Definitely made me interested in reading the full book at some stage but I'm not sure that it would be a new favourite book.

This dynamic and the workplace setting make for an interesting back drop for a queer love story. Very interested to see how the characters develop in the rest of the story. This is series I will continue to look forward to.

Doesn't seem to be much plot but I like their personality and seems cute. I liked the writing style. I'm excited to see how character development will play out in this book.

*Although this review is supposed to be for the first 5 chapters, I did finish the whole book.

Amy is a restaurant owner and trying desperately to keep her business open. Can she stop micromanaging and making decisions for everyone long enough to accept their help?

Sophie is a reality TV cooking show star and is hoping to increase restaurant attendance from her social media profile. What she doesn’t count on is falling for her boss…. Again.

While Amy and Sophie are so drastically different - in their respective upbringings and work experience - but somehow they just work together… if only they had the self confidence in themselves to make their dreams come to fruition.

What was insanely annoying reading this book was the back and forth between the two MCs and all the doubts running through their heads; it was quite repetitive and could have been rectified by just listening to the advice given from others around them and not being stoic all the time. Amy’s background was also more developed than Sophie’s (her absentee father, her deceased mother, her twin brother, and best friend), while Sophie’s only familial mention was her mother and her ex-fiancé.

This was a decent portrayal of a blossoming first love after coming out, but the main plot line of keeping a restaurant in business was heaped in frustrations and melodrama.

This ARC was provided by the publisher, via NetGalley, in exchange for an honest review.

The first five chapters of The Romance Recipe do not disappoint. They are a strong and engaging start to the book and have me fully invested in the romance between Amy and Sophie. I would highly recommend this book to readers.

There’s pining and a lot of figuring out you your feelings going on. I’ll definitely be reading the rest of the book.

This preview definitely intrigues me to read the entire book. Just the right about of hot and steamy, turning me on in all the right ways.

This book isn't the greatest. If I had access to the whole book I would read it, but in the end, I wouldn't like it. The first few chapters were a bit rough, and it made me a little frustrated. Maybe it was the genre of the book I didn't like or maybe it was how it was written. There were facts stated within the preview that made me think that there should have been scenes issued before this fact was stated. If those wishful scenes were written maybe I would have liked the book slightly better. There were also some misalignments in the second and fourth chapter that confused me a little. It could have possibly been a typo in the wording of the sentence to forge this misalignment in facts. Overall, this book was a little mediocre. It has potential though, that is the good part and what would make me read the rest of the book. You can never really judge the whole of the book by the first few chapters.

"The Romance Recipe" by Ruby Barrett serves up a delectable dish of romance, ambition, and personal growth in the restaurant industry. With a tantalizing premise and engaging characters, this book is a satisfying read for those craving a heartwarming and emotionally charged love story.

Amy Chambers, a passionate yet control-freak restaurant owner, and Sophie Brunet, a talented but disillusioned chef, make for a dynamic and relatable pair. Their contrasting personalities and desires create an intriguing tension that forms the backbone of the narrative. Amy's determination to save her struggling restaurant and Sophie's desire to focus solely on her culinary craft set the stage for a compelling story.

The mention of a foodie TV show opportunity adds a layer of excitement and hope to the plot. It introduces a sense of urgency and high stakes, as both characters must navigate their personal and professional ambitions. The prospect of personal sacrifices and emotional growth adds depth to the story.

One of the standout elements of "The Romance Recipe" is its LGBTQ+ representation. Sophie's journey of self-discovery and coming to terms with her sexuality is handled with sensitivity and authenticity. This aspect of the story adds an extra layer of depth and relatability, making it resonate with a diverse range of readers.

The book's focus on LGBTQ+ love stories is commendable, offering a heartwarming and inclusive narrative that celebrates love in all its forms. Overall, "The Romance Recipe" promises to be a delightful and emotionally charged romance that will leave readers hungry for more. Ruby Barrett's storytelling serves up a feast of emotions and character development, making this a must-read for fans of LGBTQ+ romance.

I express my gratitude to NetGalley for granting me the opportunity to preview the initial five chapters of "The Romance Recipe." This book holds within its pages a delightful combination of sapphic recommendations, an enemies-to-lovers theme, and a forced proximity element. Additionally, it's important to take note of the content warnings and trigger warnings that are pertinent to the story. These encompass subjects such as off-page homophobia and emotional abuse stemming from parents. It's worth highlighting that these trigger warnings, which are essential for readers to be aware of, were not present in the initial epub provided.

Just... no. I have no idea why I asked for this book (I think it was an accident because whenever there's a lesbian book where one of them has short hair I always think she's a guy💀) but it's just so obviously, painfully not for me as soon as it opened it up. It's not that I hate these types of books, it's just that they're definitely not written for people like me to enjoy and relate to. Overall, I don't even know what to say but I'm definitely stupid

Mutual pining has always and ever been a good thing, especially when it comes to friends-to-lovers (...idiots-to-lovers...?) relationships. No notes.

First at all, thanks to NetGalley for give me this huge opportunity to read the preview of The Romance Recipe! ❤️

I really enjoyed it. I love sapphic romances, if you add a reality show and cooking... You earned my heart.
Maybe Amy and Sophie are a little toxic at first, but I'm completely in stories with enemies to lovers cliché. They are few chapters and it's not enough to know if you love it or not. However, I think the plot is exactly my kind of book.

I'm going to give it a chance to read the entire book and I order it right now. Judging my taste and the preview, I'm sure that it won't disappoint me.

It's hard to gauge of I liked this or not when I haven't read the complete thing.
The first few chapters were engaging enough

I had high hopes for this given the beautiful cover but unfortunatley found it quite hard to read even the first few pages. I struggled to follow what was going on and there was alot of language that didnt really flow. Strangley the first thing described about the love interest is her hair color and the second is her nipples...a bit jarring and a strange way to start given its a serious situation. Although im sure the story is good its the language that lets this one down.

I really enjoyed the excerpt that I was provided with, it even inspired me to go order the book for myself!! My only issue was that Sophie and Amy seemed a bit toxic at first? I know it was cleared up but it still bothered me a bit. I will, however, continue reading this story because it really drew me in and I'm excited to see how the rest of it pans out!! :)

(I will post an official review to my page once finished with the entire book)
