I loved this book! The ADHD representation was amazing and made me feel seen. It really put a lot of my thoughts and feelings into words.

I really wanted to like this book more. I think it found it’s footing as it went on but the beginning is a lot. I found the initial ADHD representation forced and too much like a crutch. It did improve as the book went on. It was fairly spicey and I felt like the MCs had good chemistry. It was just lacking a bit in the writing and plotting. Overall it was fine.

I loved Mazey Eddings’ previous book, but Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake just didn’t do it for me — some aspects were cute but I found the characters didn’t have great chemistry. Thank you NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review!

REVIEW: Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings 💫

She did it again!!! I absolutely loved A Brush With Love so immediately pre-ordered this one and requested an eARC and it’s ✨everything✨

Rake and Lizzie were so cute and it was really sweet to see them come together to figure out what their lives were going to be

I’m not going to lie, I finished this at the end of august so no idea why it took me literally forever to post a review for this gem but 🤷🏼‍♀️

I love books that represent underrepresented groups, so I wanted to love this one, but I just couldn’t. While it was funny at times and I liked Rake, I just thought Lizzie was too much. She needed constant hand holding and never really did anything for someone other than herself, most notably Rake. Since the ratings are so high, I am obviously in the minority. I just prefer to read romances that are more balanced.

I absolutely loved this book! This is an example of a not so popular/well liked trope being done exceptionally well. Lizzie and Rake's chemistry was evident from the very beginning and I loved getting to see them get to know each other and develop a deep emotional connection.

I have not read A Brush with Love which takes place within this same universe, but after finishing this one I will be reading that one very soon!

I highly recommend this book to anyone who enjoys rom-coms that are full of heart and characters that you will root for.

I was disappointed that this ended up being about a surprise pregnancy as that is not something I enjoy reading about.

I laughed, I cried, I learned a lot. I loved reading this book and Lizzie’s perspective of having ADHD. I didn’t know much about it and I’m so happy to know a different side. This couple was sweet, heartfelt, and spicy. I can’t wait to own my own copy.

Mazey Edding's writes such fun, hilarious, and emotionally rich stories. I loved her debut, A Brush With Love, and I was so excited to return to this group of friends in Lizzie's book. Well, I was not disappointed. Lizzie and Rake are precious angels, and I loved them. I cannot wait for the third book in the series about Indira.

Thank you Netgalley for giving me an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

This book made me feel so seen as an ADHD woman and I am loving this series Mazey Eddings is writing and cant wait for the next installment. Lizzie and Rake were such a fun take on a normal couple going through pregnancy together.

I enjoyed this book. It was a sweet love story, with a bit of spice and laced with humor. It was lighthearted and fun. A total insta-love story, which is hard for me to get behind but it was still a nice read.

Oh how I love this book - Mazey Eddings writes such deliciously layered stories and this one has great ADHD representation. First, I have to admit that the surprise pregnancy trope is one of my least favorites, but Mazey did such a good job with it and I ended up loving it.

One of the biggest reasons I wanted to read this is because I am a Neurodivergent woman and looked forward to a hopefully nuanced take on ADHD. Lizzie is vibrant, hilarious, and struggling to figure it out - which is so true for millions of ND women out there. She infuriated me more than I care to admit, but Mazey navigates the difficulties of ADHD and someone who cares so damn much so incredibly well. I love Lizzie's growth, especially from the beginning where she didn't have many tools or support, but she worked to find and create those for herself. If you feel frustrated with her at the beginning, I promise it is worth it!

And then we have.the romance and it is absolutely on point in this book and I adore the chemistry between Lizzie and Rake. They have everything we want in our romcoms - banter for days, off the charts chemistry, and all the feels. They have to figure out how to come together with their baby and they manage to do it! Oh, and Rake's Aussie charm doesn't hurt either.

I definitely recommend this book and can't wait for the next one!

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for an ARC. All opinions are my own.

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings is a wild ride, there is a lot going on. Lizzie a baker, but has out-of-control ADHD and finds it difficult to keep a job. She also has a rule where she has one-night stands only. But, along comes Rake (yes, that is his name) and she breaks her own rule and has a two-night stand with him. She ends up pregnant and Rake decides to move from Australia to Philadelphia to co-parent with Lizzie. The two have some crazy chemistry and let's just say this book is steamy! The book is fun and fast-paced and had plenty of moments that left me smiling.

As someone that was only diagnosed with ADHD a little over a year ago, I felt absolutely seen in this book. The feeling of always being too much to people. Trying out lots of different jobs because you get bored easily. Even being a baker. (Yes, I went culinary school and was a professional baker for years. I only realized recently that doing that was totally fueled by my ADHD.)

This book was also hard to read at times, just because it felt so familiar. The way Lizzie is treated by her parents broke my heart, especially because I've been told similar things about by my own family.

I'm so glad this book exists and I will be telling all my fellow neurodivergent friends about it.

Love love love this book! I saw parts of myself in Lizzie and I loved her so much. I also loved Rake and their whole story If there is any conceivable way to make a good sequel I would read it immediately. Going to keep an eye out for my books by Eddings

Cuuuute. Wow how can you not fall in love with Lizzie and Rake. I loved how tender their relationship was and how he treated her. I loved how they communicated. I also think that Lizzie's mental issue (ADHD) was handled really well so kudos to Mazey. I will say the unexpected pregnancy trope is not my fave but I didn't mind it too much here. This is definitely a case where the sequel outshines the first one. Pick this book up and don't let the trope scare you away, you won't regret it!

STEAMY, SIZZLE, SEX AND MORE SEX.

Want to know what this book is about? So do I but maybe it is enough that it made me laugh a little, cry a little and get really annoyed a little. A woman who is comfortable with her sexual reality and not so much her life of constant screwups. It isn’t as if she means to always be late for work and forget that one thing that is the only thing that needs to get done on that day, but that is the way of life for people afflicted with ADHD. Lots of little gems hidden in these pages especially the delightful and delicious Rake and the love affair that is happening, not happening, oh it is so happening. Cute book that takes a long and hard look at mental illness and allows Lizzie Blake with all her faults, problems and smashups to triumph.

Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Griffin for a copy.

Cute fun and quirky in the best way! I loved stepping back into this universe and getting to know a character I was originally drawn to for the qualities she showed very slightly in book 1 of this friends series!!!

Honestly, I feel very neutral about this book. It was a fun and easy read. But gosh do I dislike a pregnancy trope. I do appreciate the representation of ADHD in adult women in this book though.

Mazey Eddings writes with such joy and care for her characters, it would be difficult not to fall in love with her writing. Lizzie Blake is an adorable rom-com heroine readers can root for with their whole hearts.
