I like being able to count on an Andrews new summer book to deliver a good story, a bit of romance and again in this case, a bit of mystery. Hattie Kavanaugh and her father in law flip houses and do home renovations in Savannah. A Hollywood producer named Mo winds up in Georgia searching for the next big thing for a home centric network. Enter the photogenic Hattie and deal of a house they bid on and purchase out on Tybee. They only have six weeks to turn the eyesore into a reveal for tv. It's not long before there are wrinkles in the plan, nuisance visits from local inspectors and the possibility that the property may hold the secret to the disappearance of a young schoolteacher years earlier. Would be a great poolside read, short sections and easy to pick up anytime.

This had a little bit of everything - mystery, suspense, romance. The HGTV renovation show setting was unique and interesting! It definitely took some time to get into (~25-30%). I did feel the characters were quite surface level and two dimensional.

Omg I devoured this book!!!! So good. Haha to the publisher for the ARC.
I highly recommend this book!

Mary Kay Andrews is one of those authors that I either love and devour the book or I have to force myself to read it. I'm happy to say that this particular one was a joy to read and I loved not only every single character but also the way that Andrews weaves the violent mystery backstory into the happy main story. The mix of story and style elements really kept the plot moving.
You know Hattie and Mo are definitely going to end up together the second they butt heads as soon as they meet but seeing the way their relationship evolves as they face one challenge after another on the way to creating a hit reality TV show about restoring an old beach house in Savanah is where the story shines. Yes, there are other characters that add fun and/or emotional elements to keep the story moving, but it was always about Hattie and Mo interacting for me.
Then we also have the story of a missing school teacher that disappeared a decade ago and no one ever figured out what happened. The fact that Hattie had a slight connection to her felt a bit forced, yet I liked how it made the slow reveal of what happened to her much more emotional.
Overall, this one shines because there are great characters that practically breathe on the page. There's a little bit of everything to keep even the pickiest readers happy while still being a light, fun read that you can enjoy without much effort.
Happy thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the emotional read!

The Homewreckers by Mary Kay Andrews shows readers the majestic beauty of Savannah, Georgia. Andrews blends a deep mystery with the brilliance of a rom-com and wraps readers around her finger. Keep reading for more about this book and highlights from Tybee Island.
"Never love something that can’t love you back."
These are the practical words spoken to Hattie Kavanaugh by her father-in-law, Hank, who gives her this painful advice about houses. Hattie falls head over heels for a historic old house in Savannah, Georgia.
Unfortunately, saving the house isn’t possible. Hattie’s heart breaks for the loss of the old home. Her heart shreds not only for losing the house but because she placed her entire livelihood, and that of Kavanaugh & Sons, on this money pit. This gamble leaves Hattie needing money in a hurry to get the company and herself back on their feet.
Interestingly, a home improvement show producer comes along and offers Hattie the chance to host her own reality show. She needs the money, so she finally accepts the challenge. But, The Homewreckers quickly becomes its own animal, leaving Hattie with feelings she doesn’t understand. She also has trouble coping. Not to mention, the unearthed mystery of Hattie’s favorite teacher comes to light during the renovation.
The Homewreckers is the perfect summer read. Whether you sit next to the pool or on the beach, this book will keep you entertained long after the sun goes down. My only complaint is that the foil loomed larger than the happily ever after, which irked me a bit. Yet, this is an excellent read that I recommend to anyone who needs a little guilty pleasure in their summer plans.

Not one of her best. This is a three-fer, three books in one. There's a romance, a cozy mystery, and a most of the story is a woman's fiction story about a woman trying to hold her own in the home flipping field. Mixing them all together almost worked, but needed a little more mixing - there were still some dry lumps and streaks in there. The romance seemed to be a bit of an afterthought, and mystery added the suspense, but could have been integrated better, and the home restoring aspect could have been edited down a bit and integrated better with the mystery. The characters were fairly standard, but Hattie and Mo did keep you firmly in their corners. All in all it was entertaining, but dragged in spots. I was disappointed, but it won't stop me from reading her next book!
My copy was an eARC from NetGalley.

This is only the second Mary Kay Andrews book that I have read. She is turning into an author I’d like to read more from. This book surprised me, it was not what I was expecting. I enjoyed the two main story lines and appreciated the mystery aspect. I found myself wanting to skip ahead to see what happens. I was invested, but also thought the book overall was a bit long. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC!

Readers are going to be wanting to go to Savannah and Tybee Island after reading this book. The descriptions of the area are spot on. All the characters are well developed and this story has romance, mystery, a murder, home renovation, reality tv, and more. The perfect summer read.

Mary Kay Andrews writes a good "beach read" and The Homewreckers fits the bill. Fans of reality show home improvement will enjoy it, as will fans of a good mystery. The male "leads" aren't really that interesting, but the women are top notch. Will it stay with me? Probably not as much as I'd like, but I did enjoy Savannah as a backdrop and Tybee Island as well.

This is my first MKA book and this was a great intro!! This book took me on a wild rollercoaster! For someone that loves home renovations shows I knew I’d really enjoy this book but BOY what a twist!!
Home renovation and a murder mystery! What a creative storyline! I like the hint of romance as well!
This book has a lot of very likable characters and perfectly unlikeable characters! It’s easy to love Hattie from her sweet disposition to her unforced beauty. Trae is a pretty boy hot shot tv show personality who you was the perfect guy to sort of like and then come to really dislike!
I definitely recommend this book! Such a fun book that was well written and I mean seriously the plot twists kept me on my toes!!

Cute haters turned lovers story with a mysterious twist- typical to the Mary Kay Andrews style. This was a quick summer read that had me from the first page. If you like mystery, house flipping, and decent banter, add this one to your summer list.

The Homewreckers was a cute little read for summer, I enjoyed reading it. Hattie renovates old houses in Savannah, GA and ended up on a TV show which featured her newest project. I was interested in the story and loved the cover design which is why I picked up the book in the first place. I thought that would be the biggest focus of the book but there were quite a few other subplots to follow and a lot of characters introduced. There is a murder mystery and also a mystery around someone trying to sabotage the renovation. I would've loved the book more if it went deeper on some aspects, like character development, and tried to tackle less stories. For example, the ultimate romance - I would've loved for that to be developed further to feel more believable. I thought that there weren't enough scenes with the love interests developing their feelings for each other. Overall, if you are looking for a light read with some fun characters, this is a good pick!

Charming and light with a twist of mystery, the perfect beach or staycation read just in time for summer!
I received a digital galley of this book in exchange for an honest review.

My first summer read and it has set the bar high for my summer TBR list. There were a lot of pages but I felt like I flew through them. I just added several other Mary Kay Andrews books to my list!

First off, how amazing is this promo box?! This towel is so fun and the perfect complement to the ultimate summer read!
This book starts off looking like a typical HGTV type of RomCom but it’s quickly turned on its head with an added cozy mystery and whodunit! This was my second romance and cozy mystery hybrid this week and I must admit I’m totally here for this genre bending and the entertaining combo they make!
This was a bit of a long one coming in thickly at 448 pages but I will admit it didn’t feel like it! This one was witty and charming and an all around fun read!
This was my first by Mary Kay Andrews and it certainly won’t be my last!

Mary Kay Andrews has done it again! This year’s beach read comes with a home renovation “reality” show, a murder mystery, romance, and plenty of atmospheric southern charm. The characters are well developed, the writing very descriptive, the twists and turns keep coming; definitely a fun read. I find it interesting that Mary Kay Andrews adds first hand knowledge to the home renovation project as she and her husband buy and renovate homes. Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin’s Publishing Group and Mary Kay Andrews for a digital ARC in exchange for an unbiased review.

Mary Kay Andrews' latest "The Homewreckers" is the perfect read to get ready for summer! Always a fan of her work, this one made no exception.

I loved this book! I’m all about being Ms. Independent. I also love a strong female main character that does “a man’s job,” in this case construction. There was a perfect blend of drama, romance, and mystery in the book that made me keep turning the pages.

I love a good Mary Kay Andrews book: they are the perfect summer read and THE HOMEWRECKERS, her thirtieth, will keep you entertained from the first page. Andrews takes some of my favorite things: home improvement shows and old houses, drops them into a fantastic setting, and wraps it up with a bit of mystery for a story and characters you will love.
THE HOMEWRECKERS belongs in your beach/pool/summer vacation (or staycation!) bag.
Thanks to the publisher for the opportunity to read an advanced copy of the novel. All opinions are my own and freely given.

there were too many plots in this… it felt like none of them were really developed. the love triangle (and really the romance in general) completely didn’t need to happen. there was just too much going on in this for me to really love it.
I adore the premise (female contractors, flipping historic houses, a tv show about it, and a murder mystery), but story was just too much for me. I would’ve loved it so much if the plot was more focused and apparent
