Back into the interior design world we go with Mary Kay Andrews!

As a lover of Hissy Fit, The Fixer Upper, and the Weezie and Bebe series, I was stoked to see MKA was back to her home decor ways! And, as always, there's more than just decorating. Those of us who've been reading Andrews for, literally, decades, knows there's always going to be a little mystery and a lot of romance...and The Homewreckers is no different.

I'm so happy to have Andrews back in her wheelhouse and highly recommend this to any and all old-school MKA readers. Fantastic Summer Read...something she does oh, so well.

When Hattie is asked to star in home renovation show called The Homewreckers, she jumps at the chance to save the money pit of a home she fell in love with. The house/show presents Hattie with a handful a problems - the least of which is her her male cohost/possible love interest, the biggest is a dead body.

I LOVE Mary Kay Andrews, and The Homewreckers did not disappoint. I loved the mystery storyline in this - as much as (or maybe more than) I loved the romance storyline. The audiobook was fantastic!

MKA never disappoints with any of her books! I have been a fan of hers for a long time and loved this read. This one had a lot wittiness to it as I found myself laughing quite a bit. Highly recommend!

🏠 The Homewreckers - Mary Kay Andrews

4 ⭐️ - I was pleasantly surprised by this one! I really enjoyed it! Think HGTV home make over show or the movie Money Pit with a mystery! This was fun, spunky, funny, and mysterious. I seem to be on a light but mysterious kick! Is there a genre for that?

Hattie Kavanaugh has put her hard-work, sweat, and tears into her work for as long as she can remember. When she is approached with an opportunity to star in a new HPTV (lol) show called The Homewreckers, she is hesitant to accept. She decides to put everything she had into a lemon of a house on Tybee Island. When renovations don’t go as planned and mysterious findings of a missing school teacher, Hattie worries this isn’t what she signed up for.

I was so invested in Hattie, her background, and her desire to flip houses. She goes through hardships, is strong and hard-working, and makes sure women are present in a “man’s world.” I was so invested in solving the mystery as well as hoping for Hattie’s success in the housing market and the TV show. Definitely recommend to you HGVT fans, mystery fans, and lighthearted easy read books!

I loved this book! It had so many aspects that I look for in a good read; mystery, romance, small town vibes, great character development, a kick-butt female main character, plus much more!. There were so many elements that just really worked for me with this book.

What really drew me into this story was all of the angles it had going on with it. I went in blind, and when I first started reading this book I thought it would be more of a romance novel. The main character Hattie got married young at 20, and became a widow at 25. It seemed like the story was going to follow more of her romance journey years after her husbands passing, and while it did a bit, there was so much more going on.

It was great that the book had a mystery aspect to it’s well, that tied in nicely to the home renovation tv show plot. The mystery was so captivating and really made me want to keep reading to find out what would happen next. As for the home reno tv shown aspect; as an avid watcher of these shows on HGTV, and as someone currently going through a home reno, I really loved this angle and thought it was written very well.

Overall, I loved this book and will definitely be reading more from this author. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants a cozy mystery with a bit of romance, but who also likes HGTV.

I like how Mary Kay Andrews can mix a rom-com with a good and mysterious murder. This time, she has brought us to the world of reality shows. Young widow Hattie just made a very bad business decision and accepting to take part of one while she flips a historic house seems the only way out. But things keep turning up as she tries to do that.

3.5 rounded up.

This was an exciting reading. As usual for Andrews's books, the mystery does keep you guessing, but the atmosphere itself is fun—well, despite the skeletons you may find in the way.

The book was a perfect summer release and just what you'd want if you've read any of her previous books. If you're not familiar, do treat this as a romance book with the plus of a crime to be solved. I don't recommend it to anyone who would twist their noses to romances, even if the mystery part gets much more attention here than in your usual rom-com. To me, it's the perfect mixture.

What a great beach read!! The book was a little hard to get into, but it picked up + I enjoyed it very much! The mystery aspect was unexpected and one of the best parts. I did love how it wrapped all up and definitely didn’t expect the twist! Which I love! This was a good palate cleanser of a book.

Great book. Not what I was expecting at all…it was even better. Loved the story of Hattie’s determination to restore the old house and fight for the truth. The characters’ s interactions, the suspense, and the romance combine to make a great book for a weekend read.

Interesting book idea, but it dragged too slowly for me.

I'm sure others will love it, just not for me.

Not my regular cup of tea but a cute story that I could see being super popular with readers who like an easy summer romance book. The writing flows well so this is an easy book to fall into a rythym with, and something you could finish on vacation. I would definitely add this to my list of romance novels that you can recommend to most of your reading friends!

I really love a home reno show, so I love it as a theme in a beach read. Mary Kay Andrew's The Homewreckers is a delight to curl up with on a summer day (or a day you wish were a summer day)!

Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me. All thoughts are my own.

Hattie has had experience with flipping houses. This time is going to be different as she ends up doing a project on a reality tv show. She’s working on an old beach house in Savannah, Georgia. There’s a whole crew at the scene, including a handsome coworker. And there’s an old mystery involving the house. And Hattie finds herself involved with a little romance. This mixture is definitely going to make things interesting.
