Thanks to the publisher Macmillan Audio, and the author for a chance to read this book through #netgalley and honestly review it

I came into this book just knowing what the title told me. A police procedural with a dog handler as the main part of the story. I was surprised to find that the story was about a cold case division of the police who hired the k team of PI's to help with a cold case related to the group.

I was very happy I read this book which is the 3rd in the series. Although there was enough of the story to let me in on what might have come before, it stood alone well. The mystery was intriguing and there were several twists that kept me guessing. It moved at a good pace and was an easy afternoon read for me. I will be seeking out more from this author.

I enjoyed this quick and engaging mystery novel a lot.
I love mysteries for their escapist qualities, there are clear good guys and bad guys, the case gets solved and the good guys get to eat pizza (at least in this book …) and there is even a cute dog to go with it. I had read David Rosenfeld before but I had not read the first two books in this Andy Carpenter- spin off series, but I do plan to go back and read them now since this one was very well done.
The main character retired cop Corey has a lovable German sheperd ex service dog named Simon. They and their team (including Andy Carpenter’s wife Laurie) have been hired by the police department to help investigate cold cases. The cold case had two people without any obvious connection disappear together after a high school reunion. It’s up to the team to go back through the old material, reinterview witnesses and figure out whether there was a crime and what or who made these people disappear.

The book has some twists and turns. There is humor and banter. The mystery was very well plotted – enough avenues to pursue to make investigating worthwile and keep the reader hooked and not too many, so it did not get confusing. Overall the writing is good, reliable and fun. The narrator also did a great job with this book – especially the sardonic asides.
Thanks to @netgalley , @macmillan.audio , and @minotaur_books for the advanced audio copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!

I love anything by David Rosenfelt. Now that I have confessed that, I will say that until this book, the K Team series was not my favorite. When I read the first two K Team books, I had a hard time separating them from the Andy Carpenter series but listening to this one was the solution. The reader was perfect as the voice of Corey Douglas and I finally had the separation I needed to really enjoy this story. The main characters are wonderful old friends from the Andy Carpenter stories and the carry-over works very well in this series. The K Team is taking on cold cases from the Paterson Police Department and their first is to find out who murdered a man and a woman who left together from a high school reunion. They just happened to be classmates of Corey's. The mystery was intriguing and there were some good plot twists at the end. I recommend this addition to Rosenfelt's K Team series as an audiobook but if you can't listen, at least read it! I give it 4 1/2 stars.

Reading this book is like visiting old friends. Andy, Laurie, and the investigative team are all here. Cory is the narrator this time, but this story is in the same witty style that we have come to expect from this author. There is tension, dead bodies, and things blowing up. The team copes with it all and manages to close a cold case and take down organized crime bosses as well. The dialog is fast and funny and thoughtful. This is a fun read.

3.5 stars

In preparation for reading this third installment in a series, I read the first installment just two weeks before. The second installment wasn't available for me to borrow in advance of reading this one. It doesn't matter—Rosenfelt gives enough background information to allow this book to stand alone.

I liked this installment more than the first. It's funnier, more sarcastic (if memory serves), has a more interesting mystery, and includes more appearances by Simon. There are quite a few characters, making it fun to guess who is really involved and who is a red herring. I like the relationships among the team members (Corey, Laurie, and Marcus), and with their extended colleagues and their respective romantic partners.

Based on this book, I am considering not only reading the second installment in this series, but also reading more of Rosenfelt's work (including a series in which Laurie's husband—a lawyer—is the main character).

Thank you, NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and Minotaur Books, for the audio ARC of the book in exchange for an honest review. Publication is expected March 15.

I really enjoyed this police procedural/mystery audiobook. I have not read the first two books in the series, but I plan to go back and read them after finishing this book. This book was a good standalone and I didn't feel like I was missing out on any pertinent information by not having read the first two novels. I immediately recognized the narrator and I know that added to the enjoyment of listening to this book. Fred Berman has such a distinct voice and he is now officially Retired Detective Corey Douglas who solves cold cases with his K-9 partner, German shepherd Simon Garfunkel in my mind!

I didn't notice this wasn't part of the Andy Carpenter series, in fact, I didn't know the author wrote anything but Andy Carpenter. The narrator was different, so it knocked me out of my rut.

This was a refreshing change. It had some of the same characters, including Marcus, but didn't had a different main character. He is an investigator with Laurie, Marcus and the rest of the gang. It was a nice break from "my dog, Tata, is the best dog ever", but still had some of the wit (not quite as much) as other books I have read/listened to from this author.

Plot-wise, I listened to this a week ago and couldn't tell you a thing about it. It is light, funny and a perfect companion to boring chores or long rides. If you like other Rosenfelt books, you will like this.

I'm a long time fan of Rosenfelt so I jumped at the chance to listen to the audiobook from NetGalley.

This one surprised me. In most Rosenfelt books there is a pretty straightforward (if fun and comforting) formula. Someone is wrongly accused of a crime. There is a dog angle. There is a court case and the real bad guy is unveiled.

With the K Team series focusing on the investigators, they don't necessarily have to follow this formula, but they have. This one is different, it is all investigation and also there is a surprising amount of action for the generally cozy series. It's also markedly darker than a lot of Rosenfelt books.

But it worked for me from start to finish. It's just the sort of reset the series needs to keep it from becoming too rote.

That said, you get all the fun of Rosenfelt including some laugh out loud revelations about Marcus. Highly recommended.

Thank you to @minotaur_books @netgalley for an ALC of this fun mystery. This is book 3 of this series and I read this out of order and didn’t feel lost.

I enjoyed the K Team and their resourcefulness on solving the cold cases from the police department. This book had lots of action and kept me interested. I liked how the 2 missing people also went to high school with Corey and this made the case so much more personal.

I started listening to this book and before I knew it it was over. Thoroughly enjoyable. This is the third book of this series. I did not read the first two so now I am going to go back and listen to those. The narrator did a good job with all of the different voices of all of the characters. I highly recommend this and am thankful to NetGalley and MacMillan audio for this advanced copy in exchange for my honest review.

I loved this story about investigators Corey and Laurie. Simon is Corey’s German Shepard and what a great help he is !
The two investigators and their team are hired by the Patterson Police to solve a cold case. It happened seven years ago , a double murder of two classmates of Corey’s who were murdered after leaving their class reunion.
There is a lot of humor in the story and cop banter. I loved the comedy and the mystery was interesting without getting too bogged with too many characters.
This was book 3 in a series. I’d never read anything by this author before and it worked well as a stand alone book. I’ll look for more in this series. Thank you NetGalley and Bookoutre for the opportunity to help in exchange for my honest review.

I was so excited to see that David Rosenfelt created a spin-off series from his Andy Carpenter Mysteries. Of course being the dog lover that he is, he named it after the K-9 squad in the Carpenter series - K Team Mysteries.

The K Team series is off to a fantastic start with Citizen K-9. Retired detectives Corey Douglas & Laurie Collins are hired to head up the new Cold Case Division of the Patterson Police Department. Partnering up with Andy Carpenter's wife Laurie, assures there will be some fun cameos from the reluctant semi retired lawyer Andy in the series.

Corey and Laurie are trying to solve the case of high school friends who went missing 10 years ago from their reunion. They are presumed dead and Corey is determined to solve the case to give closure to one of the missing friend’s elderly mother. But solving it won't be that easy as deadly interference comes from many places...

I really enjoyed the banter between the characters which is part of Rosenfelt's signature style - a little humor mixed with murder and of course, adorable dogs that help solve the crimes.

While the mystery will have you guessing to the end- whodunit, it's Corey's character that I found most engaging. He has that New Jersey no nonsense sensibility and sarcastic humor that you would expect from a cop that has been on the force for over 20 years. He's smart, quick and determined to solve every cold case in the department's backlog.

The narration is solely from Corey's POV and he is quite entertaining and insightful. You get to hear his process and wit throughout the book. He could easily be a cop on Law And Order. (RIP Detective Briscoe)🥲

Citizen K-9 is a fun, entertaining mystery and a worthy spin-off of the Andy Carpenter Mysteries. I can't wait to read the next K Team Mystery

We are back in Patterson, NJ, and the Police Dept has developed a new team of investigators they are calling the K Team. It consists for two former police officers and an investigator, or and don't forget Simon Garfunkel the retired German Shepherd canine officer who can be very helpful when needed. Their next assignment is a cold case from a high school reunion from 10 years ago where two people disappeared. No clues, plenty of suspects, and now someone is trying to keep them from finding out what happened. This was a quick listen and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

CITIZEN K-9 is the third installment in a relatively new series by David Rosenfelt, called the "K Team" (a spinoff of his Andy Carpenter series). The books so far follow Corey Douglas, a retired cop, and Simon Garfunkel, a German Shepherd and retired police dog. The other members of the K Team are Marcus (the muscle) and Laurie (another former cop and Andy's wife). Each book is a stand alone (though I admittedly waited to read this one before I could catch up in the series).

The book opens with the Paterson Police Department hiring the K Team to lead a new cold case division. Together, they choose an unsolved case to investigate: two people went missing at Corey's 15-year high school reunion seven years ago.

While the team is investigating cold case (they believe to be murders) and there is on the page violence as they work, I'd describe CITIZEN K-9 as more of a cozy than a thriller. My grandmother and I read The Cat Who... books together; I wouldn't hesitate to pass this one along to her. Simon is the real hero, exactly as he should be.

The narrator seems well suited to voicing Corey's perspective. I can't quite put my finger on whether these books are better read with your eyes or your ears, but maybe that just means you can't go wrong either way.

This book was so good! I loved all the characters and their relationship with their dogs! It was my first book by this author and I didn't begin the series at the start, I just jumped in with this book. I am now going to have to read all the books in this series and hope that he has other books out there!! I will definitely read anything that he writes. And I hope for more books in this series and that he writes them quickly!

Listening to Citizen K-9 was like getting reacquainted with an old friend or friends, in this case. The wonderful characters we came to love in the Andy Carpenter series and the spin-off K-9 series return in all their glory including a really BIG Marcus surprise. Corey and Simon Garfunkel accept a job working on a cold case and lead us through twists and turns until the final chapters. This is a good afternoon read and fans of David Rosenfelt will not be disappointed. Thank you NetGalley for the advance copy.

Citizen K-9 by David Rosenfelt pulled me in from the very beginning. I have been a fan of the author and enjoy his well plotted stories. Citizen K-9 is no exception. I loved how they came together to solve the mystery. I could envision so many details. Fred Berman performs the book flawlessly. He adds the right emotions and expressions to his voice. The humor was and added bonus. Thank you #NetGalley and #Macmillan Audio for allowing me to listen and review. I really enjoyed this bookhttps://www.bookbub.com/books/citizen-k-9-by-david-rosenfelt

This is my first time listening to a audiobook by David Rosenfelt and I really enjoyed being read to by Fred Berman. I have been reading mystery books by David Rosenfelt for many years and I am an avid reader of all his book series. I particularly like this newer series by David Rosenfelt, the K team novel series, which is called Citizen K-9 and listening to this audiobook is now my favourite way to enjoy this series. Corey, Simon, Laurie and Marcus are back solving a cold case for Pete. They are assisted by Andy Carpenter and Sam Willis. I forgot that Corey’s girlfriend Danny also helps with the case and learn new developments regarding Danny and Marcus that will surprise you. This mystery book takes many twists and turns throughout the book and will keep you guessing right until the end. For me it was a very satisfying end to the case and look forward to the K-team's next case. Bravo David Rosenfelt and thanks for opening me up to reading, actually listening to audiobooks in the future.🇨🇦🥰👍👏🤗🐕

Citizen K-9 (A K Team Novel) by David Rosenfelt and narrated by Fred Berman.

I usually like David Rosenfelt's books. Maybe it was the narrator, as it made Cory (the main character) sound quite arrogant and hard to like. The audio seemed to enhance his demeanor and arrogance. The story/mystery of the missing two former classmates was good. There did seem to be a lot of characters to keep track of. And listening via audio did not allow me to flip back pages and re-read who some of those characters were and how they related to the story. The writing was satisfactory, with no extraneous information to pull me out of the action. I wish Simon (the dog) had more of a storyline. I also liked the Laurie character. The ending wrapped up just okay, and it was satisfying and believable. It was sad when the family finally knew what had happened to their loved ones. I would give this book a 3.5 out of 5 stars.

I will read more from David Rosenfelt if given the opportunity and his other series. I really like the cover!

I think I am beginning to prefer this spin-off to the original series which is getting a bit stale for me. The premise of these murders was kind of ridiculous but who cares! It was short and very entertaining with a big surprise about Marcus which was pretty funny. I love the K Team and look forward to more.
The narrator was excellent as always.
