I have been a David Rosenfelt fan from the beginning of his first series! And this is one of the best spin-off series I’ve read. While this isn’t my favorite of the K-Team I did enjoy it.
Corey, Laurie, Marcus and Simon are invited by Pete Stanton to pick a cold case to investigate. They pick one that is personal to Corey. 2 classmates disappeared 7 years ago after leaving their class reunion.
The narrator did an excellent job as the tough ex-cop turned PI. Though because I’ve read almost all of the other books I had voices in my head for characters and wasn’t a fan of his rendition of Andy or Laurie.
Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for allowing me to listen to and review this book.
I really enjoyed this quick mystery novel. I have not yet read the first two books in the series, but I do do plan to go back and read them after finishing this book. The main character Corey has a lovable GSD named Simon. They are both retired from the police force. They have been hired by the police department to help investigate a cold case that turns out is personal for another member of the investigation team, Laurie. Due to this fact, we learn a little about their past. I really enjoy the relationship between Corey and Simon. They are a great pair.
The mystery has some twists and turns. Throughout the investigation we are introduced to a lot of characters that can sometimes make keeping track of everyone a bit complicated. The end is tied up nicely. Overall the writing is good. The narrator also did a good job with this book. I would give this a solid 4 stars. Thanks to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and Minotaur Books for the advanced audio copy of this book in exchange for my honest review!
Another great David Rosenfelt mystery. Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
Corey Douglas and his K-9 partner, German shepherd Simon Garfunkel, recently retired from the police force. They are now part of a team of private investigators known as the K-Team looking to solve cold case crimes.
Laurie Collins, a former cop, is also an integral part of this team. The case their client wants them to solve hits close to home, for it was at Laurie's 10th high school reunion, that two of their friends went missing from a car. No one knows what happened, or even if they are dead or alive.
There's lots of characters in this book, and at first, I was getting a little confused as to who was who. But the ending ties it up in a nice neat bow with a great twist I didn't see coming.
As a Private Investigator-former cop, Corey Douglas is a mixture of tough and intelligent, like Sam Spade, Philip Marlow, and Jake Gittes. He don't beat around the bush, he's not intimidated, and is as cool as a cucumber when threatened personally. Just don't mess with his dog or his lady... no, that's not good. His feelings are sweet and protective of his lady.
I had the privilege of listening to the audiobook version of Citizen K-9, narrated by Fred Berman. Mr. Berman is absolutely believable as a hard boiled P.I., and the audiobook is a fantastic way to enjoy this series. I have enjoyed all of them.
Thank you to NetGalley, Macmillan Audio, and David Rosenfelt for the opportunity to have a AAC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.
