This book was steamy, fun and chaotic! I loved it. I hated the conflict, it honestly felt a bit forced (but I have to say I hate most 3rd act breakups so that did not deter my love for this book at all.)
Thank you #netgalley for an early read of #lizzieblakesbestmistake
Honestly I didn’t love a brush with love but I loved this one!!! 4 star read for me! Would’ve been 5 but I didn’t like the ending and I was kinda hoping for a marriage but I would definitely reccomend to friends
This was really cute. I'm usually not a fan of pregnancy tropes but this book managed to pull it off. I would say it was pretty slow in some portions and I definitely got mad at the main character every now and then, but overall it was enjoyable.
Maybe I’m just a sucker for babies in romance, but I honestly feel like this one topped A Brush With Love—which is impressive, because I really loved the first one! Anxiety and ADHD are both very close to me, and this representation is so well handled and thoughtful; I really love the way Mazey’s characters work through their issues in a nonlinear way that feels true to the actual progress and setbacks of living with mental disorders without ever acting like there’s something wrong with them. Also, yes Lizzie for standing up to your mom!! Too many toxic parents are forgiven in fiction, and her “I love you but don’t want you in my life” stance felt so healthy and refreshing, especially compared to the healing relationship with her brother.
Rake is just the sweetest, and while I understand his backstory rubbed some readers the wrong way, I personally feel like it was handled pretty well. My only real issue was the third act not quite working for me—I understood where Lizzie was coming from, but found myself frustrated by the way she continued to drag the issue out. This was a small thing though, and didn’t really dampen my enjoyment of the story.
Overall a solid story, lovely romance, and wonderful mental health rep! I’m looking forward to the next book in this series.
I gave this a four out of five stars. I really enjoyed the book and the main characters. I didn’t like Lizzie’s family what so ever. I felt for Lizzie and wanted to be there and be her friend.
Loved it! Eddings is officially an auto-but author for me and this was even better than A Brush with Love.
Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake, written by Mazey Eddings, is perfect for fans of the accidental pregnancy that happens at the beginning of the book. I will confess that I went into this book not realizing that it was an accidental pregnancy book and that is not usually my thing but since it happened at the beginning of the book I was willing to give it a try. I feel like a lot of books that use accidental pregnancy use them towards the end of the book and use it as a save-the-marriage type situation where it doesn’t feel like it has any purpose besides forcing the characters to get back together. However, this book does an awesome job with the pregnancy trope. I loved it.
I loved the ADHD representation that is threaded throughout the entire book.
this book also does a good job of it tackling strained family relationships with one significant other while the other significant other has a really healthy relationship with their parents.
I loved the combination of type a personality and type B personality. I thought that it was very enjoyable to see how they work to meet each other in the middle throughout the book.
Rating: 5/5 Stars
Lizzie makes mistakes. Or forgets about her mistakes. It’s a toss up between the two. She’s never gotten a handle on her ADHD and the resulting impact on her professional and personal life has been less than ideal.
Rake is tightly oiled machine. He isn’t interested in relationships or intimacy, but instead dedicates all his efforts to getting his work done and doing the best he can at his job.
When Lizzie and Rake find themselves unexpectedly pregnant and very much entangled, they realize not everything has a horrible consequence and that their most meaningful relationship has yet to happen.
This is one of several great books I’ve read this year that’s focused on neuro-diverse main characters and I am HERE FOR IT. I loved how Eddings addressed Lizzie’s ADHD and Rake and her friend’s ability to express appreciation for the things about Lizzie the she found most frustrating. Also - let’s take a second and be grateful for erotic baking and vagina cakes - truly the frosting on the literal cake here.
Thanks to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press / St. Martin’s Griffin and Mazey Eddings for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

I kept trying to go back to this one because I really loved A Brush with Love, but the tropes in this one just didn't work for me. I had never read it before, but I found that I just wasn't enjoying the oopsie baby thing and didn't find the storyline to be particularly believable. I will definitely read this author's next book though because I did really enjoy the first book of hers that I read. I think that if the trope combo is something that you can get along with though, you will enjoy this book, especially if you read A Brush with Love and enjoyed it.
Thank you Netgalley for this free ARC. This was a fun read that hooked me in early. Definitely recommend this book!
I love the premise and the trope, but I just could not get into the book. The trigger warnings were appreciated - it’s nice for the author to acknowledge the power of their words and the topics they conquer. The writing seemed well done and there were some very funny parts, but again, I just couldn’t immerse myself in the story.
I received an ARC courtesy of NetGalley and the publisher. The opinions are mine alone.
I was lucky to receive an advance copy of this book from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review and opinion. I absolutely LOVED this book and was so sad to finish it. Everything about this book keeps you turning the pages until the very end. So funny and good! Can't wait to read more by this author.
Normally I am not a big fan of the surprise baby/ pregnancy-related tropes, but this one was really well done. I love Mazey Eddings writing, and appreciate that this book works as a standalone, but we still got plenty of time with character introduced in A Brush With Love. Lizzie is the first romance character I have read with ADHD, and I felt like reading from her POV gave me a lot of insight into the struggles that can cause. I loved her energy, and enjoyed reading about the baking she did.
And Rake....I was hooked from the start. His chemistry with Lizzie was off the charts, and I enjoyed their opposites attract situation.
This book was a fast read, and I enjoyed the dual POVs. There was so much heart here, and it was just so tender. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
I absolutely adored A Brush With Love, so I when I saw Mazey Eddings had a new book coming out, I immediately requested a copy to review. Unfortunately, I obviously did not read the synopsis too closely, for if I had I would have immediately realized this is an accidental pregnancy trope--one of my least favorites, next to secret baby. I knew this would be a hard book for me to read, so I put it off for months. Until today. I tried my best to get into the book, but in addition to my second-to-least favorite trope, we also have a hot mess of a heroine. Our lead, Lizzie, has unmanaged ADHD, which contributes to her unreliable tendencies, but even knowing that, she's a difficult character to appreciate--at least for me. This is a personal review, in the sense that the book had a lot of elements that, personally, do not like. But the writing was fine, and there was nothing objectively wrong with the 40% of the book I read before DNFing. I will still 100% pick up Edding's third book in this series, which will have different characters and (hopefully) no surprise pregnancies. This is just not the book for me! And that's okay. Not every book is for everyone.
Thanks to St. Martin's Press/SMP Romance for my eARC! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

Lizzie is at a point in life when she should have it all together but she isn’t anywhere close. Her ADHD is not under control and she has last lost her bakery job. She is frustrated with her life and doesn’t know what to do. She knows one thing. She is surrounded by a great family & friends. On a night out, she meets an Australian man, who is PA for business. They hit it off right away and spend 2 days together. When it’s time for Rake to go home, they decide to just be friends because of the distance between them.. How could they possibly start a relationship? A few weeks go by and Lizzie finds out she is pregnant and she calls Rake to let him know. She tells him that she will have the baby and he can be involved or not. Rake takes a huge leap of faith and moves to Pa to give this whole father thing a try. He wants to be part of his child’s life and doesn’t want to miss anything. In RomCom fashion the two have mishaps and flirtations that confuse their whole new set up.. Can the two learn to depend on each other? Can they trust each other? Can they make a life with each other and their baby? This was a very easy read. The story was cute and I couldn’t wait to see how it ended. I want to thank Netgalley & Mazey Eddings for my copy of Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake, for an honest review. It was my pleasure to read and review this book.. if you are looking for a light hearted read, this is the book for you. This was the 2nd book in the series, A Brush with Love. I didn’t realize that and it was ok because it could be read as a stand alone. This was a four star read for me. I hope you enjoy it as well!!!
This book was fantastic. It was even better than her first book! This is easily the best book I have read this year. I feel like Lizzie was super realistic and this story made me both laugh and cry. I could not put it down.
A wild premise, but Eddings makes it work. Lizzie and Rafe were charming separately, sexy together, and believably wading through the complications of their situation. I loved how much they loved each other, despite their differences.
I like Mazey Eddings -- I'm even reading another books of hers right now that I'm really enjoying! -- but I could not connect with Lizzie in this one. I stopped reading around 30%. I know others have enjoyed it though, so this is just my opinion!
This book is everything I needed in a book and so much more. Lizzie gets pregnant after a couple of fun encounters with Rake, an Aussie visiting on business to the city of brotherly love. Lizzie has ADHD and lives life vibrantly and sometimes is a little all over the place but who isn’t. The love between Lizzie and Rake is real and honest and full of highs and lows just like life. As someone with ADHD the representation shown in this book and showing that people who are neurodiverse are just people who function differently but we are still valuable is so beautiful and important. Thank you to Mazey Eddings for writing this book and thank you to St. Martin Press and Netgalley for this #gifted copy.
A big thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the eARC. I am voluntarily reviewing this book. Sometimes, you get a book on a whim and are just not sure. Then you either love it or hate it. This one was a win. Lizzie was so real, not perfect but still fun and always trying. She meets Rake in an interesting way, and their connection just keeps growing and changing. Lizzie will truly make you smile. This is an unexpected pregnancy romance. 4 stars
