usual reads 😊
I really liked this one!! I loved seeing the hotel progress and seeing the characters develop over the summer. I definitely became attached to the characters so much so that even I want to work at the hotel! I enjoyed the ending and how well everything was played out. I also really enjoyed the lil ghost aspect they threw in there👻
The Hotel Nantucket was an engaging novel following the staff members and one slightly mischievous ghost during the summer of 2022 during their first season. I enjoyed the various plot lines and learning more about Nantucket, too. It was simply difficult to put down as I got more engrossed in their stories. Fans of Elin’s previous work will adore this addition to her backlist.
Thank you to the publisher for the advanced review copy, receipt of which did not impact my review.

Lizbet Keaton needs a fresh start and what could be more fresh than the re-opening of an iconic hotel on Nantucket that is rumored to be haunted. The Hotel Nantucket features a lovable cast of characters (including said ghost, Grace!) over the course of the summer as the The Hotel Nantucket fights for its right to be open and for the elusive fifth key from legendary hotel reviewer Shelley Carpenter.
I have never been disappointed by an Elin Hilderbrand novel and this one is no exception. It is everything I want in a beach read or even a middle of winter read when I wish I was at the beach. Her beautiful cast of characters continue to come alive page after page and she does them absolutely no disservice in developing their stories.
Thanks to NetGalley, Little, Brown and Company, and Elin Hilderbrand for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!
I enjoyed this one, as I usually do when it comes to Elin Hilderbrand.
I especially enjoyed the story behind the ghost, and how they brought the hotel back to life. As always, I loved the beach setting and descriptions of Nantucket and the ocean. Another great beach read.
This book had so much potential but as soon as I started reading and saw that there was a ghost character, I was immediately turned off. It was hard for me to get past the parts with the ghosts POV. I have absolutely loved every other Elin Hilderbrand book that I have ever picked up so I had high hopes for this one. In my opinion, when you mix paranormal with an otherwise decent story, it just comes off as cheesy and less realistic. The plot was great though so if paranormal is your thing, I would absolutely recommend this read. If you're not into ghosts, I would suggest skipping this one and opting for literally any other Elin book as they are all fabulous!
Elin Hilderbrand is one of my favorite authors. Her books are such a delight and her latest The Hotel Nantucket is just another in a long line of winners. Lizbet Keaton has had a bad breakup with her long time boyfriend and is looking for a fresh start. She gets that as she is named the new general manager of the Hotel Nantucket, a once wonderful hotel which has been abandoned for a long time. She hopes that she can win over the new owner Xavier Darling, as well as that of Shelly Carpenter, the popular Instagrammer who can help put them back on the map. As with any business there’s a lot of drama behind closed doors. The staff and guests have complicated pasts, and the hotel can’t seem to overcome the bad reputation it earned in 1922 when a tragic fire killed nineteen-year-old chambermaid Grace Hadley. With Grace the ghost haunting the halls, a staff harboring all kinds of secrets, and Lizbet’s own romantic uncertainty, the Hotel Nantucket provides a perfect summer read.
Lizbet Keayton is ready to start over. After a messy (and very public) break up she finds herself the manager of the mysterious, brand new hotel on Nantucket. Working hard to gather a fun staff, Lizbet does everything in her power to appease her secretive boss in his quest to win the coveted fifth key review and become the most popular hotel on the island. Along the way the ghost of nineteen-year old Grace Hadley, a chambermaid who was killed in a fire at hotel in 1922 will do everything she can to get people to notice her. Will that spell doom for the hotel or be the thing that saves them all. A quirky and loveable cast of characters will keep readers turning pages.
Lizbet is hired as the manager for the refurbishment of the Nantucket hotel by millionaire Xavier Darling. He is determined to win a 5th key from a travel blog and spares no expense. As their first summer progresses the stakes are high. Bonuses based on reviews are awarded and some staff isn’t above cheating. With her job on the line Lisbet navigates the summer problems. I’m a big fan of Elian and read just about everything she writes. This one is extra good.
I always look forward to reading the new Elin book every summer. It has become something of a ritual for myself. Once again Hildebrand transports readers back to her beloved Nantucket. This iteration is focused on the opening and first season of the remodeled Hotel Nantucket. The book follows those working and even living in the hotel as well as the ghost that haunts its halls. While the premise was interesting, I was not as engaged in this book as some of her other reads. I was interested in hearing about the characters, but felt a little less connected to the island in this book. For readers of Hildebrand I don't think you will be disappointed, but I don't know that this will top the list of her books.
‘The Hotel Nantucket’ by Elin Hilderbrand is a mostly sweet novel of a new hotel opening in Nantucket and all of the new staff who come on board. The twist is the hotel has been around a long time, long enough to have opened and closed a few times and housed a murder. Hilderbrand makes a fun choice in giving the ghost of the murdered maid her very own voice. It may sound silly but it was really one of the more endearing parts of the novel. She is a nice perspective who has picked up an appreciation for pop culture. The rest of the cast are overall fine and their build up is quasi predictable and well-written. There are numerous subplots, which is to be expected with a full staff of characters to work with, but it also means some are more interesting than others. Overall, the book is nice and sweet. The final chapter is actually the author’s “guide book” for Nantucket. So, if you were planning a trip this would be a fun book to have ready first.
WHO SHOULD READ IT: Fans of Elin HIlderbrand. Personally, it was an okay read for me, but friends who really enjoy the author seemed to enjoy it more. Alternately, if you found it laying around a beach house it would be worth a flip through.
⭐ OVERALL RATING:⭐
⭐⭐⭐ | Liked it to Meh - These are still well written books and for some people they will still like them I, however, found them predictable, okay, or mostly boring. They still have some enjoyable parts and I would probably recommend to certain people. I would have no interest in a reread.
❤️ ROMANCE RATING: ❤️
❤️❤️ | Good story, but they might break up.
🔥 STEAM RATING: 🔥
🔥🔥 | Heating up - References to sex are more overt but not graphic (kissing, a layer of clothing being removed or characters walking to the bedroom and the author will cut to the next scene). Can likely be read by older teens and family members.
Thank you @netgalley and Little, Brown and Company for early access to this ARC in return for an unbiased and voluntary review.

I have never been to Nantucket- or anywhere near- but I always hungrily gobble up books by Elin Hilderbrand. This book, like all her books, has several interwoven storylines; characters you love; characters you don't love; happy endings and room for sequels. I love her writing and descriptions of the seaside town, and found the Blue Book at the end fascinating..... it made me want to vacation in Nantucket next summer. Hildebrand is, in my opinion, the undisputed queen of summer reading/Beach reads. As usual, I love this book and cannot wait for future titles- and hopefully a sequel.
