Mazey Eddings has the amazing ability to write characters that I instantly fall in love with! I absolutely love that her characters struggle with an obstacle, Lizzie has ADHD. It's so refreshing reading about characters like us. Lizzie has lost her job as a baker, due to her inability to manage her time as a result of her ADHD. But when she has a fling with Australian guy, she realizes that maybe what she thought she always wanted, in fact wasn't what she needed.

Rake and Lizzie's love was so fun to read. I could not wait to see how this book ended. Highly recommend this book and author!

Spoiler alert!!

The absolutely adored Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake. I'm not typically a fan of the surprise baby trope, but this book worked for me REALLY WELL. I think I read it all in one afternoon. I loved Lizzie's journey and her chaoticness and the ADHD representation. And I LOVED Rake and the stability he brought. This relationship was dynamite and I loved their chemistry! I may have to give surprise baby books another shot!

Lizzie has made endless mistakes. Kitchen fires, pyramid schemes, bangs (of the hair and human variety), you name it, she’s done it… and made a mess of it too. One mistake she’s never made is letting anyone get closer to her than a single hook-up. But after losing yet another bakery job due to her uncontrolled ADHD, she breaks her cardinal rule and has a two-night-stand that changes everything.

Once burned, twice shy, Rake has given up on relationships. And feelings. And any form of intimacy for that matter. Yet something about charming, chaotic Lizzie has him lowering his guard. For two nights, that is. Then it’s back home to Australia and far away from the pesky feelings Lizzie pulls from him. But when Lizzie tells him she’s got an unexpected bun in the oven, he’ll do whatever it takes to be a part of his child’s life… except be emotionally vulnerable, obviously. He’s never going to make that mistake again.

Through a series of mishaps, totally “platonic” single bed sharing, and an underground erotic baking scheme, Lizzie and Rake learn that even the biggest mistakes can have the most beautiful consequences.

I didn't expect that a romance book about unplanned pregnancies would be up my alley, but I'm glad it was! This was an unusual take on an old trope, and I really liked it.

We'd like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for an opportunity to read an advanced copy of this book. Mazey Eddings strikes again with this wonderful tale of romance. Her depiction of neurodivergence through Lizzie's ADHD was incredibly raw and relatable. The book is also very light and easy to read. It begs for your attention from the first chapter and keeps it with ease. The only criticism we have for this book, is the way Rake's ex was somewhat villainized for getting an abortion when compared to Lizzie's decision to keep the baby. In this day and age, and especially after the recent women's rights movements across the globe, this comparison was not very appropriate and didn't sit well with us.

The CUTEST story!! I love the characters Mazey Eddings writes and the emotions she gets from me! I cried, and smiled and I laughed. I loved Lizzie and thought she was SUCH a relatable character for me. She was the highlight of the story IMO and made me feel seen.

I loved the drama of this book and how unconventional and messy it was. Sometimes romances are difficult for me to enjoy because they feel too perfect, and this one felt more realistic. I love a good flawed character and this book delivered! I can't wait to read more by this author!

I didn't read much about this beforehand so I wasn’t aware it was an accidental pregnancy trope, which I’m not really a fan of. However, the book overall was fun and enjoyable, just not really for me.

Thank you NetGalley and St Martins Press for the Galley! Such a cute fun book about Lizzie and Rake and their adorable relationship. If you’re not a fan of slow-burn then this is a good read for you. Super fast-paced and enjoyable throughout!

I loved A Brush With Love, so I was really excited to read Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake. While I didn’t love it as much as ABWL (a solid 5-star read for me), I still really enjoyed it! As someone with ADHD, I loved Lizzie’s character and really saw myself in her. So that representation, seeing someone whose brain works similarly to mine find her happy ending, really meant a lot to me.

I don’t typically love the accidental pregnancy trope unless it’s done in a very specific way, so I think that was the main thing I didn’t love about this book.

Overall, this was a cute rom-com with great mental health representation and I’m so excited to read The Plus One next!!

I love how untypical Lizzie is. Sure she's likable and sweet, but she's also a mess and I found that so refreshing. She's an enigma to people and that's only because they don't care to truly understand her. I love how Rake is the complete opposite of everyone else and respects her for who she is, quirks and all. What began as a two night stand truly was the best "mistake" they both could have made.

Lizzie Blake is a very funny book that made me keep wanting more. Much of the book feels a little too contrived even for a romance, but ultimately I really enjoyed Lizzie and Rake's relationship. They for each other super quickly, but I think it works with the central plot of the pregnancy was done well.

This book was fun, entertaining, sexy, and full of laughs. Lizzie's ADHD was relatable and different for romance books, and Rake's willingness to drop everything to move to the states when Lizzie very unexpectedly gets pregnant was very sweet. I love when people are trying to avoid their feelings and both of them living together, but trying to stay apart was very fun.

This was just such a fun book, with an appropriate amount of "real life" problems, and a great overall romance book.

Is it possible to find a deep, lasting and permanent love from a hookup in a bar? What if the two partners lived half a world away from each other? One has what her family deems as a severe personality disorder. The other is gun shy from a previous relationship. One caution...lots of language and graphic sex, not for prudes or old-fashioned. readers. It is an action-packed romance and a fun read. My thanks to NetGalley and the author for a complimentary copy of this book.

LIZZIE BLAKE!!!! I love the sweet nature of Mazey Eddings stories. I'm a hardcore romance lover and these stories always hit me right in the feels. Mazey is a fresh voice in the romance community and this story is no exception. I wish we had a little more steam between these two, but overall a great representation of a sophomore novel.

As soon as I heard the audiobook's first words, I knew I would love Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings, so is it really a surprise that I did? The one thing I didn't realize going into it was that it is a follow-up to A Brush with Love, which I own but haven't read yet. That was an unfortunate discovery, but like other series that I love, this series will also be based on various characters in a friend group, so I don't think doing this has ruined anything for me. This seems like a great time to mention that I absolutely adored the audiobook, and I am urging each and every single one of you to get it. Summer Morton & Will Peters were a ton of fun to listen to, and while it seemed like the Aussie accent would slip at times, I couldn't get enough of either of them. In my mind, they nailed Lizzie and Rake, and they brought so much to their characters.

One of the best parts of this story was that Lizzie has ADHD, and it is so rare that I read a book with a character like her. Through her viewpoint, I felt like I got a lot more insight into what it is like to live with this illness especially if you aren't actively treating it. I was also really intrigued by the way Eddings took Lizzie and Rake's story, and it reminded me a lot of something I have read or seen before, only the opposite. This probably only makes sense in my head but just know it was unique, sometimes heartbreaking, but most of the time funny and lovely. While there is some definite fluff to the story, I did think it had a very serious feel. That being said, this would still make an absolutely hilarious movie, and I could see this being made into a romcom for sure. The was some spice as well which did get a little steamy for me, but it was totally worth it because I loved the book.

I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

I received an eARC via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

After reading A Brush with Love, I could not resist getting an ARC of this book! I love that we got to know Lizzie in A Brush with Love, but now she gets her own story!

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings centers around Lizzie, a vibrant and outgoing woman who has often been made to feel like she is too much. Between having ADHD and an endless stream of career changes, Lizzie has made a lot of mistakes that people wrongfully judge her for. One thing she avoids is getting too close to people. This goes out of the window when she meets Rake. After a two night stand, Lizzie and Rake learn that she is pregnant and must navigate their unexpected situation.

This book is such a fast read. I flew through half of it without even trying. Eddings has that writing style that captivates you and makes you lose track of time. With all the changes in my life and working, I unfortunately hit a reading slump not long after. While I binge read nearly the first half, I struggled to make time for the rest of the book. Once I finally made that time and forced myself to pick up books again, I was invested in the story and finishing the book. I truly enjoy how Eddings writes and crafts her narrative. I cannot think of any other book I have read with this trope, but I think the author did a great job with it.

As someone who deals with similar struggles, Lizzie was a character I could relate to so much. I loved seeing her development. The way she explains her struggles and how people react to her also hit pretty close to home. It was heartwarming to see how Rake never made her feel bad for who she is.

After A Brush with Love and Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake, I cannot wait to see what Mazey Eddings does next!

Thank you to the publisher, St. Martin’s Press, and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.

This is a wonderful book to read when you’re looking for light reading that still has a plot that’ll keep you hooked. Lizzie is a charming, humorous character and I like how her ADHD is discussed in the book.

This was the romance book I didn't know I needed. The story was sweet and entertaining. I love Lizzie and am glad she got her happily ever after. There were so many lines that I wanted to have saved forever. I'm so happy I pre-ordered this too to have a physical copy. This would make a wonderful rom-com movie!!

This book was everything to me. Lizzie and I share so many similar qualities, and it's encouraged me to go talk to my doctor to see if maybe, I'm not too much like I've always been made to seem. I felt so deeply with this book. I can't even put words to how I feel. This book gave me hope. This book gave me life. This book is everything I wanted and everything I needed all wrapped into one. This book easily in my top five reads of 2022. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would.

I have so many thoughts about this book! So, so many! I don't know where to start. I questioned parts of it. I loved parts of it. I finished a day ago and I'm still thinking about it. Isn't that the mark of a great book? Lizzie's ADHD keeps her brain in a blur, and there was so much I could relate to. When life gets too stressful, Lizzie finds her best relief in a stranger's bed. No relationships for her. - she's been hardwired by her family that she's too difficult to love. Some of her behavior is risky, even dangerous. She's not on regular birth control and she puts herself in very vulnerable situations. Not sure how I feel about the accidental pregnancy plot twist - to me, making a baby is a serious business and I am uncomfortable with plot lines that use it as a device. But, it happens. and it's handled gracefully here. Lizzie is very comfortable in her body, and there are a lot of detailed descriptions of her interactions with Rake, her baby daddy/platonic (ha!) co-parenting roommate from Australia. Rake has his own of insecurities. Lots of twists and turns, bumps and grinds, and all's well that ends well. The HEA is as unconventional as Lizzie herself.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and NetGalley for the opportunity to read a digital ARC in return for an honest review.
