Obsessed!!! I was completely hooked from the start. I love the writing style, ot keeps on ticking forwards without too much filler dialogue or description. The whole concept was really modern and now and I loved that and that it was quite an original story line. It had a sense of realism and the characters are so true to life that you can easily see them making these choices in real life! There's nothing obvious about the motive or ending and it kept me guessing throughout. There also isn't any cheap "shock value" to try and get the reader interested by absolutely horrifying them, it keeps you interested by being an amazingly well written and captivating thriller with true to life characters who you can really either relate to or at least see them making the choices they made! I also liked that it's not too deep...... it is what it is, a really well thought out thriller and it doesn't try to catch all the genres or squeeze all the traumas that it can squeeze into its pages! Definitely recommend, this would be the perfect summer read with a nice cold drink in the sun!!

The premise sounded good but did not live up to expectations The story just didn't get off the ground . The character of Maggie was not likeable. Just not for me. Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the chance to review it.
I really enjoyed this book it was so current in a world where influencers are everywhere. The story was interesting, it was well wriiten and i detested some of the characters. I loved the setting and I didn't see the twists coming, A good read.
What happens when you put a bunch of vain influencers on a boat? Murder…apparently. This is a fun little book. It doesn’t take itself too seriously. The influencers are all vapid and caricatures of what we normally expect when we hear that word. The main character is a crime blogger who is completely unqualified to solve a crime and yet, tries to anyway. If you expect this book to be about a professional solving a crime, you will be disappointed. If you accept that this is a wannabe influencer solving a crime, you’ll enjoy the book more. I gave it 3.5 stars. Thanks for the advance review copy.
The Influencers was a quite enjoyable thriller with an unpredictable ending. Maggie is a true crime blogger and, after a suspicious death at an awards event she was attending, finds herself investigating the murder of a popular social media influencer. The book is fast-paced with loads of unreliable characters, including the narrator. I definitely wasn't able to predict the ending, which is always nice when reading a thriller/mystery. I feel like this would be the perfect beach read!
Really enjoyable read with an unexpected twist at the end. This is a book I can imagine being one you take with you to the beach and escaping into the world of influencers
True crime blogger Maggie Shaw is excited to be invited to the Influencer of the Year awards that is held on a glamorous yacht. At the end of the night popular influencer Stella Knight Is dead. Maggie tries to follow the clues and ferret out the murderer. This was a page turning thriller I read in one sitting. Lots of red herrings and twists and turns with a surprise ending.
Thank you Canelo, Netgalley, and S.V. Leonard for my gifted copy!
Synopsis:
For True-Crime blogger Maggie, being invited to the Influencer Of The Year awards is a huge deal. Even more so, when the winner, famous influencer Stella, is killed, Maggie makes it her goal to find out who did it - because Stella had a lot of enemies. And all of them were there that night ...
My opinion:
I AM OBSESSED! This was SO good, I read it in one sitting. I really loved the drama and the shallow but well-crafted characters and accompanying Maggie's investigations was so much fun! Honestly, I don't like the term "Popcorn thriller", but that's exactly what "The Influencers" is - in the best way possible. Well, I've got to say that you have to stretch your belief a bit for this book because a blogger investigating on their own and being told stuff just isn't that plausible. BUT the ending made up for it all - it was just great!
Parts of this book reminded me of:
- Any Agatha Christie, really
- A Good Girl's Guide To Murder by Holly Jackson
This was my first book by this author, and it won't be my last.
The premise had me so excited to read The Influencers. However, this story just didn't get off the ground. Between Maggie constantly putting herself down and her inexplicable need to insert herself into Stella's private business, I had trouble rooting for her. The relationship between the characters also felt off — they were either too snobby or too overly familiar. Ultimately, I was really underwhelmed and disinterested.
A thrilling, glossy, and super fun thriller. The pacing was spot on and it was very engaging. I loved all the different characters and the way the author integrates them. Definitely see this being a popular summer book.
Also... THAT ENDING!!!!
This was my first book by this author and whilst I found it a little underwhelming, it had a brilliant ending which I had a slight suspicion about during the course of the novel.
Maggie is a budding crime podcaster looking to increase her followers and influence. So when she is invited to the Influencer of the Year Awards, it is the ideal opportunity to gain more followers and pick up tips from the rich and famous.
The awards take a sinister turn however when Stella, the most popular influencer on board the luxury yacht, is found dead and a murder investigation is launched. What better for a budding true crime podcaster???
Maggie inserts herself into the investigation and unearths a number of secrets than many people want to keep hidden. Who murdered Stella and most importantly, why?
The premise of the novel certainly got me interested and it was a good effort from the author. The issue of fame and influence is very much of our time and it was an intriguing novel.
The ending certainly raised it up a notch and was a brilliantly conceived conclusion.
Thanks to Netgalley and Canelo for an ARC in exchange for an honest review.
Glamorous and seductive, The Influencers is a classic whodunit with a brilliant twist. Pure escapism, I loved it.
The premise of this book was interesting - a popular influencer is murdered at an Influencer of the Year awards ceremony, and there's lots of people with a motive. However, I thought this book was underwhelming. I found the characters to be unlikeable and lacking in depth. Maggie inserts herself into the investigation of Stella's death, but she has no investigative skills, and it just frustrated me. While I didn't guess the ending, for me, it fell flat. This book just wasn't for me, which is fine - you can't like every book in a favourite genre, just like an author can't write a book that pleases everyone. I wish S. V. Leonard all the best with the release of this book.
I loved this book, what a brilliant plot! And I really wasn’t expecting the killer to be who it was, wow! Anybody who loves a good whodunnit thriller will absolutely devour this.
This ARC was provided to me via Kindle, Canelo and by #NetGalley. Opinions expressed are completely my own.
A chilling thriller with a solid storyline.

I loved this one. Very fast paced, had me turning pages as I tore through it – I had to see how it would end. The characters were well rounded and the narrative felt believable. Gave me chills. Solid five
I loved S. V. Leonard's The Islanders
When I seen this cover for The Influencers I needed it right then and there.
An addictive, mysterious thriller which keeps you gripped right until the last page!
The book was fast paced and had all the right amounts of suspense.
I did not want to stop turning the pages to find out.
This is one of those you must read especially if this is your favourite genre its so well put together that I commend the author.
With plenty of drama, chaos and secrets THE INFLUENCERS is One phenomenal read.
Her descriptions were impressive I was transported there, experiencing the these things along side them.
Wonderful, twisty, exciting and full of suspense. I couldn't recommend this story enough.
Canelo,
Thank You for this eARC!
I will post to my platform's closer to pub date.
I absolutely love this sundrenched thriller! A collection of social media stars go on a trip and one ends up dead. An updated classic whodunit! I spent the entire book trying to figure out the mystery and was highly entertained.
A Glossy Sheen…
The line between reality and the superficial, glossy sheen of influencer social media platforms is indeed a very fine one in this fast moving psychological suspense where nothing is as it seems. A glamorous but slow burn start at the ‘Influencer of The Year Awards’ aboard a luxury yacht on the Thames moves swiftly to murder. As the storyline rapidly picks up pace and interest, often unseen dark and tragic sides of social media are exposed, twists and red herrings abound leading to a, perhaps, unexpected but dramatic denouement and a surprising aftermath. A one sit, immersive and thoroughly entertaining read.
