I went into this book thinking it would be a cutesy romance between people renovating and flipping an old rundown house. I was wrong. This book has everything! It has drama, house renovations, passionate people, heart-wrenching moments, murder, arson, mystery, and a cast of characters you grow to love! Hattie is approached by Mo who produces reality tv shows for the stories version of HGTV (called HPTV which I loved) to create a show where she would star as she flipped an old house into fresh beauty! But those trains are derailed as Mo’s boss decides to go in a different direction and tosses in all kinds of switches including a fancy co-star named Trae. I don’t want to spoil anything for anyone but let’s just say that you can expect a skeleton in the closet of this old house (not literally). A murder case is opened back up after a wallet is found in the wall of the reno’d home and chaos just seems to ensue from there. Hattie was the star of this book for me and I love that she is portrayed SO HUMAN! She makes mistakes, she isn’t perfect and she learns from the things that she does, even just in this book alone! I loved her from the start of the book all the way until the end! Some of the romance pieces were a little far-fetched to me, but hey, from a book about reality tv, what else can be expected haha! If you’re looking for a quick read that involves a start to finish house flip, a cold case being reopened, and some sprinkles of romance, this could be the book for you!
Thank you Net Galley // St Martins Press // Mary Kay Andrews for this advanced reader copy in exchange for my honest review! All of the thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.

Mary Kay Andrews screams summer to me, The Homewreckers was no different.
•
A laugh out loud, murder mystery romance= everything I ever want in a book.
•
Like usual, Andrews writes a lengthy novel that keeps your attention from start to finish.
•
This book is for the lovers or HGTV and redecorating shows!

I want to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for providing this electronic ARC in exchange for an honest review. What I most enjoyed about this book was that it truly offers something for most every reader—romance and the mystery of a crime to be solved embedded within the challenges of home remodeling. The plot had enough twists and turns to engage the most reluctant reader as they will try to navigate each plot event and solve the puzzle of what was truly happening in that decrepit beach house on Tybee Island. There even is a delightful dog named Ribsy who readers will love. I found myself cheering for Hattie Kavanaugh as she emerges from the ashes of a bad business decision at the start of the book to embrace a new business opportunity in the form of a TV show called The Home Wreckers along with her contractor friend Cassie, designer Trae and director Mo. When the original plan she agreed to morphs into something else, she learns to go with the flow and not let the riptides of adversity drown her. Widowed at 25, the storyline offers Hattie opportunities to emerge from her grief and embrace the moment, but will she take them? When an object is found in the house that possibly is linked to an unsolved crime, the project takes on new importance and potential danger. This was a novel I could not put down. It is said that summer begins with Mary Kay Andrews. In the opinion of this reviewer, that is very true. This novel was a vacation in a book for me, and you will want to read it to see whether Hattie is able to get the happy ending this hardworking, strong, honest girl so richly deserves. And like any good vacation, you will not want to see it end. I highly recommend it and give it five stars.

If you like HGTV and DIY projects, you will love this book. The characters are as interesting as those on those TV shows. I absolutely love the local folks. Well, most of them. The relationship between Hattie and her family and her best friend’s family is so wonderful. This definitely shows you don’t have to share blood to be family and I think that’s awesome. Great storyline and believable characters. This is another great MKA book! I received this book from NetGalley, but my opinion is my own.

FINALLY the Mary Kay Andrews we know and love is back! Her last few books have been misses for me, but I'm so glad she's back to writing about Tybee and Savannah with a great mystery included.
Minus points for the awkward dialogue in the first few chapters. So many "gonna"s and "gotta"s that it was awkward and totally the wrong voice for someone their age. Somehow it smoothed out quickly, so maybe it just needs a bit of editing.
More minus points for the romance because it was fairly non-existent, then all of a sudden people are moving coasts to be together.
Points added back for Mary Kay Andrews bringing back the fun location and characters to her books!!
Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC for an honest review.

⭐️ ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️/5
Romantic Comedy: 448 pages
Trigger Warnings: Death, Murder, mild Violence (I know in a rom-com!).
No Spoilers Review
I will start by saying that this book was NOT what I had expected. I thought this was going to be your typical run of the mill rom com, a cutesy story about X trope with a happily ever after ending. When in fact, the story is like one I’ve never read before. The plot was fast-moving, and kept me engrossed.
This is my first read from author Mary Kay Andrews but it won’t be my last. A rom com with elements of a thriller and an unresolved crime, made for a very engaging read.
Things I liked:
* I really enjoyed the home improvement aspect of the book. It was fun to read about the home improvements made, and I was able to envision every step of the way.
* The detailing in the storyline left no room for imagination, as the story was descriptive and had great flow.
*
* The characters were believable and I cared about them. Hattie, the main character, was loveable and I could really relate to her.
Things I didn’t like:
* Honestly, I'm extremely hard pressed to mention anything here. There really wasn't anything I didn’t like in this book. I surprised myself by loving this book, and it surpassed my expectations.
If you’re looking for a book which is captivating, unpredictable and enjoyable to read, I’d highly recommend this one!

Cute spoof on the reality shows that renovate houses. A woman contractor is paired with an arrogant designer. He wants upscale and she wants cheap.

great romance and murder mystery that happens at the house that she is redoing for a TV show. Like trae and mo . I liked her friend cass. I think that I will read more of her other books. I loved the chapter titles. Great romance.

The Homewreckers was such a fun, beachy read! I love a good romance book, but I also really love when romance isn't at the front and center, which is just what The Homewreckers delivered. Hattie's character might be one of my favorites of all time, I love a strong female lead!
I've read one other book by Mary Kay Andrews and I'm really beginning to understand the buzz around her books. The Homewreckers will keep you wanting to go back for more!

Thank you NetGalley, Mary Kay Andrews and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of The Homewreckers. This is my personal review.
Mary Kay Andrews has done it again! She has written another book that held my attention from front to back cover!
The story she wrote was so well written and each character and storyline within the book fit perfectly together.
It had a female who loved to reno houses and all her partners in the business where not only friends but family. The booked was focused on her being asked to reno a home for a new reality show. She thought it was a great idea but there were a lot of underlying subplots that made it a fabulous story. Everything from a bit of a mystery to romance filled in and made the book a must read for an enjoyable beach read!

The Homewreckers has all the southern charm readers have come to expect from MaryKay Andrews.
We meet Hattie, who is a skilled contractor and works with her Father-In-Law and her best friend Cass. When she is approached by Mo, a reality tv show producer, she is adamant she won’t participate in his proposal. However, after her most recent project fails, she’s scrambling and Mo’s offer seems to be a solution. Complete with a compelling mystery and several relatable obstacles this storyline is fast paced and thoroughly entertaining.
MKA writes with just the right balance of humor and poignancy. I definitely recommend this one. Thank you to NetGalley and St.Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read an advanced copy, all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I honestly can’t believe I’ve gone all these years with reading a Mary Kay Andrews book! I completely get the hype and why I see a new title by her every summer.
This is the definition of a perfect vacation read. Such a compelling storyline that has charm, mystery, developed characters, and romance. The premise was great and is probably the best HGTV vibes book I’ve read (which has interestingly enough been a lot). Hattie was such an incredible heroine and overall great character. Her relationship with her in-laws, her work ethic, and how she carried herself made me so invested in her storyline. Mo was hands down my favorite character though. I was worried this would feel too long but it was well paced and the page count ended up working. I’ve never met a mystery I didn’t like and the whodunit was a great addition to the storyline. Overall, fantastic read! Really exceeded all of my expectations. I cannot wait to read more books by MKA now.

I literally couldn’t put this book down from the moment I picked it up. A reality tv show for home flipping in a savannah town being proposed to a feisty and fearsome female contractor who owns her own flipping business. She is not interested. Why Savannah? Why her? This author can literally being characters to life to make you love them, dislike them, and make you not want to stop reading until the book is done. Loved this book. And sometimes romances annoy me. 😂 I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.

Mary Kay Andrews has done it again! I love the fun romance/who done it/beach theme of her books! I will be telling my friends about this one for sure! Thank you!

This book is full of various twists and turns as the plot thickens amongst the genteel Savannah families. The intertwining of the Hoffman's and Creedmore's begets the question of who did it in light of Lanier's death and the subsequent findings of her wallet and remains. Hattie had no idea what would be uncovered nor what would occur in her quest to buy and restore the house to its original condition that capitalized on the beauty of Tybee Island. As the relationships evolved especially due to everyone's role on Homewreckers, the book got better and better. So glad she realized that Mo is a great guy!

This book was such a fun and cute read. Part home reno show, part romance and part missing person mystery. Another great book from Mary Kay Andrews.

Such an enjoyable escape read! I really liked the mystery angle of this one and felt it was both intriguing and well developed. I can't really say the same about the romances, but I still really enjoyed the book. I also loved the Savannah setting! MKA is turning into an automatic read author for me.

I felt like this was a long beach read, but then I remembered that's Mary Kay Andrews' usual. I loved the premise, a reality show coming to check out a local contractor, grabbing her to star - throw in a mystery and a love triangle. It just seemed a bit drawn out, as there were some parts I quickly skipped and flipped right through. I wasn't a big fan of the teacher/student storyline - it kinda bounced right over it like it wasn't a big deal. Gross IMO! If you're a fan of her writing and stories, I think people will like this one.

What an amazingly frothy beach read. The Homewreckers drew me into the wet, hot sticky drama brewing down in Savannah. I was completely hooked book this romance/mystery suspense novel.
Hattie restores houses with her father-in-law and best friend/forewomen. A famous producer named Mo comes into town and pitches her on a new show that she reluctantly agrees to do after recently losing money on a renovation. Hattie pawns her wedding ring to buy a house to restore for the show - called The Homewreckers and quickly discovers the house comes with more than what she bargained. First of all, it's condemned property, the old owners threaten her when she wins the bid and she's so fined by a city inspector. The real fun begins when a wallet is discovered on-site and it just happens to belong to a woman who went missing several years ago. Much to Mo's chagrin, Hattie reports the wallet, a full-fledged investigation is launched and the real fun begins.
The murder mystery involving the local missing woman Lanier Ragan and the circumstances surrounding her disappearance are the most gripping and compelling parts of this book. The author does an amazing job of writing a thoroughly gripping mystery. However, the romance with the on-set designer Trae and eventually, Mo were so cringe and gross I almost wanted to give up on the book. I really loved that Hattie was an independent woman coping with being a widow and running her father-in-law's company that a romance angle was just not necessary and took away from the renovation and the case of Lanier Ragan. I think the author was so focused on the mystery that she didn't have time to really develop the romance with the two men so it felt super weird and cringe with Hattie was suddenly gushing over Trae and then ends up with Mo. I still feel weird about it.
But overall, I loved the book despite the weird romance.

The Homewreckers has everything: humor, heart, home renovation, and mystery! I loved every minute spent reading this book and couldn't put it down! If you love HGTV and Mary Kay Andrews, you will not be disappointed. If you've never read any of the author's books, you are in for a treat! Hattie Kavanaugh, a young widow, renovates and restores homes in Savannah. She ends up getting a home renovation show where she runs into problem after problem, sabotage, and a decades old murder mystery. I highly recommend this book! Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC!
