This was the first time I read a David Rosenthal book. It was a little bit too much detail for me. I know people are big fans and it seems like there would be repeat plot in his other works

Quick easy read that’s gives both humor and mystery. I love Corey and Laurie I find them fun private investigators. David Rosenfelt always has likable characters that are not overly complicated and the titles are always fun. As a dog lover Simon instantly had my heart. Overall I think I like the K-9 series better than the Andy Carpenter series. Definitely want to read more in this series

This author never disappoints. I have read all his books and I Love every one of them. I like that the dogs are included in all of them but above that I really appreciate that the same people are one the team and it is like you are right there with them.

Corey Douglas is a retired police officer as is Simon Garfunkel, a his former K-9 partner. They team up with Laurie and Marcus to form an investigation firm called The K Team. Laurie is married to Andy, a retired criminal defense lawyer, and she and Marcus do investigative work for Andy. Laurie is also a former police officer and Marcus has "persuasive" reasoning skills and provides protection when it's most needed. Sam is Andy's accountant who is also a computer hack. Corey, as a retired police office, used to have an issue with how Sam gets his information but he has changed his mind now that he seems how much faster Sam can access it.

There have been some budget cuts in the Paterson Police Department but they still have money to hire consultants. Preferring to use it rather than lose it, the K Team are hired to investigate a cold case. Seven years ago at Laurie and Corey's high school reunion, Chris and Kim walked out the door and were never seen again. No one could figure out a connection between them. Did they even know each other and had run off together? Were they killed and if so, why? If the police couldn't solve this mystery seven years ago when everything was fresh, can the K Team?

There have been 24 books so far in the Andy Carpenter series and I've read them all ... this is the third in the K Team spin-off series. Though it is part of a series, it can be read as a stand alone as there is enough background provided.

I liked this book. I like the writing style of this author as it was funny, sarcastic and amusing. It was written mostly in first person perspective in Corey's voice but is sometimes in third person perspective when the focus is on others.

Wow! This series, is sooooo good I was late in getting to it but I wanted to listen to it so bad I purchased it and it didn’t disappoint . Corey has developed into a fantastic MC who makes a strong and believe-able investigator.

The rest of the characters are also very well developed and I enjoyed listening to his girlfriend, Dani great dynamics there.

This had a great storyline with lots of twists and turns. The characterizations of the amazing dogs is spot on and deeply endearing. Definitely a satisfying listen or read!! I Obviously, highly recommend it!

Citizen K-9 is the 3rd book in the K Team series, which is a spin-off of the Andy Carpenter series. The series is a mystery with a good amount of humor. I enjoyed getting to know the familiar characters better as they work together to solve a cold case in connection with the Patterson Police Department.

Thank you to the Minotaur Books and to Net Galley for providing me with an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I enjoy this author and the characters in this spin-off series. My Rating: 4.25 of 5.0 Overall; Story 4.25; Narration 4.25.

The K Team consists of characters from the original Andy Carpenter legal mystery series. The Team includes Andy’s wife and former cop, Laurie, bodyguard/bouncer, Marcus, and former officer Corey and his K-9 partner, German shepherd Simon Garfunkel. The team is hired by the Paterson Police Department to work on cold cases. The K Team chose a case that involved the disappearance of two people, Chris Vogel and Kim Baskin from the 10th class reunion.

The team backtracks to interviews and evidence (or lack thereof) from the events 10 years ago. They find little connection between Chris and Kim but they discover that Chris was selling drugs for one of the local drug lords. Corey’s probing leads him to a local professor who specializes in statistical predictions. They also meet a menacing messenger, probable killer named Z who may be connected to Escobar. As the investigation moves forward it appears that someone is attempting to manipulate the investigation paths.

The investigation moves along quickly and, as always, I enjoy the interaction among the characters. Corey continues his rather snarky attitude and there is a very fun twist with Marcus that made me chuckle. I also enjoyed the caring relationship growing between Corey and his romantic interest, Dani. I recommend this story, the series, and the original series (Andy Carpenter), to readers who enjoy investigation mysteries with humor and dogs.

Audio Notes: Fred Berman does a good job with the narration. It took only a few minutes for me to remember that this series has a different narrator than the Carpenter series. Although I still hear Andy’s voice in the other narrator tones, Berman gives distinct life to Corey and the associate characters. The narration enhanced my enjoyment of the story.

I always enjoy David Rosenfelt’s books. The cast of characters is familiar and comfortable. Two classmates of Laurie’s disappeared after their 10 year reunion. The K-9 team is looking into this cold case. Every member of the team, including Simon Garfunkel, the dog, are competent and do their jobs well. This is a quick read, not a cozy, but enjoyable. Recommended.

Being a huge fan of David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series, checking out this 3rd installment in his new K Team series was a no-brainer for me, even though I'd been unaware of it previously. As a spin-off of Andy Carpenter, there are lots of familiar names and locations here, so in that way it was easy enough to jump in to this series at book 3. And while the tone is a bit different (as it should be since the first-person narration is from a different character), the heart and humor is still there. And yes, the dogs are there as well.
This is a book about a series of friends and colleagues who've formed a private investigation service. They connected to do investigations for Andy Carpenter, but he's notorious for avoiding clients whenever possible, so they've branched out into taking on other clients. In this instance, they're hired by the Paterson Police Department to investigate the disappearance of high school classmates of two of the team members 10 years prior, on the night of their 10-year high school reunion. The deeper they get into the investigation, the more they realize that while the disappearance had never seemed to make sense, there was something much darker behind it than anyone had ever expected.
There's everything I've come to expect from David Rosenfelt in this book - a good mystery, interesting characters, locations that feel real, humor, heart, and a love of dogs. I listened to the audiobook and while it was a jolt at first to not hear the usual fabulous narrating voice for the Andy Carpenter audiobooks, Fred Berman did an excellent job narrating this one, and I quickly acclimated to his voice + Rosenfelt's style. And I can't wait to go back and listen to the other K Team books.

Didn't get to it before it was archived. Sorry, Giving feedback based solely on the cover and my own ineptitude. I apologize for my lack of focus. I'm working on me. I may have gone a little request-crazy once I discovered this platform. My bad.

This was my first David Rosenfelt K Team book and will definitely not be my last. I will be going back to read the first 2. I enjoyed the main Characters and hope that Corey, Simon and Laurie are in all future books.

I've been a huge fan of Rosenfelt's for years- but this is actually the first time that I have listened to the audio version of one of his fictional books. I always read them to share my copy with my dad, who is as big of a Rosenfelt fan as I am. But, when I got the chance to listen to this one, I decided to give it a whirl! And I really enjoyed listening! Rosenfelt's characteristic humor had me laughing out loud as I listened while getting some things done around the house. The performer perfectly hit the right notes with the humor and the banter. I really enjoyed listening - though since Rosenfelt's chapters aren't numbered, it would have been difficult to switch between the audio and another format.

As for the mystery itself, the detective group is hired by the police department to consult on cold cases. They start with the disappearance of two people from a high school reunion a number of years earlier. As they work the case, it seems to spring it all back to life, with threats, more bodies and plenty of excitement. It's a quick and entertaining listen. I was always eager to get back to listening (if it did mean folding laundry) and greatly enjoyed seeing all of these familiar characters. I do prefer the Andy Carpenter series to this one (I like the courtroom drama), but I do thoroughly enjoy this series as well. The plot especially takes some surprising turns. It was fun to see Marcus in a new light here, too. And always, I enjoyed seeing the love of dogs that shines through each and everyone of Rosenfelt's books. He's a talented author and definitely one of my favorites! I especially appreciate what a prolific writer that he is with each year at least two and sometimes three books coming out! I always finish them quickly and am always eager for the next one!

I have read one David Rosenfelt book before this one and quite enjoyed it. This is my first K-team novel. I found this to be a slow book and at times I feel like checked out from the audiobook. This is because I was not being drawn into the story. It had a good premise but it felt a bit dragged out for me.

I am also confused as to what really happened in the story and why it is called Citizen K-9. I felt like the German Shepard, Simon Garfunkel, of Corey Douglas's was under utilized in the story. To be honest, I actually forgot that there was a dog in the story named Simon. Andy Carpenter, who is a lawyer and was the primary character in the first David Rosenfelt book read is connected with a dog shelter and when I heard Andy's name that is when I first thought about dogs. Other than that, the thought of a dog did not really cross my mind until the very end.

It is at the very end of the story that David Rosenfelt ahs Corey Douglas recap the events of the story and it seems like Simon may have had a part near the end when t comes to possibly protecting Core's romantic partner. I think I missed it though because I found the story not to be engaging again.

I also managed to get some of the characters at times. found myself often confusing Corey's romantic partner, Danny, with his private investigator partner Laurie.

As far as the narration goes, it took me a while to get into Fred Berman. I thought that Fred did a good job on the accents and the changing of voices for male versus female characters. At first, I was not fond of Fred's reading but after some time went on I found that it grew on me.

Rating: 3 out of 5 stars because I found myself checking out of the story multiple times. I liked the premise of the book but felt like it was dragged on and the title of the book didn't really make sense to me in regard to how the story played out.

I will certainly be checking out more David Rosenfelt books though. I certainly would consider myself one of his new reading fans.

Yes, this is a spin-off of one of my favorite series, Andy Carpenter, so I was a bit wary of anything that didn’t include the wise-ass attorney. However, I tried the K-Team because a number of the characters that are included in the Andy Carpenter series are featured in this one.

But it is not Andy Carpenter by any other name.

Corey works with Laurie, also a retired cop, and Laurie also happens to be Andy’s wife, so you know you’ll get cameo visits from attorney Andy Carpenter.

The K Team works with the Paterson NJ police using their consultant funds to work on cold cases. This cold case involves two former classmates of Laurie’s, both disappearing after a high school reunion almost ten years ago.

I have lost the snarky, sarcastic wise-cracking Andy Carpenter, but I must say, Corey is growing on me despite his quirky personality. And, he may have a steady girl now—enter a budding romance.

You may wish to go back to Book 1 just to get that intro to Corey. These are complex mysteries with easy, fast, and engaging plots. I really enjoy Fred Berman’s voice as Corey, he does a great job on the audiobook.

The first three K-9s are engaging and entertaining and can be read as standalones. This one just released and I urge you to check it out.

I really enjoy David Rosenfeldt books. This was an of shoot of the Andy Carpenter series, with some of the same characters, but it didn't involve a trial. His stories keep you guessing, and they aren't filled with graphic killing etc. I've never been big on nude mysteries, but I love these books.
I listened to an audio version that I recieved from Netgalley.

Citizen K-9 (A K Team Novel) by David Rosenfelt
Narrated by Fred Berman
Publisher: Macmillan Audio
Genre: Mystery & Thrillers
Published: March 15, 2022

Citizen K-9 is the third book in the K Team series by David Rosenfelt. The K Team series is a spin off of the Andy Carpenter series and contains a lot of the same characters. This was the first book I read in the K Team series and thought it worked wonderfully as a standalone mystery!

The narration by Fred Berman was great! He does a great job bringing each character to life!

I really enjoyed this book! It moved quickly and the plot was well developed and kept me on the edge of my seat! I enjoyed hearing from characters from the Andy Carpenter series, but from a different perspective, throughout the book. It made it feel familiar, yet new at the same time.

If you enjoy a good mystery, you should definitely check this one out! The private investigative team has been asked to work on a cold case for the local police department and it is definitely a wild ride! I enjoy how the author keeps things light with the appropriate amount of humor and sarcasm!

I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

David Rosenfelt usually writes about lawyer Andy Carpenter. This series mentions Andy and features Laurie and Marcus but the main character is recently retired officer Corey Douglas and his K-9 partner Simon Garfunkel. Courey works with Laurie and Marcus and their team to solve cold cases for the Paterson, NJ Police Department. This case involves the disappearance of 2 people from a class reunion a decade before. We see Mr Rosenfelt's usual humor but Corey is not as snarky as Andy. We also see a side of Marcus Andy doesn't see. He even talks! With Corey's sound police work combined with Laurie's teams usual methods equals an interesting case. I received a copy of this audiobook from NetGalley. I hope to see more of Corey and Simon. I love David Rosenfelt's use of dogs in his books. As a dog rescuer he always gives them a starring role.

In the book Citizen K-9, author David Rosenfelt continues his new series K Team. The K Team has been recruited by the Paterson Police Department to look into cold cases. The K Team is made up of retired Paterson cop Corey Douglas and his K-9 partner, German shepherd Simon Garfunkel, former cop Laurie Collins, and tough guy Marcus Clark. For their first cold case, Laurie wants to look into the disappearance of two former class mates. They were at their 10th high school reunion when the two simply disappeared, never to be seen or heard from again. And the police have no leads.
This was a great fun story. This is the third book in the series and is my favorite. And Marcus TALKS!! That was a twist! The audio-book narration was very good. I would recommend this book and the series. I received a copy of this audio-book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
