His Final Hunt is a predictable mystery. Cameron is out to get answers to what really happened to her husband. Along the way she'll learn what a deceitful man he was and the secrets he has hidden. But Cameron has her own secrets.

She'll piece together information that takes her to remote Alaska in her search.
But why is her husbands business partner trying to stop her? What really happened on their hunting trip?

This a a quick and easy suspense that will keep you interested until the end.

I don't really have anything praise-worthy to say. The middle dragged for me. I didn't exactly hate it but I didn't love it either. I can see how a lot of people would like this but it just didn't really appeal to me as I read the story, which is a bummer because I was looking forward to the story after reading the synopsis and positive reviews. It was an easy read though it had a pretty predictable ending plus it was also quite entertaining, let's just say that I expected more and was left unsatisfied by the end. In short I'm pretty neutral about the whole book.

Ooooh! This one drew me in right away!! I started it during my lunch hour and it was hard to tear myself away to go back to work. It is a page-turning thriller about a woman - Cameron - who finds evidence that her dead husband was a serial killer! Whaaaat!?! The circumstances of his death were questionable since his body was never found, so Cameron takes it upon herself to search for the truth before she loses everything! While I liked that she was a baddie on a mission, there were some circumstances where you had to suspend reality - like that she could survive by herself in the Alaskan wilderness with no experience in winter camping. I really enjoyed the character Dane and wish more time had been spent developing his contribution to the story. There were some unanswered questions that did not get resolved by the end of the book, but I found it to be an enjoyable read and I will definitely look for more books by Audrey Cole. I could see this being turned into an exciting movie! For me this was a solid 3.75 stars, rounded up to 4. Thanks for the ARC, #NetGalley, #BooksGoSocial and #AudreyJCole! #TheFinalHunt

Such a great and compelling book, it had me hooked from the beginning. the story was very well written fast paced, which I find perfect when it comes to mysteries and thrillers, because I get hooked on the books easily. Though a bit predictable towards the end, it still had me second guessing all the characters, something I personally believe to be a great feature in these type of books. I liked the fact that there weren’t lots of characters, because sometimes that can get confusing, especially in this genre. This was my first book by Audrey J. Cole and it was a great and enjoyable read. I will definitely be reading other books by her! Thank you Netgalley for sharing this book!

I loved Audrey J. Cole’s The Pilot’s Daughter and couldn’t wait to read The Final Hunt. While the stories are very different, the writing is excellent for both and they are real page-turners. Cameron finds out that her husband John was a serial killer. John supposedly died in a bear attack when he was at his hunting cabin, but Cameron is convinced that he’s still alive. Her quest to find him brings her to a remote area of Alaska. The details about life in Alaska were fascinating and there are some great twists throughout the book. I really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it. Thanks to #netgalley and #rainierpublishing for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

If I had to describe this book with a sentence I’d say it was a mild read about some heinous crimes with a dash of mystery/suspense and as little answers as possible.

I loved the small chapters which were a contributing factor that helped with giving the illusion that the plot is fast paced.
It was an okay read, kinda predictable and leaves a lot of questions without giving an answer.
I’m more used to shocking revelation filled thrillers tho so if you’re into the mood for a light easy to read mystery/thriller that’s the one for you.

Thank you Netgalley and BooksGoSocial for the digital arc..

When Cameron’s husband John is tragically killed on what was supposed to be a fun hunting trip, she is devastated. During her mourning period she begins to look through his things and finds shocking pictures of him with dead women. She alerts the police and finds out that her husband is linked to a string of murders and that John was none other than a notorious serial killer. When another murder surfaces with her late husband’s MO she realizes - if he was able to fake being the perfect husband, what if he was able to fake his own death? Cameron goes on the adventure of a lifetime to hunt down her husband’s secrets, and to keep her own hidden.

I gave this book 4 stars. I really enjoyed how fast-paced it was and was able to get through it in a day. The book really pulls you in and you are determined to see the story through. I took off one star because the twist in the story was predictable and I probably would have enjoyed it more if it was presented differently. Overall a great story that I would recommend for anyone who wants a compelling and quick book to read.

The author continues her hot streak when it comes to presenting excellent stories. In this novel, readers meet a dentist whose lawyer husband is reported dead, killed by a bear. When unknown mortgages, bank withdrawals, and cashed-in insurance policies appear, evidence seems to point in another direction. Is he really dead? What about rumors of his criminal activities? With secrets of her own to hide, the grieving wife looks for her husband in an exciting story.

The book opens with the death of Cameron’s husband, John. The first chapter is about her grief, until she discovers photographs of John’s involvement in heinous crimes. Finding that out right at the beginning hooked me for the rest of the story. Throughout the book, Cameron was not afraid to do what she has to do.

I really enjoyed the pace and the detail of the book. It was very well written and I was able to imagine everything in detail. The narrative is told from the perspective of Cameron and the detective, Tanner, which rounds out the story better than a single narrator.

This book was a good mix of fairly predictable and not very predictable twists. One or two I definitely saw coming, but some of it was kind of a surprise. A perfect amount to keep me guessing and keep me on my toes.

Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher, and the author for providing me with an advanced reader's copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

The Final Hunt is an action-packed suspense novel about Cameron, a woman who finds out that her late husband was a serial killer known as The Teacher Killer. After finding some evidence that leads her to believe he is still alive and hiding in Alaska, she goes on a journey to the wilderness to find him and bring him to justice.

I really enjoyed this book. The plot was mysterious, fast moving and filled with exciting moments, I love books that have strong, exciting plots, and this one kept my attention the whole time. I would have liked a little more character development, and maybe some scenes of Cameron and her life before all the drama begins. This book would make a great movie. I would recommend this book to suspense readers. Fans of "The Last Thing He Told Me" will really enjoy this book.

4.25⭐️

This was my first book by Audrey J Cole and I loved it! It was fast paced and I loved the setting in Alaska and I thought Cole wrote all of the supporting characters really well. I would have liked to see more of Dane in the story though - he was one of my favourite characters.

Cameron is grieving the loss of her husband when she finds evidence that he was a serial killer. This story switches between Cameron’s point of view and Thomas’ (the main detective) point of view.

I predicted parts of the ending, but there were definitely elements that I didn’t anticipate. I really liked the ending!

This was a fun read. I read it in almost one sitting.
It's so easy to read.

It's slightly eyerolling at times (if you know what I mean) but don't over think it,and it's just entertaining.
That's quite often what I'm looking for in a book.

This thriller took us to the Alaskan wilderness where it takes survival skills and strength to survive. I rooted for Cameron throughout her journey in Alaska because she was tough and resilient and a pilot to boot. It is refreshing to read about a female character that can rise to the occasion and not rely on others to take charge. The book had a unique plot, was well paced and kept my interest piqued the entire time. The explosive ending left me wanting more, which I believe could happen in the way the ending was written. I would highly recommend this captivating thriller. I can't wait for her next masterpiece!

Still grieving the loss of her husband John in a freak hunting accident, Cameron Prescott is shocked to learn that his career as a successful criminal defense attorney had masked his identity as a serial killer. John was identified as The Teacher Killer after his death and with Cameron’s help. However, the police, the public and the press all believe that Cameron knew of John’s involvement and had probably helped him. Desperate to understand how she could have been so mistaken, she begins The Final Hunt. She is convinced that John is still alive and that only she will be able to track him down. Will she? Or will she be his final victim?

The Final Hunt is an exciting, fast-paced read, exactly what you expect from Audrey Cole. The vast Alaskan wilderness becomes an important part of the plot as does the weather and animal behavior (thank you, Valerie). Cameron is a strong character and her developing relationship with Dane adds romance to this suspenseful thriller. 5 stars.

Thank you to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and Audrey J. Cole for this ARC.

Thank you BooksGoSocial and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book in advance.

NBD guys but I took the leap considering there are ZERO reviews on Goodreads.

THE PLOT

Cameron's husband died in a bear attack. One day she's grieving, the next day she finds his serial killer trophy photos. Cool cool cool *Jake Perralta voice*. As the case into her husband's devious activities unravel, Cameron is on the hunt to see if her husband is really as dead as they say.

MY OPINNI

I literally blitzed through this in one evening. It was an easy read. Now, was this book a piece of literary genius? No. But did it hold my attention the entire time? Yes. Was the ending very obvious and easy to guess? Yes. But it was still entertaining enough that I kept reading... I didn't really care if there was much "shock value." It's hard to explain, but sometimes the lack of shock bothers me because the book is taking itself TOO seriously and holding back way too much info and the characters are wilding. But even though the mystery wasn't very mysterious, the other redeeming qualities of the book made it enjoyable. I'm not sure if that makes sense LOL.

If you expect to be blown off your feet by a big reveal, pass on this one.

Ok... now this may sound weird, but some of the book was cute. LOL. This book was like half psychological thriller and half Nicolas Sparks book, and I ain't mad about it. It was unrealistic and the romance between characters did make me roll my eyes, but it's all lighthearted. I think the difference between this and a book like Unmissing, which is equally unrealistic and cheesy, is none of the POVs are annoying AF for no reason. Cameron is part grieving wife, part angry, part baddie on a mission. Tanner, the investigating detective is straightforward guy who doesn't rustle any feathers. He's kind of like oatmeal.

I liked the premise of this novel. I took a chance despite ZERO reviews because 1) I'm tired of misleading 5 star reviews when the book actually sucks and 2) it uses one of my fave POVs: woman unknowingly married to serial killer.

I actually think it would make a great movie or Netflix series. There's a lot of potential and entertainment value with this book. And the setting would be beautiful. It really has a bit of everything. I can just picture the final scene now...

The writing quality was fine. Didn't bother me and it was well-paced. Compact chapters that kept the storyline moving. A nice read for a chilly winter night. Solid 3 stars. The Honda Civic of mystery thrillers.

PROS AND CONS:

Pros: Interesting premise and POV, well-paced, weirdly cute
Cons: Obvious ending, no real mystery or big reveal (I didn't mind though, but I know this is very important to some people)
