This was a DNF for me. I really, really wanted to like it but Lizzie was just too much and maybe I'm past the point of meaningless sex, but when the chemistry is that right, why in heaven's name run?

This is a solid choice if you're looking for a rom com novel in the vein of Nora Ephron. Judging by the reviews already left, I'm definitely in the minority. If you're on the fence, give it a shot unless you're like me and want a heroine who is more mature and has her life together.

At first, I was hesitant to read this book because of the accidental pregnancy trope but I'm so glad I finished this one!!!

This is my first time to read an Edding's book and it will definitely not be the last. I really love her writing style and how she made these lovable characters with a beautiful story to share.

Loved loved loved every second of this book. Most people will say they hate or aren’t one for the pregnancy trope and after seeing Twilight at a young age and HATING it I always agreed the pregnancy trope, especially accidental pregnancy, just wasnt my jam. But after this book I swear I need a million more with this vibe! Or I could just reread… which I might do. Getting to see Lizzie as a functioning adult with the same disorder and mindset as myself was truly amazing and I loved how everything was explained and handled. This book has so many ups and downs, it’s truly an emotional roller coaster- but just like Lizzie, it’s messy and imperfect and I wouldn’t have it any other way!!

Ok…this book had no business being so good. I read “A Brush With Love” and fell in love with Mazey’s writing style. This book was unexpectedly steamy and I loved every second of it! The characters and the story were beautifully written. It was a relatable, funny, spicy, emotionally, amazing roller coaster that completely entrapped me.

I can’t thank NetGally and the Publisher enough for letting me read the book! I look for to reading more of her work in the future.

I gotta start by saying A Brush With Love is one of my favorite reads of 2022, so I was very excited to read Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake. And Mazey Eddings did not disappoint! At the beginning of the book, Lizzie is a chaotic (but loveable) mess. Once again, Mazey Eddings wove great mental health representation into her book by featuring a heroine with ADHD. And after a weekend with an Australian man named Rake, Lizzie finds herself with a bun in the oven.

Suddenly, Rake is moving halfway across the world as they figure out how to raise a child together. Rake's love and acceptance of Lizzie help her become the best version of herself, and she does the same for him. This is a book that exudes joy-highly recommend.

This was such a fun and quirky book that also touches on deeper topics.

I absolutely adored Lizzie’s character. She is lovable, positive, fearless, true to herself, and a bit of a mess (but in the best way possible). She is also living with ADHD and dealing with her estranged family. And Rake… a sexy Australian man who drops everything to help Lizzie raise a baby after their one-night stand? Yep, I am here for it. Honestly, Rake was elite. Although he was closed off, he was kind and supportive at all times.

I went into this one completely blind and had no idea this book had an accidental pregnancy in it. I am not going to lie, that is not one of my favorite tropes, so I was a little nervous to keep reading. BUT I thought that the relationship progression came off very organic therefore the trope just … worked. I enjoyed their dynamic and interactions.

I applaud Mazzy Eddings for writing such great neurodiverse characters. This book is for anyone who feels like an outsider, for anyone who has or knows someone who has ADHD, and for anyone whose family just doesn’t “get” them. It shows us that we ALL deserve love!

I won’t lie, I was nervous about this one! “Accidental pregnancy” is probably one of my least favorite tropes….. and yet I liked this book, I truly did. I think one of the main reasons for that is Eddings’ writing style. This is my first time reading a novel by her and I can already tell she has a real good knack for creating very unique, multi-faceted characters that you can really understand & root for.

The dedication page is one of my favorites of the year, and I loved how the ADHD representation + dialogue was set up to be front & center. Rake & Lizzie have great chemistry as a couple and I had fun following along with them on their journey. I especially love how supportive Rake was & how he never tried to push Lizzie to fundamentally change. I’m really glad I stuck this one out bc I enjoyed it and it makes me want to read more of Eddings’ work!

Lizzie Blake's Best Mistake by Mazey Eddings is another great book in this "A Brush with Love #2". I really liked to see the development of Lizzie's character and her growth throughout this book. I also thought Rake was such a good character and so supportive of Lizzie. I do love anything where the characters attempt to have platonic relationship after already breaching that boundary. I can't wait to read the next book in this series!

Lizzie has disaster as her middle name. Her ADHD is a uncontrolled, she breaks her one real rule and finds herself dealing with the results of a I’ll advised hook up. It is here that the fun begins. Rake is not adverse to sex, it’s just he like to love ‘‘em and leave ‘em. That is till Lizzie. So fun. So different. Very readable.

I really enjoyed this book! The interaction between the characters was fun and kept me hooked at the end of every chapter. I didn't know this was a sequel, though. You can totally read this without reading the first book, I did. I felt like the writing was a little different from a lot of other romantic comedy books, so that made the story fun, different, and creative.

Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake was by far one of my favorite books of the year. It was so so good and @mazey has such a distinct writing style that is really well paced, has so much heart, and is so so funny. This book follows Lizzie and Rake who meet at the beginning of the book and have an instant connection. They spend a glorious night together thinking they won’t see each other again because Lizzie doesn’t do a hookup twice and Rake is going back to Australia. But fate has other plans and they both break their rules and tumble into bed together one more time.

Ok now hear me out. You may be thinking, what? accidental pregnancy? I don’t know about that. But I will be the first to say I reaaally do not like a pregnancy trope of any kind but I LOVED THIS BOOK. The pregnancy trope is done so so well and while yes Lizzie is pregnant, I felt that it was a sub plot that added to the story beautifully but didn’t overtake it. If that makes sense. The book follows Lizzie as she navigates trying to find her place in this world amongst her own challenges such as ADHD, familial strain etc. And Rake as he leaves his home to move to the states to help Lizzie. They decide to keep things platonic so they don’t overcomplicate their new situation 🫠 𝘾𝙪𝙚 𝙨𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙞𝙤 𝙖𝙥𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙢𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙖 𝙡𝙤𝙩 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙚𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣. And that’s all I’m going to say to preserve a little mystery and so you can experience all the joys of this book on your own. This book made me laugh out loud, had me smiling like an idiot, had so much heart, is dual pov, had perfect spice (seriously Mazey writes good spice) and I genuinely couldn’t think of a single thing I wanted to be different. It was perfection.

As someone with ADHD, this book was SO relatable for me. I kept thinking, "If I only had red hair and a bit of a sex obsession, I could BE Lizzie Blake." The chaos, the mistakes, the tardiness and messiness of thoughts and THINGS. But ultimately ... the good intentions.

About 15% of the way into this book, I thought I knew where it was headed. But it really surprised me and launched into a much more complex story. In a good way!

This book does such a great job of normalizing the instabilities of ADHD, RSD and general mental health concerns. I was very touched by Lizzie's family dynamics - her assumptions about her brother's opinions of her, the distance she keeps from her mother in particular and how they have shaped her relationship tendencies. A lot to unpack there if you stop and think about it for a while.

Enter: Rake. He's dreamy, seemingly perfect .... with an Australian accent to boot. The encounters between them seem to work backwards from what most would consider "the conventional way of doing things" but I absolutely adored their shared journey.

Lizzie is so lovable. Her flaws aren't flaws at all, they are just who she is. And as it turns out, her "mistakes" have often been the best things to ever happen to her.

LOVE!! A Brush With Love was one of my favorite romances of last year and this did not disappoint. To be transparent, accidental pregnancy is one of my least favorite tropes. HOWEVER Mazey Eddings did it in a way I can get behind. It was expected going into the novel, both parents were all in, and most importantly the two didn't fall in love because of the pregnancy. Lizzie and Rake fell in love despite of the circumstance they are forced into. I cannot wait to read Indira's novel but am so sad my time with these characters is almost over!!

This was such a cute story. I just loved Lizzie's personality and felt for her and how much pressure she put on herself. Her ADHD felt very tough, but honest and I think it's important to have characters like that portrayed so well/real in books. Rake was just so swoony. I loved him so much. This was very sexy, romantic and uplifting and I really liked it. Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin's Press for the ARC.

Lizzie has ADHD and her brain doesn't always let her finish a thought. growing up her family treaded her like she was a problem that needed fixed then someone they just pretended wasn't there.
She moved out and spent years traveling and now she's living in her favorite city as a baker. She doesn't want a relationship and just settles on hookups.

One night waiting for a online date she meets Rake and has a instant connection with him. since her date hasn't shown up they decided to spend time together.

She's only looking for a hookup and thankfully he's in from Australia on a business trip he has been burned with love and isn't looking for anything but Lizzie he's ready to have a fling with.
That one night turns into a few days and a tour of the city. But then he goes home and life goes back to normal for both. UNTIL Lizzie finds out she's pregnant and decides to keep the baby and tell Rake but he doesn't have to do anything she just wants to let him know.

Well Rake wants to be in the baby's life and decides to move to the US for the baby and his job is opening a office there so he's going to transfer and they are going to be roommates and co parents what could go wrong.

This was a funny and heartwarming story and I love the business like deal they form to raise this baby and to keep things simple. But nothings simple especially with there back stories and feelings. I didnt read the 1st book I wish I did but this one focuses on Lizzie so I wasn't lost. I'm going to go back and read it and will be looking forward for the next book.

I'm not gonna lie, if this wasn't a Netgalley book I probably would have DNF'd it as I skimmed the first 40% because I just wasn't into it. Lizzie has ADHD and is portrayed as someone who can't responsibly adult, basically. She's late to work a lot which causes her to lose jobs and she can't stay on task as she is easily distracted which often causes her tardiness, and she's portrayed as impulsive. I don't have ADHD so I personally can not attest to these traits but my husband does and he "adults" just fine. I'm sure there are levels of severity of ADHD similar to how not every autistic child is the same, but I don't know, something about this portrayal just ate at me.

She has a one night-ish stand with Rake who's in the US from Australia on business and the accidental pregnancy trope is the result. Lizzie and Rake's connection is mostly insta-lust (hence a lot of my skimming, I just wasn't into the sex scenes.) I also never totally bought their connection which didn't help with my interest in the book once I started reading. Rake sees Lizzie as this ray of light, always looking for the new in life. People with ADHD are often seen as go-getters, their spontaneity envied so I guess this was the author's way of highlighting something positive about Lizzie but to me it was him being attracted to a personality trait he lacked. Again, just my opinion. I did like how Rake took up for Lizzie with her family, but overall he was a weak hero who lacked a backbone when it mattered most and that was disappointing. Lizzie's humor was very much 13 yr old boy humor and normally I don't mind that but coupled with her ADHD it just made her seem sort of immature and someone to not take seriously which is something that has plagued her all her life.

It was just a so so read for me. I didn't hate it but I didn't love it either and it was kind of a chore to get through.

ahhh i loved this book! What a fun, cute, engaging, etc. story! Lizzie Blake's best mistake is a home run for this reader! I really really enjoyed it and am so glad I got to read this one early. I'll be telilng folks to put this one on their TBR for sure! Can't wait to read Edding's next one!

We can always use more neurodiversity rep in our romance reads, especially ADHD characters. And as a parent with ADHD kids, I truly appreciate authors who create characters who aren’t always neurotypical, who are vibrant, complex, and unique characters we can all fall in love with and cheer on from start to finish.

So get those thumbs moving and add Lizzie Blake’s Best Mistake to your TBR. It’s another fantastic romance story with romance tropes readers will adore (let’s tick these off shall we)…

Oh my gosh this book was perfection!!! I absolutely love the name Lizzie Blake for starters. As someone who also has ADHD it was nice to see this written out in the storyline that is relatable. I loved the characters. I was hooked and this is one of my favourite books for the year for sure!
